Through out my experiences with 2,5-years-old kid, she looked up upset because

1- She didn’t get what she wanted for breakfast
or
2- She didn’t like what she had to wear
or
3- She hates when they put her hair up and tight.

Angelina Jolie may be on the verge of, taking a year off from film, but before that happens she is positively giddy about one more upcoming role, calling her next shoot “an amazing chance to work with an amazing man, a hero of mine.”

“I’m looking forward to a film I get to do with Clint Eastwood. It’s so cool. And it’s a great script,” the Oscar winner told MTV News on the eve of the release of her latest drama, “A Mighty Heart.”

The film she’s referring to is the forthcoming “The Changeling”, a drama she describes as “a real story of a child who was kidnapped in 1928…and [the] cover-up by the LAPD.” Earlier this year Variety reported that Jolie would play “a woman whose son is abducted but retrieved; she suspects, however, that the returned child is not her kid.”

“The Changeling” will mark Eastwood’s first return to the director’s chair since his one-two punch in 2006 of “Flags of Our Fathers” and “Letters From Iwo Jima.” No word yet on whether Eastwood will appear in the film.

The combination of a master director like Eastwood (can a director be in his prime in his 70s?) and Jolie looks to be a duo made in movie heaven. Jolie certainly seems to believe that to be the case, gushing to MTV News about Eastwood’s famed workmanlike approach to shooting, “I’ve heard it’s great. I’ve heard it’s very quick. You’ve got to get your stuff together and get ready because he doesn’t linger…which I think is wonderful. He expects people to come prepared and get on with their work.”

Jolie told MTV shooting on “The Changeling” is set to begin in Los Angeles in October. Knowing Eastwood it will probably wrap in late October.

Psyched to see Jolie work with Eastwood? Can Clint work his Oscar magic one more time with the “Girl, Interrupted” star? Weigh in below.

Oh, I can’t stop laughing because of how pissed she looks. I so can’t wait for her to grow up. With Zahara and Shiloh teaming up, Brad is going to have some glorious times with his girls. LOL

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt split more than two years ago – but that wasn’t the end of Aniston’s relationship with Pitt’s parents.

In fact, on Sunday – Father’s Day – Pitt’s Springfield, Mo.-based mother, Jane, dropped by Aniston’s Malibu home for a quick chat.

Odd that the actress is still close to her former in-laws? No way, says Pitt’s brother Doug. “Jennifer is a friend of Brad’s,” he tells PEOPLE in its new issue. “Why wouldn’t she be a friend of ours?”

This certainly wasn’t the first time Aniston has connected with her ex’s family – Jane and Pitt’s sister Julie visited her in Chicago in 2005 while she was filming The Break-Up with future boyfriend Vince Vaughn, and Aniston told Vanity Fair she and Jane keep in regular touch.

But Aniston is hardly pining for her ex – just days before Jane’s visit, she had another VIP guest: her new beau, British model Paul Sculfor, who stopped by on June 15.

I got that too, but the main statement here is: JEN IS BRAD’S FRIEND.

I don’t think what Doug Pitt said means Brad and Angie are breaking up in the slightest, but I think its crap that Brad gave his brother the green light to talk to People about him being friends with Jennifer still, their family still being friends with her, and none of them, including Brad, has ever defended Angie publicly against all the vicious attacks against her, and the only pictures of Jane “visiting” or even being near Angie were at the Mighty Heart premiere recently. Plus, for all we know, she was just there for Brad. Poor Angie.

Plus, don’t Brad and his brother/people think that those comments are just going to give more fuel to the tabloids and other craptastic stories about “BRAD STILL WANTS/LOVES JENNIFER!” Come on, they’re not stupid.

Brad and Angie are happy and togehter and living a full, bold life.

What’s to defend?

Angie’s not the whine-y type. Her words and deeds speak for themselves.

Brad’s a grown man who does what he wants. He’s proving, everyday, that he is right where he wants to be.

They want peace. People give space for peace. Doug said their family loves Angelina and they are friends with Jen. He said so at a meeting two years ago.

This reminds me of our African culture, Jane prefers Jen is not going to change Brat love for Angie. She is wasting Jen and her time.

The days for family to pick one partner is long over. I tell this to my relatives in Africa. My cousin in Africa still spend lots of time with ex family, and all they do is to gossip about his white girl friend in europe. The man in question has not spoken to her in 3 years.

The best thing to do was to say NOTHING as they have done in the past. Thats right, one time they say something, and what was that, more than a year ago? Have they said anything since? Not just them, but Brad? The negative tabloid stories about Angelina don’t stop. And I realize that she’s strong and may not care, but the fact that Pitt and his family didn’t feel the need to ever correct negative things or to spin them when the tabs attack Angie, but ONE TIME Jane Pitt is “caught” secretly meeting with Brad’s ex, he and his brother feel the need to issue a statement clarifying that Brad and Jennifer and the family and Jennifer are still friends is highly, highly bothersome.

When you’re an international superstar — when you’re Julia Roberts or Tom Cruise, for example — it can be difficult for audiences to accept you in challenging roles, difficult for them to dissociate the persona from the performance. Lately this phenomenon also has been true of Angelina Jolie, with her well-documented adventures in adoption and globe-trotting with Brad Pitt.

But in “A Mighty Heart” as Mariane Pearl, the wife of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, Jolie reminds us that she really can act, that the supporting-actress Oscar for “Girl, Interrupted” wasn’t a fluke, that there is indeed substance beneath the sex appeal. She deeply immerses herself and, as a result, stands tall as the film’s graceful heart and soul. It’s pretty hard to imagine that her name won’t be at the forefront again come awards season this year.

(Likely to get overshadowed in the mountain of praise Jolie will duly receive is Dan Futterman as Pearl himself. The Academy Award-nominated screenwriter of “Capote” only gets about a half-dozen scenes to give us an impression of who this determined journalist was, mostly in flashbacks, and he does so with subtlety and intelligence.)

Director Michael Winterbottom (”24 Hour Party People,””Welcome to Sarajevo”) wisely applies his trademark documentary-style approach, making us feel the building tension and dread as a multicultural coalition of investigators and journalists drops everything to track down Pearl’s kidnappers. (The unadorned, fly-on-the-wall camerawork comes from longtime Winterbottom collaborator Marcel Zyskind. John Orloff wrote the no-nonsense screenplay based on Mariane Pearl’s memoir, “A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny.”)

Like the stylistically and thematically similar “United 93,” this is a film that clearly needed no dramatic embellishment. And like “United 93,” we know the devastating ending from the moment we walk in, yet may find ourselves silently, futilely hoping that things will turn out otherwise. Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and beheaded by Islamic militants because he was Jewish, and the killing was videotaped. Thankfully, though, we don’t have to see it.

But being aware of his outcome makes each early moment sadly meaningful — the image of Danny pulling away in a taxi for his fateful meeting while researching shoe bomber Richard Reid, a casual mention that he might be late for dinner, a perfunctory “I love you” on the cell phone before saying goodbye.

Once Danny fails to return to the home where they’re staying in Karachi, Pakistan, on the night of Jan. 23, 2002, Mariane — herself a journalist for French radio — puts her skills to use trying to determine what might have happened to him. She is six months pregnant with their first child, a son Danny wanted to name Adam, but she moves quickly and efficiently. At her side from the start is his longtime friend and colleague, Asra Nomani (Archie Panjabi), but as the hours tick away and the situation grows more grim, their circle expands to include investigators, editors and ambassadors.

Winterbottom puts us smack in the middle of them, gives us a seat at the table as they piece together names and faces, times and places. But that doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll always be clued into what’s going on. The sensation of realism that permeates every frame of this film means that we also experience the same chaos these people endure; it can be frustrating but, then again, making us omniscient wouldn’t make any sense.

Leading the investigation is the head of Pakistan’s counterterrorism unit, a man known as Captain (Irrfan Khan, with tremendous presence) who turns out to be more caring and sympathetic than he initially appears. He orders his men to scatter through Karachi’s crowded streets, dark alleys and hidden back rooms, rounding up the usual suspects.

This, by necessity, takes us away from Jolie. We truly miss her presence, and when she’s gone, “A Mighty Heart” can get a bit draggy. For a big chunk in the middle it feels like a standard crime drama — though it’s a strikingly crafted and stirring one.

“A Mighty Heart,” a Paramount Vantage release, is rated R for language. Running time: 108 minutes. Three stars out of four.

Angelina does not need defending. She said on Larry King that she and Brad do not hide on each other’s back.

Doug Pitt has expressed his family love for Angelina, his mother and sister were with Brad and Angelina at the premiere. He has said so many good things about Angie, calling Jen a friend, is just what it is.

Love it that they didn’t waste any time and went to People magazine to tell everyone they still love Jen. :D

A skilled actor vanishes into a role; a movie star appropriates it. As presence trumps character, the star personifies Brecht’s alienation effect, and whatever its ostensible subject, the movie becomes a vehicle—the latest installment in an ongoing career or, in the case of a great star, a public myth.

Angelina Jolie is the major alienation effect in A Mighty Heart, although she’s not the only one. The hectic pizzazz with which hired gun Michael Winterbottom directs this tale of terrifying terrorism is another distraction—and so is the movie’s true-life premise. An addendum to last year’s 9/11 movies and a sequel of sorts to Winterbottom’s Road to Guantanamo, A Mighty Heart is based on one of the most disturbing events of the 9/11 aftermath—namely the case of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, abducted by jihadi extremists in Karachi and, five weeks later, brutally executed on video, in part because he was a Jew.

A mondo-global, insanely urgent, staccato procedural in which each shot arrives like a bulletin, A Mighty Heart is characterized by sensational, quasi-documentary location work in swarming Karachi and a sense of near-constant frenzy. Pearl’s briskly staged abduction sends the movie into controlled chaos. The crime triggers a dense montage of flashbacks and action cuts, accompanied by head-spinning techno-babble—a manhunt with a half-dozen agencies busily tracking emails and cell phone calls.

After his capture, Pearl (Capote writer Dan Futterman) appears only in flashback—a few video teases notwithstanding, the movie resolutely refuses to show him in captivity. A tough Pakistani cop (Irrfan Khan), wholly committed to the case and willing to torture prisoners when necessary, serves as a minor hero. But the heart of the movie, of course, is Pearl’s wife, Mariane (Jolie), seven months pregnant and compelled to endure the torments of the damned. Based on Mariane’s memoir, the movie is true to her clear-headed politics, even while refracting them once more through the media’s rainbow prism and the glamour baggage that its star necessarily brings.

Oscar notwithstanding, Jolie belongs less to Hollywood than to the magic kingdom of publicity—in Cannes, where A Mighty Heart had its world premiere, she was referred to as the planet’s most photographed woman. Google serves up 358,000 wildly clashing images. Over the past decade, her persona has mutated from tattooed Goth girl to possibly incestuous cyber-dish and Esquire’s “sexiest woman alive” to its current, suitably contradictory state—most fully expressed by Kate Kretz’s five-by-seven oil painting Blessed Art Thou, in which, posed as the Virgin Mary, a beatific Angelina floats along with three cherubic children on a cloud above a Wal-Mart checkout line. Jolie is Our Lady of Humanitarian Narcissism: Not we but she “are the world,” good deeds illuminating her divine person in a blinding blaze of glory.

A Mighty Heart, which was co-produced by Jolie’s consort, Brad Pitt, is the celluloid equivalent of Blessed Art Thou. Jolie’s Pearl is an almost mystic presence. Not since Lara Croft has the actress had so apposite an avatar. Jolie plays Mariane as an icon—her complexion darkened and hair tortured into a perfect mass of ringlets. Jolie as Mariane Pearl is not as extreme a notion as, for example, John Wayne playing Albert Schweitzer, or Jennifer Aniston in the role. As striking and preternaturally poised as she is, Mariane Pearl is herself a great performer—as demonstrated when she went on TV to argue for her husband’s life.

No less than Jolie, the actual Mariane ascended the red carpet at Cannes; in the movie, her character is imagined as a star. Possessed of an iron will and a miraculous presence of mind, she’s surrounded by an entourage yet awesomely solitary in her tragic isolation. When the worst inevitably occurs, no one is able to hug or even comfort her—she goes off alone. The movie is fundamentally a solo, and the creepiest thing about A Mighty Heart is the ease with which this terrible tale becomes a meditation on divadom. A limited actress but an overwhelming presence, Jolie cannily saves all emotional fireworks for her big scene.

Has Daniel Pearl been eclipsed? Blame Brecht. As Mariane, Jolie not only thinks faster but looks better than anyone else. Whatever happens, she’s never less than gorgeous. There’s hardly a moment when Jolie is onscreen that you can’t sense the presence of makeup artists and hair stylists hovering anxiously just off frame.

Actually, if I was Aniston I’d be pissed by that statement from Doug. It’s patronizing. Like it’s been said up thread everyone knows Jennifer and Brad are not friends. Too many snarky comments between and by both of their PR reps to believe that and Aniston’s friends. Her friend Lee came right out and was quoted in USWeekly (about shiloh) “how do you think Jen feels? Brad acts like she never existed” That’s not friends. I kinda think it’s a big F.U. to Aniston, like she’s Brad’s friend why wouldn’t we be friends with her? It’s all about Brad which leads me to believe that’s Aniston sole purpose in keeping communication with his family.

Doug Pitt confirmed this morning to the News-Leader that Angelina Jolie is expecting a baby with his brother, Brad Pitt, as reported on People magazine?s Web site.

When asked if his family was ecstatic about the baby, he replied,
Absolutely.?

First and foremost, I’m just happy for Brad and Angie. It’s a big step. I’m just happy for them, he told the News-Leader.

Doug, who by early this morning had already fielded half a dozen calls from media worldwide, said he’s glad speculation has ended.

He hopes the media will give his brother and Jolie a break.

They just want a chance to enjoy it, like everybody else, he said. I would love for the press to just give them some space, to let them enjoy it.

According to People magazine’s Web site, Jolie told a charity aid worker Monday, Yes, I’m pregnant, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where she is filming ‘The Good Shepherd’ with Matt Damon.

Representatives for both stars confirmed the report, according to People.

It’s the first biological child for Jolie, 30, and Pitt, 42.
A month ago, Pitt’s publicist, Cindy Guagenti, confirmed a legal petition was filed in Los Angeles seeking to change the names of Jolie’s adopted children to Zahara Jolie-Pitt and Maddox Jolie-Pitt.

Doug Pitt wouldn’t say how long his family has known about the baby, but they’ve had several opportunities to get to know Jolie.

It’s great, he said of his brother?s relationship.

Brad Pitt brought Jolie and her kids to visit his family in Springfield on Nov. 20. Brad’s nieces and nephews had a blast, with Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 1, Doug told the News-Leader a few weeks later.

Pitt’s mother Jane Pitt, visited her son in California around his Dec.18 birthday on a girl trip, with Doug’s wife Lisa,sister Julie Neal and Brad’s nieces.

None of the family visited Brad in California the week of Christmas or New Year’s Eve, Doug said, despite what celebrity tabloids have reported.

The story of his kidnapping and murder is told in the new film, A Mighty Heart, opening nationwide this Friday. The film focuses on Mariane Pearl, Danny’s wife and fellow journalist, and the exhaustive search to bring Danny back alive.

At first, I was nervous about if, and how, Angelina Jolie could pull off playing Mariane — her first starring role since “Brangelina” became the celebrity world’s focus. But I have to give her credit because she really pulls it off. Her Mariane is determined, brave and dignified in crisis. She helps steer the search using her journalistic skills and keeps everyone on track and focused while six months pregnant with their son, Adam, whom Danny never met.

The film brings us back to the early days of the Iraq conflict where the attention was on the terrorists rather than the current focus on the failed U.S. war effort. It is smartly directed by Michael Winterbottom who has effectively handled war correspondents before in Welcome to Sarajevo, and the Iraq war in the recent documentary, The Road to Guantanamo. Winterbottom’s gift as a filmmaker is making the film feel at times like a documentary, and at other times an edge of your seats thriller.

Summer is not usually the time for realistic, hard-hitting dramas but Paramount Vantage is smart to counter-program with a bona fide movie star like Angelina Jolie. If she can’t get butts in the seats for a good movie like this, I’m afraid no one can.

I also agree this is damage control. I don’t know if Jane got duped but unlike yesterday I’m not so sure Brad knew about the visit until after it happened. I also agree with you that there won’t be any other visits and I also don’t buy that Brad and Jen are friends. Her PR person would have been pimiping that information for the last year if true. Jolie, Pitt expecting, brother confirms

Doug Pitt confirmed to the News-Leader on Wednesday that Angelina Jolie is expecting a baby with his brother, Brad Pitt. It’s the first biological child for Jolie, 30, and Pitt, 42.

People magazine quotes Jolie telling a charity aid worker, “Yes, I’m pregnant,” in the Dominican Republic where she’s filming “The Good Shepherd.”

Doug Pitt says the family is elated.

“First and foremost, I’m just happy for Brad and Angie,” he says. “It’s a big step. I’m just happy for them,” he says.

He’s glad speculation has ended and now hopes the media give the couple a break.

“I would love for the press to just give them some space, to let them enjoy it,” he says.

Doug maintains that while his brother’s divorce didn’t change how the family feels about Jennifer Aniston, they welcome Jolie.

“My thing is, why wouldn’t I? Of course we do. And any discussion outside of that is personally insulting.”

Doug won’t say how long he and his family have known Jolie was pregnant. Though he knew official confirmation was imminent, he dreaded that day.

He was in the shower when his wife told him the news was on the “Today Show.”

“And I thought, ‘Here we go. Here we go.’ I started answering the (cell) phone before I got to work,” he says.

When Brad is in the news, invariably Doug’s phone starts ringing in Springfield.

And when he’s not, it’s quiet. “Unfortunately,” Doug says laughing, “he’s in the news a lot.”

On Wednesday, Doug fielded nearly two dozen calls from media worldwide. The only call not from media was a woman who offered to be Brad and Angelina’s nanny.

Jenny Paul, a reporter with Showbiz News in the United Kingdom, recognizes the world’s fascination with Brad Pitt.

“Brad is definitely the number one favorite with the public and therefore with magazine or newspaper editors,” she tells the News-Leader in an e-mail. “Especially now he’s with Angelina Jolie. The news that they are expecting a child together now is absolutely huge.”

As to whether families of other celebrities encounter the spotlight like Springfield’s Pitts, she writes: “Yes it is very common. It’s not always the case that families are not willing to talk to journalists.

“Of course, you get the people who understandably slam the phone down on you or shut the door in your face. It’s not my favorite part of the job — but it is a part of the job.”

Doug knows tabloids are big business. Which is why he and other family members say they wish the American public would stop buying them.

“Look at the pictures in the grocery stand and put it back, is my advice for ‘06,” Doug says.

Nothing compares to 2005 after Brad and Aniston announced their separation a year ago this week. Not only have calls increased, says Doug, but photos and comments attributed to family members by unnamed “sources close to the family” show up more than ever.

Could friends in Springfield be talking?

“Absolutely not,” he says. Their most trusted friends wouldn’t say anything.

Doug and his sister, Julie Neal, were incredulous when shown that one magazine ran photos of their Springfield homes.

Two months ago, Doug says, a couple of area residents tried to set him up by planting a “Team Aniston” sticker on his car and taking a photo. Doug thwarted the attempt and got the police involved.

Something he said in a Rotary Club meeting showed up in magazines and sped through the Internet. The comment — that his family likes Jolie, but that they like Aniston, too — was an off-the-cuff remark.

“You know, I’ll have to call that an amateur moment on my part,” he says. “Somehow it got from there to the world. And I’m not sure of the path but at this point it doesn’t matter. I should have known better.”

It’s not that he didn’t say it. What bothered him is that it “wasn’t for public consumption.”

He won’t ever break personal news about his brother, he says, though he occasionally shares family reaction with People magazine, “and my local newspaper just because it’s where I live, and outside of that, if it says I said it: I didn’t.”

Last July, the Australian tabloid New Weekly quoted Doug saying Jolie was pregnant.

Never mind the information is obviously wrong. Doug had never spoken to the magazine and only knew about the quote because he got calls on his cell phone from around the world.

“It’s my business phone, and I had to turn it off.”

That’s when he contacted his lawyers.

He’s prepared to go after any publication that prints lies involving his name, he says.

“They’re moving into my livelihood here, and when that happens, it’s time to push back.”

Yes, he says, he complained to Brad. Asked about his brother’s reaction, Doug says Brad laughed and jokingly said, “Welcome to my world.”

“Exactly. Your world,” Doug recalls his own reply.

“I didn’t sign up for this.”

Do you just forgot they have 4 kids? it’s not like when brad was married to jen. Now, it’s different, and his family loves his kids and like I said they don’t hate angelina.

Maybe Doug thought that he was being proactive, in terms of preventing paps from coming to Missouri and stalking them and their friends for quotes again. After all, Brad had to return to the country in winter 2005/spring 2006 to get restrainting orders against the paps for chasing his family down.

Personally, if the paps begin the stalking again, I hope Brad would stay put in Prague and take care of the kids and Angelina. After all, the Pitts are adults and can handle whatever comes their way.

I’ve seen Doug Pitt, he’s like HEE HAW all the way. He’s one of those born again, Assembly of God people. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but those people come from a very little, little world.

I agree. Just like they used to go on Brad Pitt fan boards and post portions of their articles to stir the pot.

I understand completely Doug Pitt’s statement. They aren’t going to have a sit down and tell everyone what Brad and Angelina and themselves have had to deal with over these past years.

Doug’s sticking to the agreed divorce announcement by Aniston and Brad. lol

The unfortunate victim in all of this is Angelina because she’s the one they go after because Brad doesn’t talk.

t has to do with me not understanding why there was a need to comment on the status of the Pitts’ relationship with JA at all. As you and others have said, they don’t feel the need to comment on every tabloid story about Angie, Brad/Angie, their kids, so why this one? Why clarify what was going on at this “meeting” at all?

I think it had to do with it being People magazine. They called doug and he probably thought this was not going to be some big story.. OR he thought saying Jennifer was a friend of the family was a good quick answer, and it would defuse some of the upcoming tabloid stories that are sure to come out.

What was Doug to say when he got a call from People? he has already spoken out twice on the dumb rumors that his family didnt like angie.

This story is even going to be on ET! Crazy! Jen is so irrelevant when she isnt connected to Brad.

Interview with Doug Pitt: By Sony Hocklander

In his business office, Doug Pitt talks about his interests, which include family, church, sports, hunting, NASCAR, writing and photography.

As first base coach, Doug Pitt claps and yells encouragement to the batter, his 9-year-old son, during a youth league double-header.

“Two steps, Landon,” Doug calls out. The boy scrapes his feet over the dirt and swings the bat behind his shoulder, poised for the pitch.

Swing.

“Nice cut,” calls Dad, who minutes later gives his son a quick squeeze when he’s walked to first.

Carving out time for his three kids is a priority for Doug, an active community member who runs his family-owned computer business, ServiceWorld Computer Center. He reads to his kids and helps them with math homework. He and his wife, Lisa, run them to nightly activities.

They’re a busy, average Ozarks family. Except for one thing: Doug’s brother is Hollywood megastar Brad Pitt.

Doug and his family never guessed years ago what unexpected consequences — and privileges — would come with fame once-removed.

For his kids and their cousins, it means summer vacations at Uncle Brad’s beach house where Aunt Jen (Jennifer Aniston) whips up killer barbecue and homemade salsa.

Doug, Lisa and other family members attend movie premieres, meet Hollywood stars and view rough-cut film screenings, such as “Death to Smoochy” with Danny DeVito, Brad’s next-door neighbor.

“We’ve gotten to go and see things and meet people and do stuff we’d never get to do,” says Doug, back from a visit with his brother a month ago.

“And that part is great. But unfortunately, there’s baggage as well.”

Springfield residents aren’t a problem, say family members. But when the national media frenzy surrounding Brad peaks — like now with the release of “Troy” — Doug’s phone starts ringing.

The gatekeeper

Nothing prepares you for being related to a superstar, say Doug and family members. How-to books don’t exist. There’s no one to offer advice. You make mistakes and learn from them.

In the beginning, they were too trusting of national media sources, underestimating how far some people would go to get pictures of them at church or Brad’s visits home. Their words were twisted out of context.

When national media folks and fans began showing up on doorsteps, the Pitt families moved to new houses and closed ranks.

While there was never a formal vote, Doug emerged as the point man on matters concerning his brother. It seemed natural that Jane and Bill Pitt’s middle child — at 37, three years younger than Brad and two years older than Julie — would assume the role of gatekeeper.

“Bill and I didn’t want to do it,” says mom, Jane. Doug is good at dealing with people. And with his business, he’s in the public eye anyway.

“It wasn’t discussed, but we were all very willing to let him do it,” his mother says.

“Doing it” means more than fielding media calls from the world over. Doug also handles requests from locals who seek donations from Brad. They can average one a week. Some people ask him to lunch on the pretense of business, then hit him up for Brad’s money. Those requests go right in the trash, Doug says. The rest he screens, presenting a few to Brad, who Doug says already gives generously to his own selected charities.

“Honestly, I don’t want to sit down with him for 40 minutes and go over charity requests,” Doug says. “He doesn’t want to do it and I don’t want to do it.”

Doug is sought by fans — and fanatics — who swing through town seeking a brush with anyone Brad-related.

“I’m here in the office and literally, they pop in to pay me a visit,” he says. Most of the time he smiles, shakes hands, politely refuses a photo and sends them along.

“I’m an easy target,” Doug says with a shrug and resigned grin, deepening the trademark dimples that match his brother’s, sister’s and mother’s.

Brad can be 2,000 miles away, Doug says, but if members of the national press think he’s in town, they camp out with cameras.

While his brother visits about twice a year, “I’ll guarantee you 49 out of 50 references to Brad being in town are false,” Doug says.

The media invasion doesn’t scare him, Doug says. Rather it’s the obsessive fans they attract, including one who sends postcards from all over the country as if she’s family.

Once, says Doug, someone staked out his business for three days.

That’s why being Brad’s brother also means extra precautions, like preferring to keep his kids’ pictures out of the media. And calling police if strangers get alarmingly close.

“I can’t cry too much about it because there’s so much fun and good that comes with it,” Doug says of his brother’s success. “Believe me, I have my good days and my bad days regarding this. And sure, are there days that boy, I wish he was an architect? Absolutely. But overall, it’s positive and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Julie Neal, a stay-home mom who volunteers at her kids’ school, is rarely contacted. People are often surprised to learn Brad and Doug have a sister. “I get that all the time,” she says. And most think Brad is the youngest of two.

“I’m the baby,” she says with mock seriousness. “Everyone thinks Brad is, but I’M the baby, by golly.”

She’s happy to let Doug handle Brad-related issues, though.

“I’m more emotional,” she says. She got a few calls when Brad broke up with actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

“And it really bothered me because they just hound you and they were just so mean. And it wasn’t his fault,” she says.

Jane and Bill don’t like to discuss their oldest son’s personal life, says Jane over lunch in a rare interview.

“Just because, well, it’s very difficult because he is just my kid,” she says with a warm smile. “And that’s just what he does for a living. You want your children to succeed no matter what they do for a living, and this is what Brad has chosen.

“It’s not why I’m proud of him. I’m proud because of what kind of person he is.”

Kind. Thoughtful. Honest.

Like her other two kids, she says: “It’s the same reason I’m proud of all of them.”

Close-knit family

There’s no doubt the Pitt family is tight-knit, say friends. Doug and Lisa live in the same neighborhood as Julie and her husband, Rob Neal, a friend of Doug’s who works at ServiceWorld.

Lisa was a family friend. In high school she was a cheerleader, and a year older than Doug. Plus, she ran in his brother’s crowd.

She never gave him a serious look back then, Doug says. They met again through church when he was 21.

“And now I’ve got three kids,” he says with a grin.

Doug’s 9-year-old son and his daughters, 8 and 7, have grown up with Julie’s 9-year-old son and 6-year-old twin girls. Julie and Lisa swap taxi duties, and “Grammy” (Jane) reads in the kids’ classrooms.

To the family, Brad is simply another Pitt kid. He and his wife are as much a part of the family as anyone. He’ll drop anything, they say, when he’s needed, like last summer when Jane’s mother died. Brad and Jennifer flew in the next morning.

A few years ago, they made a surprise visit for Thanksgiving. Last November, Jane and Bill drove to California for the holiday.

When Doug, Julie and families visit in California, Uncle Brad spoils his nieces and nephews. To the kids, he’s just fun Uncle Brad who plops on the floor to play.

“He’s their personal play gym. They climb all over him. He’s a big kid,” Doug says.

“He is all about them,” agrees Julie. “He hates to have his hair brushed, but he lets those girls brush his hair, and put makeup on him and nail polish on his fingernails and toenails. He is crazy mad about them.”

The kids know their aunt and uncle are “famous,” says Lisa, but they don’t comprehend what famous is.

Julie sheltered her kids from Brad’s fame as long as she could. She wanted them to know her brother as uncle first, actor second. Aunt Jen, too. One time the twins were confused to see her on a “Friends” promotional.

“Is that Aunt Jen the same as OUR Aunt Jen?” one asked her mother.

Hollywood actors like Brad are catered to, says his father: “It’s awfully easy to lose your sense of self-worth.”

Bill thinks the family helps keep Brad grounded.

“We all abuse him tremendously,” he jokes. “Nobody cuts him any slack.”

The best times, says Jane, are when her kids are together.

“There are a lot of families that can’t stand each other,” she says. “They can’t even spend the holidays together. And we look forward to getting together for anything.”

Guy next door

Doug is friendly, yet, while not exactly reluctant to talk about his life, he seems hesitant to appear ostentatious — downplaying his own accomplishments and certainly things his family enjoys because of his brother.

His personal interests vary. He’s active in church and loves sports, especially basketball at Southwest Missouri State University where he graduated in 1990. He hunts with friends — which he says is mostly about hanging with the guys.

He’s a loyal friend, says Todd Edwards, Doug’s best friend since they were 4: “He’s the epitome of what every guy wants in a friend.”

Doug, Julie and Rob are staunch NASCAR fans. Those interests and more are reflected in Doug’s office, a three-dimensional scrapbook. A football signed by Tom Osborne sits on a shelf; photos autographed by NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon hang on the wall. Another photo was signed by John Ashcroft.

And then there’s Brad. In addition to pictures of Lisa and his kids, Doug’s shelves include an enlarged snapshot with his brother, and a boxed “King of the Hill” doll — a gift from Brad, who, like Doug, is a fan.

Awards adorn the walls — a sign of Doug’s volunteer activities. He’s served on dozens of nonprofit boards and committees, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He helps raise funds each year for worthy Springfield causes and has spearheaded public school-related drives. He was named the city’s Gift of Time recipient in 2003 for civic and community betterment. For 1999-2000, ServiceWorld was named the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s W. Curtis Strube Small Business of the Year.

“Doug is ethically driven,” says Stacey Hammit, a fiercely loyal friend for the last 10 years. “He makes good choices and donates his time and effort.”

In his opinion, Doug is as successful as his brother.

“They just happen to have two different lifestyle and career choices,” Hammit says. “Doug is as active in the community and the business world, and is just as accomplished as his brother is in the acting world.”

Doug’s father agrees.

“What you see is what you get,” Bill says. “I get as many compliments from people in the community on Doug as I do on Brad. … If you can’t like Doug, you can’t like anybody.”

People might be surprised to discover Doug is creative, adds Hammit. Doug plays that down, calling himself a “frustrated” photographer and writer.

“I’m just a hack,” he drawls good-naturedly, though he’s been published for both. Writing is a private passion he’s reluctant to discuss, though he’s happy to swap photography tips and show off his new toy, a digital Canon Rebel. His favorite photo subject: his kids.

Doug takes his children to Apple Butter Makin’ Days, a favorite childhood festival. Several weeks ago, he took his little girls to Artsfest.

Her son is not only a good dad, says Jane, he “covers all the bases.” One day he planned a trip to the zoo and asked his mother along.

“So I kick into mom mode and think I’d better pack this and do that,” Jane says.

It wasn’t necessary.

“Doug had packed lunches for a picnic, he had cut up watermelon. He had veggies. I went, ‘Whoa.’”

He didn’t always balance work and home so well, Lisa says. Building a business requires long hours.

“It’s hard for men to find the balance,” says Lisa who, like Doug, has a strong faith. “We prayed for years that he would find the balance. And I think truthfully, honestly, he has found it.”

He’s good about getting home early, Lisa says. On one recent night, Doug arrives home just as his son rides up on his bike with a friend. Lisa’s out front with their new puppy, Ugg.

Everyone heads inside. Lisa stirs potatoes on the stove, preparing dinner as Doug trades work clothes for casual to play with the kids before everyone scatters.

Too many activities this night prevent Doug from taking a 30-minute ride on his Harley — a favorite way to unwind.

Sometimes he rides by the south Springfield house he grew up in.

Early Pitt stop

Brad was born in Shawnee, Okla., and Doug and Julie in St. Louis. Bill’s work brought them to Springfield when Doug was about 3.

Jane remembers how inquisitive Doug was: “Everything was hypothetical. ‘Now what would happen if …?’”

Even then, he loved to sell things. “He had neighbors who loved him,” Jane says laughing, “and he would sell them dead June bugs.”

Like any two brothers, Brad and Doug had squabbles. Three years apart, they didn’t really share friends. But easygoing Doug was usually willing to follow big brother’s lead.

“Like with Mighty Mites, when Brad had things to sell, he’d send Doug up ahead,” Jane says. “Doug never hesitated.”

When the family skied at Vail, she recalls, “Brad would send Doug down a hill, and if he didn’t break his neck, well then, (Brad) would try it.”

Brad also watched out for his brother, recalls Todd — who was a fixture at the Pitt house. He and Doug were freshmen when Brad was a senior at Kickapoo High School in 1982.

“We used Brad to get to know all the varsity cheerleaders in school,” Todd recalls, grinning. “Brad was very popular.”

When Julie got to high school, Doug’s protective nature kicked into high gear.

“When it came to dating,” Julie recalls, “he was the worst ever. … I’m not kidding you, he was worse than my father. He showed up on my first date, at the same movie. Very coincidental.”

Doug and Brad always had fun together and spoke the same language, Jane recalls.

They still do, says Todd. While each lives a completely different lifestyle, “when they’re together, it’s hard to intrude … they’re so bonded.”

Doug says he and his brother run around Los Angeles and ride Brad’s ATVs when he visits. They’re both daredevils, say family members.

At public events, Brad is bombarded with people who vie for his attention. Doug’s favourite time is when they just “veg out.”

“We hang out with cappuccinos and shoot the breeze.”

Fame frenzy

Brad left the University of Missouri for L.A. to attend art and design school.

Or so he told his family.

“We found out months later he was doing auditions and commercials,” Doug recalls. Brad got sitcom guest spots, then a recurring role on “Dallas.” The family was excited.

When Doug was about 21, he moved out to live with his brother for six months as Brad shot his first movie, which wasn’t released in theaters.

Then Brad attracted a small furor with his role in “Thelma and Louise” (1991). But it wasn’t until “A River Runs Through It” (1992) and “Legends of the Fall” (1994) that America caught Brad fever, and the Pitts’ lives changed.

The early days were hardest, say Doug and his family. For most people in Springfield, Brad’s fame is old hat now. Back then, people went crazy and Doug was averaging eight Brad-related calls a night.

“Kids were calling. Adults were calling. It was a freak show,” he says. “People thought they needed to get reacquainted. To me it was insane. Then people started coming to the house and that changed everything for me. I wasn’t so nice and civil anymore.”

For Julie, seeing her brother treated like a “piece of meat” was the hardest. When her son and Doug’s were about 2 years old, they all visited Brad in New York.

“(They) were getting to that really fun age, and we were in FAO Schwarz where they were into the toys. We went with Brad and Gwennie (Paltrow).”

As soon as Brad stepped in the door, he was immediately swarmed.

“I’d never seen anything like it. It was a magnet,” she says.

It was so bad, her brother left.

“I was really bummed because he couldn’t share in his nephews. I mean, he didn’t get to see them very often and they were so fun, and loving that store. (Brad) didn’t get to be a part of it.”

Pitt privilege

Only the closest friends hear about the glamourous side of being a Pitt. Yes, Doug acknowledges, there are privileges.

A couple months ago, Julie and Rob got to be extras on “Friends.”

Last year, Doug met Andy Garcia, an actor he’d long admired. Doug and Lisa went to two premieres, including “Ocean’s Eleven,” where they sat behind Julia Roberts. The highlight (for Lisa, anyway) was meeting George Clooney.

Doug’s favorite encounter is nearly a dozen years old: sitting around a campfire having breakfast with Anthony Hopkins during the filming of “Legends.” He’d gone to Canada for a week to hang out with Brad on the set. Framed photos from the shoot hang in his office.

Friends are unimpressed.

“It’s such a nonissue with them. That’s why they’re our friends,” Doug says.

Casual friends, too, leave the subject alone. Baseball parents have more important things to ponder — like whether their kid gets a hit.

“I wouldn’t want people invading my privacy. I’m not going to invade theirs,” says team parent Cindy Gingerich. “If they want to talk about it — fine.”

Doug and his family rarely comment on Brad’s life.

“What is Brad’s success is his success and we don’t try to step in his limelight. We stay out of it and let him do his thing,” says Bill.

“If Brad and Jen haven’t said it,” explains Doug, “it doesn’t need to be said.”

Today, the Pitts have stopped collecting magazine stories. There are too many. When Julie and Rob cleaned out their garage recently, they pitched a whole pile.

Family members try to ignore the tabloids but admit they’re a source of irritation.

“Especially when I know it’s so baloney,” Jane says.

They try to stay as close as they can. Family is what it’s all about, Bill says.

“All three of the kids … they still like each other, and still communicate with each other,” Bill says, “and are still good friends.”

Ok some people are just sick in the head. Haters and “fans” alike. I’m done with this sh*t. But the next time you’ll see Jane with the kids or Brad and Angie again come back here and scream at the ocean!!

Anyway Zee’s and Pax’s expressions are just priceless!! They needed to go back to school and they don’t seem to fond about it. Brad is kind of smiling looking at Zee’s “I’ll kick your ass” face. Yeah that’s my daddy’s girl!! LOL!!

BTW-Even inside those loosy jeans Brad’s ass looks FOINE!!!

Brad felt the story of his divorce would probably be in the tabs for a 6 months to a year. It’s been two years and the drumbeat keeps getting louder and louder. If Brad and Angelina don’t do something soon it may start hurting their careers. This statement from Doug IMO is the first step to end this storyline. I see in the future an “accidential” meeting of B&A and Jennifer probably with Courtney. You’ll see pics of them smiling. Reality is they want hang out like the Bruce and Demi but they will take the air out of this story.

I am all for it. This triangle has to stop.

Come on everyone think about it. We all thought the oh so public “secret” meeting was kind of weird. Now we know why.

That baby must have helped move a lot of copy when she was the cover girl for US Week-lies last time. So now they are doing it again? I am sorry to say, but it’s hard to resist not to love to look at her. People like us, who can see her pictures on line, don’t feel the need to go out and buy the mag, but for people who don’t go on line, it must be a refreshing thing to see on the cover of a magazine (even though it’s just a tabloid mag).

Okay, maybe I am being too literal here but I thought they asked him if it was ODD (as if to imply *gasp* JP is consorting with the enemy, what traitor!! ) and DP says NO WAY (meaning it’s not odd, nothing sinister is going on here) “she (JA) is a friend of Brad and a Friend of the Family” (this I took mean that despite what the tabloids say, there i s NO drama).

Honestly, after yesterday when people carried on and on like Mrs. Pitt had commited an unforgivable sin….it’s no surprise that DP gave a statment. These people aren’t celebs, Mrs. Pitt is a School Counselor and lives in a community of non-hollywood people…..so even if she doesn’t read the rags or go on blogs, I’m sure people close to her do. Let’s assume someone logged on JJ and say silly rantings like “Jane Pitt sucks or “Jane Pitt is a traitor”……all because they believe she has betrayed her own son, do you think they will stay quiet? The only way to do away with the notion that there’s some form of betrayal here is to say “WE’RE ALL FRIENDS”. For me, DP’s quote to people is more about protecting their mother and less about what they feel (or don’t feel) for AJ and JA. AJ is secured, they don’t need to protect her but Jane Pitt isn’t….at least in this case.

Again the operative word here (as so many have pointed out, is FRIEND.

Sorry, but not many people would “suck it up” all the way to Namibia. If they didn’t like Angie, they would have waited for her to return to the states to see little Shi. Tell me something, why do you believe them when they say they are “friends” with Jen, but you don’t belive what they’ve already said about loving and respecting Angie? Angie said she and Brad leave the kids with the Pitts some time. Do you honestly believe she would leave her precious children with them if they didn’t like her? Never! Some people are so low.. you dont know anything about the pitt family or this church. Angelina has stated that Brad’s parents were very accepting of her and her two adopted children, from the get go. This sounds very tolerant to me. And THEY DO LIKE ANGIE… Brad has stated this more than once. Brad’s parents actions have proven this over and over.

Someone posted a little scoop yesterday and they were absolutely right on about it. They fought in NY and Angelina flew straight to Prague without Brad.

Angelina was in Prague with her kids without Brad until he flew in a day later. She DID not want him there but he used the kids on her.

This will be his M.O. Using the kids to stay on her good side because he knows how much she loves the kids.

Everybody who knows Angelina and some of Brad’s friends feel really Bad for Angelina at the moment. She’s a good person.

I can understand that they remain friends but talk on the phone not visit her where everybody take pictures and create a message that is not favorable to his son’s partner or even the mother of his grandchild(ren. Why some of you are so surpirsed? most churchs from the south and midwestern are fundamentalist.

The poor family must get the weirdest comments from their fellow church members about angelina.

I think Angelina has more in common with the Pitts than the “not really interested in good news” public cares to know.

Angelina makes more sense with Brad than Jennifer Aniston on so many levels it’s not even funny.
