School’s Out for the Jolie-Pitts!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie bring big brother Maddox, 5, to pick up Pax, 3, and Zahara, 2, from school at the American Embassy compound on a very wet Thursday afternoon in Prague, Czech Republic.

School might be out for Pax and Zee, one of them made a green graduation cap!

Maddox looks like he got a hair-cut… and he’s getting so big!

Watch the video of the Jolie-Pitts here. It’s quite cute to watch Maddox and Pax running through the rain!!

Thank you guys for the links to NYT, WSJ, and USA Today’s review of A Mighty Heart. They are great. At one point I had to laugh because the reviewer called Angelina Jolie an 800lb gorilla. It reminds me of the time a hater called AG that. So, AG, you are related to Angie. Lucky you

#715 Passing Through,That person lied!I looked at People this afternoon it was the same article that People had online. Also it was at the bottom of the page in a tiny little box. That’s all!

+++++++++++++

Thanks, Lou. I saw that in a later post. Thank God People isn’t as stupid as I was beginning to think they were. Wasting one cover on X getting laid by the 9,456,783rd man was bad enough…

Personally I think this is a bad thing. Who’s left to make fun of X now? Nobody gets as many hits are Perez does. When he skewers X MILLIONS of people see the threads. MILLIONS of people get to see what a big-ass phony she is. If Perez goes down there will be no one left to draw a clown face on pictures of X! I think I may start crying…
———————–
So you want him to keep attacking angelina? cuz lately that’s the only thing he does.

++++++++++++++

Perez has had ONE highly misinformed post on Perez…the idiot story on the MJP that he put up today. That’s the only negative post I’ve seen in the last month there. I don’t go there everyday, though, so maybe I missed one.

But…frankly, I don’t care if Perez writes negative posts on Angie. He doesn’t draw clown faces on her photos and wrote “LOSER” in big block letters, does he? No…but he DOES do stuff like that to X. Perez likes Angie and Brad. He hates, loathes and despises X. For that I’m willing to put up with the occasional uninformed J-P post.

A Mighty Heart
There was reason to fear A Mighty Heart — director Michael Winterbottom’s adaptation of Mariane Pearl’s memoir about the life and death of her husband, Wall Street Journal reporter Danny Pearl — would turn out to be a high-toned, Oscar-baiting vanity project for Angelina Jolie. The actress seems too big and familiar a face to convincingly play Mariane, who is of Afro-Cuban and Dutch descent and was raised in France. How could Jolie not be a hugely distracting presence in the midst of such a grim, intense story?

In its early scenes, A Mighty Heart confirms your suspicions. At first, all you notice is Jolie’s makeup — bronzed skin to match Mariane’s caramel complexion, dark contact lenses, ringlets of hair drawn up in a tall mushroom cloud, fake pregnant belly — and her French accent, which has the studied, clipped tones of a talented actor’s hard work and practice.

But those distractions fade away surprisingly quickly, due to Winterbottom’s unglamorous, steely approach, which is closer to news documentaries than Hollywood studio luxe: There’s never a moment in A Mighty Heart where you catch the camera ogling Jolie, which is probably a first for one of her movies.

It helps, too, that for much of the movie, Mariane does little other than sit around in her home in Karachi, Pakistan, waiting for word from the terrorists who kidnapped her husband (played by Dan Futterman) in 2002 as he sought to interview an associate of shoe bomber Richard Reid. Mariane is at the center of the story: She’s the viewer’s connection to the complex, sometimes incomprehensible rush of leads and dead-ends that made up the desperate search for Danny.

Because we know how the story turns out, A Mighty Heart sometimes feels a little dry and matter-of-fact, although Winterbottom can’t resist the urge to politicize things, using the Pearl case to illustrate how the rise of terrorism has further eroded the lines of demarcation between right and wrong.

But the overriding tone of A Mighty Heart is neither indignant nor sentimental: The film is consistently cool, almost to a fault. It is only at the end, when Mariane, along with the rest of the world, discovers her husband’s sad, horrible fate, that the film gives us a bolt of untethered emotion and Jolie is allowed to take over, with a display of animalistic, uncontrollable grief that

probably will bring her that Oscar nomination. It’ll be well-deserved.

WOW Cliniqua, you are so passionate! your post is dead on!! keep on posting girl, don’t loose that passion

Must read great AMH review.

QUOTE FROM ABOVE ARTICLE-
“What can’t be ignored about Brangelina, the tabloid darlings who attract paparazzi like flies to sugar, is that they have put their concerns with the world right into the middle of their films. The same impulse that, no doubt, led Pitt to make “Babel,” led Pitt and Jolie to make “A Mighty Heart.”

The result is a film that’s gripping, dramatic and moving on top of that.

Make no mistake. We’re seeing a new kind of American movie star in their generation — the next step after the Newman/Redford/ Nicholson/Jane Fonda generation. They’re giving us a kind of internationalist filmmaking we’ve never quite seen before, except transiently and not very consequentially from Marlon Brando
I don’t know about you but I think these star/idealists are impressive people.

And, for all the ridiculous glam-besotted noise that surrounds them, good people, too.

Awards talk…I know, I KNOW! LOL!! Just pass this post if you don’t like…

Someone had mentioned some names for Best Actress nominationsbut I keep seeing this promo for a film called Evening and stars some top actresses but it comes across as a chick flick, Anyway the film stars Claire Danes Toni Collette Vanessa Redgrave, Natasha Richardson, Meryl Streep ,Mamie Gummer (Meryl’s daughter) and Glenn Close. That’s a lot of women but they all can’t be nominated Best Actress.

Also Nicole Kidman has a new film that’s getting a lot of Oscar Buzz as well as Charlize Theron.

The Angie fans should be very worried about her.

I just read Ted C’s Blind Item on eonline.com.

I hope for her sake and her family’s sake that it is not true.

How knowledgable is Ted? I know he is a gossip columnist, but I don’t know.

BOX OFFICE @ 06/22/2007 at 12:14 am

Here is the forecast from boxoffice prophets.

Angelina Jolie headlines this weekend’s serious offering for adult audiences, A Mighty Heart. Directed by Michael Winterbottom (The Road to Guantanamo, Welcome to Sarajevo), the R-rated film finds the Oscar-winning actress playing Mariane Pearl, wife of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, and documents her struggle to find her kidnapped husband in Pakistan. In a summer of sequels and effects-driven action pictures for kids on vacation, Paramount Vantage is going after the adults that are often neglected at this time of year. Reviews for Heart have been strong with Jolie already earning kudos buzz and the film should appeal to the same audiences that came out for other acclaimed political thrillers like United 93 ($11.5M, $6,395 average), The Constant Gardener ($8.7M, $6,444), and Syriana ($11.7M, $6,699). Competition will come from Ocean’s Thirteen and Knocked Up which have both been playing well with the 30-plus crowd. Debuting in about 1,350 theaters, A Mighty Heart might open in the vicinity of $7M.
