Angelina Jolie - “Hello” Magazine Interview
The Canadian edition of Hello! magazine has a fantastic interview with Angelina Jolie about her children, her relationship with Brad – and those eating-disorder rumors.
How is your newest adopted son, Pax, adjusting to family life? He’s a great kid. When we first met him, we thought he was really shy and really quiet, but about two days at home, we discovered that he is the loudest member of the family! He is very athletic, very bold. Pax and Zee [Zahara] have really connected because they’re closer in age, and Madd and Pax – they’re brothers, so they have moments where they absolutely bond together against everybody else in the family. Then they have moments where they bug each other, but it’s quite normal. It’s nice. I’m really, really proud.
It’s rumored that you’re considering adopting a child from the Czech Republic. Is there any truth to this? No. We’re not considering any more adoptions at the moment. We’re trying to make sure that all of our kids are adjusted first and that they all have individual time. We will have more children, but not right now. We’re always
open to all countries, but there just isn’t any truth to the rumors. Just because [we] adopt and because we travel, people say Brad’s buying a house wherever he goes and I’m adopting a child wherever I go.
Do you and Brad have different parenting styles? We’re very similar and we support each other as parents, so there is no divide of “Daddy’s good with this but Mommy doesn’t like it,” or vice versa. Brad is just as affectionate and loving as I am, and I am just as playful.

Do you cook? No. Brad would tell you that I am one of the worst cooks in the world, but my first husband said that I pretended to cook badly so I never had to.
How did Brad help you through the loss of your mother? God, it’s funny to give all his secrets away. He’s a really great friend. He really cares. When my mom passed, he sat with me in the [hospital] room and held her hand and helped me go through all the stages that you have to deal with when someone passes, from her ashes to everything. He was just wonderful to my brother [James] as well. [After her funeral] we all went back home and then he just spent the night asking us questions about our mom.
He got us to tell funny stories about her and focus on all the love and all the joy. Brad is extraordinary.
How’s your relationship with his parents? When I first met Brad’s parents, I came in with two adopted children from other countries and that was new for them and their family. I didn’t know how they were going to be, but they’re wonderful, wonderful people. They’re equally loving to all of the children. We’ve left the children with them quite a few times, but I don’t know if we’ll leave them with Pax at the moment [smiling].
Would you say you wear your emotions on your sleeve more than you used to? I suppose, in some way. It’s funny, because I feel like I’m this really emotional person but people have often said to me, about myself or the roles I play, that I seem strong. I’m often surprised that people don’t see me or think of me as an emotional person. Maybe they do more now, but for a long time in my life, it was that I was just tough or something, and that I lacked emotion.
There’s been a lot of speculation about your recent weight loss. The funny thing is when somebody says, “you’re thin,” people say, “thank you.” But to me, it is not a compliment. It’s not something I want to be. I have always been lean, and this year I lost my mom, I have four kids, I finished breastfeeding and it’s been hard to get my nutrition back on track and learn about my body after birth. The disturbing thing is that instead of somebody saying, “Oh, this looks like a person that’s actually dealing with something [emotional],” they say, “does she want to fit into skinny jeans?” When I [read] anything that says I’m too thin, I think “Good, good!” Let it be a criticism. I don’t want to encourage young girls to be too thin.
Where is the reckless Angelina of old, who dived into the hotel pool after winning her Golden Globe? [Laughing] I’m really the same person. I jumped in the pool because somebody dared me to. So it wasn’t anything punk. It was true happiness and fun. Hopefully, I do still have that [quality] and I’ll jump in many pools in the future.

Great questions and answers session by the writer at Newsweek. It is amazing how some people hatred and criticism boils down to AJ’s beauty. She is doing good in her life and like others, she will have her share of critics. However, that has not stopped her from living her life and doing what fulfills her. It is mind blowing how so many people are stuck in a soap opera mentality, with the handsome guy, the wicked girl and the good girl. However, life and love is never that simple. Thanks for the interview Just Jared. It was a good read. Peace to all
LOOK AT ALL THE ATTENTION YOU’VE PAID HER,AND YOU DON’T EVEN LIKE HER.THANKS SEAN SMITH WELL SAID.
here how g8 it is. excuse me, hear how gr8 it is.

for those who are fans, we like to hear about her. if you are sick of her, don’t look or read anything about her. that’s how you escape. get it. also, people who write gossips are not sick of her because Angie helps them sale more magazines. so, i suggest you stay away from all the entertainment gossips magazine that have Angie/Brad in.

I agree :-)

I absolutely love Sean Smith and he has the same WTF I get when people say things or ask questions about Angie. Example: This movie about 2 peoples lives that all of the world saw play out in the most horrible way and how the survivors (MP and her son) overcame is such a positive way. It is an important story and all some can wish for is for it to fail at the box office or wish for bad reviews. I guess all in an effort to hurt AJ they think, but this is about so much more than her and the fact that some people can’t see that leaves me with the same WTF as Sean Smith.
No, it’s really me.
Personally, I think Ted’s made it his mission in life to bring Angie and Brad down, ever since they sued E! for trespassing on their property.
This could be one of two things: a deliberate attempt to cast Angie in a negative light by making this item sound like it’s about her…or, it’s true.
Whatever the truth is, I’m still her fan. Always was, always will be.
Poor broad can’t catch a break.
I just want to scream to her to shut up. I hope her movie fails like Oceans 13 at the box office.

Thank you Neela for your post. I think it really adressed alot of fans and haters questions. I’ve copied my 2 fav parts below:
As for your question about whether she would get this much attention if she weren’t beautiful, I think you’re absolutely right that she wouldn’t. Look at all the attention you’ve paid her, and you don’t even like her.
As for the most beautiful man being with the most beautiful woman, that doesn’t seem contrived to me. That seems logical. Being with Billy Bob Thornton seemed stranger to me

Loved Sean Smith’s comments hear. Put the first idiot of blast and used basic common sense in his second response.
What I like about that session was the fact that it addresses women’s disdain for other women, especially those in power. It is something worth delving into, and I hope he [i]does[/i] research and write an article on this.
You wanna know what else I think about this Ted C. blind?
Isn’t it bloody convenient that it’s come out on the day AMH premiers? Just like all the photos of JenJen, when she wasn’t anywhere for months?
I think he’s been fed this line by a major hater or a member of Jen’s camp.
RE: Ted C.
ugly gay man scorned.
actually it would make a nice gory movie title.. LOL.
Why is hse so thin?????? Look at her hands? How can she be happy when she looks like that? I don’t know any happy people who look that horrible. She does not realise it but the comment about Brad’s parents and Pax is mean. I don’t think they have a great relationship anyway.
mgm….you are such a mean person…how can you say something like that to a person…i know that you can say this when no can see you but you cant say it to a person;s face.even if someone is ugly we do not say that to them or behind their backs we make no comments or we at least look at the good parts of the person.we look at inner beauty and thats important and again no one is ugly not even a child ,no one everyone has something beautful about them ad its special the world would be boring if everyone looked pretty and perfect because than we wouldnt look at the bad parts of the world

A Conversation with Angelina Jolie
Posted June 2007
She’s one of the most famous women in the world. And in A Mighty Heart, opening June 22, Angelina Jolie plays another famous face: Mariane Pearl, who transfixed the world when her husband Danny, a journalist for the Wall Street Journal, was kidnapped and murdered by Islamic extremists. FP spoke recently with Jolie about the experience.

Angelina Jolie plays Mariane Pearl in A Mighty Heart.
FOREIGN POLICY: Danny Pearl’s murder is so often discussed in the context of Islamic terrorism. Yet Mariane did a great job of suggesting in her book that yes, it’s about Islamic terrorism and the post-9/11 environment, but what it is really about is the lack of connections and dialogue.
Angelina Jolie: I agree. The reality is that, as hard as we try, we’ll never get as close to the beauty of her book and her real voice. Her voice at this moment is so important because she is somebody who, when confronted by such brutality and terrorism, somehow kept clear and was able to see the bigger picture. She didn’t jump to fear and hate, with good guys and bad guys. There are victims on both sides of conflict. She understood that she had to fight for the future of her son. Hopefully, the movie will inspire people to go get the book.
There is a clear choice she makes for herself and for her son: not to be terrorized. She has a way of dealing with [her husband’s murder] that is extraordinary. And it was extraordinary the first time I saw her being interviewed on CNN years ago and thought, who is that woman? And how can she—days after her husband was killed in such a horrible way—what is it that makes her able to say, “Ten other people died this month and they were all Pakistani and they’re suffering as much as we are?”
FP: When people walk out of the cinema after having seen A Mighty Heart, what’s the feeling you’d like them to walk away with?
AJ: I think it will speak to many different people, I assume in a different way, depending on where you’re coming from. There is so much fear being thrown out there and aggression and talk of terrorism. We don’t understand all the details, and we’re not focusing on understanding the history of situations.
FP: Was Mariane ever on the set?
AJ: No. Anytime I wanted to ask her a question about the movie, I couldn’t find her, because she was often doing her journalism around the world and focusing on women’s issues. She never came to set. If I ever could ever email her or get any conversation going, it was as if a film wasn’t happening. She would email about a great woman she met running an NGO in Cambodia and something about the kids. I think she had to kind of trust that it was in the right hands, with the right people. And she also, I don’t think, could come near the set because it was recreations of things that would have been too difficult for her.
FP: Mariane said that at length when we spoke earlier. She hadn’t wanted to make a movie, and it was very strange for her to see it on the screen. But she did feel that it was a great group of people that she could trust.
AJ: Which made us all very nervous. When you get trust from a woman like Mariane for something like that, you just think, “Oh, no.”
FP: You have been a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations for several years, helping to raise awareness to the plight of the world’s refugees. Do you feel the advocacy work that you do influences the projects you choose?
AJ: Sometimes. Right now, I’m doing a very wild action movie, playing an assassin. Mind you, I am killing people who are going to kill other people, so I somehow consider that fine. But I’m an entertainer and I’ve got kids. It’s like Mariane: She’s a very serious, very intelligent woman. She’s a well-traveled, deep-thinking woman. But she’s also got one of the driest, funniest senses of humor. She can be really goofy. And she can be wild and fun, and the most exciting person at the party. And she’s a sexy woman, too. So yes, with films, I’ll do serious films, but I’ll want to jump around and be physical.
Angelina Jolie is an Academy Award-winning actress
GOD she is ouuuffffffffffffffffffffffffff!go angelina we love u too !!!

How can anyone say that Zahara is soooo cute !!
People saying that are beeing hypocrites. I know that you will give me the line that “no child is ugly” - but I have to admit that Zahara is not only not cute at all but that she is really ugly. When she smiles she’s even worst that when she pouts. She looks like a monkey, walks like an ape and is dressed dreadful. Can’t Angelina dress her like a nice little girl and give this ugly looking kid some dignity ? I’m sure that Brad’s mother would be terrified to see Shiloh dressed like that. Shiloh is a princess next to these kids. That is why they never take her out with them at the same time
……………………………………………………………………………………Now this is a hater.
i can’t believe somebody would say that about a cute baby like Z. WTF is wrong with her to diss a little child….racist *****.
Ted’s Blind Item smells fishy to me. Sounds like sour grapes! He has been fuming over the “ban” during the Mighty Heart premier.
It has been hinted that his blind vices are confusing (not just with his lingo) on purpose, because they aren’t really pointing to any one celeb on purpose.
IMHO, Angie could NOT do the work she is doing, and take care of four kids, and build a life with Brad if she were doing this drug like Ted say
TED = SOUR GRAPES, DUDE. Get over it.

Hope I don’t offend you. I don’t think MGM was the one actually saying that. I think he/she was posting a comment by another person from another thread. MGM seems to be pointing out the rudeness of that comment, especially a derivative one towards a child.
lucky…people dont choose to look skinny , she is natuarlly skinny .i am too nd i eat a lot never gain weight people think i dont eat but i do really..more than anyone in my family,i just never gain weight, its called metabolism burns the fat quicker..duhhhh anyway angie ’s face is pretty and nothing can change that no mather how skinny she is..if you call her a walking skeleton, then she must be a hot , sexy skeleton..if skeletons looked that way they should be used for chritsmas
right sorry..well whoever said it they dont have the heart to love a person no matter how thy look
Sean Smith interview was really fantastic. He did corrrect all those BS haters question. I just can’t imagine how all these tabloid lies and rumors could affect the minds of some individual. Brad, MP and plan b have corrected several times about the role of MP was never intend for Maniston. but yet, this fraudiston fans just can’t get over it. sad.
mgm…that list was to ignore the haterz not offend the jolie pitts…

Agree with you. My sis is the same way, and people think she’s anorexic, but I’ve seen her eat bags of chips. I think it’s because she’s always been active and her metabolism’s really good that my sis doesn’t gain weight.
I think others forget that Angelina lost her mum this year. I think that’s the biggest source for her weight loss, but unfortunately, people buy into more sensational and negative story, so, she takes a lot of heat for her weight loss.
Re: Ted Casablanca–he seems to have it in for Angie, but I don’t believe the nickname he made up for this vice is the one he generally uses for her.
Also, I don’t think a lot of people would be shocked, just shocked if it was Angie given our girl’s wild child past.
So, I think it has to be someone that people love or hate, but would be SHOCKED–like Nicole Kidman (and I do love her) or Katie Holmes or Sarah Jessica Parker.
