Papa Pitt’s Daddy Duties in Prague
Brad Pitt takes Pax, 3, and Zahara, 2, to school on Friday morning at the American Embassy compound on Wednesday in Prague, Czech Republic.
Zahara flashed photographers another one of her super smiles before getting her ABC’s and 123’s on. She wore a hand-me-down from big bro Maddox, a t-shirt emblazoned with the name Black Sabbath (the English heavy metal band that Ozzy Osbourne used to sing lead vocals for).
Pax wore his “RESPECT YOUR MOTHER” t-shirt again.
Watch the video of Brad dropping off Pax and Zee here and dropping off Maddox here.
A Mighty Heart, which tells the powerful story of slain journalist Daniel Pearl, opens in theaters nationwide today. Brad produced it and Angelina Jolie stars in it.

Everyone is ready to see A Mighty Heart this weekend.
Z so cute .
WAIT — maybe Jen dressed the kids.?
A hand me down tee from Madd. I am more in love with this family than ever. They are teaching the kids not to have hang ups with new clothes. Angie wore a $26.00 dress to AMH premire and Brad is just as comfortable to wearing same jeans and t shirts everyday.
I am going to watch AMH with twenty of friends tonight. Eighteen of us are die hard fans of Angie and we are really looking forward to watching AMH. Three (X fans)of them had to be bribed with dinner and desserts at home but I’ll do it to support Brad and Angie while having fun with my close friends.
Pax is curious about bugs.
love
OMG, I’ve never seen these pictures from the O13 LA premiere. Just saw them at JJB as I was browsing the Brad and Angie thread. :)
Watch how close they get by the third picture and enlargen them for full effect. :)

You are good. Hey, you’ve got to do all you can to support the team. :)
Smiling Zahara is sooo adorable! Looks like she’s pointing at someone saying “you again!”. Maybe the paparazzis have resorted to doing silly antics or bringing ‘props’ to get the kids’ attention.
Beautiful kids! It’s great that Pax and Z are almost the same age. Pax will have some sort of a teacher, like on how to stare down at papz.
anyway, it’s great that they seem like normal kids, hand-me-downs and all.

Angie delivers in Pearl film
Friday, June 22nd 2007, 4:00 AM
Angelina Jolie (r.) is the wife of kidnapped Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, played by Dan Futterman.
Though the events recalled in Michael Winterbottom’s riveting docudrama “A Mighty Heart” are well-known, they are dramatized with such realistic detail and heartfelt passion that the story feels as urgent as the latest bad news out of the Middle East.
It’s the story of Daniel Pearl, the ill-fated Wall Street Journal reporter who was kidnapped on assignment in Karachi in early 2002 and used by his captors in a cruel and clumsy effort to force the release of Pakistani prisoners at Guantanamo.
Winterbottom, whose past docudramas “Welcome to Sarajevo” and “The Road to Guantanamo” made him the perfect choice to direct, had some serious logistical problems to overcome in dramatizing events that were largely dependent on traced cell phone calls and computer entries.
He succeeds by breaking those scenes up and returning time and again to the human drama inside the gated home where Pearl’s anguished and five-months-pregnant wife, Mariane (Angelina Jolie), waits for news along with other journalists, a U.S. security agent (Will Patton) and a Pakistani counterterrorism official.
Pearl (Dan Futterman), a Jew in a hotbed of anti-Semitism, is seen in the opening of the movie preparing for his interview with an elusive source about connections between shoe bomber Richard Reid and Al Qaeda, then throughout the movie in flashbacks that fill out the deeply loving relationship between him and his wife.
Jolie - with a padded belly and a passing French accent (Mariane is French and Afro-Cuban) - plays Mariane as the strong, compassionate woman we came to know in news reports at the time and through her book. For nine days, she fights her fear with hope, knowing from terrorist tapes that Daniel is still alive.
When she gets the ultimate bad news, Jolie’s feral wailing breaks your heart.
The film covers a lot of territory, including the shaky politics of Pakistan, the hatred of Jews, the assumption that American journalists were all CIA agents, and that the 9/11 attacks were staged by the Israeli secret service. Thankfully, it does not re-create the moment - seen by millions via the tape made and disseminated by the terrorists - of Pearl’s beheading.
X17 Xclusive: Britney files restraining order against mom Lead [-]

A source close to Britney has just given X17, exclusively, some shocking news - Britney’s visit to her attorney’s office yesterday may have been part of Spears’ research into filing a restraining order against her own mother, to keep Grandma away from Jayden and Sean!
Britney and Lynne’s relationship soured when Brit was forced into rehab by her family and management (according to Brit herself) and when it appeared that Lynne was taking Kevin’s side in the custody battle involving her own daughter and her daughter’s estranged husband.
Then reports had the mother and daughter reconciling last month and we did catch Brit’s mom and her daughter’s Bel Air home, but Britney was mum on mom the following day when we asked if she was happy to see her mom again.
We haven’t seen the two together since then and now our source is telling us there are some very deep problems between the two. Apparently Britney feels the situation is serious enough to file a restraining order against her own mother to keep her mom away from her two sons, according to our source.
We’ll do our best to gather more information on this developing story and bring it to you as soon as we can!
But it’s not all sad news where Britney’s concernced — we saw her buying a new pet today — any guesses? We’ll bring you that story later …
THIS WILL KEEP THE TABS BUSY :D
THANK YOU BRITNEY BUT PLEASE DON’T SHAVE YOUR HEAD AGAIN. :D
Arghhhhh………I can´t help it…..my brain doesn´t want to…….but my fingers are already tipping..—–Zahara—looks-damn—-cute—
Those kids are adorable.I’ve always thought Brad was the hottest guy in Hollywood! I wish this family nothing but the best!
This is from the dailynews, this woman every week does a sarcastic recap of the tabloids, so don’t get upset.
Thin pickin’ and Katie’s all cut up

Reese Witherspoon
Last weekend’s Father’s Day brought a slew of pictures of various dads and their offspring. Matt Damon and Isabella, Ben Affleck and Violet, Tom McCrazy and Suri, etc. I’m sure these photos will all come in handy during the inevitable custody fights. Oh, come on, you think it too.
Here’s what the mags are talking about this week …
Weight. Jessica Simpson has lost a few, Angelina has lost too many and Nicole Richie has lost her mind. Seriously, they’re saying that she might really be pregnant.
In Touch’s cover shows us that Nicole’s baby bump is getting bigger and the little … um, star? actress? (What is she exactly?) is still avoiding questions on the subject. If Paris really has found God in prison, than let’s hope she’s praying that this rumor is not true. For the sake of the CHILD, people… think of the child!
So, Father’s Day was probably pretty easy for Nicky Hilton this year … “I know it’s just a tie. .. but at least I’m not in jail!”
It was a big baby week:. Julia Roberts had a boy (Henry Daniel Moder ), Keri Russell also had a boy (River Russell… yes, really), Kevin James had a girl (Shea Joelle) and Angelina adopted three and gave birth to two.
This just occurred to me … did Kevin James, “The King of Queens,” name his baby girl after the stadium there? If so, that’s worse than River.
Katie Holmes got a haircut. (It kind of looks like Suri’s.) Based on the amount of media coverage this haircut is generating, I think it’s safe to say that “The Katie” is officially the new “The Rachel.”
Lindsay Lohan has canceled her big 21st-birthday party, originally scheduled for July 2 at a club in Las Vegas. She probably used the excuse, “I’ve been drinking for about nine years already, so what’s the big deal?”
The Olsen twins, on the other hand, did NOT cancel their 21st birthday party. They celebrated in New York with friends, family and the whole “Full House” cast. Because you know what they say … it’s not a party without Bob Saget!
Us Weekly’s cover advertises “Hollywood’s Hot New Diet!” I swear, if it’s “eat less and work out more” I’m going to demand my money back.
Kelly Clarkson has revealed that she was bulimic in high school. Wait, let me get this straight. She used to throw up, but was able to keep her food down AFTER she met Ryan Seacrest?
I find it interesting that Kelly’s eating disorder confession comes immediately after she received bad reviews for her latest song, fired her manager, fought with her label and canceled her summer tour because no one bought tickets. I’m NOT saying that it’s not true - we all know that no “American Idol” contestant would ever lie about their past - I’m just saying that the timing seems a bit … coincidental.
Rod Steward finally married his girlfriend of seven years, Penny Lancaster. She’s 36, he’s 109.
Britney Spears was out this weekend (in yet another classy outfit) and onlookers swear she was drinking martinis. Ah, another proud graduate of the Lohan School of Rehab.
“The Sopranos” finale confused most, surprised many and annoyed some. Kind of like Britney’s wardrobe.
Reese Witherspoon may or may not have broken up with Jake Gyllenhaal, who she may or may not have been dating in the first place. Glad that’s cleared up.
The Odd Couple of the Week award goes to … Jeremy Piven and “America’s Next Top Model” winner Jaslene Gonzalez! You’d have to had watched “ANTM” to understand why I think this is so bizarre. Trust me, the eight other viewers out there know exactly what I’m talking about.
Jennifer Aniston posed in a long, white gown for her latest Smartwater ads. Um, I’m not sure making her look like a bride is the wisest marketing decision.
Why are Jay-Z and Beyoncé (always vacationing on a yacht in the South of France? Oh, that’s right … because they can.
Britney’s little 16-year-old sister, Jamie Lynn, met her boyfriend (who has no dreams of rapping or acting, by the way) at church. Her mother’s thrilled. Jamie Lynn’s the anti-Britney.
Us Weekly and Star both show us pictures of baby Shiloh. Us says she looks just like Angie did as a baby and Star says, “Shiloh looks just like her daddy, Brad Pitt, did when he was her age.” I think she looks just like her big brother, Mad. Words I taught my spell check this week include: Shea, Joelle, Jaslene, ANTM.
Signing off with a quote,
“Hearts that are delicate and kind, and tongues that are neither - these makes the finest company in the world.”
Logan Pearsall Smith
Seriously Logan, why are we not friends?
Though most of us are familiar with the Daniel Pearl saga and its tragic outcome from widespread news coverage, A Mighty Heart is emotionally and viscerally compelling and retains a suspenseful, edge-of-the-seat quality. Though director Michael Winterbottom doesn’t soften the gritty realities, he artfully avoids any sense of exploitation or sensationalism.
The story focuses on the 2002 kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Pearl in Pakistan and the stalwart courage of his wife, Mariane. Winterbottom doesn’t spoon-feed the audience or assign clear-cut blame. He weaves the tale with moral complexity, includes an expansive roster of characters and crafts the account with equal amounts of muscle and grace.
One afternoon, Pearl (Dan Futterman) leaves the home he shares with his pregnant wife, Mariane (Angelina Jolie), to interview a key player in terrorist circles. Diplomatic officials cautioned him to conduct the interaction at a public place, but we don’t know if he even got the chance to try. Mariane is the story’s emotional center, maintaining hope fiercely and fending off paralyzing bouts of dread.
It is not always easy to watch as the movie careens toward its inevitable and grisly conclusion. The acting is first-rate, particularly the nuanced performance of Jolie, who transforms into Mariane Pearl. Jolie’s star power threatened to eclipse the overall story, but fortunately, she plays her character with an understatement that allows us to forget we are watching one-half of the world’s most-photographed couple.
It also helps that Jolie makes every effort to look like her character, a dark-skinned, curly-haired woman to whom she bears no discernible resemblance. Before we see her on screen, we hear Jolie speaking with a not-very-convincing French accent in a rather grating voice-over. But her initially off-putting intonation gives way to the power of her portrayal.
FIND MORE STORIES IN: Angelina Jolie | Hope | PEARL | Mariane Pearl | A Mighty Heart | Michael Winterbottom | Paramount Vantage
A host of supporting performances have a palpable feel of authenticity. Irfan Khan is excellent as a Pakistani official leading the investigation. The frenetic style in which this political drama unfolds enhances its intellectual urgency. Players burst in and out of scenes, and we are left to piece things together, mirroring the sense of confusion those involved likely felt during the ordeal. Mundane moments are artfully blended with gut-wrenching events. While she waits to hear from her husband as his disappearance grows more ominous, Mariane is propped up in bed reading What to Expect When You’re Expecting.
Winterbottom’s skills are considerable in capturing the complexities of political peril, as he did in 1997’s Welcome to Sarajevo. Not as riveting as United 93 but more involving than World Trade Center, A Mighty Heart deserves a place alongside the best films that seek to re-create a shattering time in our recent history.

Confucius says “Be a lotus”.
Which means no matter how ugly, how evil, and how sinful everyone around you might become, do not allow yourself to be stained. A lotus remains beautiful even as it lingers in the filthy waters of the pond. Don’t be contaminated, do not be influenced by worthless means. Remain radiant among the shadows of darkness.
Angelina is like a lotus flower.

Z is a star already. When she smiles its just divine. For such a small kiddo, she has such a big presence! She is walking with Brad Pitt!! The BRAD PITT! Yet all I can do is look at Z’s pictures. She is super cute.
The haters are sore because all of the things that they said about Zahara was wrong:
They claimed that she was incapable of smiling - Clearly, she can.
They claimed that they were ‘worried’ that she was mentally impaired - It looks like she’s not. In fact, she looks pretty sharp for a two year old.
They claimed that she couldn’t walk - Baby girl can and is quite capable of keeping up with both Papa Pitt and Pax.
They claimed that she wasn’t bonded with Brad - Come on, now… we’ve seen plenty of pics, but this weeks batch showed mutual interaction, affection and amusement with each other.
Just makes you wonder what other theories that will get wrong. ;)

Honey if Z looks like a monkey then there are some beautiful monkeys in this world. Why is it people always want to associate black people with monkeys? I did a paper when I was in college on Blacks in the Bible and I honestly went around to FACULTY and students and asked them where do they think black people came from. The consensus among all of the white FACULTY was that a certain species of monkeys evolved to blacks. Well, being the Biology Major that I was and having a habit of READING the BIBLE for myself-I figured it out myself-so next time you go to a zoo, shave the hair off of a monkey and come back and let me know what you find- Z’s people (Ethiopians, cushites, hamites) are certainly in the Bible-in fact Moses married an ethiopian and GOD struck Aaron and Miriam for having a problem with that-Numbers 12:1-16

You worry too much, and I bet you are not even a relative of Brad, Angie, Madd. Pax. Z and esp. Shiloh.
As AMH is showing today at the theaters, being Brad as the producer and Angie as the star, it must be the worst day for you guys. I understand. Just cool it, okay?
Brad so CLEARLY loves being a family man, dropping off kids to school every day. My hubby just took my 3-yr old to camp on the way to work, too. A man who loves fatherhood never sees it as a chore, but joy and priviledge. Brad is such a happy and fortunate man–and he had everything to do with EARNING this happiness! Congrats on AMH opening, Jolie-Pitt!!
Захара - очаровательная девочка, это слишком очевидно, чтобы отрицать это. А ненавистники - всего лишь завистники…
I love BRAD!!!
Call her whatever you want , while yu haters are working nine to five with your ughly faces and ugly lives, Zee will be all over the world learning laughing and being loved. What do you have to look forward to every morning? Oh, yeah, i forgot…calling a kid a monkey or worse. go right ahead letting the world know this is the best yu have going for you. I bet your mother is real proud of you, you big, great success story.

ADORABLE!!
It’s incredible-I would love to crop Brad and Z’s hands and make a poster out of it-It’s just beautiful-She is such a personable kid-Angie is going to have her hands full with Z and Shiloh! I am a firm believer in the influence of environment-Z has probably developed some of Brad’s mischievousness-I can see those 2 being the jokesters in the family while Angie and Mad seem more serious-What a beautiful little tyke-
Pax is probably so thrilled to be one of the guys-Brad is instinctively a caring, loving dad-
Zee is soo cute and adorable. She looks like the lady in charge of the house.
On the main picture posted by JJ it looks like she is asking Pax ” what is the problem”
Look at her hands.
Such a darling. Pax looks very smart and inquisitive.
You have to love the Brad walk and Swagger. I think him and Mad walk the same way. Loves it!!

MY BAD ..I MEANT “INTERACT”.
Famed film critic Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun Times praises A Mighty Heart.
What is best about A Mighty Heart is that it doesn’t reduce the Daniel Pearl story to a plot, but elevates it to a tragedy. A tragedy that illuminates and grieves for the hatred that runs loose in our world, hatred as a mad dog that attacks everyone. Attacks them for what seems, to the dog, the best of reasons.
Full Review to come later. He ranked it 88% out of %100.
Z is just too cute! I guess now that haters will have to stop saying they never see her smiling. Obviously she’s a happy little kid. And I love the hand-me-downs…not the first time we’ve seen Angie do that. Hmmm…I wonder if Mad is mad because he outgrew his Black Sabbath shirt…
Also, I wonder what Pax finds so fascinating on the ground every day. In the other picture Z seems to be shrugging that she doesn’t know what the big deal is.

A Blow to the Heart
By Ann Hornaday
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, June 22, 2007; Page C01
Amournful sense of inevitability pervades “A Mighty Heart,” in which Angelina Jolie stars as Mariane Pearl, whose husband, Daniel, a Wall Street Journal reporter, was kidnapped and beheaded in Pakistan while his wife and a team of colleagues and investigators frantically tried to find him. The movie, an adaptation of Mariane Pearl’s memoir and directed by Michael Winterbottom, brings those dreadful weeks back with brutally vivid detail as a taut, meticulously crafted police procedural. Part thriller, part melodrama, “A Mighty Heart” recalls last year’s “United 93″ — in its technical prowess and artistry but also in its harrowing emotional arc, one that clearly aims to inspire viewers, though it may just as likely leave them feeling utterly wrung out.
Welcome to the new Cinema of Compulsive Reenactment, wherein excruciatingly painful recent events are rushed to the screen with breathless, almost fetishistic detail, and whose precise aims are subject to interpretation. Is this instant mythologizing a form of catharsis? Closure? Rank exploitation? Or a particularly American, impatient brand of revisionism, designed to create an immediately usable past?
In “A Mighty Heart,” Angelina Jolie is transformed and transforming as the woman whose journalist husband was murdered by terrorists in 2002. (By Peter Mountain — Paramount Vantage Via Associated Pr
These are the philosophical questions that haunt “A Mighty Heart,” and it answers with a degree of subtlety and sophistication that skeptics might find surprising. The film begins on Jan. 23, 2002, the day Danny was taken hostage and a day like any other for the Pearls, both working as journalists in Karachi. (He’s played in the film by Dan Futterman.) Danny is tracking down a lead to a possible connection between al-Qaeda and Richard Reid, the British “shoe bomber”; Mariane, a freelance journalist and six months pregnant, does some interviews, goes shopping for that night’s dinner and checks at regular intervals with Danny by cellphone.
By dinnertime, when he hasn’t come home, the first clouds of apprehension begin to gather. Awareness dawns slowly, then with a terrible, crushing certitude as Danny doesn’t pick up and Mariane makes the first call to the U.S. Embassy. Soon the house the Pearls have been sharing with fellow journalist Asra Nomani (Archie Panjabi), is filled with American diplomats, Karachi police and eventually the FBI, portrayed in one of the film’s few comic flourishes by an amusingly no-nonsense female agent played by Jillian Armenante.
Winterbottom, like his countryman Paul Greengrass (who directed “United 93″), has been experimenting with realism to terrific effect in recent years, with films such as “Welcome to Sarajevo,” “In This World” and “The Road to Guantanamo.” In “A Mighty Heart,” he brings all his talents to bear on a vivid, densely layered portrait, not just of one woman but of a city. With handheld cameras and a fearless sense of urgency and spontaneity, he plunges viewers into the neon-lit thrum and impossible beauty of Karachi (where some scenes were filmed), conveying not only its fascination for foreign correspondents like the Pearls but also the daunting, needle-in-a-haystack task of finding Danny in all that teeming humanity. Even amid the polyglot cacophony and chaos, “A Mighty Heart” skillfully threads viewers through a complicated skein of players, political agendas and dead ends in an investigation that ranges from al-Qaeda to Mossad to Pakistan’s political opponents in India.
Quite wisely, Winterbottom doesn’t get too caught up in the ticktock of Danny’s fatal journey, instead using brief flashbacks to speculate on how his abduction occurred. “A Mighty Heart” instead focuses on Mariane, played by Jolie in brown contact lenses and a diadem of black curls to resemble Mariane, who like Joan Didion in “The Year of Magical Thinking” reacts like any good journalist would to being ambushed by personal horror: She keeps her head, assumes control and takes notes. Like Didion, she’s one cool customer.
Jolie is a star of such super-stratospheric proportions that the chances of her disappearing into a character role would seem slim at best. But it turns out that she is the perfect choice to play Mariane, not only because she delivers a restrained, understated performance but because her persona as a citizen of the world — as a U.N. representative, activist and mother — so seamlessly meshes with the global consciousness that the Pearls represent. She blends just as seamlessly with “A Mighty Heart’s” fine ensemble of supporting actors, including Panjabi and Will Patton as U.S. consul Randall Bennett.(Mariane’s quietly appalled gaze as Bennett extols the virtues of Pakistan’s notorious interrogation methods is a moment of physical eloquence typical of Jolie’s astute, vanity-free performance.)
Mariane and Danny emerge in the film as two people at home no matter where they are on the planet, plunging headlong into the countries they’re covering. They’re not adrenalin junkies, as so many foreign correspondents are characterized, but connection junkies, reveling in vagrant moments of mutual comprehension. Of course, it was precisely comprehension that failed when Danny was murdered for being an American, a journalist and a Jew — a blow to his own ideals that makes the film’s agonizing denouement all the more shattering.
But Mariane refuses to put her husband’s murder in a context of American exceptionalism or even personal outrage; during one of her first television appearances, she notes that during Danny’s captivity several Pakistanis were victims of terror. One gets the idea that for Mariane, her fiercely held humanism isn’t a matter of sentiment but rather seasoned practicality: It’s about accuracy.
A central, even existential contradiction vexes “A Mighty Heart,” which is that one can deeply admire it as a piece of filmmaking and still harbor misgivings about why we need to have these stories packaged for the big screen. If that bigger question will never be easily resolved, “A Mighty Heart” still avoids its genre’s twin pitfalls of gratuitous masochism and cheap sentiment. “United 93,” for all its rigorous refusal to engage in reassuring theatrics, never quite transcended the former; as for “World Trade Center,” which also focused on the events of Sept. 11, 2001, its eagerness to impose redemptive meaning on that day resulted in a surfeit of the latter.
“A Mighty Heart” threads this needle with sober assurance, offering a clear-eyed retelling of Danny Pearl’s murder but finally, in focusing on Mariane’s response, delivering an affecting and, yes, redemptive lesson in moral comportment. Faced with unspeakable grief, Mariane doesn’t give in to xenophobia or selective indignation, but with her best self turns her loss into a plea for the cosmopolitanism she and her husband personified.
One can only hope that the nuance with which the filmmakers make this point won’t be lost on audiences more accustomed to the rhetoric — political and cinematic — of retribution. Ultimately, “A Mighty Heart” is an epic romance, at once doomed and full of hope, about two people in love with the world, even when it didn’t love them back.

Angelina Jolie gives Oscar-caliber performance in ‘A Mighty Heart’
By James Ward
Gannett News Service
Originally posted on June 22, 2007
With all the tabloid headlines, her international baby-adopting jaunts and some awful films, Angelina Jolie’s acting skills have been overshadowed.
In the powerful based-on-true events “A Mighty Heart,” the Oscar-winning actress proves that — at least when she’s giving the right material — she’s a remarkable talent.
How good is Jolie in “A Mighty Heart”? A few minutes into the film, you get sucked into the story and forget you’re watching the star, not an easy accomplishment with all the baggage Jolie brings to the screen.
She plays French journalist Mariane Pearl, who, along with her Wall Street Journal reporter husband Daniel (Dan Futterman), travels to Pakistan in early 2002 — despite the fact she’s six months pregnant — to cover the aftermath of the United States’ invasion of Afghanistan after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
As the movie opens, Daniel has set up a delicate interview with a radical cleric with anti-American ties. He doesn’t return from the interview and is soon feared kidnapped.
Because the film is based on such well-known events — the Pearl kidnapping was covered extensively by all the major networks and newspapers — watching the events unfold is almost frustrating. We know what will happen and feel helpless in the face of the coming tragedy.
Director Michael Winterbottom (”The Road to Guantanamo” and “24 Hour Party People”) downplays the more emotional aspects of the story, though, for a more documentary-like approach. He takes us inside the Pakistani-led investigation, surprising us with both the humanity of the detectives and their brutal tactics.
One character, identified only as the Captain (a wonderful Irrfan Khan, who was also superb as the patriarch in “The Namesake” earlier this year), is so sympathetic and caring to Mariane that when he supervises the torture of a suspected kidnapper it’s even more startling.
Besides Khan’s superb supporting work, Will Patton is memorable as a U.S. embassy security agent who has an almost scary admiration of the blunt Pakistani security investigation techniques.
Good, too, is Denis O’Hare as one of Daniel’s editor who comes to Pakistan to help Mariane. He spends a lot of time reading baby books and worrying that the pregnant Mariane isn’t getting enough to eat. Every journalist should have such a sweet editor.
Winterbottom also effectively uses location shooting — much of the film was shot in Pakistan — to tell his story. The shots of traffic-jammed streets and poverty-stricken slums add to the movie’s power.
But in the end, the movie belongs to Jolie. Her fierce, simple performance is worthy of Oscar consideration. Her performance here is clearly the best of her career. There’s none of her usual on-screen vamping or self-aware performance that has made so many of her recent movies so bad. (Anyone remember her accent in “Alexander”? Shudder.)
Let’s hope that “A Mighty Heart” — it’s certainly not the typical summer release and might be a tough sell for summer moviegoers — finds an audience in the sea of bloated comic-book movies and waterlogged pirate flicks.
Passing Through! Hey lady-miss u 2 dath-I think someone stole your idea up thread-That came straight from U-thieving beyotches! Miss thta mind of yours and oh when the Jane pic came out all I could think of is your fic with Doug and Vince on the phone-You’re sooo talented-

Oh My! How cute are these kids. Absolutely adorable. Z is such a cutie pie…just want to pinch her cheeks. And what a beautiful smile. She really has lots of personality. She’s probably thinking, yeah take my picture, cause I’m beautiful, but don’t mess with me. She’s pointing and saying don’t get too close, just stay right there, o.k :)
Look at how Pax has bonded with Brad in pix#4 with his little hand on his daddy’s shoulder. Z is just a cutie!! She is just so outgoing and verbal. The paps, or those “people” as Z describes them, are really catching her eye lately. Brad is certainly loving being a dad.

Jolie’s ‘Heart’ pumps life into Oscar Chatter
By Gregg Kilday
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - There’s no official starting gun to the annual Oscar race, and the finish line for the 80th Annual Academy Awards isn’t until February 24. But a number of races already have begun — some quietly, some not so quietly.
This weekend, Paramount Vantage is launching “A Mighty Heart,” director Michael Winterbottom’s re-creation of the kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl at the hands of Pakistani militants. Starring Angelina Jolie as Pearl’s wife Mariane, who led the search for her husband, the film debuted in May at Cannes.
As of Thursday, the documentary-like thriller rated an 80 percent positive rating on RottenTomatoes.com, but higher-end critics have been even more positive. Vantage isn’t being shy about using the “O” word: Print ads quote Ben Lyons of E! Entertainment proclaiming, “The early favorite for best picture at this year’s Oscars,” while TV ads also invoke its Oscar-worthiness.
Actually, months from now, when the Oscar campaigns are in high gear, “Heart’s” awards hopes probably will coalesce around Jolie’s performance as the actress succeeds in the tricky job of capturing a real-life woman whose tragic story made headlines in 2002. But a nomination isn’t automatically guaranteed since this year’s best actress field is one of the strongest in years.
Lionsgate already has released Sarah Polley’s “Away From Her,” a portrait of a couple coping with Alzheimer’s, starring a luminous Julie Christie as a woman battling the disease, which could earn the actress the fourth nomination of her career. Picturehouse recently launched “La Vie en Rose,” starring French actress Marion Cotillard as chanteuse Edith Piaf. At the Seattle International Film Festival, which concluded last weekend, Cotillard was rewarded with the audience award for best actress, a harbinger of future trips she could well make to the winner’s podium.
Next weekend, another possible contender enters the field when Focus Features debuts “Evening,” Lajos Koltai’s screen adaptation of the Susan Minot novel. Vanessa Redgrave stars as a dying woman looking back over her life.
And that’s just the best actress heat, which is destined to get more crowded as the year progresses and other films — like Universal Pictures’ “The Golden Age,” in which Cate Blanchett reprises the role of Queen Elizabeth I, which earned her an Oscar nomination for “Elizabeth” in 1999 — enter the field.
At the same time, other categories are just beginning to take shape. Next weekend also will see Disney’s release of Pixar’s “Ratatouille,” which is earning rave advance reviews. Although just nine reviews have been posted on RottenTomatoes to date, they have registered a resounding 100% approval rating. There’s still a wide array of animated films to come: among others, 20th Century Fox’s “The Simpsons Movie”; DreamWorks’ “Bee Movie”; and Sony Pictures Classics’ “Persepolis,” which uses animation to tell a very grown-up story of a young Iranian woman caught up in the Islamic Revolution. So “Ratatouille” isn’t necessarily a shoo-in, but by summer’s end, it’s likely to have established itself as the animation front-runner.
However it ultimately fares at the box office and with critics, Michael Moore’s “Sicko,” which also moves into wide release next weekend, is sure to kick-start discussions about the documentary race. The film itself already has elbowed its way into the national conversation.

hey there,

first of all, i have to say that i adore this website and it’s policy but i think they’ve gone too far with this story about angelina and brad taking their kids to school in prague. i think we’ve all figured out so far that they are going to do that EVERY DAY. that doesn’t mean we have to monitor that?!?
i just think that’s not quite normal,

No bribe in the world could make me go and pay to watch Angelina in a movie. No way! I haven’t even seen Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Brad said it was just a turtle crossing the road and Pax was fascinated, but Z was ready to go to school!
Z is FIERCE. I love how she points at the camera! She OWNS the paparazzi. Whoever said she’s a survivor is hella right. It’s hard to believe that when Angie first adopted her she was near-death. She’s gorgeous. Loving Pax too - he’s a little more subdued, but nonetheless a cool dude
She looks like a big 2 year old. Despite all the bad rumors that has been said about B&A there is no dening that these kids are healthy and beautiful. Z was extremely ill when they brought her home, look at her now…healthy and absolutely beautiful.
I agree with what someone said earlier - she is walking with Brad Pitt and yet I can’t stop being charmed by Zee. Does anyone understand what she is saying in the video that makes everyone laugh?
The kids are adorable!!, Zee is a funny little girl and Pax is so cute!!. Brad is a hot daddy.

She is hella-amazing. It does my heart such good to heyheyhey-see this amazing family. The way they eat and breathe and walk. They are SO incredible!! Then disgusting Angie has to ruin everything by stealing someone’s husband while making out with her brother and carrying around a vial of blood and cutting herself. Totally normal family. Also, it’s “ya hear?” (as in “do you hear?”), not “ya here” (as in “I’m so dumb I can’t even get a simply saying correct).
I am sorry Z looks like a boy in those clothes. Angie just has to try to be so different and not have her wear girl clothes. The family is just so blah and dull with the same 2 colors black and brown .. She wears black to mask her darkness, I wish she would give the kids a chance to shine bright instead of look like they are all gender confused.

Z sure knows how to point them out now and is apparently getting used to them. Either that, or the paps got smart and hired a baby wrangler/photog or something to accompany them on these constant ambush shoots — someone to get the super smiley reactions we’re getting from Z lately.
Either way, I’m glad that her other side is coming out.
BTW, it was cute to hear Brad in the video acknowledge Z’s pap discovery by laughing and saying, “Yeah. They’re everywhere, aren’t they?” Not only that, but let’s not overlook the fact that we got a taste of Zee’s actual voice !! Sounds so sweet. I can imagine how she sounded when she asked her reported crush, Adam Pearl, “Do you want a really fun drink? It has berries and everything!”
Sooo cute I can’t stand it !!
Then again, who wouldn’t have a crush on that little cutie pie Adam. I could just eat him up !! :-)

Jolie’s star turn weighs heavy on ‘A Mighty Heart’
By Phil Villarreal
Pvillarreal@azstarnet.com
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 06.21.2007
“A Mighty Heart” could have been a worthy memorial for journalist Daniel Pearl, who was kidnapped and killed by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002, but it plays as a pandering vanity project for Angelina Jolie. Instead of exploring Pearl’s life story or attempting to dramatize his experiences in terrorist captivity for several days, director Michael Winterbottom abandons Pearl (played by Dan Futterman in his brief screentime) in favor of Jolie as Mariane Pearl, Daniel’s pregnant widow.
Mariane’s story, while poignant and heartbreaking, doesn’t make for compelling cinema. She and her supporters stew in miserable anticipation while they comfort one another, make phone calls and computer searches to investigate the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping, and await word from the terrorists or authorities.
Basically the film is about a bunch of sad, frustrated people sitting around waiting for the inevitable. Occasional flashbacks to Daniel and Mariane’s wedding don’t do enough to make it feel as though you know the couple. Mariane desperately wants to know what’s going on with her husband, and so does the audience.
Occasional cutaways show American authorities sifting through Pakistani corruption and disorganization to get to the truth, but the viewer is kept just as much in the dark as Mariane and her friends are.
The more compelling story is playing out offscreen: Terrorists kidnapped Daniel, a Wall Street Journal reporter investigating terrorism in Pakistan, while he was pursuing an interview on Jan. 23, 2002. Daniel, 38, was beheaded Feb. 1, 2002, his body cut into 10 pieces.
In fleeting asides, we learn that Daniel, a nonreligious man of Jewish descent, may have been targeted for his heritage, as well as Pakistani whispers that insisted he was an American spy. Daniel reportedly tried to escape at least two times, and one of his attempts led to his murder.
Moviegoers may expect the film to explain what happened to Daniel in those 10 days, whether the material is inspired by hard facts or reasonable extrapolation of what is known. But Winterbottom gives you almost nothing.
It seems as though the main objective is getting Jolie, the movie’s lone bankable star, as much screentime as possible. The meat of the Daniel tale is cast aside in favor of stagnant misery.
As usual, Jolie turns in a rousing performance, but the better she is, the harder it is to watch. Mariane’s wails of despair when she learns of her husband’s fate are almost too painful to endure.
Winterbottom’s rickety handheld shots strive for a documentarylike immediacy, but they only make your stomach upset. That matches the cumulative effect of “A Mighty Heart.”

You’re RIGHT!!! he is lucky to start a family at 41 and became a father at 42.
If he had stayed in his marriage, he will starting a family at age 60…or maybe NEVER!

but you brangelina fans keep answering them back which is what they want.they want you to be bothered by their cruel comments , they need attetion and thats what they want .the only time i would actually answer a hater is if they crossed the line by saying something about the kids or angie..other than that. leave them alone and let them talk to them selves evantually they will leave themselves after realizing nobody cares what they are saying and wont try to bother the next time.even if they dont give up just ignore them, they will repeat the same thing over and over again but its not gonna work

Take That Family Sci!
Zahara made a bold rebuttal against Little Sci the other day for baby cuteness, now her family is showing the GMD how to make a photo opp much less obvious.
Here are Brad and Angelina emerging from their home in the woods to walk their children to school in Prague. Check out Maddox’s head – looks like they’ve freshened up his MaddHawk. But how he’s grown! Younger brother Pax appears as though he’s put on some weight. Am particularly fond of the shot of him reaching for his mum in the rain. I wonder if he’s fluent in English yet. Kids learn fast. And kids make fun drawings. Angelina is holding some creative green colouring – I have on my fridge something similar from our nephew Noah who drew for us a castle complete with a moat. He’s very clever.
And finally, after dropping off the brood, the Pitts head home hand in hand hopefully for some Jungle Sex in Eastern Europe.
Now why is it that none of us believe Tom and Katie are doing the same?

She is hella-amazing. It does my heart such good to heyheyhey-see this amazing family. The way they eat and breathe and walk. They are SO incredible!! Then disgusting Angie has to ruin everything by stealing someone’s husband while making out with her brother and carrying around a vial of blood and cutting herself. Totally normal family. Also, it’s “ya hear?” (as in “do you hear?”), not “ya here” (as in “I’m so dumb I can’t even get a simply saying correct).
**********************************************
Didn’t someone already tell you to stop posting under another posters name? Stop it already! Please note: if anyone ever posts something negative about BAMPZS under the name “Scooby Doo”, be aware that it is NOT really me!
Thought I’d throw myself into this hater-infected mess once again - RESPECT YOUR MOTHER refers to the Planet Earth. I’ve seen that shirt a million times. And I LOVE the way they dress the kids. They’re dressed to play and have fun, not dressed up like little dolls for display. I have two kids and they’re not happy if they’re pressed and primped to perfection. They hate it.
I’m sorry I’m a fraud sometimes, and coward. Z has the cutes chin when she smiles, how did that happen.

I hope to see the pictures of the whole family in Prague. I have time to check the site again, my niece & her family are back to Orlando before flying back to Canada tomorrow. How I wished the Brangelina family will spend their Summer vacation here in Florida. Oh, my daughter & her husband are back home from Germany, she was asking me this morning where they are now, Iam making my daughter interested to Brangelina too. I told her to check out Pittwatch. com or JustJared.com. If she is not busy at school work, she may check it out, she knows I’m a big Brangelina fan. It gives me inspiration to know the Brangelina family are doing great & having fun at the same time rearing their children as a couple. Lovely, lovely couple. Fans go out & watch A Mighty Heart today, I will tomorrow.

Memries,
Like the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures,
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? could we?
Memries, may be beautiful and yet
Whats too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So its the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember…
The way we were…
The way we were…

Sometimes I feel I’ve got to
Run away, I’ve got to
Get away from the pain you drive into
The heart of me
The love we share
Seems to go nowhere
And I’ve lost my life
For I toss and turn
I can’t sleep at night
Once I ran to you
Now I run from you
This tainted love you’ve given
I gave you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that’s not nearly all
Tainted love
Tainted love
Sometimes I feel I’ve got to
Run away, I’ve got to
Get away, ’cause you don’t really want
Any more from me
To make things right
You need someone
To hold you tight
And you think love is to pray
But I’m sorry, I don’t pray that way
Once I ran to you
Now I run from you
This tainted love you’ve given
I gave you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that’s not nearly all
Tainted love
Tainted love
Don’t touch me please
I cannot stand the way you tease
Babe I love you though you hurt me so
Now I’m gonna pack my things and go
Tainted love
Tainted love
Tainted love
Tainted love
Touch me baby
Tainted love
Touch me baby
Tainted love

Tainted love
Tainted love
Baby, baby, baby
Where did our love go

Jolie’s “Heart” pumps life into Oscar chatter
By Gregg Kilday
Jun 22, 2007
Although just nine reviews have been posted on RottenTomatoes to date, they have registered a resounding 100 percent approval rating.

But I hope you become a happier person for your own sake. Life’s too short to fill your life with hate.
why are some of u haters using your friends names. you a daft you know!!!!!
When will my lil Zee stop wearing Mad’s old clothes and start dressing like a girl? I can’t wait to see her with a pink little dress with some pink barrettes (sp?). Cute little girl, though.
to me too:
shiloh grew up with zahara, and i meant that zahara will obviously influence her sister.and you dont make any sense because when people make friends.they make em because they have something in common with them and how about having a boyfriend or girlfriend,…dont you get to gather with them b ecause they have something in common.like brad and angie have something in common…traveling and acting and their hotness lol and sometimes people can look like other people physically and not be related.
Thanks to all of the people who posted the wonderful reviews for A Mighty Heart! I have so enjoyed reading them on this and the last thread.
We are going to see it this weekend. We are going tohave to drive a ways to see it, but we’re making it into couple time and combining it with some other things we want to do.
Thank goodness Brad and Angie are not the kind of celebs who let all the pessimists, scyhophants, and naysayers penetrate their world. Their relationship is as strong and happy as always and their struggles appear to continue to bond all the Joile-Pitts together.
Engaging the haters is such a futile exercise, as I once again witnessed yesterday for myself. I have tried to talk to these pseudo-tryrants, and it’s always the same:
1. They post some outrageous lie just to get a rise out of someone.
2. One of us takes the bait, responds, presents a string of fact-based info, sets the record straight, refuting said information.
3. Instead of an intelligent rebuttal, haters respond back by just calling people names and saying our post doesn’t make any sense to them.
4. Shampoo, rinse, repeat…over and over.
You can’t even call these exchanges “arguments” because an argument is when two people, of opposing points of view, each present their ideas in logical back and forth discussion. Haters simmply can’t read and comprehend. They don’t want to pay attention and actually have to follow a line of thought, no…that’s far too difficult for them.
I come here for the wonderful posters who never fail to present themselves well and always have something interesting to say. I have no problem with anyone whose opinion is different than mine on any subject as long as they can present their ideas intelligently and back it up with facts from reliable sources…heck, I’d welcome it, as it makes life more interesting. But all we get from these yahoos is the lowest of the lowlifes that don’t know how to do anything but hurl insults and regurgitate tabloid lies. So, I am going to hereafter not bother with answering trolls (it’s damn hard, I know!). Sure, they are entitled to their opinion, but they are not entitled to waste my time, which is all that I have done by attempting to talk to them.
Thanks again to all you positive posters and J-P lovers!
A Conversation with Angelina Jolie
She’s one of the most famous women in the world. And in A Mighty Heart, opening June 22, Angelina Jolie plays another famous face: Mariane Pearl, who transfixed the world when her husband Danny, a journalist for the Wall Street Journal, was kidnapped and murdered by Islamic extremists. FP spoke recently with Jolie about the experience.
FOREIGN POLICY: Danny Pearl’s murder is so often discussed in the context of Islamic terrorism. Yet Mariane did a great job of suggesting in her book that yes, it’s about Islamic terrorism and the post-9/11 environment, but what it is really about is the lack of connections and dialogue.
Angelina Jolie: I agree. The reality is that, as hard as we try, we’ll never get as close to the beauty of her book and her real voice. Her voice at this moment is so important because she is somebody who, when confronted by such brutality and terrorism, somehow kept clear and was able to see the bigger picture. She didn’t jump to fear and hate, with good guys and bad guys. There are victims on both sides of conflict. She understood that she had to fight for the future of her son. Hopefully, the movie will inspire people to go get the book.
There is a clear choice she makes for herself and for her son: not to be terrorized. She has a way of dealing with [her husband’s murder] that is extraordinary. And it was extraordinary the first time I saw her being interviewed on CNN years ago and thought, who is that woman? And how can she—days after her husband was killed in such a horrible way—what is it that makes her able to say, “Ten other people died this month and they were all Pakistani and they’re suffering as much as we are?”
FP: When people walk out of the cinema after having seen A Mighty Heart, what’s the feeling you’d like them to walk away with?
AJ: I think it will speak to many different people, I assume in a different way, depending on where you’re coming from. There is so much fear being thrown out there and aggression and talk of terrorism. We don’t understand all the details, and we’re not focusing on understanding the history of situations.
FP: Was Mariane ever on the set?
AJ: No. Anytime I wanted to ask her a question about the movie, I couldn’t find her, because she was often doing her journalism around the world and focusing on women’s issues. She never came to set. If I ever could ever email her or get any conversation going, it was as if a film wasn’t happening. She would email about a great woman she met running an NGO in Cambodia and something about the kids. I think she had to kind of trust that it was in the right hands, with the right people. And she also, I don’t think, could come near the set because it was recreations of things that would have been too difficult for her.
FP: Mariane said that at length when we spoke earlier. She hadn’t wanted to make a movie, and it was very strange for her to see it on the screen. But she did feel that it was a great group of people that she could trust.
AJ: Which made us all very nervous. When you get trust from a woman like Mariane for something like that, you just think, “Oh, no.”
FP: You have been a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations for several years, helping to raise awareness to the plight of the world’s refugees. Do you feel the advocacy work that you do influences the projects you choose?
AJ: Sometimes. Right now, I’m doing a very wild action movie, playing an assassin. Mind you, I am killing people who are going to kill other people, so I somehow consider that fine. But I’m an entertainer and I’ve got kids. It’s like Mariane: She’s a very serious, very intelligent woman. She’s a well-traveled, deep-thinking woman. But she’s also got one of the driest, funniest senses of humor. She can be really goofy. And she can be wild and fun, and the most exciting person at the party. And she’s a sexy woman, too. So yes, with films, I’ll do serious films, but I’ll want to jump around and be physical.
Angelina Jolie is an Academy Award-winning actress. A Mighty Heart is in theaters June 22.

Why cant some of u fans post some links so that we dont bother our selves answering the Chinnifer’s!!!!!!!
I woke up and called this morning,
the tone of your voice was a warning
that you don’t care for me anymore.
I made up the bed we sleep in.
I looked at the clock when you creep in.
It’s 6 AM and I’m alone.
Did you know when you go it’s the perfect ending,
to the bad day I was just beginning.
When you go, all I know is you’re my favorite mistake.
Your friends act sorry for me.
They watch you pretend to adore me.
But I am no fool to this game.
Now here comes your secret lover,
she’ll be unlike any other,
until your guilt goes up in flames.
Did you know when you go it’s the perfect ending,
to the bad day I’d gotten used to spending.
When you go, all I know is you’re my favorite mistake
You’re my favorite mistake.
Well maybe nothing lasts forever,
even when you stay together.
I don’t need forever after, but it’s your laughter won’t let me go
so I’m holding on this way.
Did you know could you tell you were the only one
that I ever loved?
Now everything’s so wrong.
Did you see me walking by, did it ever make you cry?
Now you’re my favorite mistake
Yeah you’re my favorite mistake
You’re my favorite mistake

It’s impossible to watch “A Mighty Heart,” the story of the murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, without reflecting on whether one should be watching at all. The film raises questions similar to those posed by “United 93” and “World Trade Center,” which both addressed the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
At what point can such scenarios be comfortably appreciated as entertainment? And just what sort of response is appropriate? Based on the book by Pearl’s widow, Mariane, the film has at least one thing going for it: It’s a political thriller. As such, we’re provided with a familiar framework through which to process the story.
Its other strengths include an unforgettable performance by Angelina Jolie as Mariane, and the incisive, unsentimental direction of Michael Winterbottom (“Welcome to Sarajevo”).
Jolie holds down the film’s center, imbuing Mariane with an arresting blend of vulnerability and testiness. Her anguish is palpable as the search proceeds from hope to despair for Daniel Pearl (a thoroughly convincing Dan Futterman), who was kidnapped and murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in early 2002.
Winterbottom’s gritty sensibility and feel for geopolitical realities is perfect for the film. There’s no room for Hollywood gloss — and no need for it.
Jolie has been criticized for taking on the role of a woman of color (Mariane Pearl is of Afro-Cuban and Dutch ancestry), but her impassioned performance is likely to placate the naysayers — and earn her considerable, much-deserved attention come Oscar season.

It doesn’t matter, am STILL going to watch the movie!!
I don’t understand what kind of man can stay silent while the mother of his kids is dragged through the mud for 2+ years for something HE did. I am not even a man (or a lesbian) but if I was in his situation you best believe I would have cleared her name long ago. If not for her the children. I dont understand how Angelina of all people could stay with a man that is so weak and then pimp him as a great man who she loves. I cant be a fan of a couple like this… because of Brad.
I LOVE Brad, Angie, and the kids. They RULE! Go see AMH this weekend!
God please vindicate, Angelina, she’s great.

There you GO girl!!! You have my full support!
LET GO, GO AND WATCH THE WAY WE WERE ON YOUR ROOM.
Memries,
Like the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures,
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? could we?
Memries, may be beautiful and yet
Whats too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So its the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember…
The way we were…
The way we were…

All the haters against AMH are terrorists or their supporters. The members of Al-Qaeda are perhaps welcome to you!
whether you watch AMH or not, your choice. But to knock AMH down on every movie’s site not watching the movie proves that you support Al-Aaeda.

Angelina Jolie truly a ‘Heart’ stopper
By Bruce Newman, MEDIANEWS STAFF
Article Last Updated: 06/22/2007 04:07:28 AM PDT
THE subtitle of Mariane Pearl’s memoir about the kidnapping and murder of her husband — “The Brave Life and Death of My Husband, Danny Pearl” — would surely come as a surprise to anyone who sees only the film adaptation of her book, “A Mighty Heart,” in which Angelina Jolie plays Mariane.
Such is the force of Jolie’s performance, and the blinding effect of Hollywood star power, that the mighty heart of the story has been transformed from his to hers.
Jolie wears Mariane’s determination, her fierce French indignation and her cool calculation on the sleeve of her hijab, in full view of a houseful of Pakistani policemen who show up soon after her husband disappears.
Daniel Pearl, then the Wall Street Journal’s South Asia bureau chief, had come to Karachi to pursue a story about shoe bomber Richard Reid, who had been arrested a month earlier for trying to blow up a passenger jet.
Pearl (played by Dan Futterman) is following a lead from a shadowy informant named Bashir (Alyy Khan) when he goes missing. Like many foreign correspondents, Pearl works the frontier between outrageous risk and reward, so when Mariane — who is herself a seasoned reporter — sets out to find him, she is told by people who don’t appear to mean a word they’re saying that he will be fine.
Most of “A Mighty Heart” is taken up with Mariane’s struggle to keep her husband alive, and for nearly two hours Jolie does this with a performance at once as subtle and ferocious
as any in recent memory. With the year now half-over, can it possibly be too early to unblushingly nominate her for an Oscar?
Director Michael Winterbottom has given his film the look and sense of urgency of a documentary. This undoubtedly isn’t as easy as Winterbottom makes it seem, because Danny Pearl’s disappearance was followed by five agonizing weeks of waiting. Shooting in what often appears to be available light, and with a hand-held camera that he has tamed sufficiently to prevent motion sickness, Winterbottom keeps the picture moving along like a thriller.
He also manages to maintain a degree of suspense about Pearl’s fate, even though the story made headlines around the world in 2002. Daniel Pearl’s abduction and brutal execution by terrorists marked a turning point in the global drama that was set in motion on Sept. 11, 2001. Mariane Pearl had become pregnant at almost the same time the terrorists struck on 9/11 and was great with child when her husband vanished six months later.
Through Jolie, she maintains a steely equanimity during the crisis. Following an interview on CNN in which she talks without obvious emotion about her missing husband, someone observes how well she has “held herself together,” a remark which has about it a faint whiff of disapproval: A more obviously loving wife might have cried.
The investigation is conducted by a newly-formed Pakistani counter-terrorism unit, led by a taciturn cop called Captain (Indian star Irrfan Khan). When Mariane later approaches the American embassy for help, it appears for a time that the Pakistanis may be shown up as bumblers. One government official declines to assist in the search because he believes the kidnapping is a plot by India’s intelligence agency to embarrass Pakistan.
The film uses actual news footage from the event sparingly, and only in ways that not only heighten the feeling that these terrible events did happen but that they are happening again, right before our eyes.
When the kidnappers send word that Danny Pearl’s treatment will be no better than the terrorist prisoners at Guantanamo Bay — America’s own Devil’s Island — then-Secretary of State Colin Powell is shown insisting that the detainees at Gitmo are being treated humanely. (Just this month, Powell seemed to have reversed field and said that the prison should be closed immediately.)
Winterbottom does a wonderful job of showing the tumult and teem of the Karachi streets, the density of the chaos that any investigator would have to peer through to find the missing American. Like the team that is chasing Danny Pearl, we get only glimpses of him, bound and with a gun to his head. Writer John Orloff uses brief flashbacks of Danny and Mariane to give us some sense of who he was. But as “A Mighty Heart” continues pulsating in real time, Danny begins to feel like a construct more than a person, remaining as elusive on screen as he does in captivity.
This is Mariane’s story, and no matter how hard she tries to hold him close, she can feel her husband slipping away. When Mariane reveals to the Captain that Danny is Jewish, you can see his shoulders slump slightly and her spine stiffen. The almost imperceptible exchange passes in an instant, but Jolie and Khan manage to make it say everything about Danny’s chances.
Jolie’s work as an actress has often been a captive of her celebrity, making it difficult to see past her pillowy lips to the craft. Perhaps it took the constraints of docudrama to uncage her less obvious gifts, but this is her finest performance, and likely to be the equal of any given by an actress this year. She holds herself back for as long as she must, and then in one great howl of grief and rage, lets us into Mariane’s broken heart. Her mighty heart.

Angelina has put herself on the line for that basta.rd . Her charity work is questioned and that has to be the worst. She deserves so much better imo. I really cant wait for them to breakup so Angelina can be on her own. I feel she will be better without the weakest man in the world known as Brad Pitt. He has dragged her down and left her DROWNING in media negativity while saving himself. How can Angelina and her friends not see this?

Spending all my nights
All my money going out on the town
Doing anything just to get you off of my mind
But when the morning comes
I’m right back where I started again
Trying to forget you is just a waste of time
Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can’t live without you
All day long, wearing a mask of false bravado
Trying to keep up the smile that hides a tear
But as the sun goes down
I get that empty feeling again
How I wish to God that you were here
Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can’t live without you
Now that I put it all together
Give me the chance to make you see
Have you used up all the love in your heart
Nothing left for me
Ain’t there nothing left for me
Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, listen, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can’t live without you
I was wrong, and I just can’t live
REVIEW
‘HEART’ in the right place
Angelina Jolie masters the part of a pregnant wife facing the unthinkable
By Michael Phillips
Tribune movie critic
Published June 22, 2007
‘A MIGHTY HEART’ ***
We know how “A Mighty Heart” ends. Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal’s South Asia bureau chief, died at the hands of his captors in early 2002, in Karachi, Pakistan. His wife, Mariane Pearl, survived him and later gave birth to their son, Adam.
We know this. Even so, when Angelina Jolie, who plays Mariane in director Michael Winterbottom’s lean and swift account, unleashes her anguish upon learning the news of Danny Pearl’s beheading, the impact is torrential, and Winterbottom’s documentary-style approach pays off. The film isn’t much interested in the usual biopic peaks and valleys, or in hyping the punishing limbo of Mariane’s life in the weeks after the kidnapping, and before confirmation of her husband’s death. But when Jolie cracks open this key moment, it’s really something.
Here’s how Pearl herself (writing with Sarah Crichton in her memoir “A Mighty Heart”) describes that cry of anguish: “I slam the door, and with all my might, I cry out. I have never screamed like this before. I can feel that I’m screaming, but the sound that rips up out of me is alien, as if everything is coming out of me. I sound like an animal caught in a bone-crushing trap.”
Up until this moment, which is handled just right in the film, Jolie’s Mariane has been like a tuning fork, emitting a hum of worry and contained rage. When the news hits her, the resulting emotions are enormous but not indulgent. It feels real and messy.
“A Mighty Heart” is a worthy film on a great, tragic subject. Unlike Winterbottom’s recent film “The Road to Guantanamo,” which dazzled with its technique but left a lot of vagaries hanging in the dusty air, it’s a lucid narrative, revealing another side of terrorist-shadowed life on this planet after Sept. 11, 2001, and after the Bush administration’s decision to invade Iraq.
Screenwriter John Orloff doesn’t go for “scope” or even much context; he’s content to put one foot in front of the other, following Ms. Pearl’s days and weeks after the kidnapping. Meetings with her husband’s Wall Street Journal colleagues, including editor John Bussey (Denis O’Hare), intertwine with Mariane’s wary relationship with Pakistan’s head of counter-terrorism (Irrfan Khan). Dispatches from an earnest if ineffective American diplomatic security agent (Will Patton) are balanced by Mariane’s friendship with the Pearls’ fellow journalist, Asra (Archie Panjabi).
The end is near throughout “A Mighty Heart.” Winterbottom, who is very good at hurtling chaos, has just enough taste to keep his subjects honest and their pain free of melodrama. If there’s a dimension missing from the film, it’s this: Winterbottom is so focused on keeping the narrative trackable and the audience inside Mariane’s plight, he simplifies here and there. The director does not quite achieve what Paul Greengrass did with “United 93,” which was a stunning amalgam of documentary fakery and dramatic intensity. The Pearl film’s concerns require a different, more intimate sense of suffering. Yet I wonder if a longer version of the film wouldn’t have allowed for more detours and blind alleys and truthful emotional ambiguities. The Pearls’ marriage (Dan Futterman plays Danny, largely in flashbacks) has a slightly idealized glow about it.
As it stands, then, “A Mighty Heart” leads inexorably to Jolie’s magnificent scream, which is more — deeper — than a mere Oscar-baiting moment. The film is most vivid and immediate when Jolie, her character’s patience and facade cracking, accesses a full tangle of impulses at once. She is a uniquely intense screen presence. We can only imagine what Mariane’s ordeal was like. Jolie and Winterbottom come closer than most could have in imagining it for us.
MPAA rating: R (for language).

I really cant wait for them to breakup so Angelina can be on her own. I feel she will be better without the weakest man in the world known as Brad Pitt. He has dragged her down and left her DROWNING in media negativity while saving himself. How can Angelina and her friends not see this?
++++++++++++++++++
Angie sees it, she will be yelling this song to the top of her lungs
Take a bow, the night is over
This masquerade is getting older
Light are low, the curtains down
Theres no one here
[theres no one here, theres no one in the crowd]
Say your lines but do you feel them
Do you mean what you say when theres no one around [no one around]
Watching you, watching me, one lonely star
[one lonely star you dont know who you are]
Chorus:
Ive always been in love with you [always with you]
I guess youve always known its true [you know its true]
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye
Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye
Make them laugh, it comes so easy
When you get to the part
Where youre breaking my heart [breaking my heart]
Hide behind your smile, all the world loves a clown
[just make em smile the whole world loves a clown]
Wish you well, I cannot stay
You deserve an award for the role that you played [role that you played]
No more masquerade, youre one lonely star
[one lonely star and you dont know who you are]
(chorus, repeat)
Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye
All the world is a stage [world is a stage]
And everyone has their part [has their part]
But how was I to know which way the storyd go
How was I to know youd break
[youd break, youd break, youd break]
Youd break my heart
Ive always been in love with you
[Ive always been in love with you]
Guess youve always known
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye
(chorus)
Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye
Say good-bye

Gotta move, gotta get out
Gotta leave this place, gotta find some place
Some other place, some brand new place
Some place where each face that I see
Won’t be staring back at me
Telling me what to be and how to be it
Some place where I can just be me
Gotta move, got to get out
Gotta leave this town, gotta find some town
Some big new town, some bright new town
Some new town with new places, new lives
And most of all some new faces
Gotta find a man, a new man
A man who won’t worry ’bout where I go
A man who wont ask how I learned what I know
A man who will know that you’ve gotta be free
A man who will know when to just let me be
Gotta move, gotta get out
Gotta change my life, gotta find my life
I’ll find me a place in some new town and baby
And when I find me that new place, then maybe ours,
Gotta leave this town
Gotta leave this place
Gotta find a new man…
Gotta move!
Movie review: Jolie gives a powerful performance in the understated ‘A Mighty Heart’
The Associated Press
NEW YORK: When you’re an international superstar — when you’re Julia Roberts or Tom Cruise, for example — it can be difficult for audiences to accept you in challenging roles, difficult for them to dissociate the persona from the performance. Lately this phenomenon also has been true of Angelina Jolie, with her well-documented adventures in adoption and globe-trotting with Brad Pitt.
But in “A Mighty Heart” as Mariane Pearl, the wife of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, Jolie reminds us that she really can act, that the supporting-actress Oscar for “Girl, Interrupted” wasn’t a fluke, that there is indeed substance beneath the sex appeal. She deeply immerses herself and, as a result, stands tall as the film’s graceful heart and soul. It’s pretty hard to imagine that her name won’t be at the forefront again come awards season this year.
(Likely to get overshadowed in the mountain of praise Jolie will duly receive is Dan Futterman as Pearl himself. The Academy Award-nominated screenwriter of “Capote” only gets about a half-dozen scenes to give us an impression of who this determined journalist was, mostly in flashbacks, and he does so with subtlety and intelligence.)
Director Michael Winterbottom (”24 Hour Party People,” “Welcome to Sarajevo”) wisely applies his trademark documentary-style approach, making us feel the building tension and dread as a multicultural coalition of investigators and journalists drops everything to track down Pearl’s kidnappers. (The unadorned, fly-on-the-wall camerawork comes from longtime Winterbottom collaborator Marcel Zyskind. John Orloff wrote the no-nonsense screenplay based on Mariane Pearl’s memoir, “A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny.”)
Like the stylistically and thematically similar “United 93,” this is a film that clearly needed no dramatic embellishment. And like “United 93,” we know the devastating ending from the moment we walk in, yet may find ourselves silently, futilely hoping that things will turn out otherwise. Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and beheaded by Islamic militants because he was Jewish, and the killing was videotaped. Thankfully, though, we don’t have to see it.
But being aware of his outcome makes each early moment sadly meaningful — the image of Danny pulling away in a taxi for his fateful meeting while researching shoe bomber Richard Reid, a casual mention that he might be late for dinner, a perfunctory “I love you” on the cell phone before saying goodbye.
Once Danny fails to return to the home where they’re staying in Karachi, Pakistan, on the night of Jan. 23, 2002, Mariane — herself a journalist for French radio — puts her skills to use trying to determine what might have happened to him. She is six months pregnant with their first child, a son Danny wanted to name Adam, but she moves quickly and efficiently. At her side from the start is his longtime friend and colleague, Asra Nomani (Archie Panjabi), but as the hours tick away and the situation grows more grim, their circle expands to include investigators, editors and ambassadors.
Winterbottom puts us smack in the middle of them, gives us a seat at the table as they piece together names and faces, times and places. But that doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll always be clued into what’s going on. The sensation of realism that permeates every frame of this film means that we also experience the same chaos these people endure; it can be frustrating but, then again, making us omniscient wouldn’t make any sense.
Leading the investigation is the head of Pakistan’s counterterrorism unit, a man known as Captain (Irrfan Khan, with tremendous presence) who turns out to be more caring and sympathetic than he initially appears. He orders his men to scatter through Karachi’s crowded streets, dark alleys and hidden back rooms, rounding up the usual suspects.
This, by necessity, takes us away from Jolie. We truly miss her presence, and when she’s gone, “A Mighty Heart” can get a bit draggy. For a big chunk in the middle it feels like a standard crime drama — though it’s a strikingly crafted and stirring one.
“A Mighty Heart,” a Paramount Vantage release, runs 108 minutes. Three stars out of four.

Missouri Fan,
here is the quote i posted in the other thread.
Confucius says, “Be a lotus.”
Which means , no matter how ugly, how evil, and how sinful everyone around you might become, do not allow yourself to be stained. A lotus remains beautiful even as it lingers in the filthy waters of the pond. Don’t be contaminated, do not be influenced by worthless means. Remain radiant among the shadows of darkness.
Angelina is like a lotus flower.

ANGELINA JOLIE CAPTURES HEART AND DETERMINATION OF MARIANE PEARL
By Bruce Newman
Mercury News
Article Launched: 06/21/2007 03:33:51 PM PDT
The subtitle of Mariane Pearl’s memoir about the kidnapping and murder of her husband - “The Brave Life and Death of My Husband, Danny Pearl” - would surely come as a surprise to anyone who sees only the film adaptation of her book, “A Mighty Heart,” in which Angelina Jolie plays Mariane.
Daniel Pearl, then the Wall Street Journal’s South Asia bureau chief, had come to Karachi in pursuit of a story about shoe bomber Richard Reid, who had been arrested a month earlier for trying to blow up a passenger jet.
Pearl (played by Dan Futterman) is following a lead from a shadowy informant named Bashir (Alyy Khan) when he goes missing. Like many foreign correspondents, Pearl works the frontier between outrageous risk and reward, so when Mariane - herself a seasoned reporter - sets out to find him, she is told by people who don’t appear to mean a word they’re saying that he will be fine. Don’t worry about a thing.
Most of “A Mighty Heart” is taken up with Mariane’s struggle to keep her husband alive, and for nearly two hours, Jolie does this with a performance at once as subtle and ferocious as any in recent memory. With the year now half over, can it possibly be too early to unblushingly nominate her for an Oscar?
Director Michael Winterbottom has given his film the look, and sense of urgency, of a documentary. This undoubtedly isn’t as easy as Winterbottom makes it seem, because Danny Pearl’s disappearance was followed by five agonizing weeks of waiting. Shooting in what often appears to be available light, and with a handheld camera that he has tamed sufficiently to prevent motion sickness, Winterbottom keeps the picture moving along like a thriller.
He also manages to maintain a degree of suspense about Pearl’s fate, even though the story made headlines around the world in 2002. Daniel Pearl’s abduction and brutal execution by terrorists - a videotape revealed he was beheaded by his captors - marked a turning point in the global drama that was set in motion on Sept. 11, 2001. Mariane Pearl had become pregnant at almost the same time the terrorists struck on Sept. 11, and was nearly six months pregnant when her husband vanished into the slums of the world’s second-most populous city.
Through Jolie, she maintains a steely equanimity during the crisis. Following an interview on CNN in which she talks about her missing husband without obvious emotion, someone observes how well she has “held herself together,” a remark which has about it a faint whiff of disapproval: A more obviously loving wife might have cried.
The investigation is conducted by a newly formed Pakistani counterterrorism unit, led by a taciturn cop called Captain (the Indian star Irrfan Khan). When Mariane later approaches the American embassy for help, it appears for a time that the Pakistanis may be shown up as bumblers. And, in fact, one government official declines to assist in the search because he believes the kidnapping is a plot cooked up by India’s intelligence agency to embarrass Pakistan.
The film uses actual news footage from the event sparingly, and always in ways that not only heighten the feeling that these terrible events did happen, but that they are happening again, right before our eyes.
When the kidnappers send word that Danny Pearl’s treatment will be no better than the terrorist prisoners at Guanta`namo Bay - America’s own Devil’s Island - then-Secretary of State Colin Powell is shown insisting that the detainees at Gitmo are being treated humanely. (Just this month, Powell seemed to have reversed field, and said that the prison should be closed down immediately.)
When Mariane reveals to the Captain that Danny is Jewish, you can see his shoulders slump slightly, and her spine stiffen. The exchange is almost imperceptible, and it passes in an instant, but Jolie and Khan manage to make it say everything about Danny’s chances.
Jolie’s work as an actress often has been a captive of her celebrity, making it difficult to see past her pillowy lips to the craft. Perhaps it took the constraints of docu-drama to uncage her less-obvious gifts, but this is her finest performance, and likely to be the equal of any given by an actress this year. She holds herself back for as long as she must, and then in one great howl of grief and rage, lets us into Mariane’s broken heart. Her mighty heart.

Movie review: ‘A Mighty Heart’ a mighty jewel
Angelina Jolie, left, and Dan Futterman star as Mariane and Daniel Pearl in “A Mighty Heart.” (Handout/MCT)
The murder of Daniel Pearl inspires an engrossing suspense movie.
By Colin Covert, Star Tribune
Last update: June 21, 2007 – 2:42 PM
The kidnapping and videotaped beheading of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl by Islamic militants in Pakistan has been the subject of numerous news reports and a memoir by his widow, Mariane.
Now it’s the focus of an almost intolerably exciting docudrama. Angelina Jolie and Dan Futterman star as the couple whose personal tragedy offered a harrowing look at a religious-ideological clash between cultures. British director Michael Winterbottom tells the story with an intelligence and restraint worthy of the subject.
Filmed on location in Pakistan, India and France, “A Mighty Heart” succeeds both as an engrossing police-procedural suspense movie and a challenging political film. Pearl approached his profession with humanist goals, reporting with the aim of increasing cross-cultural understanding. In January 2002, he visited a Karachi restaurant where a fixer promised an interview with a Muslim religious leader concerning Pakistani ties to the attacks of Sept. 11. Mariane, hugely pregnant, remained home awaiting his phone call, impatience mounting to anxiety.
When it became clear that he had vanished, security attachés at the U.S. Embassy, Journal executives and Pakistani police mounted an urgent effort to get him back. Irr-fan Khan (”The Namesake”) is superb as a tough, dedicated Karachi officer committed to finding Pearl and protecting his nation’s pride.
The film doesn’t push for melodramatic excitement or advance manipulative political points. It requires us to sift the meaning out of the rush of objective details, like the investigators trying to trace Pearl’s whereabouts in the chaos of a sprawling Third World metropolis. It’s thrilling to watch.
The film, produced by Brad Pitt, was conceived as a prestige project for Jolie, and it succeeds by underplaying its hand. Mariane was emotionally at the center of the search for her husband, but at the farthest edge of the investigation. Jolie is onscreen less than you’d expect, which gives each scene more impact. Through her stoic grief and anger, you can see her psychological need to believe in the authorities, alongside her professional suspicion that they’re insulating her from the harsh truth. Winterbottom doesn’t provide his star with opportunities to showboat: her most emotional scenes are shot from a discreet distance.
For Winterbottom, the real mystery at the heart of the film is the fateful connection between Daniel Pearl and Omar Sheikh, the key player in his kidnapping and murder. Pearl, a Jew, used his career for humanist ends, reporting from Muslim countries to promote cross-cultural understanding. The British-born Sheikh, the product of a comparably cultured, middle-class, educated background, became a jihadist militant in response to what he saw as global persecution of Muslims. How two men so similar could have ended up on a path that made them victim and murderer is a story Daniel Pearl would have wanted us to work at understanding.

#294 wondering..
————————
i was just wondering! how long have you
personally known Brad and Angie?
Also when was the last time you had a good
f*ck?
do yourself a favor and release some of that
tension, i think that Angie can handle her
own s*it, without her BFF advice.
Did someone video the interview on The Early Show? Here they don’t broadcast the entire show, which why I don’t watch it. It doesn’t start until 8:00 am. They show local news until 8:00 so I think I missed it. Peace.
Congratulations to Brad and Angelina for all the critical acclaim they are receiving for A Mighty Heart. It must be beyond what they even had hoped for. They made a movie that was dear to their heart and that was important to them. All the good reviews are just icing on the cake. I can’t go see it for a week or two, so hopefully those that can go will tell us about their experience!
A Mighty Heart
By Harry Forbes
Catholic News Service
NEW YORK (CNS) — The facts about the 2002 kidnapping and eventual brutal killing of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Pakistan were so widely reported a viewer might understandably approach the film at hand with a certain dread.
And yet, “A Mighty Heart” (Paramount Vantage), the tense recounting of the frantic search for Pearl, played here by Dan Futterman, not only holds your interest, but emerges as a testament to fortitude in the face of tragedy. The story is told mainly from the perspective of his pregnant wife, Mariane (Angelina Jolie), a journalist on whose memoir, “A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl,” the film is based.
With his on-location shooting (India as well as Pakistan), director Michael Winterbottom superbly captures the chaos and tumult of Karachi.
Near the film’s start, Danny, the South Asia bureau chief for the paper, seeks expert advice on the advisability of meeting a man with whom he has only corresponded via e-mail in the hope of gathering information on would-be “shoe bomber” Richard Reid in the days after Sept. 11, 2001. He’s assured that as long as the assignation takes place in a public place he should be safe.
On the appointed night, he takes a cab to the Village Restaurant, dismisses his driver, but later (we don’t see quite how) he is persuaded to enter a car and driven off to his fate.
When he fails to show for the dinner party Mariane is hosting for their friends, it is clear something has gone terribly awry, and hasty calls are made to the American embassy, starting a manhunt that will soon involve the Pakistani authorities, the CIA and Danny’s co-workers.
Mariane’s support group includes Indian friend and journalist Asra Nomani (Archie Panjabi), at whose house she and Danny had been living; a Pakistani counterterrorism expert known only as Captain (Irrfan Khan); Wall Street Journal colleagues John Bussey (Denis O’Hare) and Steve LeVine (Gary Wilmes); and American security chief Randall Bennett (Will Patton).
The presumed motive for the abduction by the jihadis, we learn, is the perpetrators’ notion that Danny was a CIA operative.
Acting in a naturalistic style without undue histrionics (except for one searing outpouring of grief), Jolie deftly submerges her own persona, capturing both Mariane’s physical appearance and French accent.
What stays with you is the remarkable fact that Mariane refuses to succumb to bitterness or hatred, making “A Mighty Heart” an inspiring portrait of courage (both hers and Danny’s), resilience under adversity and the triumph of the human spirit.
The film contains several uses of the f-word under duress, and a few other crude or crass words, fleeting newsreel footage of bombings and some dead bodies including a grim morgue image, a discreet torture scene, a brief nongraphic bedroom scene and a verbal description of Pearl’s gruesome death. The USCCB Office for Film & Broadcasting classification is A-III — adults. The Motion Picture Association of America rating is R — restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.

I do dragonfly. I am obviously an Angie fan and I just hate all the negativity that has been left at Angie’s feet. Nobody ever questions brad charity work and he really didn’t get involved until 2004(acording to vanity fair africa issue) which just happens to be the year he met Angie. she had already been doing her thing for 3-4 years before that.
**************************************
Ok, I actually do think you have a point that Brad has not been publicly involved in humanitarian causes as long as Angie, yet she is the one who gets targeted for being insincere about it. Well, I think it’s because the American public doesn’t know what to do with a supposed “bad girl turned good” like Angie (nevermind that most of their perceptions of her are based on outright lies). Americans love to label people, and Angie is going off script, and people want to attack her for that. People aren’t supposed to (gasp!) up and change once you have labeled them! haha!! Like Cliniqua said earlier, Angie scares people. She scares them because she makes them have to think outside their comfy little box. They want to label her, yet she defies any label they try and put on her….even all the s**t that is hurled at her on this site fails to stick.
As for Brad, he’s coming from that “Golden” (gag!) (they forget the whacked-out roles he has played) place, and also, IMO, he doesn’t get questioned or scruntinized as much because he is a man. Sad, but true. Women’s intentions are always questioned more than a man’s.
As for your earlier query about why she stays with him and why he hasn’t cleared her name in the press, well, I do think she truly loves him. The way she looks at and speaks of him says it all. I think early in their relationship, possibly she did try to test him, to see if he truly was strong enough to be her man. I think adopting Z might have been part of that…she wanted to see if he had the mettle to stick around through everything that sick little baby needed…because Angie was determined to do it, with or without him, I am convinced. So, when he did indeed rise to the occasion, she then opened herself up to him more. He showed her he was more than a pretty face, and I think he has continued to so ever since. She has herself said that he brings so much to her life, that he has been there for her through all kinds of life events, that he helps make her life richer. She would not stay with him or allow herself to fall this deeply if there was no substance to him.
I do also think she changed him. It’s obvious she did. Angie opened his eyes to the world beyond Hollywood. Her influence is apparent, but I do not think he up and just started being aware of the world just because he met her. My opinion is that possibly he did want to do more before, but he was too busy spending all his energy holding his mess of an ex-wife together for several years. She just left him too drained to be motivated, IMO. Angie is not a drain on his energy, she gives him more, hence what you see now.
In the end, you are just going to have to trust what she says. She loves him and she is happy. We don’t live with them, and we don’t know even a fraction of what their life in their home is like. Look at the faces of their children…they appear to live in a very happy home. If there was tension it would show. I listen to their friends, like Matt Damon, who can give us little glimpses of insight. He says they just tune all that stuff out and live their lives. Angie has never cared about the tabloid press, and who knows, maybe there *have* been times Brad DID want to speak out against this story or that story, and possibly Angie was the one who told him not to….we don’t know. I do think they both believe that addressing it only gives it validation and power.
I assume you are upset about this latest Jane Pitt thing and Doug’s statement to People…well, I believe Jane Pitt was set up by X, and that Doug’s statement was a way of just neutralizing it. Calling X a “friend” was rather funny and sorta insulting, anyway…so kudos to Doug. Whether or not that was the right thing to do, I do not know, but I think it is Angie who wants her work and her family to speak for itself. She’s not going to waste her time with it, whether Brad or anybody else might want her to. Like Brad said, “Angie doesnt have a boss.” I think she truly is WHERE she wants to be and does WHAT she wants to do WITH who she wants to do it.
And right now, and possibly for a very long time in the future, that person is Brad Pitt.
Just have a little faith in Angie’s choices. I think it’s gonna be ok, really.
Z is so cute and loveable. I am coming around to loving this family.
they look so adorable together i saw the early show and she just talked about how difficult it was to play mariane and she had to study film of her to get her accent right and how she’s trying to get all the kids adjusted before she has another loved it short and sweet im also going to see a mighty heart to day at night with my sister cant wait
for the idiot that is bashing Z’s clothes. Clearly you do not have children. When kids are that young and are in school, day-care, kindergarden or whatever you want to call it, normal and smart parents do not dress them up in pink dresses and pretty little bows, with cute little stockings. They wear practical clothes, because they are gonna run around, play, and most likely will get dirty. That is why they also carry change of clothing. Childcare and Parenting 101.
Z ’s smile is priceless.. what a beautiful kid~

Was it you that said a few post back that you are waiting for Grandchildren. I find it hard to believe that you are even an adult, posting these stupid comments, over and over, just to get attention. You must have the mind of a 2 year old…wait that will be an insult to a 2 year old. Get Lost Hagyou talking about your self again roxanne?

I will come out of the closet at this very moment. I hate this family, the kids, their movies. I don’t know what Brad saw in Angie. She is so skinny and her stomach must be so FU that I’m sure right know she is suffering from halitosis.
===================================
Well, it’s your right to do whatever you want.
But I hope you become a happier person for your own sake. Life’s too short to fill your life with hate.

Who ever is using my fcuking name STOP. Don’t hide behind other people’s name and post you sh! T, stop being a fcuking coward and post under you own name. I know my name is sexy, but damn. :)
I am black, and I wish someone would call my people monkey’s to my face. There will be some serious ass whipping going down.
That little girl, Zahara, is so pretty, she reminds of my daughter when she was that age. My daughter is gorgeous, and so is Miss Zahara.
Ya know, I use to enjoy reading these threads about Brad, Angie and their children but just of late it’s been no fun because as an adult, I don’t stick around for the childish acts and name calling. To all those haters that have come here to be mean and nasty, especially towards these lovely children, you really need to step back and take a good look at the person in the mirror. I’m out.

Hey Roxy, I see someone is hijacking your name also. Report them to JJ so that he could put an end to this BS. I already did along with several others.

Thanks, How do I report it to JJ.
I know “X” is probably just kicking herself right now. This is too adorable. A man who WANTS kids, ENJOYS kids, ACTIVE father, GREAT listener for his partner/kids, INTERESTED and ENCOURAGES his partner/kids, ROMANTIC, let’s you have your own personal space, believes in family time, mom an dad time, world traveler, helps others in need and i could go on and on and on.
I agree with AJ, “he’s more man than any man…” i’ve ever known as well. Just a great package all wrapped up in a sexy, delicious, irresistable body. I KNOW “X” is kicking herself right now. I just know it!!!!
Congratulations to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, their collaboration of any project they chose, to me is a huge success because it’s coming from the heart.
Awwww how cute id Baby Z? she seems like so much fun. Pax is a cutite too. How did Brad & Angelina manage to get cute kids? That whole family is cute.

Hit the contact button at the top or bottom of the page and shoot him an e-mail. I did and they got on it really fast. I received an e-mail letting me know he was working on it and a little while later, I noticed the fake posts were deleted. JJ rocks! Definitely report it!
After listening to the video for the 11th time Zahara said “LOOK! people”… Brad said, “yeah” (audible) and giggled…
The BAMPZS kids are genuinely happy… Angie and Brad are truly good and loving parents.
Rock on Angie and Brad!
Zahara is happy she is finally being allowed to go to school.
Boycott A Mighty Heart and the brownface-ing of Hollywood.
Don’t forget, AMH opens today! Support Angie & Brad!

Dragonfly—I loved your last post: it was very compassionate and thoughtful.
A very interesting take on the mysteries of people we just really don’t know.
I agree wholeheartedly with your refreshing attitude about addressing mindless, derogatory posts. Ignore them.
I was watching Access Hollywood while the press blitz was on for Oceans 13, and someone asked Brad about rumors that he controls Angie.
He chuckled and replied something to the effect that NO ONE controls Angie.
I admire how they are a loving unit that maintains their separate identities: a surefire recipe for longevity in a relationship.
They both know that Angie is the real deal, that she is sincere and that ‘the cream will rise to the top.’ Her humanitarianism ain’t going away.
When you know who you are and what is in your heart, you don’t need to demean yourself with trying to convince your detractors of the truth.
I think at this point, with all that she has been these past few years, it must be work to continue to deride her and believe her to be inauthentic. I know its a cliche, but it says more about the negators sad souls…..
We know she (and Brad) are the real deal—because it takes one to know one, eh? :)
GO SEE AMH—AND BRING FRIENDS
the success of this movie will speak volumes!
i think brad was laughing at something that zee said … cause u can hear him go “hahhaha zee!” or something like that?/
maybe its just me ??

Thanks for your feedback. Too many threads today to keep track! Just wanted to let you know I saw your repsonse. :)
I just love and adore Z. She has such an amazing attitude with the stalkarazzis.
Z is getting cuter each time we see her! Love that smile! and Pax is a cutie too :)
gosh, Extra just did a brief segment re: Z uttering ‘people’……….she is so dainty!
I love this family. Great parents and great kids. Z has a smile that lights you up. Yep, 6 of us are going to the movie tomorrow to see AMH to support our girl. It makes me feel great knowing that 1/3 of what I spend will go towards something good. I’m also going to try to work with what I have and not shop and consume more like my two hero :)
Peace to all!
I saw AMH today- matinee show. Its a good movie, fast paced. Jolie is really good in it.
