Maddox & Zahara Share Clothes!

They wear hand-me-downs!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s 2-year-old daughter Zahara wore a “Black Sabbath” t-shirt (the English heavy metal band that Ozzy Osbourne used to sing lead vocals for) to school on Friday.

Big brother Maddox, 5, wore the same t-shirt last August while enjoying a dinner night out with Brad and Angelina in New Orleans, Louisiana. The family was in town because Brad was announcing the winners of his architectural design competition at a news conference.

Maddox and Zahara both wore it best, so don’t even think about it!

nice multi post #38,40 and 43. Why so snippy? Valid point being made…if you saw Angelina putting Mad in girls clothing again and again, wouldn’t you notice? make a comment? I don’t see this as being a “hater”, just observing and wondering why?

OMG! Another post about them. This will become a Pitt family fan site. Goodbye! It was nice reading you.

An anatomy of faith and ‘Heart’
Based on the memoir of his widow, Mariane Pearl, the stunning ‘A Mighty Heart’ revolves around the 2002 kidnapping of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.

On so many levels, “A Mighty Heart” is almost as excruciating to write about as it is to watch. It has many of the virtues of a first-rate political thriller, and yet who can think of it in those terms?

Based on the memoir of his widow, Mariane Pearl, it’s about the 2002 kidnapping of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl and the five-week hunt for the Islamist terrorists who would prove to be his killers.

Danny, played by actor and “Capote” screenwriter Dan Futterman, is first introduced to us in Karachi, Pakistan, where he is running down a story about would-be shoe bomber Richard Reid. Recently arrived from Afghanistan, where both he and the pregnant Mariane, played by Angelina Jolie, were covering the post-9/11 US bombings, Danny is quickly lured into a treacherous endgame with his captors.

The brief shot of him waving goodbye to Mariane as he gets into a cab is ominous in the extreme. From that point on, except for a few subsequent moments with Danny on his fated rounds, and a couple of flash backs to his wedding day and marital bliss, we never see him again. His absence is the movie’s strongest presence.

As with Mariane, and the expanding circle of advisers and friends who attempt to locate Danny, we are put in the harrowing position of ferreting out the facts of his disappearance piece by piece. We, unlike the protagonists, know the outcome, which adds an extra layer of despair.

Directed with tense docudrama exactness by Michael Winterbottom, from a screenplay by John Orloff, “A Mighty Heart” is, in one sense, an anatomy of how people under extreme duress keep the faith. When Danny’s parents, after reports that he has gone missing, hear the news that he has been kidnapped, they are jubilant. It means he’s alive. When Mariane sees the video of Danny as a captive, she reads defiance in his body language.

Interviewed on television, Mariane is asked what message she would like to send Danny and without hesitation, she says, “I love you.” The romance between them is among the most quietly believable depictions of ardor that I have ever seen in a movie. Before he is kidnapped, we see Danny fooling with his very pregnant wife, or talking shop with dinner friends, and we recognize immediately the emotional honesty that is the armature of their love. Honesty is also at the heart of their passion for reporting. (Although it presents obvious dangers in his line of work, Danny is always forthcoming about being Jewish.)

The Pearls’ shared devotion to the cause of journalistic truth is what sets this movie apart from so many other movies about reporters in war zones, even great ones, like “Under Fire.” Is it more dangerous now to be a reporter than at any other time in history? Probably not, and it would be another form of romanticism to think so, but it may seem like the stakes are higher now, and the methods of subterfuge ever more Byzantine.

The search for Danny in “A Mighty Heart” is accomplished mostly through high-tech skullduggery, and it leads to the inescapable conclusion that, as individuals, our survival or obliteration is dependant on how wired we are into the world.

With her belly protruding and her hair piled high, Jolie completely absorbs herself in the role. Raised in France and of Afro-Cuban and Dutch descent, Mariane is worldly in the best sense – she gains sustenance from the differentness of her life experiences.

“A Mighty Heart” puts great store in Mariane’s spiritual composure, and this is the only part of the movie that seems insufficient to me. Her yowls of rage and disbelief when she hears the news of Danny’s execution soon give way to a kind of transcendence. Her articulation of sorrow is glossed over and she becomes a paragon of how to rise above grief.

Winterbottom wants us to see Mariane as a champion of the soul and a shining example of how to survive these parlous times. But the emotional effect of “A Mighty Heart” is too tangled and inchoate for such easy uplift. The movie’s power diminishes its conclusion.

DROP IT GIRL! YOU’VE BEEN WITH DIFFERENT MEN SINCE AFTER BRAD! IN FACT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO SAVE YOUR MARRIAGE THEN, YOU DATED VINCE VAUGHN! IT JUST TELLS ME THAT YOU DID NOT HAVE THE CONFIDENCE TO TRY AND SAVE YOUR MARRIAGE BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN LONG OVER!!! AND ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!!!!!

Jess, not “frilly dresses from the 90’s” or even dresses at all. Maybe jean shorts or skirt with a girls top? We’d be curious if Pax or Mad dressed in girl shirts so why you being so deffensive? I understand that maybe this shirt was a gift from a friend and they would like to keep it in the family for awhile but Pax being the next in line should be wearing it not Z. It’s way to big and she IS a girl.

#50 Black Sabbath is a band. Angie does not practice witchcraft. I find the story about what Z is wearting absurb and petty. Who cares that she is wearing the shirt. Maybe Z likes the shirt but that is not news. I think who ever wrote the article could not find anything esle to write. Families with multi number of kids always hand clothes down and kids find clothing that they like to wear. I can’t believe I am even responding to this.
Lets look at the positive. Hey, Brad may have dressed Z, have you thought of that. It is always lets bash Angie. I am really tired of this s**t.
About the Z’s leg, I am a physical therapist. I am sure that Angie has had the leg looked into and the docs may not want to do anything right now, may want to see if it will straighten out on its own. Probably due to her having rickets when she was a baby. As she get older more may be done to it.
The important thing is that the kids are happy! Designer clothes not needed. Are we getting a little too materialistic? Anige is a great mom, actor and lady!!!!

I love Angie, she is a very practical woman. This woman is really living the real life of a good parent, wife/loving partner and a working mother.
When you are traveling, you can only bring limited clothes. With four children you have to juggle everything, from clothes to food, your time and endless things to get thru the day. She must have that clean shirt for the day for Z to wear or Pax or any of the children who needs a clean clothing. Only a real mother can understand this. So just IGNORE those ignorant comments. They do not know the true happiness of being a mother. It is what is in the heart that will define one’s happiness.

If we respond to their baiting, we lose.

If we ignore them, we win.

LETS WIN.IGNORE!

#48 Jess,
Yeah , your right. This family doesn’t value material things at all. That’s why they own of 28 million worth of homes (5!) and 7 million in aircraft, multi motorcycles and cars (big gas guzzling ones) Hell Brad’s wardrobe for the OCEANS 13 premier tour cost more than you and I make in a year, not to mention hair makeup travel Angelina’s wardrobe ( aside from the $25 dollar find with the $600 in alterations)$1200 shoes.

No your right. You do know them best.

I think that Zahara is just soooo gorgeous! I’ve never ever in my life seen such a beautiful little girl. (if I said otherwise I won’t get published).

laughing a lot!!!

#45 - What an asinine statement - you watch too much mind altering TV; ‘discerning’ people know the difference between witchcraft and goodness: that is like saying because you do not understand someone’s culture, you would term them savages?

Little girls in American society are almost programmed from the git-go to be materialistic and image-conscious. Why are there racks and racks of little girls clothes and only a small section for boy’s items in any given store? Parents often buy way too many clothes for little girls, more than they wear. Kudos to Angie and Brad for keeping it simple. They are not encouraging consumerism in their kids. Plus, with traveling, you need to streamline.

And who is to say Z doesn’t have a choice in what she wears? My 3 year old niece is a beautiful little girl but she abhors anything frilly or fussy. You put it on her and she immediately wants it off, saying it is itchy. She wants her tees and jeans. Z may be the same. Angie already said Z doesn’t like bows in her hair. She pulls them out.

There are alot of pictures with Z in a dress…the Gala cover from last year comes to mind. Z lookslike a happy little girl, so people should stop projecting their own ideas about their own children onto her. Just be happy for her and her family. If you are judging her and her parents by what she is wearing, then you are the one with issues of stereotyping, not them.

I saw AMH on 1st day of release here in Honolulu, Hawaii and I LOVED it! Like most, even though I knew the final fate of DP, I still cried and came out of the theater looking like a racoon (mascarra/eyeliner smeared). Our Angie was magnificent, totally believable as MP! Hope she wins an Oscar for Best Actress. That scene where she screams, I could totally feel her agony and total despair.

Most of you people are exactly what Angelina dislikes in a person…YOU THINK WHAT YOU SEE IS WHO YOU KNOW.

pathetic really.

ALL the others:

Do you know how ridiculous and INANE you all sound? Questioning someone’s choice of clothing for THEIR child and using that as a basis to judge them as evil!

Amazing how one woman’s beauty and audacity to express knowledge about the world, can make soo many others feel so insecure about themselves, they have to result to insults.

Am sure as insecure as she is, even the X hasn’t sunk that low yet!?

I CAN’T BELIEVE JENNIFER ANISTON GOT DRAGGED (and I mean dragged) INTO THIS THREAD?! WHAT THE HELL DOES SHE HAVE TO DO WITH THIS?

IS YOUR PRIVATE INTERPRETATION OF AGELINA AS SOMEONE WHO WOULD ENJOY READING SNARKY COMMENTS , LEFT BY HER “FANS”, ABOUT BRAD’S EX-WIFE, ON THE SAME BLOG AS HER FAMILY AND HOW THEY ARE TRYING TO DO THEIR PART OF MAKING THE WORLD A MORE SAFE,BEAUTIFUL AND FAIR PLACE?

TO HATE SO BLINDLY WITH SUCH MALICE GOES AGAINST EVERTHING ANGELINA AND BRAD ARE WORKING SO HARD AGAINST.

So adorable :)

I hope you guys are doing well this morning.

piper, with a low @ 06/23/2007 at 8:27 am

Don’t forget the People spread debuting Shiloh; Z had on a bluish-gray dress there. And the pap shots of Z with Holly and Maddox; we saw her, in a dress, standing, walking around, and lounging on a chaise lounger. A precursor to the personality that we’re seeing now.

And if Zahara is as bonded with Pax as Angelina alluded to in several interviews, I suspect that she’s playing in the dirt with him, possibly looking at bugs with him. Wearing dresses is not conducive to playing, especially with rough-housing boys, whether they’re your brothers or schoolmates. And quite frankly, wearing those little bottoms with dresses only looks cute for so long, IMO.

Nothing against the Jolie-Pitts I do like them very much, but Angelina is NOT a “wife”. She is his live-in girlfriend and together they have children. The term “parnter” is reserved for those of us that cannot marry legally (ie gay couples)Angelina and Brad have that legal choice. They have chosen not to for their own reasons.

Maybe the term “common law” wife is appropriate.
