Angelina Jolie: Hire Some Fast Elephants!

You may have missed MSN’s interview with Angelina Jolie from last week. The Mighty Heart actress discussed plans for the Maddox Jolie-Pitt foundation, which she was just recently accused of abandoning, and about her kids.

Here’s how she described her 1-year-old daughter Shiloh: “Shi’s so full of light and love! She’s just a little honey and very, very funny. I think I’m recognizing some of myself in that one. She’s going to be a little bit of trouble!”

Watch Angelina’s interview with MSN here. You know you want to find out about Angie hiring those fast elephants!

UPDATE 1: Below are some pictures of Brad & Angelina on Saturday getting in some alone time in Bilbao in the North of Spain. By the looks of it, Angelina drove while Brad popped in and out of the car to take pictures. Ange also was recognized by a fellow mother and her daughter.

UPDATE 2: During their trip in Spain, Brad and Angie are staying at Hotel Marqués De Riscal in Elciego. The couple also checked out the Guggenheim Bilbao, designed by world-renowned architect Frank O. Gehry (one of Brad’s favorite architects).

Regarding the Nomani article:

It’s a shame when people expect a Hollywood movie to be a documentary or a treatise. Nomani’s anger at Hollywood doing what it does - taking a story and converting it into a visual medium that is hopefully entertaining or compelling enough to sell tickets and make money - is misplaced.

Mariane already wrote “A Mighty Heart”. The journalists have already covered the story.

The film reaches a broader audience, and why? Because it has a major star. And even so, some of us, including me, are hesitating to see it. Why? Because it sounds like a very depressing two hours, frankly, and I don’t know if I want to pay to be emotionally dejected. But I can assure you, without Angelina Jolie in the film, I wouldn’t see it.

Of course there is a star in the movie. Of course the PR is promoting the star. That is the business of Hollywood. Hollywood is not journalism.

On the other hand, because of the movie, millions of people who never paid attention before, now know what happened to Danny Pearl. Many of them are younger people. Perhaps they will pay more attention now.

But at the end of the day, Hollywood produces movies to entertain and to make money. Resenting that component is foolish. Unless the producer filed a 501(c)(3), complaining about how they make a return on their millions is naive.

In Mariannes book the story is very much her journey. Sure, Daniel is central to it and you get some perspective of his character and a lot of his spirit but still it’s very much her tale which, when you think about it, is as it should be. Asra may well have vastly different ideas about who Daniel was and should be shown, and she’s entitled to. What I find rather mean spirited of her is to criticize those memories of her supposedly close (though perhaps not anymore) friend Mariannne. Still, as I said before when you make films or write about real people and events there’s always one who doesn’t like themselves in it, Asra just seems to be the one in this case.

in the picture where the mother is holding the baby, you can tell that brad was in the car. you can see part of his left hand.

why did they have to block him? :(

You’re welcome lurker opinion & filipino fan.

Hey Egad, go to bed!

Oh my god, thAt woman is so bitter. Jeesh! Even people who read the book say the movie followed the same line of events as in the book. What the **** is that woman’s problem?

Did she really want a movie about her hidden love for Daniel? She may as well write a book about him and get someone to make a movie about him. Other people did that!
A poster said on the other thread that AMH is not about Dany’s life! Jeesh! It’s based on the book and follow Mariane’s voice. Not that *****’s!
I really don’t know if she read the book…damn… She got the money, she read the script, she agred with Paramount etc, she never gave her real thoughts, ******* hypocrit beyotch! Now she lashes at Paramount and Mariane. Oh, man, I hope Mariane will give her a good bollocking. Daniel Pearl married Mariane. Not that sour grapes witch. Wow….I’m so crossed right now. I need a chill pill…

Two artists visiting another artist’s work.

I like referring these two to artists because I think this is how they see themselves. I read Brad’s repsonse to a film he did that didn’t make money and yelled to the reporter “so what? it’s art!”

Love them.

I think that woman has a problem with MP.

smart money @ 06/24/2007 at 11:03 am

Just saying /egad

didnt she once say something about how they fight when she drives?
++++++++++++++
I think she said they fought when he drives. I have the feeling she’s more agressive behaind the wheel than him.
===============
1) Notice the words you used, “I think…”, “I have the feeling…..”. That means you are SPECULATING.

2) Remember time doesnt stand still. People improved. People changed. They may have figured out a way to be behind the wheels. They had problems behind the wheel together then DOESNT MEAN they continue to have problems.

3) She never used the word “fight”. You exaggerated it into the word fight.

The WP article - I think this woman least of problems is Angelina. Her main issue is The Producers of the movie and how the handle the script and the promotion of the movie.

I agree that she is also pissed at Marianne, you don’t say “So not Danny” without trying to left Marianne in a bad light.

Her beef is with the producers not angelina. It’s not unususual for a real event movie to get some bashing from one of the people who were there, happens all the time, but I’m very surprised she will go and talked like this about Marianne.

Why is always so many posts for this woman?

She never used the word “fight”. You exaggerated it into the word fight.

LUCY! | 06/24/2007 at 10:15 am

As much as I enjoy seeing photo’s of this couple (& thier kids) … I feel so sorry for them. They can’t even get away for some much needed persoanl down time without being photographed.

Lucy I feel you on this.

I love this couple but there is just soo much pressure and intrusion of their privacy. While I enjoy reading about them and seeing their pictures, I worry that the pressure from fans and the paparazzi might be harmful to their relationship in the long run.

I have made it a point to read less about them and I actually will not be looking at pictures of their children picked and dropped from school. Its too much and we as their fans should be the first to set an example and back off. The more we ogle their pictures and read about them dropping and taking their children from school, the more paparazzi become obsessed into taking their pictures.

Cant we just be thier fans, support their causes and only use pictures their have possed for instead of continuosly prying into their personal lives especially when kids are involved. This was a prinvate intimate vacation, this pictures are an intrusion of privacy.

A few days later, when I saw the photos of stars in evening gowns and tuxedos floating down the red carpet for the Cannes premiere of “A Mighty Heart,” Danny’s not-quite-5-year-old son among them, I had that sinking feeling again. Other friends of Danny’s said they did, too. It was so not Danny.
———————————————
She just called Marianne Pearl a publicity *****, she’s also saying all over the article she knew Danny more than Marianne, very tacky.

hunnybunny @ 06/24/2007 at 11:12 am

I saw the movie last night, and I will definitely see it again. I was one of the ‘young’people in the audience, and that made me sad to a degree. This was a hard movie to watch — not only because of the story itself, but because it was really not narrative in the way most h’wood films are (and then this happened and then this happened. . . .) there are a lot of details and chaos and people talking and mumbling and thinking — just like real life, and Winterbottom doesn’t ‘recap’ the story for you the viewer.

As for the story itself, I very much was thrust in my mind to Angie and Marianne on Charlie Rose. MP in particular — here she is young and intelligent and beautiful and in love with her husband — if one goes to the movie thinking this is going to be a kind of sicky sweet valentine to that love, don’t go see it. This is a woman who is dealt a blow to her life and to her beliefs and emerges unbroken. She refuses to be a victim. This is why Angie is perfect to understand MP as a force on the screen. These two are sisters under the skin, intrepid, CITIZENs of the world. They don’t act in the stereotypical ways that comfort the lazy voyeurs. They are female protagonists in a world that is deeply suspicious of that way of being. I thought a lot of the acting was great, esp. Irfan Khan

Two thoughts from recent postings: first, I got a lot out of reading the old BP interviews on the previous threads. Like, he has been looking for some purpose for his life for a long time. The sheer narcissism of his job and of romantic love was not enough for him. His desire to be a producer, his zest in the project of making a family — these impulses to create seem to be an ongoing thread in his adult life. So how did he end up here — he has been bound for this life of travel of family of creating of seeking greater understanding. And I recognize that it is hindsight, but when he describes the way he approaches his art and life, I hear Jolie, not any of his previous loves.

Second, Asra (the real), I see her comments as completely disrespectful to MP, which is sad. I don’t know anything about her, but her need to define Danny Pearl means that SHE should write her own book. The movie is reflective of the story that MP wanted/needed to tell. The ‘ordinary heroes’ language was said by marianne herself. And she doesn’t get to say if Adam goes to the premiere in Cannes — he didn’t see the movie, and he is Marianne and Danny’s child. If I were her I would be pleased to have that marvelous actress play me and that people might be interested in finding out more about me after seeing it. Although now, not so much (on my part).

yes she said that she doesnt like drive with brad because he is always give tips and dont shut up,lol but brad may have reason because on the spanish article the writer even said that they drove in wrong side of road, lol

Not sure about that!!!

You think this movie will teach the young generation!!

Look at the AJ & BP threads to familiarize yourself with the topic of discussion.

The audience that this movie reaches is the fanatics of AJ & BP, not necessarily the one that is concerned with world affairs, world poverty and so forth.

People will remember the movie for the drama surrounding their life. 5 years from now, if not less, the life of Daniel Pearl and how he died will be forgotten.

Hats off to Ms. Nomani for giving us a little insight into the type of man he was.

Luckily some of us are not blinded by the do gooders to realize what their real intention is.

The tragic life of man who devoted his life in the pursuit of the truth has been reduced to showbusiness!!!

Yes, indeed this movie is a mighty shame!!!!

I wish she would fix her heroin problem!!!!!

Study shows that couples who have similar values and commonality have a better chance of succeeding in the long term. Angie attested to her and Brad’s similar family values which is the key why they are happy together with their growing brood.
It is always nice to see them sharing and supporting each other’s interest, Angie indulging Brad’s architecture curiosity and photography. Brad on the other hand, showing his genuine support by reading Angie’s WP article first and going with her on her UNHCR trips. Both are making it work and that’s a wonderful thing.

Some Good News @ 06/24/2007 at 11:19 am

Although, as Angie said AMH is not intended to make money ….

Boxoffice for Saturday IMPROVED over Friday’s (quite a big percentage).

I would suggest to you read the book yourself!!!

Great points
People really need to get beyond their issues with BP and AJ and what happened in the past. This is a very good movie with a complex theme. It is a smart indie film that tells the story of one woman’s search for her husband. It follows faithfully the book, “A Mighty Heart”.

serouisly? @ 06/24/2007 at 11:22 am

Asra Q. Nomani OP gives you the idea that she’s the only one fighiting for Danny’s memory because his wife is so busy playing with Hollywood. She says Brad Pitt and Paramount only care about the money and not danny, this project with or without angelina was going to be the same, the adaptation of the script is her main issue.

Asra, the collegue of Daniel Pearl for the WSJ, should have kept her peace no matter how disgruntled she is about the movie. What’s important for everyone involved with the movie, AMH, is that it was done with the blessings of Marianne, and Danny’s parents.
