Brad & Angie Book it Outta Bilbao
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie fly into Prague airport via private jet after a relaxing two-day stay in Bilbao, Spain without the kiddies.
The loved-up couple stayed at the Hotel Marqués De Riscal in Elciego during their stay in Spain. Brad and Angie also checked out the Guggenheim Bilbao, designed by world-renowned architect Frank O. Gehry (one of Brad’s favorite architects).
A Mighty Heart opened this weekend, which starred Angelina and was produced by Brad. It opened to so-so numbers, pulling in $4 million.
Steve Carell’s modern-day Noah comedy Evan Almighty took the top spot, raking in $32 million, which was less than half of its predecessor Bruce Almighty starring Jim Carrey. For shame!

Cant wait to see that film. ^_^
Oh well, guess I gotta settle for third… hope they had some great “mommy and daddy time”. :D
Thanks for the new thread Just Jared. I had to wade my way out of that last thread. It was getting deep in there. A Mighty Heart is a very good movie. Word of Mouth and strong reviews should give it legs.
Peace
They both smiling after…mommy & daddy time…
love the couple
Brad, I hope that on those 2 days you let her rest and fed her a lot of food. She really needs it.
So nice they had an adult weekend. What a pair. I think the take for AMH was about what was expected. I can’t even see it here without going @30 miles away. Like Babel, it will have legs for sure.
I can’t wait to see this film — I’d see it even if Angelina wasn’t in it. Although I think I need to prepare myself, emotionally…
Is she trying to copy Jen by using scarves? They look better on Jen.
They were looking really happy and relax ! waht a beautiful sympathetic couple !
Please Brad, loose that hat!
hot hot
Love them….AMH was great!!!
Great they had a break to enjoy themselves.
They needed the break!
I’m sure they had a nice time together with out the kids, they look great, but I bet they cant wait to see the kids
the pashmina is because the plane is so cold. i don’t think she is copying ja, she is copying millions of women who wear them
Looking good
Thanks Jared.
I know they enjoy their mommy and daddy time, but also missed the children.
I love it. Haters are so quick to post on their sites and complaint how boring they are.
Yet they contribute to the collection plate. Why?…
Give it up…they are not going anywhere..
Love them..
Where are the pictures from Spain. When I was at work I saw pictures of the couple in Spain, the hotel and museum they went to. I did use Yahoo instead of MSN. The hotel is very modern and beautiful. I guess they will appear some on this site.

I love them..just love them!!! They are so happy together! No wonder so many people are jealous and want them to split up, they don’t know how to cope with the world’s most beautiful woman and most gorgeous man being together.
Brad and Angelina forever!
Angelina has worn scarves a lot. We have seen them on a lot of her UNHCR trips. They both look good and happy.
Did you notice Brad went to Angelina after she started dressing like Jennifer? She must have hired Jennifer’s stylist to win him over. Sad. She looks better in Goth wear. It’s more authentic.
I can’t believe haters are like honeybees following this couple enthusiasticly to this new thread . :sigh:
I hope she takes care of herself. She looks fragile. Yet I am amazed at her strength, so much travelling, taking care of 4 kids,passionate involvement in so many projects. I guess the happiness she has found with her man and her family and her work gives her strength, but she must take care of herself for the sake of her kids and her man, well may a lil bit for us fans too.
Love her.
Bradley’s hat is kinda growing on me. hated it at first, then again what can I do when he has glued it to his head with superglue? When I see that hat I just remind myself of his magnificent butt in Troy and forgive him ;-) Brad is a sexy dad.
Hey fellow Brangelina fans,
I was wondering how do you rank Angelina Jolie with the following actresses in terms of acting: Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore.
Jared it opened within the expected range 4-6 million. That is not so,so. It is expected. Peace.

What’s wrong with you? Can’t you handle the truth? Angelina is so skinny that not even the scarves can cover her fugly bones. And her hair looks just as a dirty old mop that she had to put it is a ballerina pigtail.
there are more EXCLUSIVE pics of them getting into the car after deplaning at infgoff.

I notice what it’s done to yours.
Everyone is talking about this movie being a bomb, and in reality it isn’t. There are still many cities and countries for this movie to be shown. What no one is talking about is the 500lb gorilla in the room. Please, before you have a knee jerk reaction and start spewing stupid, ignorant stuff listen, read what I am saying.
Not only is this a small independant film, which very few people see in the first place. It is almost a foreign film. Which even more people don’t see. Just about everyone in the film is foreign. But the biggie is, drum roll, this film is about a black woman. Now don’t start jerking your knees. Yes she is Afro-Cuban, plus dutch, and some other things. But she presents as black. The Afro makes that a reality. Just as Tiger Woods is African American, Indian, and Thai, he presents as black. That is the reality. The general public in America is not going to flock to a movie about a black woman. The majority of whites won’t, and the majority of blacks won’t either, but for different reasons. Not the type of film AA usually go to as a group. There will be a sprinkly of others that will go, but the majority of people will not. Of course the enlightened ones of each race will find this movie, but those people who think like the crazies on this blog will not go. African American people won’t go because they will not identify with her. She is not of their culture she presents European. Also this movie has been presented as an “important” movie. Most people don’t like “important” movies. Important means you have to think. It won’t be fun. No sex, no violence. You can’t run to bathroom for fear of missing something “important.”
I will never understand why fans continue to argue with the trolls and the haters. They are among the group that will not go to see this movie for whatever reasons they hold dear to their hearts. Five years from now if AJ/BP are still a couple and JJ is still a fan site they will still be saying the sos. I would hope that the fans would have move on. I know some of you will disagree with my theory. That is fine. But if you disagree please do it with intelligence. None of the rabid name calling, etc. But if you think about it I am sure it make sense. As one critic said, this movie will play on the coasts. In the big cities. In the more liberal centers. The conservatives will mostly avoid it because it doesn’t follow their agenda. That is not Angie’s faullt. None of this is Angie’s or Brad’s fault. It would be nice, for some, to pin this on them. But sorry it is the fault of a society that doesn’t have the interest, maturity or patience to sit still long enough to learn something. Peace.
Love you Jared for satisfying my Bard-Angie sweet tooth for today. Cannot get enough of them. I hope tomorrow you will have many pics of our lovely lil girl Zee going to school with her Papa. Can’t wait. Z has real star power.
You all know it’s true. You even comment how much better Angelina dresses now. She looks classier. So why deny it? She’s trying out a new style… Jennifer Aniston’s and it looks good, it’s just not authentic on Angelina.
i see jen coke dealers are still here, is paul s going to score some blow tonight
Ya know… it’s true that Angelina is stealing ___’s fashion sense.

Actually, Angelina looks like she’s trying out Audrey Hepburn’s style and it’s not working. She’s so predictable. She’ll never be anything like Audrey Hepburn… it takes class to start with and then one’s OWN sense of style, not borrowed ones.
She’s pathetic.

Angie is dressing classier cuz she is going to all those UN meetings, she is an UN ambassador, meets presidents of several countries all over the world, goes to Africa, Asia, does lots of good work, and models for St John which is clothing line that caters to power women in Washington D.C. And which one of the above mentioned acts was done by Jennifer?
Aniston as Angie’s style inspiration? PLEASE!!!! Angie has her own style which is so chic. I don’t see bleached blond curtain hair anywhere near her face.
i no think z goes to scholl mondays
Personally, I just don’t get it. If anything, Angelina is harkening back to Audrey Hepburn more than anything.

“So so numbers”. It freakin’ bombed. It came it at a deploring $850 bucks per theater. That’s about a hundred people a theater. The America public has sooooooooooooo OD’s with Ms. Holier Than Thou. And what a shame. Danny’s story will not reach the people who cared so much when he died and who respect him so - the American public.

How is Angelina trying to imitate Audrey’s style. Angelina’s style is sexy but classy mixed with her edgy personality. Audrey’s style is basically a Valentino meets Chanel, plain but exceptional. And if you’re not a fan, WTF are you doing here? Get a life!
Is Oh Please in da house?
I have a feeling Angelina will be calling her lovers soon. Do you think they’ll make their breakup public, or will Brad make her fake it for a while?
11 karma
Angelina is unique, she does not copy anyone. She has all she needs and wants in her life. Her priorities are her loving (and very loved up) partner, four happy children, and various humanitarian interests. Oh, and a hot career that she is going to voluntarily and willingly put on hold for a year after she makes a movie this October with the one and only screen legend, Mr. Clint Eastwood himself. Because her family comes first.
Why she has even used her scarves over the years to carry and cover her chidren. So how could she be copying someone who has no children? Let’s be rational and logical in our thinking.
If Jen fans and BA fans can’t get along with each other in this world, How do you expect world peace? How do you expect the war in Iraq to stop? Such a trivial reason to fight about celebrity, and yet it has been 2 years with no signs of ceasing.
jen could never look so classy and so effortlessly elegant. jen looks best in cut off shorts with white wifebeater, trailer trash kind of girl. deal with it. she is afterall ur “girl-next-door” right?
no copyright infringement. just give credit where credit is due.
What a cool, hot, sexy couple! I’m going to watch A Mighty Heart. Ebert and his new partner gives it 2 thumbs up and calling it Angelina’s Oscar worthy performance!

I think haters begin to like AJ but they don’t admit it.
The movie is well done and AJ does such a good job in a very difficult role. JA COULD NEVER HAVE DONE THIS ROLE - she doesn’t have the acting skills and there was no need in the movie FOR WHINING. I’m not surprised a movie about nothing did better - since this is a movie with a message about a Jewish American that got killed.

I think that she has potential to be like Meryl and Cate. Actually, she has already shown some versatility. But she also has incredible looks and a magnetism which could get in her way. Just look at people tripping over themselves to get to her, whether they’re fans or detractors. She elicits a reaction, that’s for sure. But she is in an era of filmmaking when writing and excellent storytelling aren’t a priority. Meryl was lucky to get her feet wet in the 70s with Kramer vs Kramer, The Deerhunter, Manhattan, etc.
I’m still waiting for a renaissance, whether it’s a revival of the 70s, 40s or 30s, where women were seen as a viable commodity in HW, especially strong ones who captured the imagination of the world, especially women.

First off, thanks Jared for this new thread. I tried reading through the last one and oh my…there ARE a bunch unhappy people out there. Seriously, I went from reading in shock to reading and feeling pity for these people. I mean… imagine what kind of lives these people have that they allow their hate to cloud their minds? How can anyone look past the message of AMH and happily rejoice because they think the movie didn’t make money? This is not a Jackass type of movie or Shrek…this is a movie with a message, yet people are happy that it didn’t make any money….It’s insane, it’s not normal.
If this movie does not make any money…it has absolutely nothing to do with AJ and BP, nope, what it is… is a sad commentary on the times we live, where people flock to see movies where people ****, spit and belch while movies that teach a fundamental message is left languishing at the bottom of the box office.
If AJ, BP, MP and everyone involved in the making AMH, are guilty of one thing, it’s trying to convey a message, to make people think in a time when some people would rather their brains turn to mush from lack of use.
Anyway, thanks again. Hopefully, we’ll have a better thread.

I don’t like this hat he always wears. Looks like an old man’s hat.
Despite a massive publicity push by star Angelina Jolie, her new film, A Might Heart, opened at a disappointing tenth place at the U.S. box office this past weekend.
Released on 1,355 screens the film took in only $3.8 million, but even more disturbing than the disappointing opening was the film’s per screen average, which was extremely low, indicating weak interest in the well-reviewed pic.
A Mighty Heart isn’t exactly popcorn summer material. Steve Carrell’s Evan Almighty is, though. However, that film opened to dissapointing numbers too.
At over $175 million, Evan was the most expensive comedy ever to be made, yet the film took in only $32.1 million this past weekend - that’s half of what the film’s predecessor, Bruce Almighty starring Jim Carrey, took in on its first weekend.
The John Cusack thriller 1408 - based on a Stephen King work- did very well, coming in at #3 with $20.3 million
I hope they enjoyed themself on this well needed vacation, because they will have to geer themself up for some grueling criticism. Maybe, they snuck off to get married. They are always trying to one up everyone else. Maybe that will over power the fact that they will be et up tomorrow. NOt only that, maybe the execs at Paramount feel these two just can’t bring the crowds in as the leads, and may get the ax like Cruise did. They have a rough week instore for them.
brad no new interviews, you smoked too much weed and jen did too much coke during your marriage, thus the reason why you both came off as stone airheads
hey jen fans!!! go watch ’she’s the one’ now, it’s on starz!! go hyperventilate about how great she’s an actress in that. how exciting for u. :evil:
Beautiful couple. Angie looks like a mix between Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn, when she wears big dark shades. She should wear this kind of glasses all the time, instead of the aviator ones.
most of american public like movies to make money (Spiderman, Fantastic Four - both REALLY dumb movies). They are very closed in their own world. AMH will go for it in others countries cines

Personally, I’m a little ashamed of engaging in fashion-talk, especially with regards to what celebs wear during the downtime. Just because it’s all a certain person alleged have doesn’t means it has to extend to Angelina.
I guess the question we all have to ask ourselves is whether we are good with our lives as well as our association with this board and fellow posters here, whether they’re fans or haters. On the whole, I am good; I saw a good movie that I will more than likely see again because there are things that I’m confused about. I am good with this board, despite the onslaught of haters and some wishy-washy ‘fans’ who have impulse control issues or who are so obsessive-compulsive that they can’t stand anything that counters their vision for this couple and their children.
Scrolling will resolve that, to a degree, but if more posters don’t take a stand against having this board hijacked by disgruntled haters who bathed themselves with interviews of people they profess to hate, and opt to post about something that interests themselves,we won’t have anything to scroll toward.

******************************************
Nah… what they can’t admit is their idol is dead in the water. Washed-up, has-been sitcom hack with no career, no life and nothing to look forward to. She could change that, of course, if she really wanted to. For instance:
1) Go back to school and learn something so she can talk some other topics beside herself.
2) Get a makeover. She’s pushing 40 and that hair style is too tired for words.
3) Quit smoking and quit tanning. Leathery orange skin does not cut it.
4) Play to her strengths. Get some more TV work.
5) Get a hands-on interest in a charity and really get involved with it (”getting involved” doesn’t mean throwing a check at it every once in a while.)
6) Stop being so damn clingy and controlling and scaring off all her men.
7) Dump her whackjob publicist before he does her any more damage.
8) Develop her own relationships and stop being the perpetual third wheel in Courtney’s and Sheryl’s relationships.
But the above takes real effort, and it’s a lot easier to b*tch and moan and throw endless pity parties. So I don’t see any of this happening any time soon.
Unless she gets her act together, and fast, she will become even more of a joke than she is now. Does she really want to be pitied as “poor Jen” for the rest of her life?
The movie tanked!
I hope Brad and Angie had a nice mummy and daddy time.
Hey…Lala…those were the Jen years. You know sitting around having fun…looking cute. Thank god he left. Look where he is now and how much more he has grown…

I can clearly state that fans on this site have had a big role in turning people off Angelina Jolie. No offence but you fans are so annoying that am glad her movie has gone to the dustbin.
uke-chan, ITAWU. read somewhere once that in cannes, most asian films and art house european films are favored over the american films. nothing against american films because there are great ones out there that are my favorite (only have the classics and indies to look at), but it does say a lot when sutdios are obsessed with numbers, such as the budget. my cousin who is going to film school once asked me what made hollywood films different from european ones. before i could say something, he said that hollywood films tend to be more about everything big–big budget, big blockbuster, big special effects–and less on plot. with european films, they build up on the plot and the characters. generally speaking, it would seem that way.
Congratulations Brad and Angie for making 1/4 of the movie budget in three days.
Angelina has always dressed this way with her work with the UNHCR. It’s aniston with her flip flop Malibu culture that is copying Angelina. Angelina wears it best because she has that long lean ballerina body that is chic. Whenever she is in the Middle East or Eastern Europe or in the subcontinent, she wears pashmina shawls. She even used a pink pashmina for Shiloh’s blanket.
I’ve never seen Angelina in typical LA type gear. She’s more European in that way.
Brad has his own style too. Not the typical American either wearing that hat. Although he did used to wear baseball caps, but for a midle aged man to wear a baseball cap…..I don’t know.

I saw AMH yesterday and I loved it. I thought it was a great movie. Angie did a fantastic job playing Marianne, watching the movie I saw Marianne instead of Angie. I thought the movie was well directed. Everybody did a great job. Angie did a oscar worthy performance in AMH
Her Majesty- like many of the sheep in Hollywood - has decided to flex her brain cells and prove she’s a “deep thinker” by insisting that Paramount ban the entire Fox News network from covering the premiere of her new film. This was obviously inspired by the success that extreme left wing political groups recently had in convincing Democratic presidential candidates not to appear on Fox News in a forthcoming debate - a bizarre, self-defeating decision that will exclude their arguments from the widest possible audience. One would think that any candidate for president would have enough confidence in their own abilities to over-ride any perceived “spin” a network might put on their words. Republican candidates recently appeared on a debate on MSNBC, a network that has been accused of being as biased against the GOP as Fox News is alleged to be for the party. Apparently Her Majesty Angelina can’t quite summon similar “courage” unless it is with journalists from magazines that engage in bidding wars for the rights to photograph her children. (Jolie maintains the proceeds are donated to charity.)
It is not our intention to judge the merits or faults of Fox News. We’ve got plenty of personal criticisms about the network, as we do with any other news network. Suffice it to say that all are guilty of pandering to celebrities like Her Majesty and coming perilously close to being indistinguishable from Access Hollywood. Brave journalists on every network risk their lives daily - as Daniel Pearl did - to bring audiences the truth about the world’s most dangerous places. Imagine how they feel when their reports are bumped to make room for Paris Hilton’s motorcade to prison or Anna Nicole Smith’s funeral procession.
Whether you think Fox News is carrying the water for the Bush administration is irrelevant in this case.
Love or loathe Fox News (and there are plenty of people in both camps), it is absolutely chilling that an entire news network- albeit it the highest rated cable news network in the nation - would not be allowed to cover a friggin’ movie premiere because it affects the sensibilities of an actress who did not even finance the damned thing. This behavior should be equally outrageous to both liberals and conservatives. It’s Hollywood hypocrisy at fever pitch and Her Majesty Angelina obviously isn’t such a deep thinker that she can consider the embarrassing irony of her demand. She has been paid many millions of dollars to star in a film about a man so dedicated to freedom of the press that he died a horrendous death to pursue these beliefs. Yet, Her Majesty spits on his memory by excluding individual reporters, photographers and journalists from an entire news network just because she disagrees with how their mangement covers political stories. Ironically, the premiere of her new film benefited Reporters Without Borders, an international organization designed to fight censorship against journalists! This led to the embarrassing scenario of Reporters Without Borders’ editorial director Jeff Julliard having to condemn Her Majesty’s actions - even though the premiere of her movie benefited his organization. How could he do otherwise without relegating the mission of his group to being a sick joke?
Like many pampered stars, Her Majesty Angelinia feels that freedom of speech only extends to her and those who are in lockstep with her beliefs. To Paramount’s credit, the studio finally stood up to Her Majesty and overrode her demand - and even more encouragingly, most of the journalists present expressed outrage at the terms and conditions, forcing Her Highness to cancel print interviews rather than explain why she gave a press conference and nobody came. It should be noted that whatever criticisms one can make of Fox News’ political coverage, it does not extend to all aspects of their operation. Fox News recently gave enthusiastic reviews not only to Her Majesty’s A Mighty Heart but also to Michael Moore’s new film, Sicko which takes aim at the sorry state of the American health care system. Moore veers so far to the left, it’s doubtful he can even make a right turn in his car. In fact, the network’s controversial star commentator Bill O’Reilly has spoken glowingly of Her Majesty and her admirable fund raising efforts for charity. However, it’s unlikely Her Majesty knows such bothersome facts. If she’s like some of the Hollywood elite, she gets her facts second-hand from idealogues in her sphere of influence who present her with the day’s “news” culled from web sites put up by fringe elements and conspiracy nuts in the tin-foil hat brigades.
This type of outrageous behavior might at least be understandable if the person making such demands was a genuine star. However, Her Majesty Angelina’s name over the title on A Mighty Heart will not put bums in seats. Jolie is one of those celebrities who is an omnipresent fixture on the covers of supermarket tabloids and junkpile weekly magazines. However, the cover price of these rags seems to be the financial high water mark that her fans are willing to spend to pay homage to Her Majesty. With the exception of the spy movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith which was successful, consider her other films of recent years: The Good Shepherd, Alexander, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Taking Lives and Beyond Borders. Never saw most of them? We’d be amazed if you’ve even heard of some of them. Each one was a box-office disappointment at best or an outright flop at worst. Even the Tomb Raider films that were designed to be a studio tentpole series petered out after the second movie. It’s as likely we’ll see a new Howard the Duck movie as Her Majesty’s next Tomb Raider appearance. It isn’t Her Majesty’s fault these films failed: she is an excellent actress and a truly stunning screen presence. However, she has not earned the kind of clout that the likes of Marilyn Monroe had in order to back up her peculiar and bizarre demands. Jolie has accomplished one astounding feat, however: she has managed to unify voices from the political left and right who are outraged over her insulting treatment of a nation’s free press.
I would rather Angie be my girl next door, not Maniston.
The only thing about Brad and Angelina that should be hated is ….
Brad’s hat :)
Who cares if the movie does not do well, I hoped it would have, but seeing the type of movie it is, I knew it probably would not fair well, I am still a fan and supporter of Brad and Angie,
I wont stop loving them and wishing them and their growing family well, just as a would not stop being a fan of my beloved Cowboys if and when they loose a football game, Go Brad and Angie, Grrrreat job
We are not attempting to pass judgment on A Mighty Heart. We haven’t seen it yet, but are well aware it is probably a very worthwhile film and deserving of the high praise it has been earning. It is also probable that the box-office gross will be in line with Her Majesty’s previous films and Paramount will be lucky to cover the price of her royal press junket. We give the studio full credit for financing an important film even though it won’t play well with the Will Ferrell crowd -but Her Majesty Angelina should show a bit of self-awareness and realize that she works for an industry that is indisputably cruel and unfair to actresses. It won’t be long before she commits the unpardonable sin of reaching middle age. The good roles will dry up and Her Majesty will find herself being treated as unceremoniously as her role model, Marie Antoinette, tossed from power when she fell from favor. In a way, Her Majesty will suffer a fate every bit as undesirable as that of the French queen: she will be ignored and deemed inconsequential. She will strive for the attentions of the same reporters she has willingly insulted today and will bemoan the fact that she finally has the privacy she claims she has desired so much. She might even end up testing for sitcom pilots in hopes of landing a steady gig - probably on Fox. -Lee Pfeiffer

Dream on, hon. She’s got the contracts; he’s got the contracts; and your idol doesn’t have jack. Unless somebody takes pity on her and gives her a guest slot in a TV sitcom, which is about all she can handle.
Thanks Alex. I hope to see this two at the Oscars. When Babel opened it made $5.9 million and it has gone on to make $135 million or more worldwide with many award nominations. I hope AMH follow suit.
hey kate what’s maniston excuse for no one showing up for her movies, i mean she is america’s fugly, i mean sweetheart
Saw the movie but I was kind of disappointed, I don’t mind Angelina, that is why I went to watch for the opening weekend but simple advice, wait for the DVDs, it isnot worth the cinema. Accent is to bothrsome and even tires you the person watching.

Hey…Lala…those were the Jen years. You know sitting around having fun…looking cute. Thank god he left. Look where he is now and how much more he has grown…
now STFU…
———————————————–I so agree. I really don’t understand why this chick was posting all those old interviews in the first place, methink she is nothing but a hater
I am so glad you haters are not movie producers or industry experts…
I understand you are suffering for the tourette syndrome. You have this tic repeating over and over again this AMH tanked..bombed…I know you have to keep repeating in order to make it a reality.
The movie is an indie film. It was not meant for the mass public…considering the $4Mil estimate. It has only been 3 days. The movie did good. Not STFU about it already…
Or better yet take your riddlin or prozac..or what ever drugs you prescribe to.
I’m coming out from lurking to say this. I’m still a Jen fan, but our fan base is clearly off, too. I have nothing against Angelina because I give her the benefit of the doubt. It’s annoying to read when bad things are said about Jen because I adore her, but I’ve also read our side of the argument, and we also have a big role in turning people on to Angelina. We’re being as judgmental as the Brad and Angelina fans. I started thinking more about this after reading the interview with Sean Smith and realize that we should all just be happy for everyone, particularly for women of success.

Pearl film is a ‘Mighty’ disappointment

A Mighty Heart has the surface tension of a first-rate docudrama but neither the passion nor the vision to encompass its powerhouse subject, the kidnapping and execution of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.
This Karachi, Pakistan-set drama begins to unfold after Sept. 11 and ends in early 2002. You can guess why the producers asked Michael Winterbottom to direct it. This versatile, dizzyingly erratic British filmmaker brought a riptide realism to In This World (2003), his potent, topical tragedy about the plight of Afghan refugees.
But Winterbottom’s fly-on-the-wall, naturalistic style doesn’t serve the more complex tale of Danny Pearl, an open, adventurous and responsible man trying to illuminate a world shut in every way - that of Islamic-extremist terrorism.
In flashback, Winterbottom celebrates the marriage of Pearl (Dan Futterman) to warm, stalwart Mariane (Angelina Jolie), the French-raised daughter of an Afro-Cuban mother and Dutch father. In the present-tense action, he touches on the dangers of well-meaning Westerners negotiating alien environments.
But, if you’re familiar with the story, the movie whizzes by without leaving you with fresh revelation or insight. If you don’t know it, all Winterbottom presents is a series of facts leavened with small, tight emotions.
Winterbottom wrings momentary suspense from the divided loyalties among Pakistani law enforcement agents. And you can’t help but gasp at the oscillations in the terrorists’ camp after they learn Danny is Jewish or be appalled by the suspicions roused by Danny and Mariane’s host, Asra Q. Nomani, in the Pakistani press and street, simply because she is Indian. (A reporter herself, she was a colleague of Danny’s at the Journal.) But these fleeting tensions generate no cumulative impact. They don’t emerge from some larger view of geopolitics, journalism or the fragility of life in the current millennium. The movie fails even as an ensemble piece about a failed search-and-rescue mission because Winterbottom never catalyzes any deep or dynamic group chemistry. When Danny’s caring, committed Wall Street Journal colleagues break the tension with small talk, they come off as superficial characters - not because they are, but because Winterbottom doesn’t reveal the soulfulness behind their hard work and humane gestures.
Written after the Afghan war began and before the start of the Iraq war, Mariane’s book, A Mighty Heart, casts her supporters in a valiant light. In the movie, though, Winterbottom’s tone is so neutral that when a heroic Pakistani cop known as Captain (Irrfan Khan) watches the physical abuse of a suspect, you wonder whether the director means to imply that torture fosters atrocities like Danny’s kidnapping. And Winterbottom depicts American security expert Randall Bennett (Will Patton) as a man who may enjoy hunting evil-doers way too much.
Futterman, the actor best known as the screenwriter for Capote, is spot-on physical casting for the bright, twinkling-eyed Danny. But the movie gives him little chance to convey the exuberance, imagination and sensitivity that inform Pearl’s best prose and radiate through photographs and film clips of the real man. Indeed, the most glaring flaw is that in the movie, “a mighty heart” seems to refer to Mariane, not Danny. The movie is about her bravery, perseverance and Buddhism-fueled inner calm. Jolie is good at embodying all that, and she makes the most out of her one soul-crushing shriek of anguish. But she can’t keep the film from falling into a bad case of heroine worship.
About a year ago, an 80-minute documentary called The Journalist and the Jihadi: The Murder of Daniel Pearl drew a telling parallel between the plot’s victim and its mastermind. Both Pearl, an American Jew of Israeli-Iraqi origins, and Omar Sheikh, a British Muslim of Pakistani descent, boasted vast opportunities to bridge gaps between subcultures in their respective democracies.
Sheikh rejected those opportunities, but Pearl realized them fully, becoming known as “Danny of Arabia” because of his desire to disseminate the hidden stories and cultural riches of the Islamic world. In The Journalist and the Jihadi, unlike in A Mighty Heart, the political and the personal become one. Tears blur your vision when you witness Mariane saying that, as a Cuban-Dutch Buddhist raised in France, she appealed to Danny because he wanted to be “a universal man.” The documentary gives us moments of poignant poetry. Even at its best, the feature film is merely journeyman prose.
>>>A Mighty Heart (Paramount Vantage) Starring Angelina Jolie, Dan Futterman, Irrfan Khan, Will Patton. Directed by Michael Winterbottom. Rated R. Time 103 minutes.

That was supposed to be to Kate. I hadn’t meant to take your name.
Thanks for this new thread. I just saw AMH yesterday and I think it will earn more globally despite the limited release. At Foothill Ranch in Orange County, on a Saturday it was only shown 4 times at the Regal Cinemas where I went while Evan the Almighty was being shown 12 times in the same theater. Also, AMH has an R rating which is difficult for the majority. It will earn more when it reaches Asia especially the Philippines and Japan.
gee clare that article sounds like jennifer, i mean pampered, aging, middle age sitcom star, thanks clare oh by the way he left out jens coke problem, thanks again clare

Wonderful! Comments like yours are the reasons why I continue to visit this site. I admire the loyalty,sincerity and passion of many other fans but I really really wish they would stop calling people fat slobs, retards, mongoloids and telling them to shut the f__ up, etc. etc. If they are haters you won’t convince them so the name calling is useless and will even provoke more of the same. So you get these long exchanges of insults and counter-insults. Very boring, very counter productive. IF they are not haters, you’ll only be turning people off. Shalom!
Lee Pfeiffer as the lee that writes about books james bond?
People can be mean so just ignore them. For a low budget film, they did good. It’s not about earning money but to spread the word. It’s about love, hate & journalism.
FYI, Angelina is a fashion model, she dress very well & carries herself so elegantly. Why people are trying to break a good family, is beyond me. We have to be happy that for them without marriage, they are forming a family , a happy one indeed. I am glad to see them happy together & spend quality time with their 4 kids. I’m glad that they decided to spend time together in Spain away from their kids, they need a break. If they will do it every weekend that will help their bonding much more harder to break. I love this couple.

I hope to see them at the OSCARS as well. And I agree, I think that AMH will follow in the footsteps of Babel.
I can clearly state that fans on this site have had a big role in turning people off Angelina Jolie. No offence but you fans are so annoying that am glad her movie has gone to the dustbin.

Chin is fadding fast, and her poor poor fans just cant take it. Jolie has movies lined up like no body’s business, meanwhile, Jen’s peeps got her a deal, pushing water,, At least she working though,,,huh
Brad and Angelina’s fans are from different places around the world. As the movie opens up in different countries, Brad and Angelina will laugh their ways to the bank. He who laughs last, laughs best. Again, congratulations on bringing in 25% of the total budget in 3 days.
Could you please post the author link and email, I wanna say Thank you big time :D
the oscars with angie and brad next year should be fun
This deserves reposting.

A Mighty Heart: Angelina Jolie
NEWSWEEK’s Sean Smith answered questions for a Live Talk on Thursday, June 21, at 2:00 , ET, about his interview with Angelina Jolie.
East Windsor, NJ: I understand that Jolie believes that Israel has no right to exist. Does her vision of world peace mean a world without Jews?
Sean Smith: I did not ask her about Israel, but Danny Pearl, the man she just made a movie about, was Jewish, so I find it hard to believe that her vision of world peace means a world without Jews.
_______________________
Orlando, FL: Why did Jolie not adopt children from her own country, the United States, and why does she still not speak with her own father even though he’s apologized to her?
Sean Smith: I got a lot of questions about this, so I’ll answer them all here. I don’t know why she isn’t choosing to adopt American children. It’s a personal choice she’s made, clearly. I know from personal experience that poverty in other parts of the world is much, much worse than it is here, and that may be part of the reason. I know Angelina also sees herself as a global citizen. Just on a human level, it seems to me that if she’s saving three kids’ lives, does it matter what flag they were born under? That’s purely my personal take on the matter. But,as I said, I’m afraid I didn’t ask her about this.
_______________________
Birmingham, AL: Jolie talked about being not being a racist, I want to know during the interview did she make any mentions of “Z” to you? I have followed Jolie for many years but I have yet to read her mentioning “Z” and have seen one maybe two pictures of her with “Z”? I do not believe she is a racist, but one has to wonder if “Z” adoption was for publicity.
Sean Smith: She talked about “Z” a lot, actually. I had a whole section in the story about the kids that had to be cut for space reasons, and I only saw her with Maddox (Z was taking a nap), so that’s why Z’s not more prominent in the story. She says Z is really strong willed and funny and screams whenever Brad dances until he stops. And no, I don’t think she did it for publicity. She doesn’t need anymore, frankly.

New York, NY: As a development academic and mother of 2 children—with family members working for the UNHCR—in, yes, that’s right, Darfur—I think the tone of the article is absurd. It is uncritical, fawning and deeply disturbing. The mythologizing tone you take when you say, for example, “her eyes never leave his face” (when taking about her seeing her son at the end of the day) is ridiculous. What about where was she all day while he was doing these new things? Why he was in a room alone? Indeed, the vast majority of mothers do look at their children when they speak….in fact, one wonders, Mr. Smith if in regular conversations your eyes wander aimlessly? It is certainly a Good thing that she is engaged and interested in the world around her, but there are 6 billion individuals on this planet and a great many of them have dedicated their lives to the development and aid of those less fortunate. Certainly I have no doubt she is relatively well versed in the subject of Int dev/aid—but so are the thousands of specialists at universities, think tanks and in the field doggedly working on. To promote her to a seat at the Council for Foreign Affairs (as well as Davos) is disturbing at best and, at worst, a sign of things to come as we enter a Big-Brother Reality-led Simulacrum of Art representing Art representing Life. I think she is doing good with her life, and is clearly a role model for the young Hollywood set. But, and its an important But, to promote her as an Icon of the 21st century for the greater world at large, is most likely the illusion of Newsweek, which seems to be less unlike US Weekly than it would suppose.
My question for Mr. Smith is when did rigorous journalistic inquiry and critical thought (not to be confused with mindless criticism) become the order of the day at Newsweek? One wonders that if Ms. Jolie was less beautiful, would her deeds carry as much weight with the media. As her overall experience, while good, is certainly nowhere near enough to garner her the accolades she has received if she were to be held up against many of those actually working in world development (rather than, as has been the case thus far, as a modern day saint in Comparison to those simply Watching world development take place and not involved).
Still, in an article where Brad Pitt (who was in his late 30’s before he even managed to make it over to Africa) says that Jolie and Pearl are like “Churchill and Roosevelt” (?)—one can only wonder at how little else he is aware of. In such a context Mr. Smith, you did little to offer the reader with anything even approaching international-level journalism.
Sean Smith: I’m sorry that you think I was fawning. I addressed the criticism against her, I thought, in the story. Yours is the angriest question I’ve received, but there are others, so I’ll address them all here. I am not Angelina’s friend, or publicist. I will likely never speak to her again. I have no stake, one way or the other, in how she is perceived, nor do I have any concern with whether she likes the story or not. (And, by the way, I don’t know.) My job is to research her, spend time with her, think about her, talk to other people who know her, and tell you what I’ve learned. If she was a *****, or narcissistic, or cruel or stupid, I would have told you. Why wouldn’t I? What you read in this story is my experience with her. I believe her to be involved and sincere. She’s been doing it for six years, so it’s clearly not a lark. As for your question about whether she would get this much attention if she weren’t beautiful, I think you’re absolutely right that she wouldn’t. Look at all the attention you’ve paid her, and you don’t even like her. One more thing, Brad Pitt was being really light-hearted when he compared Angelina and Mariane Pearl to Roosevelt and Churchill. I thought the context of his quote made that clear, but I may have not shown that well. He was kind of kidding, and being cute. Clearly, they’re not Roosevelt and Churchill. Even to him.

Memphis, TN: I know people will think I am just being a ‘feminist’ here but something I have noticed with Oprah, Madonna, Hillary Clinton and now Angelina Jolie. Although very different, they are all extremely powerful, influential and EXTREMELY divisive. People either love, love, love them or hate them. Do you think that the U.S. still has a problem with this type of intense power being in the hands of women?
Sean Smith: This is a great question, and I think you’ve really hit on something. And oddly, I think it’s primarily women who have this problem with powerful women. I don’t know why. Truly. I remember being really struck by people’s anger that Oprah built a schoool for girls in Africa instead of doing it here. The irony is, all of these women could just sit in their palaces and be completely isolated by their wealth, and the choose to go out into the world and try and do something positive. As soon as they do, they get attacked. It’s strange to me. I’m not saying Angelina, or any of these women, is a saint, but what harm are they doing, to anyone? It’s not like they started a war under false pretenses or even used government funds for something. I’m afraid I don’t have an answer here, but the question does fascinate me. I should probably do an entire story on this topic.

Los Angeles, CA: I’m a 30-year-old Asian American who immigrated here at age 1 with my family. I am also an activist who has been working with low income communities of color here in the US, making $11-13/hour, working 2 jobs at a time at non-profit organizations for the past 8 years. I am currently working with foster youth and poor “orphans” here in California. I know people are always criticizing Angelina since she’s in the public eye. Well I’m in that group. I used to really admire herbecause I thought she was different than other celebrities who were so full of themselves. But I’m starting to feel really irritated by headlines that say that she and Brad and other Hollywood-ers are going to save the world. I get frustrated because there are so many activists here who have dedicated their entire lives to creating change in their communities, the unsung heroes who don’t get 1/1000 of the headlines you guys do. She adopts a few kids and makes a movie in blackface and I’m supposed to believe she is going to eradicate poverty? Please! It doesn’t even seem she is aware of how much privilege her and Brad have as white movie stars, and to me it just sounds like she is collecting babies around the world like they are dolls or something. I’m so sick of hearing about her and her kids. Either just be a movie star, and stop talking about saving the world and collecting babies of color; or help give a voice to all of the activism OTHER PEOPLE are doing also–she has the power, use it wisely. Don’t be a megalomaniac.
Sean Smith: Your frustration here is not with Angelina, but with the media. She does, in fact, go lots of places without cameras, and works with refugees with no one looking at all. I had a section on that in the story that didn’t make it into the final version, becasue of space restrictions. It would be a wonderful world if people who do good work—non-famous, non-beautfiul ones—were rewarded and covered as much as stars are. She is aware of her privilege, by the way. How could she not be? You know, she really could just stay at home in her mansion in LA. and go to parties and things, and adopt no one. Would things really be better if she did?

Kennebunk, MN: What did Jon Voigt do to Angelina throughout her life that pushed her to the extreme of disowning him?
Sean Smith: He was a semi-absentee father most of her life. They reconciled during the making of the Tomb Raider sequel. When she adopted Maddox, he went on television and questioned her mental health. She said at the time that she didn’t think it was healthy to have Voight in her life.
_______________________
Eagan, MN: Does Angelina Jolie feel remorse at all for her actions and choices she has made regarding Jennifer Aniston? When Brad and Jennifer were married they had planned on Jennifer playing the role. It seems like Jolie just keeps pushing the dagger deeper and deeper into Aniston’s heart and soul.
To do what she (Jolie) has done to another will return sometime to herself. How does she live daily with herself and all of the extreme exposure while hurting Jennifer?
Sean Smith: I got a lot of questions on this topic about this, too. I don’t know why Pitt and Aniston broke up. Frankly, I can’t tell you why MY last relationship ended. The only two people who really know what happened in relationship are the two people in it. Neither Jennifer, Brad or Angelina has ever said that Angelina “stole” him. She may have. She may not. I don’t know. But neither does anyone else, and I’m perplexed by this need for us, as the American public, to cast something as complicated as a romantic relationship into a simple soap-opera narrative, with a good girl and a bad girl. I do know this in general: when a relationship is happy and healthy, neither partner can be stolen by anyone.

South Pasadena, CA: I am so tired of people doubting this woman who is so obviously a woman of great heart and integrity. She also seems to be very well-read and intelligent. Did you get that from her? I mean, holding your own with the likes of Bill Clinton, Diane Sawyer etc…I wouldn’t think you could fake that. Did you feel as Marianne Pearl does in terms of learning things from her, that she is definitely a woman with things to say?
Sean Smith: Yes, I did feel she was intelligent and informed on the issues. I agree that a lot of people are skeptical/cyncial about it. As I mentioned in an earlier reply to someone, if I felt she was false or dumb or self-aggrandizing, I would have reported that. In the time I spent with her, I found her to be calm, sincere, focused and educated on the issues that matter to her. I’m not saying she’s a genius, just that she’s not flitting about the world blindly. And yes, I do think she is shaping a complex and humane worldview for herself. I’ll be interested to see who she becomes in the next decade.
_______________________
Warwick, NY: Does Angelina TRULY want to save the world or just look good for the media??? Personally I think she just wants to appear to be wholesome in the public eye.
Sean Smith: This is too cyncial, even for me. And it’s my job to be. She’s been doing this for six years. If it’s a lark just to get publicity, there are about 1 million easier ways to do that. Also, that headline is something one of my editors put on the story. I don’t think she’s trying to save the world, and she’s never said so. I think she’s just trying to be of use, and make some positive change. We really should not have put that headline on this story. It’s inaccurate.
_______________________
LUDHIANA (PANJAB): Angelina could do a lot of good if she chose better roles, if she is going to act anyway. So why doesn’t she do more work like “A Mighty Heart,” and less like “Laura Croft: Tomb Raider”?
Sean Smith: I agree. I hope “Heart” is the beginning of a trend.
_______________________
Budapest, Hungary: Isn’t it a bit cliche that the most beautiful woman in the world is with the most beautiful man, it seems a little contrived. When speaking with Angelina was there ever, even for a second, a sense that she was coordinating this image of herself?
Sean Smith: No. And if I had sensed that, I would have printed it. She seems very relaxed and comfortable in her own skin. I did not feel at all that she was putting on some sort of act. As for the most beautiful man being with the most beautiful woman, that doesn’t seem contrived to me. That seems logical. Being with Billy Bob Thornton seemed stranger to me.

Oceanside CA: Is Angelina Jolie married at the present time to Brad Pitt?
Sean Smith: No, they’re not married.

Waukegan, IL.: Did the Muslim extremists know that Daniel Pearl was Jewish before they killed him? Or did his race come out after they had already done the deed?
Sean Smith: Yes, they did know Daniel Pearl was Jewish before they killed him. They made him say, on videotape,before they beheaded him, “My mother is Jewish, my father is Jewish, I am Jewish.”

Plano, TX: Celebrities pushing charities is fashionable again. We went through this in the 80’s with “We Are The World” and Live Aid. Most people involved in those projects have not publicly continued their support of charities in any large way since (except for Bono, Bob Geldof and a few others). What are the odds Angelina will continue this altruistic behavior, espcially since it seems to have started while she was involved with a married man and can be spun as good PR? I will respect her if she is still involved in these charities 15 years from now. She’s no Bono or Audrey Hepburn, yet.
Sean Smith: She started her refugee work four years before she met Brad, so it’s not accurate that she did this to bolster her image. As for whether she’ll contiune, I suspect she will. She seems very sincere about it, and interested in the world. We’ll see.
_______________________
Lisbon: I know that she donates one-third of her income to charitable causes, that she has traveled to some 20 countries over the years as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees… but still people only seem to remember and talk about her past… How do you think Agelina feels about that?
Sean Smith: I suspect it bothers her—it would have to—but she also knows that it’s the way the world works. It’s funny, people complain about the media trivializing things, but almost all the questions I got on this live talk were all about whether she stole Brad from Jennifer and why she doesn’t do more in America. It seems to me that she—all of us –are global citizens, not just Americans, and if life is better in the worst parts of the world, it is better for us here, too. That just makes sense to me. Thank you all for your questions. This has been an educational experience for me. To say the least.
Sincerely,
Sean Smith

I’m coming out from lurking to say this. I’m still a Jen fan, but our fan base is clearly off, too. I have nothing against Angelina because I give her the benefit of the doubt. It’s annoying to read when bad things are said about Jen because I adore her, but I’ve also read our side of the argument, and we also have a big role in turning people on to Angelina. We’re being as judgmental as the Brad and Angelina fans. I started thinking more about this after reading the interview with Sean Smith and realize that we should all just be happy for everyone, particularly for women of success.

If you are a Jen Maniston fan, why are you here?

LOL, poor Lee… was he one of the people she denied an interview to?
“Her Majesty Angelina should show a bit of self-awareness and realize that she works for an industry that is indisputably cruel and unfair to actresses. It won’t be long before she commits the unpardonable sin of reaching middle age. The good roles will dry up…”
Believe me, Angelina knows what the deal is. Very, very few actresses are able to hang on in HW after 40. I don’t see her making the mistake X is making of hanging onto the same tired hairstyle and the same tired title of “America’s Sweetheart” when she’s pushing 40. Angelina has always said she doesn’t want to be remembered as an actress. She has her family and her humanitarian activities and those are her first priorities. She’s canny enough to know when to retire from acting. So Lee-whoever-he-is has nothing to worry about. You can bet Angelina isn’t worrying about anything. She has a life outside acting. Take away acting, and poor X has no life at all.

Hey Alex, mess is an understatement. i have to hand it to those who respond. They sure have the energy… to be honest, I just don’t have that anymore. It’s been over two years, we’ve had the same arguments a billion times yet these idiots come back again and again. Seriously, didn’t we go through this with Babel? Didn’t we have a “Ocean’s 13 will bomb Anthem?” If the past as taught us anything, it’s that these people will never let up, they live to hate…it’s as simple as that. So why bother?
Anyway, I read your review of AMH and I can’t wait, I tried to see it while I was in Boston but it proved a difficult task (long story for another day). I’m planning for wednesday.
25% taken in 3 days. Congratulations, Angie. Love you.

4 million out of 16 million budget is not bad in three days.
They say better late than never, angelina’s ego was getting out of control. Finally the fox incident happend and the media and people in general turned against her.
Now, it will be interesting to see if next year when she’s promoting “Wanted” and the Eastwood movie there is a change.
She pissed off very important people this time, john lesher and brad grey and a lot of media that used to be on her side.
A lot of insiders are happy that she got a wake up call, let’s see how long it lasts.
The Good Shepherd, Alexander and Sky Captain were NOT movies that Angie was the LEADING star!! But course, the haters blame Angelina Jolie instead of Blaming Matt Damon, Colin Farrell, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow who were the LEADING stars of this movies!! :lol:

I hope Angie does more indie movies. She is so UNDERRATED as an actress.
Since some of you are talking about Jennifer… her acting stinks.
hot hot hot……..
Angie is nowhere near 40, but Maniston is.
Also, she has said she wants to be known as a family woman, and humanitarian.
At the rate they are going with poor box office numbers, Brad and Angelina will soon be out of work. Who is it that I told that Angelina was box office poison. Now those who are casting her in wanted and Changeling should better be prepared for these box office disappointments. At least they will have an army of excuses from her besotted fans who camp here.
Since I have just commented about AMH, and not about Brad and Angie, let me just write again what Sean Smith said (for the sake of the triangle closure),
“Generally, when a relationship is happy and healthy, neither partner can be stolen by anybody.”

_____________________
sHE IS RIGHT THERE WITH MERYL STREEP and Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett…..And she will get a nomination for AMH….I dont consider Cruz, Diaz, or Barrymore in her league, since Diaz CANT ACT, Cruz needs to learn how to speak BETTER ENGLISH (AND IM CUBAN), AND Theron is done well but is AJ….
Go and watch the movie. It has a great lesson. Terrorists don’t care about triangles. The affect everybody when they strike. This has nothing to do with any individual. It is about a bigger picture.

That was good…. :lol:
Thanks JJ for the new thread. I´m sure the had a wonderful time in Bilbao.

Like Oscars with Brad this year were. LOL
Angelina is retiring from HW soon. She said so herself, she does not care about what the haters care about. Meanwhile she’s in for an oscar nomination. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
After all Anuston pity parties & gaining sympathy for the pathetic public she seemed cannot make a break in movies. The break-Up made $$ but it is because of Vince Vaughn capacity to attract viewers. Heck, if you compare The Break-up with the other Vince’s movie Wedding Crasher it pales in comparison. In fact you can see that his magic at the box-office went down the drain when he hooked up with fcuking ANUSton.
If you’re going to blame anybody for the travesty that was “Alexander”, blame Oliver Stone. He’ll never live that turkey down.
Angie should try pornography. May be she will get some success in sales that is proving to be so elusive.

Does she really want to be pitied as “poor Jen” for the rest of her life

Wth? Drew, Cameron, and Penelope shouldn’t be in the mix. Charlize is ok, but still not as good as Cate, Nicole, and Meryl streep.
Angelina really was amazing in A mighty heart. right up with the greats. I think she needs to do more movies like AMH and keep showing how good she is. stop with the fun crap she does just for the paycheck.
I’m glad that A MIGHTY HEART did well for a Independent movie!! Hey, at least this movie is doing so much better than THE GOOD GERMAN a indy movie made by the supposedly King Of Hollywood George Clooney!! :lol:

Hi AG, I hear you girl, and neither do I. I just read some of the comments and shake my head, because like you said it is the same thing over and over again, after a while it just get so tiresome. Some of these people have nothing better to do with their lives than to hate on people they don’t know and will never know. It is like that is all they live for and I feel sad for them. Cause it takes so much time and energy to hate.
I can’t wait for you to see it either. It is really a great movie AG. Angie was just incredible as Marianne. She did justice to the role. I am so proud of her.

+++++++++++++
I put her head of Diaz, Barrymore, Cruz and Theron…equal with Kidman…but nobody can touch Streep. Cate’s getting close and she’s the best actress of HER generation.
BTW - Diaz & Barrymore? Puh-leeze. Name one challenging role either of them has EVER played. Show me a Gia, Girl Interrupted, AMH, etc., in their repetoire. Drew Barrymore has been making the same rom-com for the past 8 years. Cameron Diaz does rom-coms and animation voice-overs and that’s about it. Comedy requires talent…but their roles have been very one dimensional. I wouldn’t even put their names in the same sentence with those other women.
No matter whatever those haters say, Brad & Angie are hollywood A-list stars. Brad’s plan B company has 20 movie projects going on and Brad has three movies that he stars in coming out. Angie has two movies coming out. But x has 0,nothing. So does her nobody, not even d-list toyboy.
156 bet | 06/24/2007 at 7:20 pm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think that Penelope Cruz is a great actress; however, she would be better off if she never sever ties with the Spanish film industry, since her best works were courtesy of them. Cameron Diaz needs to stick with bubbly women roles, although, like Meg Ryan, it may prove difficult to continue as she gets older. Charlize… I don’t know. While it would be easy to write her performance in Monster as the Grace Kelly Syndrome, she did transform herself into someone completely unrecognizable, but the fact that she hasn’t been working lately makes me wonder why.
But Angelina… I just don’t see her retiring for the same reasons as Demi Moore, who did get on people’s nerves for numerous reasons, and as we can still see, she is still famous because of her looks, as opposed to her ability.
Penelope Cruz?ahahahahaahaahhaha juasssssss
As a senior almost 60 I am surprised that Angelina’s and Brad’s peers(the people who go to the movies most) are so judgemental and the way they can not let go of the JA, BP, AJ thing is amazing to me. I have noticed that AJ BP and JA generate so many comments on all the sites, that my old behind is hurting from trying to read them all. Also, the meaness of the haters is sometimes very very funny You guys please chill out. It’s not that important, it can’t be I only got to comment 300 and something and there are about 722 (so far)Finally,as a senior I have a lot of trouble understanding the abbreviations(I did finally figure out LOL) I know Angelina because of her CNN specials with Anderson Cooper, and Brad Pitt well you’d have to dead not to love him! For all you delusional fans otu there trying to convince yourself that the movie is doing well, do you think at this moment Brad and Angelina are seated eating popcorn watching the box office figures and going ‘ wow, our small indie flick with 20 premieres is doing great at the box office?’
the maniston fans are drinking the kool-aid on her film career or should i say snorting the blow
paramount expected a 3.5-5.0M OPW, so the 4.06M OPW is within expectations. and does this cover the sunday numbers already? i believe it’s still night time in the U.S.
people should watch and appreciate a movie for it’s content and not who is in it. if you don’t watch amh just because of angelina, then you miss the learning opportunity.
hate is such a negative energy. i read a book - secrets by rhonda byrne, it says that if you allow hate to start your day, it will continue throughout the day.
allow tolerance in your life, not hate. peace to everyone.
AMH is thought-provoking and very interesting. Anyone who sees it with an open mind and heart is going to be touched by it. Winterbottom’s style is fast paced and has a “day in a life” feel. As a viewer, you feel as though the chain of events are taking place currently, right before your eyes. The filming is very organic…no special effects, minimal make-up on cast, natural lighting and a genuine setting. Seeing the images of Karachi reminded me of my travels to poverty stricken countries (although minimal, still eye opening) and realizing just how fortunate I am to be living in the U.S. On the flip side, however, it also reinforces my belief that so many of us live such insular lives. Many barely know their neighbors who live 20 feet away. It’s no wonder there are individuals on these posts who have nothing else to occupy their minds besides who wore a scarf first or how happy they are that AMH supposedly performed so-so at the box office.
I think Angelina is exceptional in this movie and an exceptional person in general. She deserves at least an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of MP. Irrfan Khan also deserves one for his role as the captain. They both brought authenticity and conviction to their characters.
I am all for people having fun on blogs and exchanging opinions. Sometimes I just wish it wasn’t so petty. But I have to say that the majority of BAMPZS fans are smart, witty and funny. You are an unusual bunch for sure.
Are you insane? LMAO. The numbers for AMH this weekend are better then the studio expected. This movie is a movie that will make it’s money WOM and overseas. This is not a movie geared towards American’s.
Brad and Angelina can pick and choose any project they want to work on. Brad Pitt has more money then god with that production company and that’s what he’s working towards. Maybe a film here and there but the majority will be producing.
Personally, I’m a little ashamed of engaging in fashion-talk, especially with regards to what celebs wear during the downtime. Just because it’s all a certain person alleged have doesn’t means it has to extend to Angelina.
I guess the question we all have to ask ourselves is whether we are good with our lives as well as our association with this board and fellow posters here, whether they’re fans or haters. On the whole, I am good; I saw a good movie that I will more than likely see again because there are things that I’m confused about. I am good with this board, despite the onslaught of haters and some wishy-washy ‘fans’ who have impulse control issues or who are so obsessive-compulsive that they can’t stand anything that counters their vision for this couple and their children.
Scrolling will resolve that, to a degree, but if more posters don’t take a stand against having this board hijacked by disgruntled haters who bathed themselves with interviews of people they profess to hate, and opt to post about something that interests themselves,we won’t have anything to scroll toward.
721 BRAD NEVER LOVED X | 06/24/2007 at 6:43 pm
It’s official. Thanks to all who have been posting vintage Brad interviews. It’s clear as day that he married her becasue it was the thing to do. She married him to social climb the Hollywood ladder. She was successful because everyone’s mind is tricked into thinking she’s some A list actress. She and Huvan even managed to trick the Academny into inviting her to become a voting member. When you look at that list her name sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s like a joke. I’m sure the likes of Helen Mirren, Nicole Kidman, Ridley Scott, Steven Spielber, etc.. are thrilled that her name is there…NOT! That gravy is still trickling. No one asked Lisa Kudrow or Coutney Cox and they are better actors and they have also been in films. If she were not married to Brad she would be with the likes of Kudrow and the rest of that Friends motley crew. She rode the gravy train for all it was worth. Now her time is finished and she’s trying to hang on with her Smartwater and “going out” with all sorts of shady characters.
X never loved Brad either. It’s very obvious. It shows on her nasty face and will show more and more as she grows old with wiskers and hair coming out of her chest and those infamous nipples. Right now she is the most hated, bitter exwife in Hollywood. That money she made on Friends is so out of the galaxy compared to her co-stars just because she was married to Brad. ILL GOTTEN GAINS. It’s now creating tensions with the ex co-stars.
Thank goodness that whole Golden couple NIGHTMARE is over big time with lessons learned by all. Brad lost all those years with X. What was the point of that marriage? Really. X is not relevant today. She is a relic of the 90’s. I’m more of a Brad fan than Jolie, but I can tell you that Jolie is more authentic than X will ever, ever be.
——————————–
I’m more of a Angie fan than Brad, and I’ve always thought X was fake. I was never really interested in Brad until he was with Angie, but I do think he is a good guy who went through a VERY confusing time in his life.
I was wondering, since you seem to be a longtime Brad fan, did you ever find him inauthentic? I love Angie for her honesty but reading all these old Brad interview quotes today leaves me feeling somewhat hesitant about Brad’s authenticity. What about you? And I’m not a hater, I really am interested in knowing your opinion since you are a Brad fan first
Btw, I brought this post over from the last thread because I still want to know your opinion.
The problem with you fans is that you are deluded, you waited for Brad’s oscar this year, and said AMH was going to be a hit. Now it has bombed and you have so many excuses. Do you just enjoy setting yourselves up for a fall?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Angelina will no be part of the oscars nominees next year. This movie is done. There were a lot of mistakes done by Paramount and Plan B.
1. The marketing of the movie: Angelina did too many interviews and her private life went all over the place, the regular folk new about her wanting 14 kids but not enough about the movie. For this kind of movie she should have choose a magazine like Interview.
2. The time of the release, Paramount Vantage ego got a little bruised here, they tought after the sucess in Cannes, good reviews and angelina were going to sell the movie better. They should have waited until the fall.
3. The fox incident was a huge blow, believe or not. She needed the support of the press here. The oscars are like high school, angelina right now is not a favorite.
Next year, when Clint movie is out and keeping a low profile until then plus a few PR moves well done, will be her best chance.
The movie did as expected. Congratulations Angie.
EXACTLY. This movie isnt a rom-com or a big budget action film. It’s a serious subject matter that has a very specific way of unfolding a story that everyone knows about. It’s told from Mariane’s point of view.
They all talked about this at Cannes, how they *knew* it was a tough sell with the public and they were concerned about getting the message out to see it because they believe it award worthy. The last part said by Brad Pitt himself.
8) Develop her own relationships and stop being the perpetual third wheel in Courtney’s and Sheryl’s relationships.
But the above takes real effort, and it’s a lot easier to b*tch and moan and throw endless pity parties. So I don’t see any of this happening any time soon.
Unless she gets her act together, and fast, she will become even more of a joke than she is now. Does she really want to be pitied as “poor Jen” for the rest of her life?
++++++++++++++++++
Jill…it’s nice of you to offer such lovely advice to X, but I’ve got an even better idea - SHE CAN GO THE FCUK AWAY! Just gracefully admit defeat and call it a day on her mediocre movie career, take her $110MIL and retire to Fiji or some damned place. That would solve everyone’s problems.
I watched the movie yesterday and it sucked for most part. Angelina is too superficial. Like she is trying so hard. No worth those 108 minutes. Wait for it on TV.
Saw the movie but I was kind of disappointed, I don’t mind Angelina, that is why I went to watch for the opening weekend but simple advice, wait for the DVDs, it isnot worth the cinema. Accent is to bothrsome and even tires you the person watching.
++++++++++++++
If you found Angie’s accent “bothersome,” then I suggest you stay away from interviews with Mariane Pearl herself. Angie nailed her accent cold.
predictions are like a heart everyone has one, lets wait for the oscar noms before making predictions, and if you’re wrong and she gets one then what happens to you , you have nothing at stake so why should i take your prediction over anyone else, now if you had your mortgage or money on your prediction i might take you seriously but if you’re wrong you lose nothing which makes your prediction futile.
. At least they will have an army of excuses from her besotted fans who camp here.
You got that part right anyway, We will always support the Jolie-Pitts, meanwhile, Man, is out Ho’n around for the next coattail,,
Janice - actually you’ve got it wrong.
Next year, Jolie is working on her role as an Activist..now that she is part of the Council of Foreign Relations.
Remember, she has bee telling us all year…for about 3 times…that every day she wakes up and read about International Law…
Whereas you haters think Jolie breath HW daily…she is prepping for something that she is very very passionate about…more so that acting…Activism and Foreign policy. That is what she does every day in between looking after her kids.
In short, Kate - you’ve got Jolie all figured out WRONG.
Since we’re talking about box office, how in the hell Evan Almighty budget was 200 million? it’s a freaking comedy!
After the sucess of the 40 year old virgin and The Office everyone was saying how Steve Carell was a powerplayer, now that his movied tanked big time, they are saying : He is not Jim Carrey!
You gotta love the media.
Whuh? The James Bond books were written by Ian Fleming.
Now those who are casting her in wanted and Changeling should better be prepared for these box office disappointments. At least they will have an army of excuses from her besotted fans who camp here.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Wanted - she’s not the lead. Also depends how Universal does the marketing of the movie, in my opinion angelina shouldn’t talk much. If the movie has good visual effects it will do fine. It’s a movie for 14-15 year old boys who think more about jacking off than free press. The less she talks and she healthy and hotter she looks, the movie will be ok.
The Changenling - Depends on the rest of the cast, until now we only know angelina if they put together an amazing cast, like Mystic River and Eastwood does his thing, the movie will do fine in a fall - oscar season release.
All eastwood movies start slow at the BO then after award season pick up.
More questions?
So let me say that Babel didn’t even crack the top ten. It was very good and you this movie with a new respect for life.
Babel cracked top ten. AMH is being promoted the same way. It will make $100 million by the time it is over.
mommy and daddy time is over,tomorrow,papa pitt will resume on his daddy’s duty.atta lyf!
i just came back from watching the movie. really good and sad knowing the outcome. angelina was great. i cried until the end knowing daniel pearl has a son he’ll never meet. these ladies in back of me we’re all crying as well. most of the audience were adults and a lot of seniors. it’s really for the mature audience i think. anyway great cast. people need to watch it for themselves before they judge.
Great post, dina #1! AMH is for the thinking public, not for the masses who go to the movies to escape reality. They need mindless blockbusters.
PLEASE This site is getting so boring, thanks to the haters. My God, every single day the same.
I want to read interesting comments, not posts about JA. Let me just tell you this: You can´t even start to compare Angie with the X. Angie is a great actress, (well knwon all over the world); a humanitarian and an excellent mother…what about the X?…nothing, nada, and you know it.
love how the brangelina fans think they KNOW brangelina
Nice pics.
i dont want to watch AMH again,b/c i got colds from crying.but my cousin want me to accompany her,so,i’ll go again!i’ll get a giant popcorn.
I think I became a fan of Brad in ‘97 or ‘98 when I watched him on Oprah for Meet Joe Black. It was fascinating watching this man navigating himself among graspy, possessive women, which was evident when he answered questions about the movie and his past. He just came across as polite, genuine, and patient, especially when the audience and Oprah tried to turn it into love-fest for ___, which by extension, a love-fest for themselves. My personal opinion, the only ingenuine moments on the show was when he answered that he would do a love scene with Oprah and that his favorite TV couple was Ross and Rachel. $h*t, he proclaimed quite proudly that All in the Family was the greatest TV show of all time.
Anyway, while I was looking for a blank tape for the AFI special, and found the 2004 Oprah interview. I recorded it for the ladies at work and was quite surprised that I saved it, since I didn’t watch it during its initial run. During the interview, he was very complimentary toward ___; that didn’t feel genuine, but the audience was happily eating out of his hands. Actually, I do think he was trying to be sincere, but there was something about him that seemed defeated. I smiled to myself since Oprah mentioned his filming O12 and MAMS. I do think that the appearence was a public, albeit, private way to syche himself up to work on the marriage. But ___ confirmed in a 2006 Harper’s interview that it was all for not, since the marriage was over in the summer of 2004.
I liked the ‘97/’98 Brad; went to Meet Joe Black(twice) and Fight Club(twice) because of that Brad. I even mustered some curiosity for that animated movie, Sinbad, which to me, wasn’t that bad. But a curtain came down and stayed down when he married ___. Maybe it was me and my belief that if something was ‘right’, it shouldn’t have to be sold so hard. Back then, I wasn’t on the internet as much as now… actually, maybe I was, but I didn’t have to seek out any info about those two, because it was supposedly the ideal. I never felt it, therefore I wasn’t hurt or bothered when it ended.
I do like Brad again, since he hooked up with Angelina. While on paper, they shouldn’t work, but isn’t it a pleasant surprise that it is? ;)
CANTON, Ohio - A former classmate of the man suspected of murdering a pregnant woman was arrested Sunday on an obstruction of justice charge, the FBI said. Myisha Ferrell of Canton was arrested in the death of 26-year-old Jessie Davis after sheriff’s deputies and FBI agents broke down the door of her apartment Saturday night and searched it, agent Scott Wilson said.
so sad :( it’s like the Lacy peterson case all over again.
They say better late than never, angelina’s ego was getting out of control. Finally the fox incident happend and the media and people in general turned against her.
Now, it will be interesting to see if next year when she’s promoting “Wanted” and the Eastwood movie there is a change.
She pissed off very important people this time, john lesher and brad grey and a lot of media that used to be on her side.
A lot of insiders are happy that she got a wake up call, let’s see how long it lasts.
++++++++++++++
Puh-leeze. That contract that Angie’s attorney put out is no different than the thousands of contracts issued to the media every year…and be lesser stars than Angelina. There were plenty of people in the media who were NOT offended - including the people at CBS This Morning who said they were NOT asked to sign anything and were not restricted on their questions - and said that FOX and Roger Friedman made a mountain out of a molehill. Kinda like you’re continuing to do.
As for Brad Grey being mad at Angelina? Yeah…right. Like Brad Grey is really going to pissing off his friend and former business partner over something Brad himself did not a week earlier. Grow up. It’s done all the time and the only reason FOX made a big deal out of it was because it was Angelina and they thought they’d deliberately not beein invited tot he AMH premiere when in fact it was merely an oversight. FOX paranoia and your wishful thinking are both comical in an ugly, sad and pathetic way.
You’re very naive.
Milli,#55,
WHY DO YOU ARGUE WITH THAT “person”?
Angie has a fantastic style in everything she wears. She has POSTURE, BUILD, BEAUTY, YOUTH, to wear all the amazing dresses she has been wearing throughout the years.
Most of all, I love that silk white dress thaat she wore as a presenter at the Oscar’s a few years ago.
That Versace gown that she wore at the MAMS premiere - would wear Maniston - just not the type for such an elegant yet SEXY gown.
Maniston looks like a BEACH BUM in everything she wears, she is SIMPLY classless aand not built for some serious fashion –ask Karl Lagerfeld - she ruined one of his creations.
Maniston is PROVEN classless, inside and out.
We got to KNOW her in the past few years by way of her interviews, etc. She’s not RACHEL!
HOW difficult is it to get it?????????????????
I LIKE TO BE ANGIE’S FAN. She is a great person, hardworking, honest, brainy, caring, kind and a classic beauty.
This is why she is SUCCESSFUL in everything she does.
LOVE HER!
I think you just answered your own question. If YOU had that face…wouldn’t you cover it? I know I would. It’s too close to that kid in Mask for me…
What happend with Meli? she used to posts a lot of good articles and pics.
I think that she meant that this person reviews books; maybe a literary critic. The ‘james bond’ was probably meant as a jab against the poster’s ability to figure $h*t out. A comma was necessary, surely. ;)
It was crazy while it lasted, now we won’t have any more premiers, interviews etc until october for Jesse James and no more angie till March of 08.
Paramount knew exactly who they were getting when Angelina signed on to do AMH. She is not an unknown to anyone. They also knew just how unwilling many in the US are to face the hard truths in life. Look at how poorly big budget well made films about 9/11 failed to generate interest last year. US audiences tend to like to be spoon fed happiness, fantasy, violence, science fiction, etc. For example a movie about toys, “Transformers” is coming out soon, violence and fantasy, it will do big numbers (of course it also cost big numbers to make). They very seldom support films that make one acknowledge that another world outside the US exists. AMH is such a film.
Anyone who cares about the feelings of someone whining at Fox News, someone who is not a big Fox News star, Fox News which routinely distorts and slants reality to fit its owner’s twisted beliefs, the same Fox News owner who has admitted and is proud he lied to get US to invade Iraq, is someone I feel sorry for. Bill O’Reilly supports Angelina and he is the biggest star in the Fox News universe. He said it was all much ado about nothing.
The studio gave Brad and Plan B a minute amount of money to work with, to produce an indie film with an indie director. The studio knew this would not be some type of blockbuster. It was released in the summer probably because of the date of World Refugee Day. The film made an amount that fell within Paramount’s own estimates. AMH will make good money internationally and Paramount will be happy with that.
Those of you with fake concerns about Angelina’s career, stuff it. Angelina has said that she wants to be remembered as a humanitarian. She also says that her family is what she is most proud of in her life, not her career in movies. She is taking a year off after she completes the Changeling with Clint Eastwood. Does she sound worried about her movie career? She is only 32. She has her head on straight. She is saying for all to hear, “making movies is great, but my family, Brad and our kids are the greatest things in my life, they are my number one priority”. A wise wise lady.
look at those smiles…..something happen beyond der expectation…aaahhhhh life.
I guess I’ve stolen your 12 year-old’s style too, ham ($48). :lol:
Over the last four years, fighting in the Darfur region of western Sudan has left 200,000 dead and driven another 2.5 million people from their homes. Now, having survived violence, atrocities and abductions, they are living in squalor in refugee camps in Chad and Sudan.
The situation is definitely grim but there is some good news: the world is finally starting to pay attention, in no small part due to concerned citizens who are ratcheting up the heat on political leaders and demanding an end to the violence.
Numerous magazines and newspapers have written about the impact that the citizens’ movement has had on influencing important players to take the appropriate action. A concerned population is refusing to allow Darfur to fall off the radar of the public’s consciousness.
By merging our desire to contribute to a resolution of this crisis and our passion for poker we hope to raise money and public awareness for this important cause.
Think this is the last set of pics of them proving their love(like Jen & Brad did days before separation) and then blamo Angie will tell everyone what happened (brad will remain silent). Now that AMB (almighty bomb) has premeired.
They are ticket anchors, well I would say Angie is. Hard to sell something when you have someone like her promoting her kids instead of the movie. KARMA, seems like she is getting hers been a very rough 2007 for her. hmmmmm
I just checked GP pictures, I really didn’t know how she looks like, now I know. I’m glad Brad prefers Angelina, she is way, way beautiful than GP. No wonder Brangelina clicks & they sparks too.
subject to availability.good luck der.
Saw AMH this weekend–Jolie’s performance was outstanding. Having lost a husband myself, I relived exactly how it felt. Haven’t cried like that in a movie in a long time…
Any talk about Oscars this early is pure speculation so I have nothing to say as to that. However, I have seen AMH, I found it to be heartbreaking and Angelina’s performance to be outstanding. She became MPearl. The audience was older and the theatre was about 80% full. No little children running arond screaming or babies crying, it was blissful. Everyone stayed in their seats as the end credits rolled. I plan to see it again.
Angelina and Brad practice keeping the fire between them burning, they do not neglect finding all important time for just the two of them. They find ways to keep adding and supplying fuel like this little quick trip to Spain without the four little ones. Good for them.
@ 11. karma- the scarf may look better on jen but brad looks better with angie :)
Jennifer Aniston - From a hair cut to Hollywood’s Sweetheart?
Jennifer Aniston has long been considered Hollywood’s official girl next door. However, as Canadian gossip guru Lainey Liu points out, she’s only the girl next door if “you live in a $7 million mansion with another $10 million in upgrades,” which, presumably, most of us don’t. We’d like to extrapolate a little on Lainey’s logic. The girls next door to most of us do not count Brad Pitt and Vince Vaughan on their ex-boyfriend list. The girls next door to most of us occasionally have bad hair days. Even if you added up all the paycheques they’ve ever earned in their lifetimes, the girls next door to most of us have not earned a million dollars, much less earned it in a week’s worth of work. And, while I can’t speak for all girls out there, I can say with certainty that I have never noticed Courtney Cox Arquette popping by the apartment of the girl next door to me for a girl’s night.
No matter how you look at it, Jennifer Aniston’s experiences do not typify those of the all-American girl, next door or otherwise. Nevertheless, fans can’t help but see Jennifer Aniston as Rachael Green. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that she first became famous for being a good Friend.
Few of us have memories of Jennifer Aniston before her role as Rachel Green on the TV series Friends.
Even more exciting than Jennifer Aniston hair, however, was the news of Jennifer Aniston’s new boyfriend. The girl next door had nabbed the Hollywood heartthrob: Brad Pitt.
Jennifer Aniston shared private little tidbits with the press, such as her plans to quit smoking and start a family.
Apparently,both her plans fell through. Photographers continued to snap photos of Jen puffing away, later attaching intriguing captions to the photos of the once-happy Jennifer: “He wants a baby. She wants to work. Can Brad and Jen survive?” Rumors flew. No one, it seemed, could accept that these two perfect people could be perfectly happy. And so it seems they were not.
And then, one day in 2005 one horrible rumor proved true.
Brad Pitt had fallen in love with his co-star on Mr. and Mrs. Smith. He was leaving the toned arms of Jennifer Aniston into the even fitter ones of Angelina Jolie. It’s never been confirmed that Brad Pitt is a cheater or that Angelina Jolie was a homewrecker;Jennifer believes there was no cheating and the two maintain they were just friends until Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston had split up over irreconcilable differences. But Jennifer’s fans still believe that the only “irreconcilable difference” here was the fact that Brad Pitt had fallen for the beautiful Angelina Jolie.
It was the Girl Next Door versus the High School Vixen—except that in this case, the High School Vixen was actually a world-renowned humanitarian, an actress with a repertoire far more diverse than Jen’s,consider the most beautiful woman in the world and generally hard to dislike . Brad and Jen fans tried to hate Angelina Jolie. Tabloids, too, tried to make Brad and Jen fans hate Angelina Jolie, publicizing the fact that Jennifer Aniston’s divorce had landed her into therapy,never mind that she was already in therapy. Nothing worked. When the first online photos of baby Shiloh appeared, no one could help but coo.
Eventually, the tabloids gave up. Brad Pitt smitten and in love, put the ticking of his own paternal clock and happiness above the career aspirations of his career driven wife. And the world certainly wasn’t ready to dislike Brad Pitt. It was much easier for everyone to just put the whole thing aside, let Brangelina adopt children in peace, and focus instead on the future.
After all, Jennifer Aniston certainly was. She’d rebounded into the bed of hunky actor Vince Vaughan. Again, rumors flew: was Vince Vaughan about to pop the question? No, he wasn’t. Unlike Pitt, Vince Vaughan wasn’t ready to smile for the camera. He escaped Jennifer Aniston’s paparazzi-plagued universe, but the two remain friends.
To finish up, let’s do a quick rundown of the headlines Jennifer Aniston is making these days. Her best friend is Courtney Cox Arquette, with whom she shared a kiss on camera to help boost ratings for Courtney Cox’s fledgling new show. Her biggest enemy is Angelina Jolie, whom Jen still blames for the divorce even though Jen herself has said and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie swear, they didn’t hook up until after Brad and Jen had split. She lives in a multimillion-dollar Los Angeles home, and has a film directorial debut on the way.
Is Jennifer Aniston really America’s Girl Next Door? Go take a look at the girl next door to you, who is probably bingeing on cheap ice cream in front of Friends reruns, watching her second-hand phone and hoping that cute guy from her crappy workplace where she makes her measly entry-level salary will call. Then, decide.
‘Evan’ on top, but ‘1408′ surprises
Stephen King thriller checks in at No. 2
By IAN MOHR
‘Evan Almighty’
“Evan Almighty” floated the boat of enough moviegoers to take the No. 1 slot at the box office, but it’s an ocean or two behind its predecessor.
Universal’s contempo comedic take on the Noah’s Ark tale starring Steve Carell, washed ashore with $32.1 million, far short of the $68 million brought in by 2003’s predecessor “Bruce Almighty.” Earlier pic starred Jim Carrey.
MGM and Weinstein Co. pic “1408″ checked in as a surprise No. 2 as the Stephen King adaptation took $20.1 million, just edging out “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” in that franchise pic’s second frame.
After the summer got off to a torrid start last month, weekend was the fourth straight in which the domestic B.O. did not match the same frame a year ago: Box office for the top 10 combined was $122.6 million, according to Rentrak, vs. $124.7 million a year ago, when Adam Sandler’s “Click” led the field.
Meanwhile, “Evan Almighty” sailed to a per-location average of $8,910 from 3,604 theaters. Pic was Carell’s biggest starring vehicle opener yet, according to Nielsen EDI, surpassing the $21.4 million opening for “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” in 2005. That pic went on to hit about $109.4 million.
U brass said they were encouraged by exit polls for “Evan Almighty” and were hoping auds would discover the laffer in later frames.
In a summer of highly anticipated sequels, “Evan” is one of the first big-budget tentpoles to turn in lackluster numbers in its debut after most have bowed to record-breaking numbers or at least stayed close to their predecessors’ preems.
The PG-13 rated “1408,” a paranormal thriller starring John Cusack, arrived in theaters to solid notices, but tracking as of Thursday had suggested the movie would hit in the teen millions and no further.
However, the pic attracted a large female audience — comprising 53% of its ticket buyers — over the frame. That helped it draw the biggest opening for a Stephen King lit adaptation to date.
Among other new openers, Paramount Vantage’s politically charged “A Mighty Heart,” starring Angelina Jolie, made the No. 10 spot with $4 million off 1,355 locations in North America.
That translated into only $2,956 per theater for the pic by Michael Winterbottom after Paramount Vantage made an aggressive play at a time when specialty films have been delivering in limited platform release patterns.
Rest of the chart was dominated by holdovers, with Fox’s Marvel sequel “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” slipping 65% from its first weekend, raising cume after two frames to $97.6 million. First pic in the series hit $154.6 million domestically.
Fox said that the pic’s drop was expected after a bigger opening than had been predicted as the best Father’s Day bow of all time.
Warner Bros.’ “Ocean’s Thirteen” dropped another 42% to take cume up to $91 million after three weekends in release. Pic has now sailed past the domestic B.O. of “Ocean’s Twelve,” which rolled to $86.6 million at the same point in its release.
U’s “Knocked Up” held steady, dropping under 25% and taking cume up to nearly $109 million. Pic is the eighth of the year to surpass $100 million.
Other notable mark this weekend went to DreamWorks Animation’s “Shrek the Third,” which crossed the $300 million mark over the frame.
Disney’s latest “Pirates of the Caribbean” pic took the No. 6 slot in its fifth frame.
Warner Bros.’ “Nancy Drew” slid just 34% after a soft opening. Pic has clued in $16.1 million after two frames.
Interestingly, “1408″ succeeded while hard R-rated horror has been struggling of late: Lionsgate’s “Hotel Part II” arrived this summer only to slide off the top 10 charts in three weekends.
Bob Weinstein said that the pic’s perf proves that horror is not a monolithic genre. “There are 100 subgenres for every genre,” he said. For comedies, there are 50 kinds. And this is like a classic Stephen King movie.”
MGM distribution head Clark Woods added that the PG-13 rating drew a wider swath of auds to the pic, and that a release date change — away from July 13 to bow before “Transformers” — paid off as well.
alright!alright!last photograph?yeah!because the next photogs”YES I’M PREGNANT AGAIN”
Anyone know about how much longer Angelina will be filming Wanted in Prague?
OMG… I can’t believe that we’ve overlooked this. Since Brad and Angelina were able to take a weekend trip, that means that Pax has let go of his overattachment to Angelina and is really adjusting. Remember when she talked about his hating her being away for more than a few hours?
Yay, Pax!!
Here’s Daddy congratulating him (Pax’s monkey seemed pretty stoked, too!)
how brave of you to imply that angie having a tough year i.e. her mom dying has to do with karma, you maniston b itches are something else, i be honest with you death in the family happens to everyone and when your turn comes, which it will, i hope jennifer aniston we’ll be there to console you since you think she’s family, now thats karma
I personally don’t think Angie having a senior fan base is surprising. A senior, a person between 50 and what, is usually a person who has had some very diverse and challenging life experiences. They have probably seen and done things in their lives that they regret, alterted their lives, changed their opinons, and made them more aware and open, and made them realize that no one is perfect. And that the expectations placed on a person by people who do not know this person, or people who want to exploit that person are unrealistic and self serving. I think as people age and start questioning their own mortality and the lives they have led they become more forgiving and understanding. They realize that their lives have not been free of sin, and therefore are less likely to judge a person and wish them harm or evil. It is only a person who has not self actualized that feels he/she is perfect and therefore can call someone names and feel comfortable sentencing them to hell and beyond. Seniors tend to want to use their time getting their own houses in order and doing things that will promote good mental, physical, and spititual health. Least I sound to Pollyannaish, their are some seniors that are just old and crabby. But we can forgive them. Because we all know getting old is a *****. :happy: Peace
Great post
Every thing that BP and AJ do, some crazed hen wants to equate it with Aniston. BP and AJ take a love getaway and hens cry, “He did that with Jen”. People really need to move on. Every celebrity that has divorced were able to move on with their lives. The whine factor is getting old and stale. BP and AJ are together, raising children. They seem to be slowly fazing out of the whole Hollywood thing. BP has a successful production company and has made many profitable and enjoyable films. A mighty Heart is a film that all parties that worked on it can be proud of. It is a film worth seeing. Whatever happens in regards to awards, it will happen. However, I am glad that I got to see an inspiring film. Peace to all.
OFMG, Sam, you really need to cut the sh*t. At least change your writing style. It gives you away every single time.
You ******** have had Brad and Angie “breaking up” for the past two years now. He was supposed to dump her before the baby was born. Then they were supposed to split right after the baby was born. Then they were supposed to break up over one damn thing or another for the next year and a half or so. Then Brad was pissed off over Pax’s adoption and wanted out. Then they were supposed to split right before/after Cannes. Will you loser NEVER give up?
Oh, yeah — about the movie “bombing”… first you said it wouldn’t make $2 million over the weekend. Then you said it wouldn’t meet the studio’s expectations. Now it’s already met the studio’s expectations but it’s still a “bomb” because it’s only #10 in the top ten. Face it, hon… you were WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, and you are still WRONG.
You really need to haul ass over to the X threads and lend your dead-in-the-water idol some moral support. I understand the gigolo bailed already.
You all know it’s true. You even comment how much better Angelina dresses now. She looks classier. So why deny it? She’s trying out a new style… Jennifer Aniston’s and it looks good, it’s just not authentic on Angelina.
Put it this way, luv… Angelina puts on a $26 dress and makes it look like $2,600.
Poor Jen puts on a $2,600 dress and makes it look like $26.
Angelina would look drop-dead gorgeous in a Pillsbury flour sack with three Xs on it.
Poor Jen looks better with a Pillsbury flour sack over her head.
Actually, I did reference Meg Ryan as an example of a career stalling after playing bubbly women. I guess my thing is that when Cameron attempted to stretch herself in In Her Shoes, or tried to play a Diane Keaton-type in that Holiday movie, it didn’t work for me. I liked her in There’s Something About Mary, but her part wasn’t that big.
It had the 5th best screen/per showing avg. out of the Top 10. That’s not bad for this type of film.
Angelina have fans all over the world with different ages & color, as Asian American, I think of her as a role model for others. Her & Brad uses their money & being in the limelight in a positive ways. Not so many actors do what they do. I hope, more actors will follow their leads.
I don’t understand the hate that other fans are posting in this site, as I said, we have to get along, so much hate already around the world.Please, don’t include Angelina’s mom to this, she is now in God’s hands. Peace to the world. God bless you all.
AMH is an outstanding movie! I saw it this afternoon. The audience was diverse and the theater was 1/2 full. AJ was phenomenal and the Michael W. should receive a director’s award. This movie was suspenseful and heart-wrenching at the same time.
I would be very surprisede if AMH does not get any GG or Oscar nods during awards season. Wouldn’t it be great if both AJ and BP are nominated and win?
so maniston got dumped again, this chick can’t hold on to a man can she, that powder problem is a reltionship killer
Spin it any way you want to, Sambo, you still can’t say the movie bombed. Being in the top 10 doesn’t constitute a “bomb” except in your fevered imagination.
And no matter how hard you pray for it to happen, Brad is not going back to X. He is not leaving Angelina. Angelina is not leaving him. They are a family. They are committed to each other and their children.
Now go wipe your eyes, blow your nose and watch a Jennifer videotape. Maybe looking at Rumor Has It for the hundred and tenth time will cheer you up.
#306 RAYNA…..IM CROSSING MY LEGZ AND FINGERS.
First, The Good Shepherd bombed.
and now:
“A Mighty Heart” bombed at the box office. Less than $4 mil in over 1300 theaters in Northern America (!!!)
I rest my case.
#30, Angelina is a great actress. Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett and Charlize Theron are as well. Penelope Cruz and Drew Barrymore are not in that league, but are talented in certain kinds of films. Cameron Diaz cannot act her way out of a paper bag.
Well, you asked…
rainbow #130 kate #123 loved your posts.
You know I came to these boards because of the positive, mostly pro Brad&Angie content and responses. I love all the contributions of info and videos, quotes, articles, etc.
A gaggle of like-minded people that love this family, basking in their love and successes…..
But the venomous, petty attacks on jenaniston and worse, towards other posters (for the most inocuous reasons) is just sickening.
I am honest about the fact that I have not been a jenfan—-I was TeamJolie from the getgo and I’ve chuckled to many things that I’ve read here that made fun of Brad’s ex.
But the mindless, catty, and downright vicious name-calling that goes on is turning this lovely community into a cesspool just like the others.
Don’t you people get it: the more you bring up jenaniston every time you are on a B&A thread, the more you hysterically attack another poster for their view—–you are just fueling the ANISTON/HUVANE JUGGERNAUT and giving the tabloids endless fodder FOR FREE.
100’s of hits on a gossip site attracts attention—this is a fulltime job for somebody. And what is it that they are concluding?
That the Bermuda Triangle still lives in the hearts of countless women who simply cannot get enough squeezing every ounce of drama out of this celebrity story.
EVERYONE INVOLVED HAS MOVED ON but as long as we keep showing up on these boards in droves and perpetuate the soap opera–we signal that we are still hungry for more!
Some of you are good at writing up a good informative post speculating about these people. It makes for an interesting read for a lot of us. That is not what I am talking about.
Its about the ones that come on here to just post a nasty remark here and there—why bother? It justinspires more of the same and eventually turns this place into a mean spirited garbage dump IMHO.
I saw AMH last nite and it was just a truly wonderful movie. Angelina is an A-list talent and she is now at the top of her game.
There is a saying: ‘methinks thou doest protest
too much”
Constantly responding to haters that try to provoke by suggesting this movie will be a flop shows a deep insecurity, dontcha know?
As fans, we have NOTHING to fear.
This movie is a class act. Nobody, not even a hater will see this movie and (honestly) pan it. It. just. is. a. really. welldone. piece. of. cinema. The cream will rise to the top.
Stop being so impatient to get ‘revenge’ or whatever it is. (and believe me, I have friends who would not go with me to the movie last nite because they’re team aniston STILL—
Sure they irk me –but I know why they can’t stomach going: ’cause they know damn well that Angie is the real deal and this movie is genuinely good. Its just a matter to time for that to be the consensus. When you honestly know something you don’t need to protest like a maniac–it belies your confidence.
Please show contrast with the haters.
Don’t be the flipside of them with their mindless, misinformed attacks on Brad&Ange.
Compare who we are supporting compared to them.
We have every reason to be cool, calm and collected.
Be smug about it (if that’s your bag) or just smile and feel the joy.
But please, try to keep the catty remarks on the downlow. :-)
The Good Shepherd and the The Mighty Heart both BOMBED!!
LOL The movie did not bomb.
I know a lot of you have your fingers crossed for it to do well overseas. But what if it does exponentially well overseas versus here? Wouldn’t that be disgraceful, given the fact that some American journalists are going through great pains to taint it because, per their words, it’s about freedom of speech. SPOILER ALERT Again, I thought it was about the dangers of misinformation and irresponsible journalism for the sake of being the first to fill-in-the-blank.End of SPOILER
That prospect would make me sad, especially if those who missed out on this movie because of our journalists had to depend on the international community to relay the truth to them.
Those of you with fake concerns about Angelina’s career, stuff it. Angelina has said that she wants to be remembered as a humanitarian. She also says that her family is what she is most proud of in her life, not her career in movies. She is taking a year off after she completes the Changeling with Clint Eastwood. Does she sound worried about her movie career? She is only 32. She has her head on straight. She is saying for all to hear, “making movies is great, but my family, Brad and our kids are the greatest things in my life, they are my number one priority”. A wise wise lady.
——
Thank you very much for that. I’m sorry but a lot of you are really sad. I can’t understand why you even spend your time here. It’s really REALLY weird. I don’t see the appeal.
I saw AMH last night and the movie was amazing to me the movie did pretty well at least for a movie of that standered like they said this movie was made for certain type of adiance…they are so happy that im happy.
I came to NY last Friday and tried to find theaters showing AMH, but could not. The 1300 something opening sites means that you have to really search for the theaters.
I have not seen the movie so far (as I mentioned I contacted several theaters nearby but they did not carry AMH - too bad). I do not know where to go to see it. I am now in Flushing, NY. If anybody knows how to search for the theater, help me please.
Angelina Jolie surpasses the promise of long-ago roles in “A Mighty Heart.” With grace and grit, she disappears into director Michael Winterbottom and writer John Orloff’s adaptation of Mariane Pearl’s politically compassionate memoir-elegy about husband Daniel. Dan Futterman is appealing if muted as the Wall Street Journal South Asia Bureau chief kidnapped then killed by jidahis in Karachi, Pakistan. Jolie’s performance will continue to be mentioned into awards season. But the beauty of this star’s turn is how emotionally woven it is into the lovely work of an understated ensemble (Archie Punjabi, Irrfan Khan, Will Patton). There’s poetry in that. Pearl didn’t write her book just so son Adam could know his father. She wrote it to help us all battle this age of fear.|Lisa Kennedy
============================================
Don’t you get it? The pretty people always win. I know you know that because your fat, smelly self has had to sit on the sidelines and watch it most of your miserable life.
People stop defending this movie. It cost 16 mil right? It made 4 million right. That is not bad. It hasn’t open everywhere yet. There are places in the US where it hasn’t open. Someone posted an opening schedule yesterday. It will still be opening in September in some places. This has absolutely nothing to do with the triangle, over exposure, the x, nothing. This is a thinking persons film. It is well know that these types of films are a hard sell no matter who is in them. Angie said as much. Don’t get pulled into a boxoffice trap.
It is so funny the trolls know and understand the “fans” better than the fans know and understand the trolls. Last week someone posted a statement supposedly from People magazine. The statement said something about JPitt and family saying they love x, blah, blah, blah. No one bothered to check to see if this was true. I went to People’s wed site and there was not such statement or notice that one was going to be in the up coming issue. My gawd the time and energy that was spent discussing this, the anger that was directed toward the Pitt family was as one fan said was embarrassing. Finally someone brought forth a People and said no such statement existed. That still didn’t immediatelly stop the discussion. Once the wheel starts down the hill, it is difficult to stop it. Now here we go again. The trolls and haters are throwing out boxoffice figures and we are once again jumping into the fray. The projects were between 4-6 mill. I even read somewhere were the projection was 3 mil. Either way the movie either beat 3 mil or made it 4-6 mill. This is a good start. I betcha Brad and Angie are happy. Don’t worry be happy. And please stop letting the haters and trolls manipulate us. We are better than that. I still don’t know how to make those faces. Just this one. Peace.
Angelina Jolie’s ‘A Mighty Heart’ chronicles tragedy of slain newsman Pearl
Sat Jun 23, 2:13 PM
By David Germain
ADVERTISEMENT
LOS ANGELES (AP) - The filmmakers behind the Daniel Pearl drama “A Mighty Heart” wanted to honour the slain journalist by doing what he did best - tell the straight story, unadorned by opinion, ideology or bias.
Starring Angelina Jolie as Pearl’s widow, “A Mighty Heart” unfolds in docudrama style, its just-the-facts approach putting viewers in the midst of the anguish, hope and heartache that family, friends, and colleagues underwent in the weeks after his kidnapping in Pakistan in January 2002.
Sympathies clearly are with Pearl and his loved ones as victims but “A Mighty Heart” does not preach or condemn, does not take sides or point fingers. Like last year’s Sept. 11 saga “United 93,” the film simply tells what happened, chronicling the horror and humanity experienced by one family in our new world of terrorism.
“We were making a film about a journalist and felt we should try to reflect that,” said “A Mighty Heart” director Michael Winterbottom, who often applies documentary style and improvisation to heighten the sense of authenticity in his films, which include “Welcome to Sarajevo,” “In This World” and last year’s “The Road to Guantanamo.”
“Mariane and Daniel are both journalists. Obviously, they were trying to report on events and make sure they give as fair a view as they could. We didn’t want to build any opinions into the film; to try to tell it as accurately as possible. Why change it? Why try to dramatize it? Tell it as truthfully as you can.”
Though “A Mighty Heart,” which opens Friday, features one of the biggest stars on the planet and was produced by Jolie’s romantic partner Brad Pitt, the film is notably free of Hollywood trappings.
Jolie buries herself in the role of Mariane Pearl, a French radio journalist who was six months pregnant with Daniel’s son at the time her husband was kidnapped.
What follows is a harrowing four weeks in which Jolie’s Pearl copes with false hopes and false alarms, frustrations with the multinational collection of investigators and bureaucrats on the case, and packs of reporters covering her husband’s abduction.
“This story and this time is something that everybody remembered,” Jolie said at May’s Cannes Film Festival,” where “A Mighty Heart” premiered. “Even studio heads actually care about this, they care about Danny Pearl and they care about Mariane. Even when we came to the publicity, they didn’t ask for things that were silly. All anybody had to say was that didn’t feel right, and nobody pushed.”
Based on Mariane Pearl’s memoir “A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband, Danny Pearl,” the film begins on the day of the Wall Street Journal reporter’s disappearance.
Daniel Pearl - played by Dan Futterman, the screenwriter of 2005’s “Capote” - told Mariane he might be late for dinner, as he had a meeting with a sheik for a story on Islamic militancy. He never came home, and authorities later determined the meeting was a ruse by Islamic militants to kidnap Pearl, who later was beheaded by his captors.
Almost overnight, Mariane Pearl’s circle of friends and associates widens to include U.S. diplomats, Pakistani authorities and dozens of others who take a deep interest in bringing her husband home alive.
Winterbottom had his actors spend time with their real-life counterparts, allowing the performers to get a better handle on their characters and also giving them insight into how many lives the Pearl story touched.
“When you hear them speak about that event, personally it’s changed their lives forever,” said actress Archie Punjabi, who plays Daniel Pearl’s Wall Street Journal colleague Asra Nomani. “Each one of those people is somebody’s son or daughter or husband or wife. Each one of them stopped their entire life to focus on Danny, and when you meet them, you can see how the events affected their lives.”
One of those affected was the Pearls’ son, Adam, born in France months after his father died. Futterman said he felt great responsibility playing Pearl, knowing the film could one day convey a sense of the man to his son.
“He never got to meet his father. He may see this at some point, and hopefully it will expose him to certain things about his dad and the kind of man he was,” Futterman said.
The fact that “A Mighty Heart” comes from British filmmaker Winterbottom brings the story to a wider audience than if a Pakistani director had shot the film, said Irrfan Khan, an Indian actor playing a Pakistani counterterrorism official who becomes a key ally to Mariane Pearl.
“It’s a great thing that somebody from the Western world has taken an interest in this region,” Khan said. “Our world is becoming so much smaller and smaller and you cannot remain unaffected by other parts of the world.”
As critical to the story itself is its message of standing fast against terrorism, the filmmakers say.
“The kidnappers, their whole point is to terrorize people,” Jolie’s Mariane tells friends after they learn of Danny’s death. “I am not terrorized, and you should not be terrorized.”
Mariane Pearl felt it was critical to refuse to give in to the fear and hate that terrorism can elicit, Jolie said.
“I think she is a great example of that, because under the most extraordinary circumstances, she remained very focused on . . . having sympathy for the other side, even after they did that to her husband,” Jolie said. “And having the openness to learn about them. And I’m sure she feels all that we expect her to feel, but somehow on top of that, she managed to rise above it.”
The filmmakers stuck to that notion, showing a wildly disparate group of people - Americans, Europeans, Pakistanis, Indians and others - coming together with a common goal to bring Daniel Pearl home safely.
“When I met the people involved, it struck me a lot of them had felt defeated, ashamed in a way that they hadn’t brought Danny back. Mariane manages to make them not feel like that. She made them understand a lot of positive things came from that experience,” Winterbottom said. “That must have made a huge difference for them.”
THE MORE I LOVE THEM, I HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE AND I LOVE IT!
the universe is starting to make things right again.
I’m all for the angelina and brad bashing but that phrase made me angry. You need to have more respect for the actual things going on in the world, this week amost 20 american soldiers die in iraq.
Bringing the troops back home will be starting to make things right in the world.
I’m beginning to think that if Angie and Brad haven’t broken up by next weekend, poor Sam is going to be on suicide watch.
Box office guru:
Opening in tenth place was Angelina Jolie’s A Mighty Heart with an estimated $4M from 1,355 theaters for a mild $2,956 average. The Paramount Vantage release earned strong reviews and has sparked Oscar buzz for Jolie’s performance as Mariane Pearl, widow of the slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. The R-rated film skewed to an audience of mature women with studio research showing that over 60% of the crowd was female and more than 60% was over 30.
Angie looks very disappointed here :
I think he is over he constant need to invite the world into their home or she cant get over that the sexiest man alive (twice) is hung like a nat.
What this means is that the WOM on this film will be strong. It’s Babel all over again
I came to NY last Friday and tried to find theaters showing AMH, but could not. The 1300 something opening sites means that you have to really search for the theaters.
I have not seen the movie so far (as I mentioned I contacted several theaters nearby but they did not carry AMH - too bad). I do not know where to go to see it. I am now in Flushing, NY. If anybody knows how to search for the theater, help me please.
…….we should all just be happy for everyone, particularly for women of success.
I agree, Kate (#123) It’s how I feel too! I don’t understand women who bash women they don’t even know and who have done nothing to them.
I don’t thik angelina care for her career. She said Brad and I will work so much in years.Over 40 yrs actress are not in demand in HW.She knows it very well. Brad said in an inteview that the job of actor is for younger ones. All A-list movie stars always didn’t hit on boxoffice.
That’s a good one, isn’t it!!! :lol:
Great to see Brad and Angie out together with out the kiddies. Date Days every couple needs them.Bet they miss their kids and the little ones miss them alot also.I have not seen an Almighty Heart yet’ but if I don’t see it at the theater I am going to buy the DVD.
LOL to all the people saying “oh, thier movies are bombing, all is becoming right with the world, etc., etc….”.I’m not a crazed fan of any of the three, but I do like all three….but I just have to point out, Jen’s films have all pretty much bombed. Is that “karma” too? I read these posts to just crack the eff up when I’m bored. I can’t believe how heated this stuff gets and how passionate and judgemental some of you are about people you don’t even know, all just waiting for karma to bite whoever you are for/against in the ass…I don’t know. I think some of really need to find more important things to focus your energy on.
Just my two cents….peace out!
She said she has a fun career but she doesn’t want to be remembered solely for having been an actress, when her other roles in life (mother, humanitarian) are so much more important to her. She’s at a point in her career where she can pretty much pick and choose her roles and she’s not relegated to action/adventure movies.
MY OPINION, SINCE PEOPLE ARE KEEP ON YUCKING ABOUT BOX OFFICE HIT, THIS MOVIE OR THIS KIND OF MOVIE IN ENTERTAINMENT WORLD WOULD NOT REALLY BE IN THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE HOW MUCH MORE ALL OVER THE WORLD. IT WILL GO UNNOTICED AND JUST BE A PASSING THROUGH MOVIE. BUT SINCE ANGELINA JOLIE IS IN IT, A MEGA STAR, AND ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS FACES IN THE WORLD, TO ME IT’S A HIT.
THIS MOVIE GOT RECOGNIZED AND BECOME KNOWN, BECAUSE OF ANGELINA AND BRAD. IT WILL GARNER MORE IN THE COMING WEEKS OR MONTHS. PLUS THIS IS SHOWING WITH OTHER MORE EXPECTED BLOCKBUSTER MOVIES. IT IS AMAZING THAT IT GATHER MORE THAN 4M IN THREE DAYS ALONE AND THE DAY IS NOT EVEN OVER YET.
All Nana has to do is pick up any NYC newspaper, open it to the movie section, look under the ad for AMH and pick the most convenient time/location.
#285 KK1–Everyone in our theater, too, sat while the credits rolled–no one moved until they were over.
There is more to this woman and her life then acting. She’s been talking about this for years. Ramping down her movie career and now she can do it. She can work when something speaks to her and/or she feels like it. Both Brad and Angelina have discussed how they are going to only be in the business of acting for a few more years if that.
Nice of you tabitha! Thank you for helping NaNa!
‘Night all…
Thanks for the hours of great, intelligent posts. And most definitely, the laughs.
jeniston… don’t know who you are, if you’re newbie or a regular incognito, but your post was golden.
I don’t understand why some media attack Angelina cause of not inportant problem and some American hate her in no sense, cause she’s thin ? she is with Brad? her attitude?
It’s not bashing but bullying.
Thanks tabitha and Jill!
