For all we know, Angie could have an upset stomach or be hungry…I wouldn’t immediately jump to the pregnancy conclusion…I thought she said just recently that they weren’t planning on adding a new member to the family for awhile until the other 4 kids adjusted. Thanks JJ for these new pictures of the golden family, I was just wondering this morning why you did not post any new pictures Yesterday & here you are posting the latest ones. I think Angelina ate a lot that’s why she was rubbing her belly. I don’t think she will get pregnant this early, Shiloh just turned 1 so maybe they will wait till 2009, besides she has so many movie offer but who knows, maybe when she take a year off she will get pregnant, if she does, that will be a blessing to the Brangelina fans. How do you solve a problem like Angelina? Ms. Jolie is now more of a brand than a person, and she comes in six flavors:

1. The celebrity. Angelina Jolie is so famous that when she looks in the mirror her reflection asks for an autograph. The only publication in this country yet to feature her on its cover is The American Numismatic Magazine, and even that will change the moment she bends down to pick up a nickel.

2. The sexpot. In this she is unchallenged, and yet her timing is off by fifty years. When it comes to channelling her carnal appeal, no current film director has a clue; the guy she needs is Frank Tashlin, who guided Jayne Mansfield through “The Girl Can’t Help It” (1956) and “Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?” (1957), and whose eyeballs, if confronted with Jolie in the flesh, would pop out on cartoon springs and bob around.

3. The Brad handler. She took one look at the world’s most widely desired man and scooped him up with no more ado than a Parisian grande dame tucking a Chihuahua into her clutch bag.

4. The mother. Official estimates as to how many children Jolie now possesses, and from how many continents, change on a weekly basis. When not giving birth herself, she likes to order in. How this has affected Mr. Pitt is unclear, but his expression is sometimes that of a man who stepped out to hail a cab and got run over by a fleet of trucks.

5. The world saver. Jolie is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Her father, Jon Voight, told the Biography Channel that “she’s developed into one of our great humanitarians.” This was clearly on the minds of political leaders when they met Jolie at a summit of the World Economic Forum in Davos two years ago. Half of them offered their entire foreign-aid budget for a chance to fetch her a mai tai.

6. Oh yes, the actress. This last talent, so often neglected, is displayed in her new film, “A Mighty Heart,” and without it the legend of Angelina Jolie would be little more than a vaporous joke.

The movie, directed by Michael Winterbottom, lies about as far from the trials of Lara Croft as is cinematically possible. Jolie plays Mariane Pearl, the wife of Daniel Pearl (Dan Futterman), a correspondent for the Wall Street Journal who in 2002 was kidnapped and beheaded in Karachi, Pakistan. The story begins on the day of his disappearance; as the horrors unfurl, we see Mariane replaying in her mind the moment when she bade her husband farewell—a wave and a smile, as he climbed into a cab. He was due to interview a Muslim cleric named Sheikh Gilani, but the arrangement was a trap.

Once Pearl has vanished, we follow the threads of rumor and report from the viewpoint of his wife, a cluster of friends, and the local police. The result, like many of Winterbottom’s films, lies an inch short of disarray; we can keep pace with the investigation, but only just, and that sense of splintering honors the unpredictability of the setting. We hurtle from the tracking down of taxi-drivers to the tracing of cell-phone calls and nocturnal raids on the homes of suspects; such momentum is undeniably but unpleasantly exciting, because we already know the outcome. However diligent the authorities’ chase against the clock, the clock will win. Promising leads hit a wall; when Mariane gets to see Pakistan’s Interior Minister, he blames the Indian intelligence services for having set up the abduction. Add the aggressive questioning of Daniel’s female colleague, Asra (Archie Panjabi), who happens to be Indian, and you get an itchy demonstration of regional mistrust.

Stronger still than the encroaching panic, however, is Mariane’s determination not to cave in to it. Those who saw her being interviewed at the time were struck by her preternatural serenity; her book, also called “A Mighty Heart” (2003), is Winterbottom’s principal source, although her title may be too noble for his manner—the dressed-down, on-the-fly approach that lends even his more formal endeavors, like “Jude” (1996) and “Code 46” (2003), an air of documentary. He is the very model of a modern moral filmmaker: not unromantic, exactly, and too impassioned for the scowls of cynicism, but baffled and perhaps a little bored by the traditional forms of romance. When his loving couples cling together—as they did, stickily, for “9 Songs” (2004)—Winterbottom loses interest. When they are yanked apart, as in “A Mighty Heart,” his own heart quickens its beat.

Mariane is French-speaking, with a Cuban mother, and Jolie is equipped with corkscrewed hair, tinted skin, and murmuring accent. We brace ourselves for a star turn, a hundred minutes of vanity project, but here’s the thing: it never happens. Jolie slips into the part, ducks in and out of the action, and generally plays second string to the onrush of events. Blessed with the world’s most recognizable mouth, she confines herself to a single, skeptical pout, as Mariane is reassured that “no one would ever want to hurt Danny.” Not so: he is an American Jew investigating Muslim extremists, and, as his wife knows, that makes him a marked man.

Only once does Mariane crack. Informed of her husband’s death and of its savage circumstances, she goes to her room, crouches over, and keens. It could be the howl from a Greek tragedy, except that our heroine is not disporting herself on a stage, majestic in her grief, but filmed from so close that you can count the ***** of vertebrae at the top of her spine. By this time she is heavily pregnant, and her screams are a terrible parody of birth pangs—an echo that Winterbottom makes explicit, without needing to, in the closing scenes. This hasty, high-intensity, barely consolable film is just the kind of tale on which he thrives—and, more surprisingly, on which Jolie will come to depend if she wants to keep her head above the tides of madness in which, partly on her own initiative, she has chosen to float. Will success spoil Angelina Jolie? Not yet. Can she help it? Yes, she can.

*On Wednesday, January 23, 2002, Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl (Dan Futterman) vanished soon after bidding farewell to his pregnant wife, Mariane (Angelina Jolie), and entering a taxi waiting outside the home of his colleague, Asra Nomani (Archie Panjabi).

At the time, he was on assignment in Pakistan, following a promising tip which he expected to lead to a face-to-face interview with Sheik Mubarak Ali Gilani (Ikram Bhatti), a religious figure rumored to be behind assorted al-Qaeda operations, including shoe bomber Richard Reid’s aborted plot to bring down an airliner over the Atlantic.

But Pearl, a Jewish-American born in Princeton, New Jersey, had apparently been betrayed by his source, or by the cabbie, or both. And instead of breaking an exclusive story, he ended up in the hands of a mysterious man named Bashir (Aly Khan) a member of a secret cell of radical Muslims cell taking orders from 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed.

When the intrepid investigative journalist failed to return that evening, his understandably anguished spouse alerted the authorities. A massive manhunt ensued, a cooperative effort launched by the Pakistani police, the FBI, and agents of the U.S. State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service. This international team, armed only with a handful of often misleading clues, embarked on a futile attempt to crack the case.

Meanwhile, for the next nine days, Danny was held incommunicado by kidnappers who issued a set of non-negotiable demands, including one for the release of all suspected Pakistani terrorists taken to the detainment camp at Guantanamo Bay. The rescue mission was called off when a videotape of Pearl’s beheading was leaked over the Internet.

This whole horrifying ordeal was recounted by Mariane in a best-selling memoir entitled “A Mighty Heart,” and that heartbreaking account served as the source of this surprisingly-riveting docudrama directed by Michael Winterbottom. Thus, the movie is presented primarily from Pearl’s widow’s point-of-view, which means the picture’s fortunes rise or fall with the performance of Angelina Jolie.

Jolie, dominating nearly every scene, is rather remarkable in this star vehicle, effectively conveying a convincing combination of unwavering dedication and the dire desperation of a woman who insists on remaining at the center of the search for the love of her life.

As a consequence, those complaining about Angelina, who is French, Czech, German and Native-American, playing a woman of Dutch, Jewish, African, Cuban and Chinese extraction are unlikely to find much in the way of support for their call for an organized boycott. Maybe there wasn’t a Dutch/Jewish/African/Cuban/Chinese actress available.

Regardless, for some reason, a bittersweet female empowerment flick as moving as this, with a message as ultimately optimistic as this, generally tends to trump its detractors, and I suspect A Mighty Heart will be no exception to the rule.

Just got back from watching A MIGHTY HEART.
I brought my daughter with me and both of us were crying and sniffing throughout the movie.
My daughter is an Angelina fan ever since she watched Gia and Girl Interrupted. She told me that no other actress can act and carry herself like Angelina.
Anyway I will continue to support the movie and watch it again next week with my mom.

I don’t think he was being rude, he was just saying that he has been faithful to his wife all these years and that even if Angelina Jolie herself was interested in him he would not go there. At least that is the way I took it.

OT: was just watching Extra. They showed Paris on Larry King and they showed her with brown eyes. They said something about her not wearing her contact lenses for the interview. I thought her eyes were her best feature and it turns out to be fake. Oh, the agony!

Well, that interview was a great big dud. On the Daily News the columnist said she was like the Mannequin 2007. There was a reporter on NBC (can’t remember accurately) who refused to read the report and then got up to shred the paper that they gave her to read.

How do you solve a problem like Angelina? Ms. Jolie is now more of a brand than a person, and she comes in six flavors:

1. The celebrity. Angelina Jolie is so famous that when she looks in the mirror her reflection asks for an autograph. The only publication in this country yet to feature her on its cover is The American Numismatic Magazine, and even that will change the moment she bends down to pick up a nickel.

2. The sexpot. In this she is unchallenged, and yet her timing is off by fifty years. When it comes to channelling her carnal appeal, no current film director has a clue; the guy she needs is Frank Tashlin, who guided Jayne Mansfield through “The Girl Can’t Help It” (1956) and “Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?” (1957), and whose eyeballs, if confronted with Jolie in the flesh, would pop out on cartoon springs and bob around.

3. The Brad handler. She took one look at the world’s most widely desired man and scooped him up with no more ado than a Parisian grande dame tucking a Chihuahua into her clutch bag.

4. The mother. Official estimates as to how many children Jolie now possesses, and from how many continents, change on a weekly basis. When not giving birth herself, she likes to order in. How this has affected Mr. Pitt is unclear, but his expression is sometimes that of a man who stepped out to hail a cab and got run over by a fleet of trucks.

5. The world saver. Jolie is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Her father, Jon Voight, told the Biography Channel that “she’s developed into one of our great humanitarians.” This was clearly on the minds of political leaders when they met Jolie at a summit of the World Economic Forum in Davos two years ago. Half of them offered their entire foreign-aid budget for a chance to fetch her a mai tai.

6. Oh yes, the actress. This last talent, so often neglected, is displayed in her new film, “A Mighty Heart,” and without it the legend of Angelina Jolie would be little more than a vaporous joke.

The movie, directed by Michael Winterbottom, lies about as far from the trials of Lara Croft as is cinematically possible. Jolie plays Mariane Pearl, the wife of Daniel Pearl (Dan Futterman), a correspondent for the Wall Street Journal who in 2002 was kidnapped and beheaded in Karachi, Pakistan. The story begins on the day of his disappearance; as the horrors unfurl, we see Mariane replaying in her mind the moment when she bade her husband farewell—a wave and a smile, as he climbed into a cab. He was due to interview a Muslim cleric named Sheikh Gilani, but the arrangement was a trap.

Once Pearl has vanished, we follow the threads of rumor and report from the viewpoint of his wife, a cluster of friends, and the local police. The result, like many of Winterbottom’s films, lies an inch short of disarray; we can keep pace with the investigation, but only just, and that sense of splintering honors the unpredictability of the setting. We hurtle from the tracking down of taxi-drivers to the tracing of cell-phone calls and nocturnal raids on the homes of suspects; such momentum is undeniably but unpleasantly exciting, because we already know the outcome. However diligent the authorities’ chase against the clock, the clock will win. Promising leads hit a wall; when Mariane gets to see Pakistan’s Interior Minister, he blames the Indian intelligence services for having set up the abduction. Add the aggressive questioning of Daniel’s female colleague, Asra (Archie Panjabi), who happens to be Indian, and you get an itchy demonstration of regional mistrust.

Stronger still than the encroaching panic, however, is Mariane’s determination not to cave in to it. Those who saw her being interviewed at the time were struck by her preternatural serenity; her book, also called “A Mighty Heart” (2003), is Winterbottom’s principal source, although her title may be too noble for his manner—the dressed-down, on-the-fly approach that lends even his more formal endeavors, like “Jude” (1996) and “Code 46” (2003), an air of documentary. He is the very model of a modern moral filmmaker: not unromantic, exactly, and too impassioned for the scowls of cynicism, but baffled and perhaps a little bored by the traditional forms of romance. When his loving couples cling together—as they did, stickily, for “9 Songs” (2004)—Winterbottom loses interest. When they are yanked apart, as in “A Mighty Heart,” his own heart quickens its beat.

Mariane is French-speaking, with a Cuban mother, and Jolie is equipped with corkscrewed hair, tinted skin, and murmuring accent. We brace ourselves for a star turn, a hundred minutes of vanity project, but here’s the thing: it never happens. Jolie slips into the part, ducks in and out of the action, and generally plays second string to the onrush of events. Blessed with the world’s most recognizable mouth, she confines herself to a single, skeptical pout, as Mariane is reassured that “no one would ever want to hurt Danny.” Not so: he is an American Jew investigating Muslim extremists, and, as his wife knows, that makes him a marked man.

Only once does Mariane crack. Informed of her husband’s death and of its savage circumstances, she goes to her room, crouches over, and keens. It could be the howl from a Greek tragedy, except that our heroine is not disporting herself on a stage, majestic in her grief, but filmed from so close that you can count the ***** of vertebrae at the top of her spine. By this time she is heavily pregnant, and her screams are a terrible parody of birth pangs—an echo that Winterbottom makes explicit, without needing to, in the closing scenes. This hasty, high-intensity, barely consolable film is just the kind of tale on which he thrives—and, more surprisingly, on which Jolie will come to depend if she wants to keep her head above the tides of madness in which, partly on her own initiative, she has chosen to float. Will success spoil Angelina Jolie? Not yet. Can she help it? Yes, she can.

CHQT, I found a few organizations through my friends, but I won’t go until next year, around June. I wish I could join Doctors Without Borders, but because they require 6 months commitment at a time, I can’t do it. I am donating money to their organization though.

Two of my nieces bought units there (they work here though) and when we were there, we went through the whole complex and loved how there’s no need to drive anywhere if you live there. It’s a complete community.

The year is half over — so, in theory, the annual kudos season has seen 50% of its entrants. Of course, this is never the case, but if the first six months are any indication, the actress race is going to be the one to watch this year.

So far, Julie Christie in Lionsgate’s “Away From Her,” Marion Cotillard of Picturehouse’s “La Vie en rose” and Angelina Jolie in Paramount Vantage’s “A Mighty Heart” have earned awards buzz. Three serious contenders for five slots make for a lively start.

And while there are isolated possibilities in other categories, the only other race that’s crowded is visual effects, thanks to pics such as Warner Bros.’ “300,” Sony’s “Spider-Man 3,” Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” and Fox’s “Fantastic Four,” with July bringing DreamWorks-Par’s “Transformers” and WB’s latest “Harry Potter.”

The first six months of 2007 also offer clues from two festivals that are increasingly key to the awards season: Sundance and Cannes.

Last year, Fox Searchlight acquired “Little Miss Sunshine” at Sundance and turned it into a B.O. and kudos winner. Will lightning strike twice? Searchlight came away from this year’s Sundance with “Waitress” and “Under the Same Moon” (formerly “La Misma Luna”). Also at Sundance, the Weinstein Co. acquired the well-received “Grace Is Gone,” starring John Cusack, and is sharing “Moon” with Searchlight.

The 2006 Cannes bowed several pics that went on to kudos attention, including Oscar best film contender “Babel.” This year, there was a lot of buzz on the Croisette for two films that Miramax will release at the end of the year: the Coen brothers’ “No Country for Old Men” and Julian Schnabel’s “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.” Also a hit there: Picturehouse’s “The Orphanage,” produced by Guillermo del Toro, who struck gold last year with “Pan’s Labyrinth” at Cannes.

There are awards possibilities in other films from the first half of 2007, including Paramount’s impeccable David Fincher drama “Zodiac,” which may find a wider audience via DVD and screenings.

And while kudos buzz for “Away From Her” and “Mighty Heart” centers on the actresses, those films boast possible contenders in other categories, such as thesp Gordon Pinsent and writer-director Sarah Polley for “Away,” and Michael Winterbottom’s direction and John Orloff’s script for “Heart.”

Also worth remembering are Fox Searchlight’s “Once” (particularly in the music races), Focus Features’ “Evening” and Miramax’s “The Hoax.”

The first six months have also offered plenty of possibilities in the feature animation, docu and foreign-language races, but more on those at a future date.

Many of the above films may seem like awards darkhorses, but it all depends on what opens later this year. When “Gladiator” and “Crash” bowed, few declared them Oscar front-runners, but as the awards season progressed, their stock rose.

Below are films, month by month, that have kudos potential. Most of them sound intriguing on paper — which sometimes pays off bigtime, but not always.

July: Focus’ Don Cheadle vehicle “Talk to Me”; MGM’s “Rescue Dawn,” directed by Werner Herzog and starring Christian Bale and Steve Zahn; New Line’s “Hairspray”; and Sony Classics’ “Moliere.”

August: Picturehouse’s “El Cantante” and “Rocket Science”; and Yari Film Group’s “Resurrecting the Champ,” starring Samuel L. Jackson.

September: Focus’ duo of David Cronenberg’s “Eastern Promises” and Ang Lee’s “Lust, Caution”; Searchlight’s Wes Anderson-helmed “The Darjeeling Limited”; MGM’s Robert Benton movie “Feast of Love”; Paramount Vantage’s “Into the Wild,” directed by Sean Penn and starring Emile Hirsch; Sony Classics’ “The Jane Austen Book Club”; Universal’s Middle East drama “The Kingdom”; Warner’s Jodie Foster starrer “The Brave One,” from Neil Jordan, plus “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” starring Brad Pitt; and Warner Independent’s Iraq-themed “In the Valley of Elah,” directed by Paul Haggis.

October: DreamWorks’ “Things We Lost in the Fire,” with Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro; Focus’ Terry George-helmed “Reservation Road”; Lionsgate’s “3:10 to Yuma,” directed by James Mangold and starring Bale and Russell Crowe; New Line’s “Rendition,” starring Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal and Meryl Streep; Par Vantage’s “Margot at the Wedding,” a Nicole Kidman starrer from Noah Baumbach (”The Squid and the Whale”); Sony Classics’ “Sleuth,” with Michael Caine and Jude Law; Universal’s Cate Blanchett sequel “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” (who would have guessed Elizabeth I would become a franchise?); and, from WB, Tony Gilroy’s directing debut, the George Clooney vehicle “Michael Clayton.”

November: New Line’s Mike Newell-directed “Love in the Time of Cholera”; Par Vantage’s “The Kite Runner,” from the bestseller and helmed by Marc Forster; Universal’s “American Gangster,” directed by Ridley Scott and starring Denzel Washington and Crowe; United Artists’ debut feature under the new regime, “Lions for Lambs,” directed by Robert Redford and starring Redford, Tom Cruise and Streep; Disney’s “Enchanted” (Amy Adams, Susan Sarandon); and Weinstein Co.’s Woody Allen opus “Cassandra’s Dream” with Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor.

I saw La Vie en Rose and the actress in it was superb. I’ve also seen A Mighty Heart and Angelina gave an excellent performance. As much as I’m a fan of Angelina, I should tell you, come Oscar time, Angie is going to face some tough competiton by Marion Cotillard. So please remain neutral when you talk about the Oscars and do check out La Vie. It’s a great movie. I’m just happy to have seen both of these movies made. That’s an accomplishment all on its own. Both wonderful stories about two very stong women.

The evening of March 13 was just another Tuesday night for Lindsay Lohan. She spent a few hours at Butter in Manhattan—where the line for nobodies stretches around the block and blood orange Bellinis go for $14—sporting a brave face on the eve of her ne’er-do-well father’s release from prison. Around 3 a.m., she and some friends hopped in her mother’s white 2004 BMW as the paparazzi gave chase. Pursued by at least two cars, she careened through lower Manhattan, putting the Beemer’s famed facility for cornering to the test. Pulling into the valet lane in front of Hotel Gansevoort in the West Village, she found herself blocked in and surrounded by photographers.

To judge by video aired by Access Hollywood , the scene rapidly devolved into mayhem, with gawkers and paparazzi shouting Lohan’s name as she sat trapped in the driver’s seat. Then, depending on whom you ask, one of two things happened: Either Lohan decided to run over a paparazzo named Giovanni Arnold, or Arnold, who was perched on the hood of Lohan’s car snapping pics, smelled a lawsuit and took a dive in front of her BMW as she edged forward. “Oh my God! Lindsay, you hit somebody,” the photographers shouted, addressing the starlet like concerned friends.
Arnold wound up at St. Vincent’s Hospital, where he was treated for a bruised knee, and clips of the incident were on the Internet within hours. Days later, Lohan’s mother, Dina, told Harper’s Bazaar that “Diana will happen again” (referring to the Princess of Wales’ death during a paparazzi car chase), and hinted darkly that her daughter might be next.

The Hotel Gansevoort incident was just one in a seemingly endless series of confrontations in recent months between the paparazzi and the celebrities whose every move they chronicle.

Just this past November, Lohan suffered cuts and bruises after being rear-ended by a paparazzo in Los Angeles at 2 a.m. on her way home from a night of clubbing. In February, Britney Spears had a well-documented breakdown, the highlight of which was her umbrella-swinging rampage against photographers from the X17 photo agency. According to X17, Spears had just been prevented by Kevin Federline from seeing her children when she went after a photographer’s car, spitting and screaming, “Go **** yourself!”

Just hours before, while stopped at a gas station, an obviously distressed Spears had sat passively in the passenger seat of a Mercedes as a photographer snapped half a dozen shots through the windshield while attempting to console her: “How you doing?” Click. “You doing okay?” Click. Click. “I’m concerned about you though, okay?” Click. And in March, in a Los Angeles church parking lot of all places, a security guard leveled a pistol at another X17 photographer on Britney detail after the cameraman ignored a traffic cop’s instruction to stop and wait for Spears’s vehicle to leave before exiting the lot. That same week, Princess Di’s son Harry allegedly lunged at a photographer while leaving a London nightclub and wound up sprawled on the pavement. Lohan’s mother is right: Someone will likely be killed again. And when they are, the shot will be priceless.

As recently as 15 years ago, there were just 25 or so “paps,” as they’re known in the business, plying their trade in Los Angeles. But the dramatic success of Us Weekly and its imitators— Star, Life & Style, In Touch Weekly —not to mention ever-metastasizing tabloid TV shows like Access Hollywood , has injected tens of millions of dollars into the sector and, in the process, fundamentally reshaped the contours of fame. Now, on any given day, 300 to 400 paps (the term is also a verb, as in, “Jessica is in Hawaii this week, let’s pap her”) roam the streets of L.A. on behalf of 20 or so agencies. Together they generate more than 120,000 images per week, which are pumped directly to the computer screens of tabloid photo editors via password-protected websites. (Even Radar has been known to indulge from time to time.)

Actual figures are hard to come by, but according to one source, AMI’s struggling Star magazine brings up the rear, spending $60,000 per week on pap shots; the flashier People and Us Weekly spend much more. A good image, purchased non-exclusively, runs from $1,500 to $2,000 for print publication. For exclusive rights, a shot of middling interest—like Hayden Christensen and new girlfriend Rachel Bilson together—might garner $15,000. For particularly explosive photos, frantic auctions can drive the price 20 times higher.

Two years ago, Us Weekly paid $500,000 for a set of photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie strolling along the beach in Africa. Shots of Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake together, on a surfing jaunt to Hawaii, earned $300,000 for Flynet Pictures, an agency run by paparazzo Scott Cosman, who happens to be married to an Us Weekly reporter. And those are just U.S. rights; by reselling the rights in other markets, agencies can double or even triple their take. The chance for a big score has attracted a new generation of paps armed with point-and-shoot digital cameras and a desperate desire to get rich quick, and their aggressive tactics are shaking up the field.

Celebrity has always been a Faustian bargain: The star gets wealth and recognition; in exchange, the world gets to eavesdrop on his or her life. La Liz had to deal with it in her heyday as surely as La Lohan does today. But in her prime, Elizabeth Taylor faced a relatively small rogue’s gallery of hard-drinking Hollywood bottom-feeders who prided themselves on cat-and-mouse tactics. When Lindsay Lohan walks out of her front door in the morning, she can expect to find a veritable pack of former gang members, illegal immigrants fresh from the slums of São Paulo, and ex-cons staring her in the face. In 2005, after Todd Wallace, a pap following Reese Witherspoon and her children during a visit to Disney’s California Adventure theme park, was arrested for allegedly assaulting two park employees, he was found to have a rap sheet longer than his list of photo credits: battery, burglary, grand theft, and a total of four years in a California prison.

In response, targets like Pitt and Jolie have beefed up security, hiring firms full of retired LAPD to turn the tables by harassing, trailing, and investigating the paps themselves. The result is a bizarre continuation of the long-running street battles between cops and criminals in Los Angeles—only instead of Compton and East L.A., the theaters of war are the seaside cliffs of Malibu and high-end boutiques along Robertson Boulevard. The police cruisers and low-riders have been replaced by imposing black SUVs, and the guns have morphed into cameras. But the point of it all remains the same: money.

I’ve been following Angelina for over two years now, and she’s become more and more famous through the years. She has maintained her feet on the ground, ever so humble and continued to be a great humanitarian who gives 1/3 of her income to her charity. I am just disappointed when I read negative blogs or news about her. There’s this one online website that I particularly dislike because they always have negative things to say about Angelina.
