topless around kids. well……….children are breastfed and learn very early on that way that breasts are not SEX objects they are just a functional body part. People who sexualize breasts need to get over it.

But women going topless should be as natural as it is for men. I don’t think we’ll get there in our lifetime, but it’s one of the last areas where men and women are not equal.

Frances- I agree with you. She looks kind of drapey and he’s not even touching her or smiling at her. So unless he’s just really annoyed at the photographers being around, I think she needs to read “He’s Just Not That Into You”.
Seems like there is a lot of stereotyping going on…so, if someone disagrees with this, then we’re just a bunch of prudish Americans? And if you agree with it, then you’re a uninhibited European? I think it has to do with how you are raised. If you’re parents run around naked in front of you, then you would be used to it and it wouldn’t bother you…if they don’t, it would make you uncomfortable…doesn’t make either person right or wrong…I was raised not to do that in front of children or other adults, but I respect anyone else’s right to sunbath topless in front of their kids…why should it bother me…it’s a personal choice…but to start name calling because someone sees it a different way then you…immature and rude…
Americans are light years behind the rest of the world where being comfortable with naked human form is concerned. I think it’s because many Americans are sexually repressed and conflicted about what their bodies and their “morals” say about the subject.
That being said, I hope that no one here is insinuating in malice that Gayheart is doing something wrong and potentially damaging to her children by walking around topless. With children that young, if you make a big, negative deal about being naked, you’ll start them on a path of shame, which is far more damaging than seeing their own mother’s breasts.
Would I do it? Nope. And why? Because there isn’t enough sunscreen in the world…LMAO!
Sexually repressed? I am American and just because I don’t condone public nudity, it doesn’t automatically mean that I need to start therapy or have some deep ridden guilt…it’s just not how I was raised…I could care less what anyone else does, but I wasn’t raised to believe walking around nude in front of your children was appropriate…that’s me…I don’t say anything negative about anyone who does do it…so why should I be labeled as sexually repressed and shameful of sex? I have a healthy view about sex, thank you…people are over-analyzing this…either you do it or you don’t…case closed…it’s not that complicated…
I am American and think it is fine that she is topless…who cares, certainly not the kids. Her grabbing his crotch is a little weird, but their backs were probably to everyone else so that no one could see. Too bad cameras are everywhere!

Mo, Gayheart was on a boat in the middle of the ocean…not walking down Rodeo Drive topless and carrying an “I’m not a plastic bag” tote. It was the paps that brought these images to the public arena so that people who don’t know her or her family can scrutinize and criticize. I’m an American too - and a well-traveled one at that - which is why I can say what I said in #67. The fact that this country still rages condemnation on mothers who public breastfeed is the epitome of this proof.
But I’m glad your sexuality is healthy…maybe you’re the beginning of a new era. Here’s to hoping anyway!
thats how its is in europe…if its too revolting for some to see, oh well, a culture shock for you then. get used to it. i dont think europeans would change ways just to appease people who has clearly not been exposed to things like this.

I am a world traveler too and I don’t see anything wrong with her topless on a boat…I just didn’t like the label of sexually repressed…but I understand what you mean…people get so touchy about nudity and sex for no reason…I said I probably wouldn’t walk around topless in front of my kids, but that’s my preference…I don’t care if someone else does it…like you said, here’s to hoping

Oh my lord, you have to be kidding me? Most kids have seen or should have seen a pair of tatas on numerous occasions by the age of 3. There’s nothing sexual about the pictures but unfortunately, there are probably those who will find offense. We as Americans are more comfortable with gratuitous violence than we are with the naked human form. I just saw a repeat of CSI where a car crash victim was disemboweled. That episode ran on Spike TV @ about 6:00 p.m Central time. I wonder if there was any uproar. Highly doubt it.

I myself am a muslim, who covers her head and applaud any women to practice as she sees fits, from whatever faith.
It is people like those that post these fanatic, hate filled comments, about something they don’t understand that have made islamic women the political symbol, not the muslim women themselves, it is other’s that want to portray it as something sinister and evil. I understand where you come from but I beg to differ a little bit. I am also a Black woman from Europe, second from African generation.
There is a clear difference between nudity and sexuality and that’s where the perception may differ. Many Americans are known for their view about nudity in Europe and her being half naked is not the reason why American culture is perceived as sex craved idiots.
Many Scandinavians are very cool with nudity and many take bath with family members. I knew some of them when in college. I wouldn’t myself cause I was raised by a catholic african portuguese family. Still I can understand that and when you know that many Scandinavians are among the most peaceful and respectful people…
The fact is in most african countries and european, women can breastfeed in public. In countriesides or in some places like Namibia desert, some pacific islands, there are still tribes, like the namibians bushmens who live with tongs and completely half naked wether you’r a man or a woman…they don’t have higher rate of rape or jump to one another because of that. They are rather peaceful, innocent people.
The reason why, i think Americans are perceived as sex craved ones is because of the hypocrisy upon which they react against innocent nudity like going nuts because of a female nipple or when breastfeeding and yet are the champions when it comes to pornography publications, flashing their intimacy, having real TV shows where sexuality and deviancy is worshipped, stars showing their intimacy, ect…and still don’t find it as obscene as a female nipple or a female breastfeeding her son or just bresat tanning !
It’s that double standard. It is even more laughable because Americans are obssessed like no other about boobs…big boobs. You won’t find that obssession in Europe where female breast is as no big deal as male chest.
It seems to me that female nakedness is AUTOMATICALLY sexualized and that should not be the case, especially when you tolerate porn and violence among children who are raised in there but dissmiss innocent nudity and see it as more harmfull than the first ones. I mean when you have video vixen on rap with sexual lyrics and sexualized poses and dancing,…compare to this…
There is absolutely no correlation between sex craze and the amount of clothes you have on.
