Angelina Jolie: Lust is Ruthless
Check out this new poster for Angelina Jolie’s upcoming animated feature Beowulf, which is getting the deluxe IMAX treatment. Looks a little Tomb Raider-ish, no?
The Robert Zemeckis‘ (Forrest Gump, Polar Express) film will be released simultaneously in IMAX 3D and regular theaters on Nov. 16.
“IMAX 3D has enabled us to tell stories in a whole new way, and we are very excited to offer moviegoers a chance to experience Beowulf in this incredible format,” said Zemeckis. “IMAX lends itself to the incredible image detail in Beowulf and in 3D, it will transport the audience directly into the story.”
Beowulf will also star Ray Winstone as the warrior Beowulf, Anthony Hopkins, Crispin Glover, and John Malkovich. Sounds like there are a lot of baddies in this movie. Love it!

=============================== Go away
The trailer looks inviting. I like these type of movies. If it is anything like “Lords of the Rings”. Epic movies are attracted to young males and you know the English teachers will make the high school student see it and probably write a paper!
Let’s stick to reality and stop promoting tabloids.
The trailer looks really cool. I love epic fantasy/adventure films.
Some info on TOLKIEN and Beowulf (source: wikipedia)
Of Tolkien’s academic publications, the 1936 lecture “Beowulf: the Monsters and the Critics” had a lasting influence on Beowulf research. Lewis E. Nicholson said that the article Tolkien wrote about Beowulf is “widely recognized as a turning point in Beowulfian criticism”, noting that Tolkien established the primacy of the poetic nature of the work as opposed to the purely linguistic elements. He also revealed in his famous article how highly he regarded Beowulf; “Beowulf is among my most valued sources…” And indeed, there are many influences of Beowulf in the Lord of the Rings. When Tolkien wrote, the consensus of scholarship deprecated Beowulf for dealing with childish battles with monsters rather than realistic tribal warfare; Tolkien argued that the author of Beowulf was addressing human destiny in general, not as limited by particular tribal politics, and therefore the monsters were essential to the poem. (Where Beowulf does deal with specific tribal struggles, as at Finnsburg, Tolkien argued firmly against reading in fantastic elements.)
Anyone read that Posh is making the press sign a contract to not ask her any personal questions at any press conference for the Spice Girls Reunion. The contract is worded exactly like the one Angelina’s lawyers wrote up for the Mighty Heart premiere. Let’s see how much sh*t Posh get? Wonder if the Fox news people or others will attack her also. I doubt it. And that’s what’s so sad. The blantant hypocrisy of those people in the media who constantly single out Angelina she isn’t doing anything wrong. *sigh*
Angie was filming Beowulf around Octomber of 2005. And yes she was pregnant at the time. She was at the very early stage of her pregnancy though. The posters look very dark and misterious. Another movie to anticipate this year.
Thanks Jared!!
Coo1. There are threee epic battles in this story. I could only imagine this fantasy/epic movie on a IMAX. Is there any more art work about this film anywhere?

Yes Angelina was pregnant, was filming this at end of October/early November 2005 at the same time the many pixs of Angelina, Brad, Maddox, and Zahara walking on the beach by their Malibu home were taken. They were all in LA on a break for Angelina to film this after being in Canada together for AOJJ. Brad had on a fedora which looks like one of the ones he wears lately, Maddox was running around all over the beach, and Zahara was in her babybjorn strapped on Angelina. These were the pixs where Brad reached out and put his arm on Angelina, one of their first PDA, which are now many many in number. Neither can now keep their hands and other body parts from being in contact. LOL.
LOL Posh and her PR are doing this to get the nuclear ‘Angelina’ reaction from th (i.e., going batshit crazy because they can’t ask AJ when her last period was) — but of course she won’t get any sh*t because no one really cares, not in the U.S. anyway. The UK might go a bit wack.

Thanks CMAR! Yep lucky for us to have JJ’s to counter these tabloids. Unfortunately, JJ’s has also attracted these hater gnats and anti JP maggots that no matter how you swat, just seems to grow and crawl from any cracks and crevice. You’re obviuously not college educated and know nothing about great literature and Arthurian Legend. Beowulf is required reading for every English Lit class. This movie will be popular with people in the know about such things.

Yeah, and you must be a high-school flunky. No class, no culture. I would have recommended you go to the library and borrow the book, but Beowulf like AMH is too deep and complex for your simple brain to comprehend.
Okay, gotta work now. BBL.
Please stop copying hateful posts.
Guys, stop picking on Lela. She’s like the product of so many high schools nowadays — culturally illiterate, never bother to read, think reading is boring, don’t even know what an epic poem is, never mind the effect the poems have on literature. I’d imagine she isn’t much over 16 or 17 anyway. Give her time, she may learn something if her reading ever progresses beyond Harlequin love stories.
You know what — it would be interesting if somebody did a survey on who is better educated, Angelina fans vs. X’s fans. From what they say on these threads and how they say it, a lot of X’s fans seem to reek of Eau de Trailer Park.

868 Angelina is a mature woman : 07/04/2007 at 1:57 pm
Mature self assured women and men possess the ability to remain friends with those they have once been close to if at all possible. They recognize that life is fluid, relationships evolve and undergone change as people themselves change. Angelina is one of those people. It is not surprising that she would still have some contact with both BBT and JLM, with whom she shared part of her life when she was younger. Brad is also one of those people. He is producing films that BBT and GP are starring in. You can’t just erase your past no matter how much you were disappointed that things did not work out as you’d hoped, you have to own it as a part of who you are today, and then live in the present.
Only spiteful angry inmature childish individuals try to wipe out their past, and take swipes at those they were once close to. Notice how most of the hollywood couples who share children maintain some type of contact, most good some very bad. She who will remain unnamed did not understand that for a relationship to survive compromise must be practiced. When you have a partner who is saying time and time again it’s time for kids, and that partner’s very real needs are ignored, failure will occur. The very real desire or not for kids breaks up many a marriage that does not have a very strong foundation of shared interests and joint goals to begin with. It almost seems that Brad put all his love and energy for almost two years into renovating that huge beautiful house in LA, only to find that an empty house was no home at all for him. He walked away from that quiet big beautiful empty house to a noisy home filled with love and children and happiness and fulfilment. His home is now where ever his heart is.
It is always better to be honest with yourself and your partner, even if honesty means the relationship is doomed. Unnamed She does not appear to be the motherly type, she has never been seen with a child in her arms, even her godchild. Some of her fans have this fantasy that she would welcome and want Brad’s children in her life, get real. She did not want his children when married to him, or else a child/children would have appeared by birth or adoption. No matter what anyone says or spins, the lack of children, the lack of this major life changeing shared goal by both spouses, caused major nonrepairable cracks in this marriage. Unnamed She fans cannot accept this because it is the polar opposite of their view of this fake PR created all american apple pie mom.
Unnamed She is a driven career woman, not an earth mother like Angelina. There is nothing wrong with what either of these women prize in their lives, they are who they are.

If that’s the way you write with a 3.85 GPA, whatever college you attend should have their accreditation yanked. I’ve never seen so many grammatical errors in one paragraph in my life.
Just because YOU don’t care about Beowulf or epic poetry doesn’t mean that nobody else does.
Open your mind a little bit, honey. Ignorance does NOT become you.
I know, I know, I shouldn’t respond to the haters, but some of them just invite it……
There seem to be two Lela’s - one who can barely spell or write, and another who claims to have a 3.85 current gpa (which is the gpa I graduated college with while my first child was only two, but I digress)…are these two the same person? Oh, how I wish people would stick with one screename.
…. but yeah, I think it would be FASCINATING to do a survey of average education levels of JP fans vs JA fans. It would be very eye-opening, I think.

Yes, and your opening line “I smell another mighty flop” immediately pegs you as *such* a neutral fan who merely wants to discuss opinions… riiight.
That was sarcasm “sweetums” in case you didn’t catch on. ;)
Advice: Don’t come here with such an obvious agenda and then get your wittle feelwins all hurt when somebody calls you out.
“She’s absolutely serious, absolutely informed,” says former secretary of State Colin Powell. “Her work with refugees is not something to decorate herself. She studies the issues.” Powell has spoken with Jolie several times over the years, and they’ve been honored together at benefits for refugee causes. There is, he says, no sanctimony about her. “For her, it’s not about saving the world, it’s about saving kids,” he says. “She doesn’t need this. This needed her.”
lela is just being stupid and idiot !
“We have very passionate conversations. [Laughs.] I always learn from her, and I never walk out of a conversation with Angie without learning something. She doesn’t acknowledge borders so much, and neither do I. It’s a voluntary view of the world. She’s capable of respecting other cultures while remaining herself”
Silverman says she’s not one to get star-struck — even with British singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse performing and such stars as Cameron Diaz, Bruce Willis and John Travolta gathering under the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal City.
She does concede that last month, while she was working on her Sarah Silverman Program (which returns to Comedy Central this fall), she found herself obsessed with a special visitor to the studio lot.
“Angelina Jolie was shooting a commercial for Japan right next door to us,” Silverman says. “And we all decided to write outside that day. She came over and said hi and said she watches the show. She’s so strikingly beautiful.
“None of us could work the rest of the day until we knew she was gone. It was so pathetic.”
“And there are people in my own profession I admire, who have done things and made substantial change, like Bono and Angelina Jolie. They are models for how you can meaningfully devote your life to causes. It’s not just lending your face. It’s giving yourself. A lot of people lack meaning in their lives, and that’s why getting active in issues like microfinance gives you such a center to your life”
“[Angelina] sets a shining example for everyone to break down barriers.” ~
“I have nothing but admiration for her and i wish her beautiful family the very best.”
The other influence in her transformation is — surprisingly — Hollywood’s baddest good girl, Angelina Jolie, who inspired her to jump aboard the celebrity charity train and become involved in work in Cambodia and Nicaragua. “I just love Angie’s fearlessness, her provocativeness. Before I met her, I was in this mindset where everybody hated me, and I hated me, and everything was too much. She made me see how silly I was, how I couldn’t just sit on my a**.”
JENNIFR LOVE-HEWITT
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were the couple everyone — not only media and fans, but stars, too — most wanted to see.
“I love them as a couple,” gushed Jennifer Love Hewitt. “I love to see people who are truly about each other and doing it right.”
Evangeline Lilly wants Angelina Jolie to be the first female American president.
The actress, reportedly engaged to her Lost co-star Dominic Monaghan, believes Angelina would be perfect in the White House because of her social conscience, the web site reported.
Evangeline said: “Angelina is incredible. I can’t emulate her. My prediction is that she’ll be the first female president of the United States, with Brad as her first man.”
Working with Angie, I was just talking to somebody about this upstairs, I also experienced working with Brad too, like just this unbelievable extra thing that they bring with them which I wouldn’t wish upon anybody which is camped outside the hotel right now, are 25 to 50 photographers just waiting because she’s in this building. And that would happen, we were shooting at the armory over in Brooklyn. I’d know when she was working because I’d come to work and there would be all these people there
On Angelina Jolie: “Stunningly beautiful. She has the kind of mouth other people pay to get
Which celebrity do you admire?
Angelina Jolie. I find her to be excruciatingly sexy, and her beauty is undeniable. But it’s also what she’s accomplished as a human being. She could be doing anything with that money, a brilliant career and so much talent, and she chooses to, in her off time, fly to places where she knows her voice is needed. She balances being a mother, a career woman and a humanitarian at the same time. That is beautiful.
“She’s an extraordinary woman who deserves to be loved for her humanitarian work and all she does for great causes.”
” I really admire Winona and Angelina, so those actresses are the ones I’d love to emulate in serious drama roles.”
CRAZY QUOTES POSTER IS BACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
“But I’m taking ‘yummy mummy’ to a whole new level. Angelina Jolie is an icon for me. It’s about dimensions, about not being just one thing, not being typecast. I can be smart and sexy and funny and I can be all those things at the same time.”
“It was an incredible experience,” Common told Northern Ireland’s Belfast Telegraph. “I had some of the best lessons working with Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy. He’s an incredible actor and real cool. Angelina [Jolie]’s one of the best people, she’s a good soul and very gifted.”
give us some famous quotes about Brad pitt.
I have a great respect for her. She is a good egg. And a great actress and I admire what she is doing with her UN work
Angelina is certainly inspiring for all her hard work. Absolute dedication, love for people all over the world. I absolutely found her inspiring. I have been fortunate and given lot of opportunities, it’s just not satisfying unless you can show that in some way and help those who need the help. I believe you need to be there.
. I’m proud of Angelina. She has out her hand on it. Being parents who are there, who will be there for their upbringing and bodyguards always seem to be needed when we are going, announce for some kind of film. There is going to be a lot of hoopla around it. Most of the time we do not have to live with that and we want to ensure that our kids have normal upbringing as far as possible.
#44: hi, tabitha. where have you been? You weren’t on the other threads yesterday. Happy 4th of July to you.
#80: Everybody who saw the one with Gerard Butler are saying how the movie sucked. It was not his performance but maybe it was how they played the story and how it was shot. This is not real live action but “performance capture”. It ain’t gonna be like Polar Express cause it would be better.
Everybody, here’s the link and your first look at Beowulf:

They’re going to have a PG13 on theaters and an NCR17 rating on IMAX. They say it is like a great video game in looks so you know all the geeks are looking forward to it. Here’s what it says about Angie:
Then there is Angelina Jolie as the demon mother. Good God. If you’ve ever thought Jolie was attractive at all you will explode when you see her in this. The stills they showed me had her naked with this T-1000 like liquid gold covering parts of her body. There were 3 photos with varying degrees of skin shown, the last just barely covered what the skimpiest of bikini bottoms would cover. Her face is absolute evil seductress, as pretty as she’s ever appeared on film before. Va-va-voom!
Brad Pitt: We want the best for our families. We want to live a dignified life. We want our children to be happy and have opportunities, and oppression and tyranny does not belong in that for any of us. And you know, if you look at all our emotions, they’re all the same right across the board. And you know, I’m stating the obvious. But a reminder doesn’t hurt, does it?
Pitt: It’s just not enough anymore that it’s entertainment and enjoyment. For me personally I’m saying, in my life, you can move the ball forward a little bit. And that is just getting your hands dirty, rolling up your sleeves a little bit and seeing where it takes you. And that’s what this is about. Where is it going to go? The interesting thing is—is how it evolves for me individually for myself and watching the same with Angie. But where’s it gonna go? I’m not gonna stop.
Clooney proud of Pitt, Jolie charity work
U.S. actor George Clooney says he “couldn’t be prouder” to be the friend of globetrotting do-gooders Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Over the past year or so, Pitt and Jolie have traveled ceaselessly, raising awareness and offering humanitarian aid to some of the world’s neediest citizens.
“I’m concerned for their well-being,” Clooney said. “I’m more concerned by the idea that if you don’t do those things, what does that mean? … I couldn’t be prouder to be their friend. I think that they’re doing a phenomenal job. They’re really committed to bringing attention. They have a very smart theory, which is, if the cameras are going to follow them, they’re going to go where the cameras can do some good.”
Hey! #21 False or True. I think most Jen fans get sick at the thought of Jen getting back together with that slimeball. He found someone on his own level to be with and we wish them well together.
I know Jen’s fans because none of them can post without name calling. Thank you whoever is posting the quotations, better that than bitter commnents and conversations.
97 COLIN POWEL : 07/04/2007 at 3:57 pm
“She’s absolutely serious, absolutely informed,” says former secretary of State Colin Powell. “Her work with refugees is not something to decorate herself. She studies the issues.” Powell has spoken with Jolie several times over the years, and they’ve been honored together at benefits for refugee causes. There is, he says, no sanctimony about her. “For her, it’s not about saving the world, it’s about saving kids,” he says. “She doesn’t need this. This needed her.”
“99 MARIANNE PEARL : 07/04/2007 at 3:58 pm

#91: smart is not in the way you speak or write. Smart is how you are different from a dummy. Simple logic. I took Beowulf in high school a long. long time ago, that’s what I was saying. What is so earth shattering about that? It’s just a fact, nothing more.
Now, your name is a wonder. What is it you’re trying to imply actually?
Sanctification - it’s how God sets apart a person, place, or thing in order that His purposes may be accomplished.

“Unnamed She is a driven career woman, not an earth mother like Angelina. There is nothing wrong with what either of these women prize in their lives, they are who they are.”
*****************************************************************
It is quite evident that while you lack the ability to understand the message you do possess the ablity to be snarky. No attempt was made to either sanctify Angelina or devalue JA.
“There is nothing wrong with what either of these women prize in their lives, they are who they are” seems pretty self explanatory to me. Each person is unique and has different interests and goals in their life. People have to accept who they are.
It is disingeneous of JA to proclaim to all who are listening that one wants and has always wanted children when there is no logical reason that one has not had those children. If one does not want childen or is unsure as to whether they want children, then make no comment implying otherwise. There is nothing wrong with feeling this way. One is not true to one’s self when they spend time trying to fit into the public personna that has been draped on them by others. One is much better off in the long run to be yourself as much as one can, warts and all.
Many of the darts thrown at Angelina have been fueled by things she has said and done in the past, and her honesty about her private life, her lack of PR spin, in my opinion, has until recently been too open to the public. She has owned up to who she is, and people have twisted her words and actions in negative ways. She is more reticent now, which I think is good, as she now has a family to consider when she is speaking.
Neither woman is a saint, neither woman is a sinner. One woman has been too honest, one woman has been less than honest. They are just two women who have very different outlooks, viewpoints and interests in life. One woman is a uniquely rare beautiful person who values her family most of all, one woman is an attractive person who has taken the time and effort to make the most of her looks who values her career and friends. They are both driven people who have very different goals and priorities. They are who they are.
Hi , Real Tita. I worked 13 hours yesterday. So I was really tired last night. I read quickly through the threads, then went to bed.
Oh and once again i shoot and score and bring the crazy fans running. Funny how culture and class and education come into a celeb blog post, this is not bbc world news people. As for ignorance, by responding to me and being rude and resorting to being nasty i think you just joined me in that corner lol. And my spelling, since you all have a time on your hands why don’t you spell check for Jared lol. It’s weird how AJ who talks about tolerance and respect has some of the nastiest fans floating around, why do you guys get so mad and defensive when she’s said she doesn’t care what people think. Maybe you need to take a leaf out of her book and stop being sooo paranoid. LMAO you never fail me with all the craziness. And really i think you all need to forget about Jen and get over it, you obsess about it more than the fans do cos AJ has kids with Brad and a solid relationship and i don’t think she really cares what Jen is up to, neither should you.

PRO-CLINTON CROWD
The Clear Lake crowd was decidedly pro-Clinton, however, roaring as the former president and senator neared. Hillary Clinton signs and stickers dominated the route.
“I love Hillary,” said Dee Kahler, a hairdresser from Britt, Iowa, who grabbed both Clintons in hugs as they came by. Her daughter had driven from Minnesota with her grandchildren to see the couple.
The Clintons, marching near the front with former Gov. Tom Vilsack, weaved back and forth across the parade route to plunge into the crowd and shake hands. “Thank you for coming, happy Fourth of July,” the New York senator said repeatedly.
nani nani bubu? LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! How old are you? Like 5 years old? This is no longer kindergarten folks. he’s dumb. A laid back stoner who the most interesting things he says is while stone or drunk just then he’s funny as hell.
I hear Paramount Pictures chief Brad Grey was on the phone today talking up his studio’s release of the mega-blockbuster Transformers when, all of a sudden, helicopters swooped out of nowhere and drowned him out. “It’s Jeffrey and David,” he quipped to the caller. After all, DreamWorks has been accusing Grey of trying to grab credit for its movie product because theirs are performing fab while Paramount’s films flop. But the messy integration and hurt feelings ever since DreamWorks sold their studio to Paramount 18 months ago may be easing. That’s because, after trying to boss DreamWorks behind the scenes for months and months, Grey finally gave up. Since April, Paramount has been issuing tortured clarifications to ensure DreamWorks gets its glory. Now Brad stays politic instead of constantly proclaiming he’s in charge. Grey is telling people that, “right now, everybody is getting along, we’re in a good place”. The last time Paramount was sitting higher than 3rd place in studio market share was 2001. Well, next week, Paramount will be in 1st place. That’s why DreamWorks has Paramount cowed.
I’m told that, when the slightest thing goes wrong, the DreamWorks toppers complain straight to Katzenberg, who complains straight to Grey. And then, if it’s not handled quick enough, the very scary Geffen gets on the phone to Grey. “It’s brutal,” a source describes. It doesn’t help that many DreamWorks execs are now doing jobs as part of Paramount “and there’s an invisible tether back to DreamWorks,” an insider explains. The other day, DreamWorks’ Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank, the pair running TV production, were renegotiating their deal. Soon, Brad was hearing that Paramount wasn’t being generous enough. “DreamWorks is just a freight car but they’re driving the whole damn Paramount train,” a source puts it. “You can’t ignore them, or they’ll grind everything to a ******* halt.”
So now Brad looks like Hollywood’s newest hero sitting on top of the heap. Oy, that doesn’t sit well with Spielberg, Katzenberg and Geffen. Used to be, every day a new rumor surfaced that Brad was getting dumped. Fortunately for him, Grey has a good relationship with Philippe Dauman, the No. 2 at parent company Viacom. “Philippe loves him. They have the same temperament,” a Paramount source explained to me. “But Brad’s biggest problem is not Viacom. It’s DreamWorks.” From now until Christmas, DreamWorks will supply most of Paramount’s high-profile product, culminating with Sweeney Todd directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp. Not until next summer’s Indiana Jones and Star Trek sequels does Paramount put out a complete slate. Until then, Grey will still be drowned out by his billionaire colleagues
+++++++++++++++
Brad Grey trying to get credit he doesn’t deserve? ala The Departed and Dreamgirls all over again. Katzenberg and Geffen are way too big fishes for litlle Brad, I still think he will get fired sooner or later.

Interesting analysis. I especially like the above paragraph. However, I do enjoy Angie’s candid comments. I find it refreshing.
Thanks Jared for the new thread. Beowulf was not part of my school curriculum, so the earlier posts have been an education for me. I also look forward to seeing the movie.
When Brad Pitt hit the red carpet at the Cannes film festival last month looking like a modern-day Jay Gatsby, he sent a powerful signal to men across the world: dressing up is cool again.
Paris menswear designers on Friday showed a plethora of retro-favoured outfits that would not look out of place on the hero of F Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel The Great Gatsby.
Louis Vuitton and Kris Van Assche both delved into black-and-white photo books for inspiration. Kenzo cited the Caribbean, in the days when legendary writers Ernest Hemingway, Noel Coward and Ian Fleming made it their playground.
Meanwhile, Franck Boclet brought tuxedo jackets and riding gear up to date in his well-received debut for Emanuel Ungaro.
“Men are paying more and more attention to their appearance,” the French designer said in an interview. “They want things that are personal, that are well-crafted.”
Jackets in sober shades of black and grey featured Boclet’s trademark crisp shoulders and nipped-in waist. Paired with wide-legged trousers and pointy brogues, they brought to mind the effortless elegance of matinee idol Cary Grant.
Boclet’s arrival caps a two-year turnaround at Ungaro under new ownership and management. He brings impeccable tailoring skills honed at Francesco Smalto, but also a taste for blending flawless classicism with rougher elements.
Van Assche similarly drew plaudits for his eponymous line, showcased in a dilapidated garage in eastern Paris.
A rising star of the menswear scene, the Belgian designer was recently appointed to replace his former boss Hedi Slimane as head of the men’s division at Christian Dior. He is scheduled to show his first separate collection for the luxury group on Sunday.
For his own label, Van Assche was inspired by German photographer August Sander’s turn-of-the-century images of peasants and aristocrats.
The outfits deftly blended old-world class with modern ease. They included cropped white cotton waistcoats, worn over sleeveless white T-shirts and grey trousers that were pleated at the hip in a refined take on the baggy jeans popular with teens.
A shirt, blazer and shorts combination came in matching lightweight cotton with shirt stripes.
“My aim is to get young people to wear suits, and if I have to make baggy trousers to go with the jacket or if I have to make the jacket out of shirt material, that’s fine by me,” Van Assche told reporters. “The aim is to make people more beautiful, more elegant.”
Kenzo set off its collection of lushly shimmering suits and faded knits with a presentation that had models posing inside wooden crates filled with tropical plants. Highlights included bermuda shorts in shiny silk taffeta woven into a geometric motif.
Vuitton conjured images of Biarritz in the 1930s with sky blue cotton chinos, scallop-patterned jackets and shirts made from panels sewn together in a technique inspired by parasols.
Transparency has emerged as a key trend for next summer, evidenced here by a pearl-finish trench coat and translucent blazers that exposed shoulderpads and seams.
“I liked the floods,” front-row guest Kanye West told the AP, referring to the cropped pants that were perfect for beach-combing.
The style-conscious rapper is preparing for the upcoming release of his album Graduation and has tapped Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, a longtime Vuitton collaborator, to design the cover.
It seems that winning Grammys is no longer enough - West revealed that he wants to follow in the footsteps of fellow rap star Pharrell Williams by designing a collection with Vuitton.

Grey won’t be fired as long a the head of Viacom likes him. Heck all CEO get credit for what others do that’s just business

One more thing, why cant you be yourself, you certainly dont look like you’re a Yale law school candidate judging by the way you wrote. so dont lie. It’s so obvious.
Wait until the movie comes out and look at the gross before you start calling it a flop. Right now, you are just spouting things with NO supporting data. Quint has your first look inside the offices of Robert Zemeckis’ BEOWULF!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here taking a break from the Santa Barbara Film Festival for the day to tell you about a small detour I took on my way up here from LA.
I was drawn to Ventura on my way up the 101 to Santa Barbara where I was ambushed by a crazed individual with a wicked gleam in his eye. I recognized this madman as none other than Roger Avary. He held me hostage at a ’50s themed diner for a whole meal and then leaned in close as The Platters began TWILIGHT TIME and said, “I have something to show you.”
Images of SILENT HILL ran through my head. I had talked to this happy lunatic before about the video game adaptation and after having seen the trailer for Christophe Gans’ flick it has shot up into my top 2 or 3 most anticipated films of ‘06. Avary had looked further into the future than I had, though.
In 2007 Robert Zemeckis is releasing his next film, an adaptation of BEOWULF that was scripted by Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman. The cast includes Crispin Glover as the monstrous Grendel (the first time Glover has reteamed with Zemeckis since all that bad blood surrounding BACK TO THE FUTURE 2), Ray Winstone as Beowulf, Angelina Jolie as the demonic mother of Grendel, Anthony Hopkins as the King being tormented by Grendel. Also in the cast is Brendan Gleeson, Alison Lohman, John Malkovich and Robin Wright Penn.
There has been some concerned discussion about this film online since it was announced. People are worried it will be watered down or kiddie friendly because of Zemeckis choosing to make this story using the process he calls Performance Capture, which he used recently on the kid’s book turned holiday family film POLAR EXPRESS. I’d be lying if I said I was a little disappointed that he wasn’t filming it live-action as I’ve always wanted to see this story done balls to the wall in flesh and blood on the big screen.
When we walked into the unassuming Beowulf offices the first thing I saw was an L shaped set-up going along two walls with a flat panel big screen TV on each wall, connected to at least 10 computers manned by around 6 people. The rest of the office walls were covered with posters for BACK TO THE FUTURE and its sequels, and various other Zemeckis films. There was a sweet-ass BACK TO THE FUTURE pinball machine in the meeting room down the hall from this set-up. I didn’t play it, but I really, really, really wanted to.
I was introduced to Christopher Browne, the post production coordinator, who led Avary and myself to a back room where the “Beowulf Bible” was sitting on the conference table. It was bound in thick, brown weathered leather with the title BEOWULF imprinted on the cover and was about as thick as a big city phone book. Within this tome was the movie told in 8X10-ish sized color stills, concept art and computer tests.
I was looking at Ray Winstone as Beowulf, one of the first pics, and was marveling at his costume and Viking beard. I was assuming it was a lighting study or costume design test, a model for the animators. Browne then told me that what I was looking at wasn’t a still, but a computer generated image, a test shot of what the final product will look like. I looked closer and I didn’t believe him. I’m not exaggerating when I say this still was photoreal.
Browne told me about how Zemeckis took the criticisms of POLAR EXPRESS to heart, specifically the “dead eye syndrome.” The animation work on POLAR EXPRESS was pretty phenomenal, but even the biggest fans of that movie can’t deny there was this doll-like feeling to the characters, that there wasn’t anything behind their eyes, making it really really creepy to watch these otherwise living beings with no spark of soul or humanity in their eyes.
So for Beowulf they used this process called OEG (electro oculography) which maps the actor’s eye movements, down to eye-lid flutters. They place three sensors on the skin around the actor’s eyes that pick up electrical pulses given off by the eye muscles and surrounding nerves.
They showed me a side-by-side comparison of Ray Winstone before this new technology gave him human eyes and after. The difference in realism is astonishing. The “after” shot looked photoreal and the before shot looked like a top of the line computer game character. The secret to realism with these CG creations is all in the eyes, commonly referred to as the windows to the soul. Weta Digital got that with Gollum and King Kong and Lucas with Yoda in Episode 3.
I saw Hopkins as the King, Gleeson as a Viking (of course he’s a Viking) and an example of how you can take away or add on years to an actor using a still of Robin Wright Penn. One pic had her subtly wrinkled, aged in her 50s and another was the same exact pose, shot, lighting, everything but had her looking like she did in her PRINCESS BRIDE days. I would have believed either as a real photograph.
Va-va-voom!
And Grendel. Everybody wants to hear about Crispin Glover as Grendel. When I flipped the page to the monster I immediately bent down, nose near the plastic to take a close look at him. In my mind I had Grendel pictured as this long taloned, large beast… muscular, cool looking, viscous, but sleek, you know?
What I saw was much more disturbing.
In the concept art, Grendel seems to stand about 15 feet tall and is almost completely hairless. His arms and legs are long, ending in arthritic looking knuckled hands and feet. He looks bent and awkward, his body covered in tumorous lumps. His skin is gangrene green and covered in sores and splotches. His teeth are crooked, broken and protruding from his maw. He looks a little like what I pictured the Slow Mutants in Stephen King’s Dark Tower series to be.
The thing about the design of Grendel I loved the most was that his gut is misshapen and protruding unnaturally, almost like a starving Ethiopian. The skin on the gut is just translucent enough so you can see the intestines underneath. Yeah, it’s really damn disgusting.
My favorite piece of production art involving Grendel was his shadow massive on a wall with some terrified men with swords running about. The shadow showed an action… Grendel had his arms up in a Y shape. Both hands had something gripped in them, but it wasn’t until taking a closer look at the left hand that you can make out what it is. You can see legs hanging down. He had just ripped a man in half. I desperately wanted to steal this out of the office, but I was under too much scrutiny. Sorry.
Grendel looks absolutely nothing like Crispin Glover, at least in the stills I saw… well, he did look creepy and Glover is creepy, but it didn’t look like Crispin in make-up or a suit. Actually, if he shared a resemblance to any cast member I’d say there was a slight Anthony Hopkins look to his face. According to Avary, he and Neil Gaiman went to the original epic poem and did as literal a translation as possible, with the only liberties filling in holes in the story, either gaps in time or something left unexplained.
In this instance, they realized that Grendel was the son of the demon and The King, which would be the reason he’s tormenting his father, as well as dragging living men off to his mother.
I also saw much artwork on Beowulf’s dragon son, environment tests that ranged from snow-capped mountains to walled cities to Jolie’s skeleton-littered cave-like den. All of this was concept art. It looked good, but I can’t really get a feel for how it’ll look in the film itself. For instance, much of it looked painted (think Frazetta brush strokes) and with the technology at Zemeckis’ disposal he could very well translate that directly and make a moving painting or it could just be like regular concept art used for reference, colors, lighting, etc.
After I flipped through the whole book, I was led back out to the room with the L-shaped monitor and computer set-up I told you about earlier. In this room, we had layout artists: Trevor Tuttle, Matthew Ward, Harald Kraut and Jason McDade as well as integration artists Chad Lichty and John Meehan, all plugging away on their computers.
This is the stuff that blew me away, so pay attention…
I had always heard about how this kind of filmmaking gave an immense amount of freedom to the director, but I never realized how much.
Let’s start with capturing the performance… There were no cameras involved, with the exception of those that read the data from the mo-cap signals attached to the performer. They captured audio and their movements only. Since there is no camera that means there was no set-up, no framing, no stopping to get a different angle. The performers, I was told, treated it much like a play. They ran through whole scenes without stopping, their movements and voices being recorded.
So, after the story has been acted out what happens is the smart tech people take the mo-cap information and lay over a sort of rudimentary animation. This is what I saw. It was about on par with a decent PS2 cut-scene. Full environments, full color, fully costumed characters with the faces of those playing the roles. Nowhere near final, but you can see the whole scene.

****************************************************************
Wow…another interesting post. I especially like the above portion. Sweet. :-)
Okay, time to get some fresh air. Looking forward to seeing more interesting posts tonight. :-)
162 Isabelle II
Isabelle II you can give that person all the facts you want but it will not change. She is angey with a person she is never met. Thus she has the problem not Brad.
They then set up what I guess would be called a virtual studio with this information. On the ceiling was a contraption that consisted of 3 long vertical bars that were crossed with two short horizontal bars (almost like a number sign - #). There are sensors on those bars.
Underneath this contraption, on the floor, was a digital video camera with the lens-cap permanently attached. This lens cap had been whited out and the word “Zemeckavision” was written across it. The camera isn’t important, it’s actually doing nothing. All the info comes from a 3 inch big sensor attached to front of the camera. I was told they had previously used a coffee cup instead of a camera, but just mentally using a camera made things easier.
What happens here is the computer geniuses set up a sequence with the aforementioned rudimentary animation and Zemeckis picks up the video camera, which is being tracked by the sensors above. Those sensors tell the computers where the camera is within this virtual set and on the two widescreen monitor son the walls you see what the camera would see in this virtual set.
Essentially, Zemeckis is floating around this virtual set. He’s able to move around until he finds the perfect angle and then they’ll run the scene, recording the angle of the camera. It’s almost like Matrix-time. The world is frozen, each character in the scene is frozen in their starting point and you can move around them, in the environment and see them from whatever angle you want. When you’re ready they hit play on the world and everything unfolds, but from whatever point of view you’ve chosen.
Pretty cool, eh? I can see how addictive this must be to someone who wants to control every aspect of filmmaking. You can literally walk around a set and pick whatever angle you want from the very best performance your actors gave, all without having to relight and place the camera again.
I was also told that they can program a dolly move, map it out through the scene where you just stand in one place and tilt up or down or pan as the dolly rolls through the scene.
Essentially they have all this raw material that Zemeckis shapes scene by scene, shot by shot and slowly assembles a rough cut of the movie. That is gathered together and then moment by moment it’s animated using, to its full extent, all the motion capture information, including the OEG information and the result is what we’ll see in the theaters next year.
The first scene that they showed me this technology with was set in a barroom, with Beowulf arguing with a group of men, one that stuttered very badly. The rest of the group makes fun of him. There’s also a barmaid (with ample cleavage), scrubbing down a table that gets a few cat-calls.
I asked if I could hold the camera and give it a shot. They obliged me and I walked throughout the frozen scene, going for close-ups on random characters, trying dutch angles, zooming into the cleavage… I might be a perv, but it did get a laugh. Then they ran the scene with me whipping awkwardly from character to character. They didn’t record it, but it was really neat to get to play in the sandbox a bit.
The next scene (Slight spoiler here if you don’t know the tale) they showed me was a sequence that happens immediately after Beowulf cuts Grendel’s arm off and nails it to a board that is hung up within the King’s building. The scene has Anthony Hopkins up on a platform giving a speech, the beast’s arm hung up above and behind him. Beowulf and his men stand in front of the King’s platform. Hopkins says something like, “This place for me has been a hall of sadness… but today the monster’s rule has ended!” He gives his thanks to Beowulf and offers him many women as a token of his gratitude.
After they showed me this sequence, they asked me if I wanted to have a go at actually directing this scene. How could I not accept?
They set it up to record my camera movements. I took off my glasses and put my eye up to the eye-piece (the info on the widescreen monitors was seen there as well) and tried to pick an interesting angle. I decided to place the camera low, looking up at Hopkins with Grendel’s arm in the background screen left. I told them I was ready, but they wouldn’t let me continue unless I called, “Action!” I think they were just trying to make me sound like a moron, you know… have a laugh at the geek, but I played along.
The scene unfolded and I moved the camera over only when Hopkins leaned down to put his hand on Beowulf’s shoulder, which resulted in Grendel’s arm being framed between Beowulf and The King. It was a happy accident, but one that looked really good.
Of course they were just entertaining a visitor, so I don’t harbor any expectations that my framing will make it into the film, but it really was a rush. And hey… it exists on that hard drive somewhere. I was also told that Steven Spielberg had come in the Monday before and set-up a shot in the film, so whether it makes it or not, I got to play with the same toys as some of my childhood heroes.
As of my visit they were only just beginning their work, with absolutely nothing final that moved. As great as the stills were, the real test is when they make them move. The stills are impressive, but to trick the eye with a moving character is a lot more difficult.
I also talked to them about a rumor I heard about a possible dual release that would see the PG-13 version go wide and an NC-17 IMAX version go limited. They’re still in talks and this is a very delicate proposal as far as the MPAA goes. They haven’t approved of this before, worried that impressionable youths will go to see the NC-17 by accident, I guess. No matter what, they’re definitely considering an unrated cut for the DVD.
So, that’s what’s going on with BEOWULF right now. I’m a pretty old fashioned guy. I still prefer film over the best of HD technology, I still like well-done practical effects over CG, I think matte paintings look better than digital backgrounds. I don’t think this kind of filmmaking should be the norm, but I think it opens the doors to some amazing advancements in filmmaking. If they get to a point where this really gets to be photoreal, then just the deaging or aging technology is amazing.
This might be the future, either in full or in part. It might just be a new form of animation, a new way to tell a story. I have no real way of telling until I see at least a few minutes of finished animation cut together. What I can say is seeing the rough designs and tools that are being used to tell this story has me drooling in anticipation of seeing the final product. The passion of everyone involved, from Roger Avary to the tech guys who showed me all the toys, is contagious and strong enough to seep into the film itself.
A heartfelt thanks to Roger Avary for setting this whole thing up. Thanks also to Christopher Browne for leading me though everything, Matt Markwalder for keeping the line of communication open between Roger and myself, to the tech guys for letting me get a glimpse at the cool **** they get to do every day and, of course, to Robert Zemeckis for approving my visit and letting you AICN readers get the first look inside this project.
I hope you guys enjoyed this first look into Robert Zemeckis’ BEOWULF. I’m hoping to trick some concept art out of the production in the coming weeks, but it’s been hard going so far. I won’t give up the good fight, though. Hopefully I’ll have something to show you soon. ‘Til then this is Quint heading off to more flicks at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, bidding you a fond farewell and adieu.
stop with all the damn quotes!

Get a good translation. The translation will make it or break it for you. Check out some reviews on Amazon and see what they have to say about the translations before you buy it.
Also, an excellent Beowulf story is John Gardner’s “Grendel”, which tells the story in reverse from the POV of the monster.

Oops, almost missed you. Thank you so much Jill. :-) I’ll check it out.
quote from COLIN POWELL
COLIN POWEL : 07/04/2007 at 3:57 pm
“She’s absolutely serious, absolutely informed,” says former secretary of State Colin Powell. “Her work with refugees is not something to decorate herself. She studies the issues.” Powell has spoken with Jolie several times over the years, and they’ve been honored together at benefits for refugee causes. There is, he says, no sanctimony about her. “For her, it’s not about saving the world, it’s about saving kids,” he says. “She doesn’t need this. This needed her.”
Thank you JJ. I really miss those red carpet moments from AMH and Oceans 13. I read this poem in my high school English class in the Philippines. I did not understand it much then but that was a long time ago and I look forward to see this film especially since Angie is in it. I will miss her when she takes time off to take care of her family and U.N. work.
“Worth Reposting” great post. For some reason, the tabs are only attacking Angie which is sad. Look at Julia Roberts (she went for Danny when Danny was still married); Jennifer Lopez, Marc was married ? years with children when Jennifer Lopez got together with him; Rose McGowann (need I say more, you get the point) and more that I cannot think of at the moment. You don’t see the other women I mentioned being attacked like Angie. I know the answer, because it had to do with BRAD. People do not care for Marc Anthony, or Danny M. etc. People want Brad to be with JA, and believe it or not there are a few who wish he is still with Gwen. The fact is, Brad outgrew his past relationships. He is focussing on a different perspective. He said, we are parents first. What does that tell us? Our Bradley is all grown up and successfully too. He is a proud father, loving partner to Angie, producer, humanitarian and #5 in the most powerful people in U.S. He took the right choice, may be? The thing is growing up is not going to be perfect as life itself. You make your own choices. I still like Sean Smith’s words targeted at the tabs I hope. “Generally, when a relationship is happy and healthy, neither partner can be stolen by anyone.” Happy Fourth Brangelina fans and you too JJ.
I will rather have beautiful quotes and lovely pictures than having people quarreling. Keep posting beautiful posts. We need peace sometimes.
Hi Everybody!!!!
I always love seeing Angie act. This movie looks cool to. I recently read the Beowulf poem for an english-lit class. I think were gonna get some cool fight scenes. Real gross stuff. Lots of blood. Dismemberment that sort of thing. I loved the fight in the poem. It was clearly bloody.
Speaking of Angelina’s acting, I was hoping everyone still seeks out AMH. I made a vid in honor of the film, the pearls, and Brad and Angie being faithful to the book. Please check it out.

Brad was only 2 credits shy of graduating. I saw it on you tube when this reporter asked him about it.
Good afternoon and happy Fourth to those celebrating this holiday!
To the poster who is bringing those different quotes to this thread, please keep doing so. I love reading all those positive quotes rather than the back-and-forth negativity and discussion about the X which really really drags down the thread to a gutter level.

Beowulf IMAX 3D to Get Simultaneous Release
Source: IMAX Corporation June 29, 2007
IMAX Corporation, Paramount Pictures, Shangri-La Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that Beowulf, the latest film from Academy Award winning director Robert Zemeckis, the filmmaker behind such box office successes as Forrest Gump, The Polar Express, the “Back To The Future” series and What Lies Beneath, will be released domestically in IMAX® 3D simultaneously with the motion picture’s premiere in conventional theatres on November 16, 2007. The film will be released internationally within three weeks of the domestic launch.
Beowulf will be digitally converted into IMAX 3D and re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® through IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. Paramount Pictures will be the distributor of the motion picture to IMAX® theaters domestically, and Warner Bros. Pictures will be the distributor internationally.
Inspired by the 9th century English epic poem, Beowulf combines a digitally enhanced live-action filmmaking technology with an all-star cast that includes Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, Robin Wright Penn, Brendan Gleeson, Crispin Glover, Alison Lohman and Angelina Jolie. Neil Gaiman (MirrorMask, the graphic novel “Sandman”) and Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction) adapted the legend for the screen.
“IMAX 3D has enabled us to tell stories in a whole new way, and we are very excited to offer moviegoers a chance to experience ‘Beowulf’ in this incredible format,” said Robert Zemeckis. “IMAX lends itself to the incredible image detail in ‘Beowulf’ and in 3D, it will transport the audience directly into the story.”
“IMAX has provided the world’s most spectacular 3D presentations for more than two decades, and as we continue to work with world-class organizations like Paramount Pictures, Shangri-La Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures on groundbreaking 3D projects, we’re reinforcing IMAX 3D as the gold standard,” said IMAX Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Richard L. Gelfond and Bradley J. Wechsler. “Audiences loved the last IMAX 3D release we did with Robert Zemeckis, so we’re obviously very optimistic about the potential ‘Beowulf’ holds for the IMAX theatre network.”
“Our partners at Paramount Pictures, Shangri-La Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures have done a fantastic job of combining the 3D-savvy vision of Robert Zemeckis with a great cast, and we believe that moviegoers are going to love it in IMAX theatres,” said Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. “The unique geometry of IMAX theatres will enable audiences to feel as if they are actually in the movie as they experience it in IMAX 3D.”

LOVE ANGELINA:
Nice video (Mighty Hearts)!
I will definitely see any movies done by Angie and any movies done by Brad.
I love and respect both of them.
They will always be in my prayers.
here’s a short one- esp like what brad says about the world moving faster, relying on soundbites & losing context

I don’t understand those other pictures on other links. What are all those dots and contraptions for? I thought Beauwolf was a cartoon/animated movie?
Thanks for new thread anyway JJ. I love to see anything of Jolie-Pitt. Wishing all the fans a happy 4th of July.
Slightly OT:
From Lainey:
In preparation for her publicity tour to promote her one hour special on NBC airing July 16th, Posh has pulled an Angelina, her people insisting that members of the press sign a release agreeing to focus interviews solely on the reality show and not on the Beckham’s personal life.
Rich.
This from a woman who cannot exist without being photographed, who has spent hours practicing for photographs, who wears heels to the amusement park just in case she is photographed, who once walked down the streets of LA looking like this, who is rumoured to pre-arrange photo sightings when she’s especially enamoured of a particular outfit…and now she’s pleading for privacy while pimping a REALITY TV SHOW???
Only Victoria Beckham. Such brazen, bold faced hypocrisy without moving her face.
I love her.
========================================================================
Wanna bet Fox News won’t even report this? And all those excoriating Angelina for “trampling” on freedom of the press will not even mention this at all … heck, it’s probably not even on their radar!
Here’s a few more quotes:
“Angelina is one of the most misunderstood people in the business and I have to confess I had my own misconceptions about what she would be like.
She is one of the most level-headed, bright, decent people I’ve ever met and she is entirely devoted to her son Maddox.” - Brad Pitt
“She’s dear to my heart.” “You never know what she’s going to say.” - Brad Pitt
“She’s a firecracker.” - Brad Pitt
“Angelina Jolie, without a doubt, she’s so beautiful and talented!” - Alysson Hannigan [On Switching Sides]
“I think my feet are my sexiest body part. People I find really sexy include Angelina Jolie, George Clooney and my mum.” - Halle Berry
“I’m absolutely in awe of her. There’s something about her that tells me, ‘That girl’s my vibe,’ you know. It’s just one of those feelings, you know what I mean?” - Fred Durst
“That is truly and literally the woman of my dreams. Whoa! I think about her way too much.” - Fred Durst
“There are two people that I’ve met that almost made me keel over. Angelina Jolie being the first, it was just when her movie Gia came out and I absolutely loved it. It’s my all time favourite movie. A lot of times I forget that I’m an actor and that maybe someone might recognize me from something that I have done. So I went up to her and said, Miss Jolie, I just have to tell you that I am a huge fan of your work and I saw you in Gia, and I started complimenting her work and I got her all teary! Can you believe that? I made Angelina Jolie almost cry! But then the best was when she said that she recognized me from Welcome to The Dollhouse and then she got me all teary! Then she kissed me on the cheek and I almost fainted. The other person that I met that was the coolest was Lauren Bacall. Wow, that was unreal!” - Heather Matarazzo
“She is very sexy. It sounds like an obvious answer, but there is something about her. She’s hot, I’m sorry. And she’s an incredible actress.” - Sarah Michelle Gellar
“If I was forced to go with a woman, it would have to be Madonna or Angelina Jolie. Probably Angelina. We were staying at the same hotel recently and I bumped into her in the lobby. She looked so beautiful and elegant that I wanted to tell her but I was too dumbstruck. There’s something deliciously mischievous about her. It’s something to do with that glint in her eye. I found myself just staring at her but secretly I was hoping she was checking me out.” - Charisma Carpenter
“I love Angelina Jolie’s work. I think she has an amazing ability to get under the skin of characters and do her thing. I would love to work with her and, obviosly, with Halle Berry.” - Colin Farrell
“She’s so ****ing intense!” - Colin Farrell
“She exudes confidence and has a great body to wear our clothes.” - Dolce and Gabbana
“She doesn’t care [what people think]. She’s out to please herself. I love that about her.” - Aaliyah
“…Angelina Jolie is also somebody who has a trick moreover. I do not know if it is her attitude or if it is her bottom which does that, but she is really attractive.” - Janet Jackson
“Oh, Angelina Jolie…just to sit and stare at her, that would be a nice half-hour show.” - Carson Daly
In this time in which celebrities go out of their way to show how ‘normal’ they are, how ‘just like us’, Angelina Jolie makes no pretense of the kind. Her life is writ large, and unabashedly in the public eye. She doesn’t WANT to be like us. As such, we find ourselves wanting to be like HER. Also, in a time when ingenues are rewarded for cuteness and a certain dewy sexlessness, Angelina projects the most modern of sexualities ” carnivorous, omnivorous, and unapologetic. Most Hollywood actresses cast themselves as the girl next door; Angelina Jolie doesn’t look like she’s ever lived next door to ANYONE. - MARK BENNETT [Casting Director for 'Monster's Ball', 'The Woodsman', and 'Alexander']
“She’s courageous, she’s brave, she’s just taking on the world.” - Rosario Dawson
“She is up close in person talk about…you know the camera playing tricks she is I think one of the most beautiful woman I’ll ever see in my life…she’s just stunning.” – Conan O’Brien
“I looked at her and thought, Could you get more beautiful?” - Gerard Butler
“I’d like to challenge Angelina Jolie in a game: I did Resident Evil, she did Lara Croft… I think in Hollywood we’re the only girls who know how to use a joystick.” - Milla Jovovich
“I was afraid of her. She was too beautiful for me. She was too smart for me. She had too much integrity for me. I felt so small next to her.” - Billy Bob Thorton
“If I had to get someone I think Angelina Jolie would be worth it, she is really beautiful. She’s tough, yet sexy at the same time, which not a lot of people can do.” - Christina Aguilera [advising Britney Spears on who she should date]
“Someone who’s like Angelina Jolie because she isn’t scared of not being pretty,” Aguilera said. “She’s my favourtie actress. I’d love a role like the one she played in ‘Girl, Interrupted’, I’ve never met her.. I’d be so nervous! And star struck!” - Christina Aguilera [who she'd like to play her in a movie about her life]
“People find it bizarre and extraordinary that we were together. To me, it’s not. Angelina’s image is of a wild, crazy femme fatale. She’s not. She’s a very nice, very generous person. A big-hearted girl. She just says what she’s feeling. She doesn’t get up to any more mischief than your average person… well, maybe a little bit.” – Jonny Lee Miller
“Angelina is the new Brando. She’s not comparable to any actress.” - Emma Forrest
“I would say at the moment the only person who could have played me this past year would have to be Angelina Jolie.” - Emma Forrest
“Angelina Jolie has been so inspirational to me, with all she’s doing in Cambodia.” - Jessica Simpson [speaking about fundraising for children]
“I am also inspired by what Angelina Jolie is doing by traveling to places like Cambodia to help children by actually being there and being more involved.” - Liv Tyler
“I’ve seen her onsreen and thought, ‘She’s proabbly one of the most beautiful women.’ Then I saw her in the flesh, and she’s even more beautiful.” - Gerard Butler
“She is definitely the most beautiful woman I have ever photographed. I thought that she was completely natural. I didn’t feel she had had anything done to her face at all, it was a natural beauty she had, not a plastic one. It was almost like she was so beautiful, she wasn’t quite human.” - GAULTIER DEBLONDE [Photographer]

Just want to add. I believe the value of a quotation lies in the credibility of the person being quoted. S/he must be objective and not biased pro or against the person or have a personal agenda; etc.etc. Also the context of a quotation must be clear. Quotations can be twisted unfortunately, especially by unscrupulous people in the media. We have seen it being done.

Also quotations are not facts. They contain personal opinions, data or a mixture of both. My apologies for being so meticulous about this but I think it’s important. That’s why I liked the way that Newsweek reporter (Sean Smith?) answered questions about Miss J. He made it clear when he was expressing his personal observations; he was very objective and observant; and he treated all questions with great courtesy and patience.

give us some famous quotes about Brad pitt.
Pitt is ranked 20th in Forbes’ list of powerful celebrities and earns an estimated $20 million a movie.(This was 2006. Brad is now top 5)But he increasingly has gained respect for being more than just a pretty face. To those in the business, his appeal is as obvious as those piercing baby blues.
Bring up Pitt’s name to anyone associated with him, and you hear stories of personal thank-you notes, congratulatory e-mails and a level of thoughtfulness unusual in a star of his caliber.
USA TODAY
He’s in such great spirits. He’s a really smart man who has grown into someone I’m really impressed by all the time. He’s a good friend. And what an amazing dad.”
George Clooney
Angelina Jolie is “more internal and reserved,” while Pitt is “ebullient and open. They’re both very smart, curious, generous people.”
Mr and Mrs Smith writer Simon Kinberg
I met Pitt in July. They rode a bus so Pitt could see Katrina’s devastation himself. Sure, he’s charming, she says, but more important, “he’s just a really smart, good person. He has none of the inflated ego you’d think of when you think of movie stars. He’s straightforward.”
Pam Dashiell, president of New Orleans’ Holy Cross Neighborhood Association
Like anybody who’s worked with him, I’ve become a huge fan. At some point. it’s got to be a burden being the coolest guy on the planet. I mean, we’re all looking to him for guidance. But he wears it so well. I have enormous affection and respect for him. He’s a really good actor. When you look like that, it’s hard to get people to pay attention to what you’re actually doing. He’s fearless. I don’t know anyone else in his position who’s taken the chances he has.
Steven Soderbergh
“He was quite nice - really smart and funny. His kids are adorable and Angelina is beautiful. I have a lot of admiration for her.”
Mary-Louise Parker
“There’s something amazing about him,” Fincher said. “He can say horrible (things) and if he smiles at you, you say, ‘Oh, OK.’
“I trust him. When he says I’ve got to do this this way, you go, ‘OK.’
David Fincher
“Brad’s not just trying to be the big-shot guy that takes all the accolades; he’s giving, he’s adopting, he’s loving. I believe me and him connect on that level.”
Former RUN-DMC star Reverend Run
“Absolute heaven. I got to do one whole day in a Maltese bay, a blissful bay, sitting in one of those director’s chairs with Brad Pitt, who is a charming and thoughtful young man. What could be nicer?”
Julie Christie
“In terms of working with Brad, it’s like chocolate. He’s glorious and wonderful and I really wanted to work with him for a long time
Cate Blanchett
“I’ve seen him with my kids. He’s wanted children since he could speak. He’ll be fine, it’ll be no problem.”
Melissa Etheridge
Brad, you know it doesn’t seem like he needs too much of my advice,” “He’s got it going on.
Will Smith
“I like them very much,” “They’re bright, interested in what’s going on, open to everything, ready to grab everything they can out of life. They’re not wasting a lot of time being movie stars. They’re taking advantage of it to see, listen and learn. Their love affair is obviously not for the benefit of the press; they seem extremely happy and comfortable together.”
LESLIE CARON
“I never knew anyone who looked like Brad Pitt in real life. You see Brad Pitt and you go, ‘Wow, that’s a movie star. That’s what a movie star looks like.’
Zach Braff star of the TV show Scrubs
Brad Pitt is an extraordinary man. He’s this, you know, gigantic movie star but he’s very modest. He just said ‘Is there anything I can do for you?’”
U2’s Bono on Brad offerring to help w/ humanitarian work.
and finally
“Brad and I play husband and wife so there’s some kissing. All I’ll say is Brad’s a great kisser. He knows what he’s doing in that department,”
Angelina Jolie
Here’s some more:
“She is a very beautiful woman and very clued-up.” - George clooney
“It’s sort of like now, having seen Brad and Angelina in a movie together, I just thought they were the most astonishing couple. You go, ‘Oh my God, this is fun to watch.’ It just knocked my socks off. I thought, Whoa! This is so good the way they are together. It’s magic, magic.” - Diane Keaton [Premiere Magazine]
“Angelina is beautiful. I have a lot of admiration for her.” - Mary Louise Parker [People Magazine]
“Angelina Jolie is a good example of someone who really puts her time into bettering the lives of so many children. What I don’t understand is the media’s criticism (of Jolie’s) involvement in humanitarian aide and why they question her motives and sincerity. It’s like, Who cares? She’s doing a good job and putting so much of her time and money in the causes.” - Tea Leoni
“I think she’s an exemplary human being. Kind, incredibly smart, lovely. But my story has nothing to do with her intelligence and everything to do with adventure.” - Elizabeth Mitchell [TV Guide]
“I’m not sure what I expected before I met her, but to say I was impressed would be an understatement. She is smart, funny, self-deprecating, and intensely passionate about her children and her work on behalf of refugees.” - Anderson Cooper
angie :)
Every step Brad and Angie have taken has brought them closer together…I was watching a show the other day and they said that they 3 chances to meet(so i heard)and they never did they even have a picture of them in 2001(i think) they were only one seat away from eachother. These two people were clearly made to be together and after so many years apart they have come together and have 4 beautiful children and they love eachother.

I don’t understand those other pictures on other links. What are all those dots and contraptions for? I thought Beauwolf was a cartoon/animated movie?

Motion capture, Motion Tracking or Mocap, is a technique of digitally recording movements for entertainment, sports and medical applications.
A performer wears markers near each joint to identify the motion by the positions or angles between the markers. These markers, or combinations of any of these, are tracked, optimally at least two times the rate of the desired motion, to submillimeter positions. The motion capture computer software records the positions, angles, velocities, accelerations and impulses, providing an accurate digital representation of the motion
Motion capture saves time and creates more natural movements than manual animation.
Although performance capture has been used in some earlier films and computer games, The Polar Express was the first movie made solely with the process. This film was directed by Robert Zemeckis, who had a long history of technical innovations in film making (historical composites in Forrest Gump and the combination of animation and live action in Who Framed Roger Rabbit) and became a self-professed fan of performance capture (he produced the 2006 thriller Monster House made using the same technique) because of the creative freedom it gives the director. Zemeckis is currently using performance capture in an adaptation of Beowulf scheduled for 2007 release.

I read somewhere that Angelina was considered for Fight Club but the producers went with HB Carter instead.

She’s the BEST there is.
Thank-you for the articles.

OT. Paris Hilton is everywhere on the news, even on my Yahoo front page. Ugh! I hope that Asian American girl, who complained to Sean Smith that the media talk about AJ doing her humanitarian work and not about the aid workers, is happy to see Paris Hilton in the news now instead. ;)
As for Beowulf, it will be my first time to see an IMAX 3D movie. I am excited.

As a long time fan I can say that I will never forget her arriving on the red carpet with that look. I was so disappointed. How dare she rob me of seeing her dressed ultra glam? she probbaly didn’t thik she was gonna win. anyhoo…beowul has some hardcore fans. Wan’t there one with the French actor Christopher Lambert years ago? I used to love Lambert, loved Highlander and those types of films.

RE:VIEW FILM
ANGELINA JOLIE
True to her ‘heart’
By GEORGE HADLEY-GARCIA
Special to The Japan Times
The Japan Times gets close and personal with Hollywood’s hottie-***-humanitarian on making films with a message, being hounded by the media — and life with Brad Pitt.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie live in the constant glare of the media. Below, Jolie as Mariane Pearl in a scene from the film “A Mighty Heart.” AP PHOTO (above); © 2007 PARAMOUNT VANTAGE. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
LOS ANGELES Angelina Jolie can be quite the chatterbox on certain topics — like the need to bridge the gap between the developed and developing worlds, or the challenges faced by women.
“We order a plate of food at a restaurant, and it may be overpriced, but too often the portion’s too big — more than one person needs — encouraging obesity, which is a luxury, but also a negative condition,” she blurts out partway through a long monologue on the issue. “And then we leave half or more of what’s on the plate, to be thrown away, when women and children — people — are starving in so many countries.”
Jolie’s social concerns are genuine, and even her latest films are serious, fact-based works tackling issues of humanitarianism, terrorism’s causes and freedom of the press — one a documentary she directed on the plight of poor people around the globe, the other an account of the 2002 kidnapping and murder of journalist Daniel Pearl by Islamic extremists in Pakistan.
But while critics laud both Jolie’s convincing portrayal of Pearl’s wife, Mariane, and the film, “A Mighty Heart,” its lackluster performance at the box office since it hit U.S. cinemas last month has been taken as a sign that the public is tiring or even turning against Jolie. Of course, slow ticket sales also could be explained by the movie’s grim, less than commercial topic (and the film might have been more wisely released in the fall, to compete with other Oscar contenders — rather than action-oriented summer blockbusters). What is certain, though, is that it is Jolie’s public image as a powerful, liberated feminist “supermom” that provokes the most chatter in the media — and she canceled further interviews shortly after talking to The Japan Times amid accusations of hypocrisy over nondisclosure forms her lawyers asked reporters for U.S. publications to sign.
Jolie grew up close to fame as the daughter of movie star Jon Voight but was raised by her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, after her parents separated in the first year of her life. A former fashion model who was once so insecure about her looks and unhappy with her life that she regularly cut herself, Jolie became a film superstar with the “Tomb Raider” movie series, in which she played action-heroine Lara Croft, and then became a media sensation via her relationship with Brad Pitt. Today she is in the constant gaze of the media, a target of paparazzi wherever she goes, with or without Pitt, with or without her children.
Is the media attention that much more intense — and difficult to handle — since she became half of an overpublicized celebrity pair?
“It really is,” she says wistfully. “It’s about money (for the paparazzi and periodicals). It isn’t even about curiosity.
“I can understand curiosity. You know, how someone looks, or spotting somebody famous, let alone two famous people. I can relate. . . . When I was growing up, I was close to fame, through my father, when he was there, and I’d be curious to see stars — people he knew or worked with.
“When Jane Fonda would show up, I’d always want to see what she looked like. I found her fascinating.”
What was it about Fonda, as opposed to other celebrities around her, that she found so striking?
“Well, being a woman, she looked a certain way — that is, she was beautiful, had a beautiful face and figure. I think my father had a crush on her, too. But it’s always more interesting to see how women look, because we can vary our hair and clothes . . . all a man can pretty much do is a beard,” she says and giggles. “But beyond that, it was Jane’s courage and convictions, her standing up and speaking at a time when she was supposed to just keep quiet and look like a successful actress — that’s what I admired about her then.”
Today, Jolie is herself a noted activist, particularly for children’s rights. She and Pitt have a child of their own, but they are also the adoptive parents of Maddox (from Cambodia), Pax (from Vietnam) and Zahara (from Ethiopia), and she has been going through the legal process of giving them the surname “Jolie-Pitt.”
She has also legally dropped the last name “Voight,” becoming officially Angelina Jolie. Although her father had a role in “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” (2001), father and daughter are estranged, and they have exchanged words in public — harsher on his part; he once said Jolie had “emotional problems.” After she adopted her first child, Maddox, she declared she was severing relations with Voight because she didn’t want her son raised in an argumentative atmosphere. Today, all she will say is: “We don’t choose our parents . . . (but) for parents and children to get along, through their adult lives, they have to choose to mutually respect each other. Otherwise, what kind of healthy relationship can survive old wounds?”
Husbands and wives
Jolie’s adoption of children from underprivileged countries has done much to soften her persona, particularly an image that threatened to make her publicly unpopular: homewrecker. When she and Pitt costarred in the 2005 box-office hit “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” (as paid assassins, a theme that worked well for Jack Nicholson and Kathleen Turner in “Prizzi’s Honor”), he was married to girl-next-door-type actor Jennifer Aniston. Rumor had it that the star of TV’s “Friends” was losing Pitt because he wanted to have children and she didn’t. Then Pitt and Jolie became a romantic item, with Jolie continually denying that they were a couple until she became pregnant by him. She angrily denied breaking up the marriage, explaining that her parents’ union had ended via her father’s philandering and that she would never do that to another woman. But not too many years before, she’d come between actor-director Billy Bob Thornton and his fiancee, Laura Dern, daughter of actors Diane Ladd and Bruce Dean (who costarred in “Coming Home,” the Vietnam-era love story that earned Academy Awards for Fonda and Voight).
Thornton was Jolie’s second husband. She remains good friends with her first, British actor Jonny Lee Miller (they appeared together in the 1995 film “Hackers”). She offers: “That isn’t unusual. It isn’t if you were friends, and we were friends. Not just marrieds. . . . We just married too young. We were meant to stay friends, not get married or stay married.”
She has said she doesn’t wish to marry Pitt and that their relationship is fine as it is. “The people who insist we should marry aren’t into us. They really aren’t. They’re more about trying to get other people to follow their lead, to follow the (marital) tradition.”
Partner tight-lipped
Pitt has famously stated that he doesn’t want to marry (again) until all people who want to get married but aren’t allowed to (especially gay people in the United States) can do so.
At one point. Jolie admits that though she’s not a fan of interviews that specifi- cally advertise one’s latest movie, Brad is even less enthused. “Brad doesn’t like having to explain himself,” Jolie says, adding that he’s somewhat less talkative, and “rather shy, at least with the press. I was shy myself, growing up skinny, and wearing glasses and all that, but when you have a famous parent, absent or not, you’re sort of under a microscope. So sooner or later you realize that being shy — in our culture — is a drawback. Plus it is a part of maturing as a female, to go from shy girl to being a woman who’ll speak her mind.”
At which point Jolie is asked if she’d like to win an Oscar for Best Actress (she has a Best Supporting Actress award for “Girl, Interrupted”)
She answers immediately, “Sure. My father has one. I’d like one too.”
If Angelina was not respected she would not be getting to work with these amazing directors and actors. It’s not all about box office. Of course people like her. The key is that she has never been mean to anyone. That helps a lot. The fact that she has a detached relationship with Hollywood helps too. She moved away from Hollywood for a few years but still kept a toe in the industry doing roles she wanted to do.
That poster does look Tomb Raider like. I think it’s the long French braid. This role is part of an ensemble, not a leading role at all.
One method of going her own way and expressing herself is her recent directorial bow with the documentary “A Place in Time,” shot in 2005 and released this year by the National Education Association. The film takes a look at the daily lives of people in more than two dozen countries around the world during the course of a week. Why did she do it?
“Because not everyone gets the chance to see how other people in other nations live,” she says, shifting gear and launching into an impassioned speech. “TV doesn’t really show that, because it won’t get high ratings . . . and the news is about very, very short segments, usually focusing on a trouble spot.
“Many of the people I’m interested in live in troubled areas, but the major trouble for most people in the world — and most of the world is the developing world — is poverty. Getting enough to eat . . . and so many other daily problems, things that we (in the modern world) take for granted . . .
“Another enormous problem is the lack of rights for women, the very women who raise these children. . . . There’s also the problem of so-called foreign aid, which too often lands and stays in the pockets of the men in charge.”
Jolie then adds her own edge to an old maxim: “When a man is taught how to fish, one person learns how to fish. But when a woman learns how to fish, so do her children.”
Although “A Place in Time” has received publicity due to her being its director — and has won high praise from critics — it won’t be seen by a fraction of the audience that may attend her latest movie, the studio release “A Mighty Heart.”
Directed documentary-style by Michael Winterbottom, the Briton who has also helmed two other fact-based films about Middle Eastern politics — “In This World” and “The Road to Guantanamo” — the film was coproduced by Pitt for his company Plan B Entertainment and was inspired by widow Mariane Pearl’s memoir “A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl.” Costarring actor-writer Dan Futterman (who penned the screenplay for “Capote”), it opens with Pearl, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, leaving the couple’s home in Karachi and catching a cab to meet a source about a story on shoe-bomber Richard Reid. Pearl does not return, and the film follows his wife’s efforts to find him.
Mariane was six-months pregnant when the couple’s nightmare began, but her book has been praised for not spreading the sort of cultural antagonism and religious fanaticism that Muslim terrorists specialize in.
Jolie greatly admires Pearl’s wife, who moved to Paris after the tragedy, and says that as a woman she connected “instantly to Mariane’s story” and to her being able to survive the horrific ordeal with hope and with loving memories. “The story is so wrenching. It’s so totally dramatic. You’re drawn into it at first from the point of view of a thriller: What happens next? But it’s about much more than that.
“I cherish stories that go beyond one place or time, stories that are universal and have a lesson to teach us.”
Hollywood’s usual position is that messages belong in telegrams. So how does Jolie balance what she prefers to portray, as an actress and director, with what will keep her a box-office movie star?
She sighs for the first time. “That can be a dilemma. (Pause.) The first dilemma is spending time with our children. I work because that’s what I do, not because I have to do it. I don’t feel a need to do two or three movies a year just to stay in the public’s view. I’m also doing pictures that I think will be commercial and that Hollywood thinks will be commercial. But I don’t always do the obvious thing.
“Some (films) I have to do. I’m compelled to . . . like ‘A Mighty Heart.’ I had to do it, and Brad loved the script and the whole story and what it led to. It’s about doing what you believe in.” Jolie hopes the movie is successful so “it can show the studios that many audiences worldwide do care about more than escapism or exploding automobiles. . . . I’d like to see more movies that focus on women, about how women can lead the way out of misfortune and even turn tragedy into . . . a spiritual triumph.”
“We’ve had enough movies that divide the country or the world into good guys and bad guys. We need more which reflect the world as it is,” she emphasizes. “And we need more pictures showing us how to survive and how to live with dignity and serenity, not more pictures showing everyone killing or fighting or exploding anybody they hate.”
What about having more children, biologically or by adoption?
She pauses. “Somewhere I read that the heart is a house with many rooms. There’s room in my heart for more children. But right now? I don’t want to go into that right now — say yes or no. And it is a busy time.”
Jolie has said she plans to take a break from acting in 2008. Does she worry that her star-status might diminish if she’s off-screen for too long?
“Of course not!” She sounds, perhaps justifiably, annoyed. “Julia (Roberts) took time off with her twins. And (she laughs) I hardly think, for better or for worse, that I’m going to fade out of the public eye in the near future.”
“A Mighty Heart” is due to open in cinemas in Japan in December.

Can she get anymore beautiful…….. sigh! When you think she is the ultimate georgeousness… then she suprise you and does something that upped whatever expectation and beauty standard. That was exactly how I felt when I saw pictures of her in Pakistan ( back in 2005?) helping the earthquake victims in dead of winter…my God! the woman just blew me away. She had no make up , looked a bit sad and that compasion of hers shinning thru those amazing eyes and I thought to myself, ” My God that is the most beautiful woman on the face of the earth!!!”. That’s what I love about Angie which I think ‘the others’ could never understand and never took away and will never be able to have with their x.
Angie is not only living the way she is unappologeticly she makes other people (fans, friends , her family) feel so good about her.
She has something which is really hard to describe to other who refuse to see it or who are just in denial…. She has Class, Beauty, Compassion, Love, Strength and all roled up into someone who is sometime a little bit unpredictable and so unpretentious and can be a little bit crazy(though she has calm down so much in recent years… being mommy will do that to you)….and ooohh sooo Desirable…. And that is just too much for one single person to be blessed with soo much, which is why the FF hags are soo hateful of her, a bit unfair no for one person to be so blessed and soo many to be soo left out.
But for me, I she is perfect!

Actually what that interviewer of The Japanese Time is doing is what most media have been doing lately. They see the end of Jolie in the public sphere and actually have the gut to ask her about it as though this acting and being in a public sphere is SO SO DEAL to her when in reality - it is No.3 on her *most important things in life*. Yes, she works but work is NOT that which gives her the MOST JOY. No.1 is her kids and No.2 is her activism.
Over the last 6 years, acting has taken a backseat. Not only is it No.3…after ker kids and activism but it really is now just a means to an end. The end being to fund her charity work and projects.
Having said that, I think she has no problem with taking a year off from acting next year. It means that she get to do her most favourite things - No.1(spend time with her kids) and No.2(work related to The Foreign Council of Relations).
Let face it, if the going get tough…this woman would not bat an eye the day that she retires from HW. Why? Because she has other interests in her life that are just as meaningful and fulfilling. Probably even MORE FULFILLING than ACTING - i.e. No.1(kids) and No.2(activism).
___________
The good thing out of that article is we get confirmation that Brad Pitt hates to explain himself. So, any of you Jolie fans who are mad at him for not speaking up about Angelina - guess what, Jolie just told you all - “he hates to explain himself to the public”. And in my opinion, it is his perogative to do that and it certainly doesn’t merit criticism or questioning his love of Jolie etc etc.
__________
Seeing her talk about how she thinks there is a time and place on the big screen for movies about women around the world -their experiences, loss and struggles means that we are going to see her taking on similar projects like the AMH in the future. The subject matter means something to her and she does not believe it is always about the BO.
I prefer the article written by the guy from the Philippines. He let Angelina’s answers be the story rather than adding stuff. Most certainly a cut and paste job.

*******************************
The interview didn’t “flow”. It was choppy. Maybe it was the traslation.
All the labels tied to her made it distracting. Actress/mother/humanitarian is enough.
Also her saying she wanted one too (another Oscar) doesn’t sound like her AT ALL. It doesn’t go with what she waid earlier in the interview about doing roles that she wanted no matter what. No bigggie. It’s just another article out of thousands. Some are good and some are bad. The repoter is reponsible for 80 percent of an interview. The right questions are key.
sorry…should have been SO SO DEAR to her:

Brad And Angie can leave hollywood but hollywood will never leave them. No matter where they go they will still have cameras falling them everywhere. I feel bad that there children will be constanly judged in the public eye. Wish them best of luck and hopefully in the upcoming years they will be less in the public eye.
hey guys. i saw fight club today. great movie :) any of u know whether brad pitt was dating jennifer aniston then? i’m asking this b/c i read that angelina jolie was supposed to play anne boham’s role but she turned it down. what if she hasn’t turned it down? do u think there could’ve been a chance for brad and angelina to date each other after shooting fight club? that is if he wasn’t already in a serious relationship with aniston. and do u think their relationship would’ve as harmonious and beautiful as now? who knows? maybe getting married? thnk u for ur insight :)
To me it seems like she was a little bitter about all of the media focus on her and her family. The parts about it being all about money and how she says she doubts she’ll fade away in the near future… gives me the feeling that she’s tired of it but she knows it won’t be going away.
she’s still in the tabloids every week and she’s not even doing anything scandalous.
Expect a lot of interviews from foreign newspapers that are a hodge podge of old stuff already said/part of the PR blitz in New York as AMH is released in these places. One of the things that happens for most films is during the premiere weekend the actors/actresses get a bunch of journalists in one room and they get to ask questions for their articles. Depending on the interpretation of that journalist the final product is always a little different…hence the Japan article. A few of the things said are a bit off as some of the stuff is ‘lost in translation’. Nothing there is a surprise though.
P.S. Though Brad is on the invite list, I don’t think he will actually be in Vegas for the poker tournament. I guess we’ll see.

Brad will still be working as a producer. But they will have to promote their films they did this year. They may not be filming but they have obligations to promote. It will be like they never left.
Speaking of the Oscar…
If we are to go by the Japanese Time writer, is this the same woman who put her oscar in a shoe box and gave it to her mother 7-8 yrs old…is suddenly hungry for an oscar! The real Oscar is in a shoe box.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Wanted and Kung Fu Panda will all be out in 2008.
For the love of Brad when will The Assasination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford be released?
somebody mentioned 3 chances Brad & Angie could have met. one is Fight Club. what are the other two?
I’ll be bitter if paps take my pics and they end up in tabloids with lies.

RE:VIEW FILM
ANGELINA JOLIE
True to her ‘heart’
By GEORGE HADLEY-GARCIA
Special to The Japan Times
But while critics laud both Jolie’s convincing portrayal of Pearl’s wife, Mariane, and the film, “A Mighty Heart,” its lackluster performance at the box office since it hit U.S. cinemas last month has been taken as a sign that the public is tiring or even turning against Jolie. Of course, slow ticket sales also could be explained by the movie’s grim, less than commercial topic (and the film might have been more wisely released in the fall, to compete with other Oscar contenders — rather than action-oriented summer blockbusters).
What bothers me about this article is that he had to make the negative statement the first one. Why not say that slow ticket sales could be explained by the grim, etc, etc. No get the negative dig in first. This way the reader remembers the negative, and consideres the more accurate second statement as an excuse or alibi. He is a weasel like most of the other people who are intimidated by her.

———————————————————————
Perhaps she is a bit bitter and I certainly can understand if she felt that way. At the same time, the trade off she’s acknowledged appears to make it bearable and pull her through. Her union with Brad certainly has made her life that much more visible but if it hadn’t happened much of what she looks at as her family would be very very different. Unfortunately, everything good generally comes with an equally annoying circumstance.
As per the tabloids, a few are still spinning the triangle BUT it is not nearly as bad as it was. Now it’s really just the low rung publications still spouting nonsense (L&S, Star, and some times In Touch). The more time they are together, the more ‘boring’ they become, and the less they are mentioned in ridiculous flights of fancy. The reality is they will always have some presence in the media just by virtue of who they are. That won’t change regardless of if she in Brad broke up tomorrow. They’ll always be connected no matter what because of their children.
Brad worked at some chicken place in L.A. and Angie could and even may have passed right by him and the other is at an awards shoe (the oscars)
she was with BBT at the time and him with JA but the sat in front of eachother with clear view but in different tables…Almost forgot at an afterparty the the same awards show on the red carpet.
My problem was not that she did not discuss Brad or her family much, but some of her alleged comments did not sound like her. Some of them seemed off. I enjoy those Philipinne interviews best from these group interview she does.

Well we will have to wait for other articles to come out to see if it conveys the same feeling. But the Philippines article had none of that.

They can do most of the promotional interviews from their home and only come out(to Hollywood or NY) for the premiere. Brad rarely does TV so for this big budget movie he might have do Conan or Leo but that can also be put off until premiere week. Same with Angelia. So if they can move somewhere that it would not be benefical for the paps to move(like Julia Roberts did ) than they would only have to deal with cameras in their face for six or seven weeks out of year. But I’m sure Angelina and Brad will still do their foundation work .

If they met at that time, I don’t think Brad like Angie because Angie was a kind of crazy, dark at that time. I heard that Brad was attracted to Angie is because of her devotion to Maddox and her UN work.
They met at MMS movie is the right time and right place.
“I cherish stories that go beyond one place or time, stories that are universal and have a lesson to teach us.” Hollywood’s usual position is that messages belong in telegrams.
She’s laying the truth out there, she does not have to work, family comes first, Brad supports her and is OK with her choices.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“Some (films) I have to do. I’m compelled to . . . like ‘A Mighty Heart.’ I had to do it, and Brad loved the script and the whole story and what it led to. It’s about doing what you believe in.”
Angelina and Brad jointly decided to film AMH. She knows and values what he cares about.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Partner tight-lipped
“At one point. Jolie admits that though she’s not a fan of interviews that specifically advertise one’s latest movie, Brad is even less enthused. “Brad doesn’t like having to explain himself,” Jolie says, adding that he’s somewhat less talkative, and “rather shy, at least with the press.”
Angelina sees Brad the man, not Brad the movie star. She knows him well and accurately described him. This is exactly what his long time fans have been saying about him, and echos what he said in his Interview mag article this year about growing up in a house where silence was the rule, and actions speak instead of words.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“What about having more children, biologically or by adoption?
She pauses. Somewhere I read that the heart is a house with many rooms. There’s room in my heart for more children. But right now? I don’t want to go into that right now — say yes or no. And it is a busy time.”
Angelina is separating her private life from her public life. They will provide private life information such as more children when they are ready to do so and not before. Actually saying none of anybody’s business but ours.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“Jolie has said she plans to take a break from acting in 2008. Does she worry that her star-status might diminish if she’s off-screen for too long? Of course not! She sounds, perhaps justifiably, annoyed. Julia (Roberts) took time off with her twins. And (she laughs) I hardly think, for better or for worse, that I’m going to fade out of the public eye in the near future.”
Interesting that she would use JR’s almost 2 years time off with twins to illustrate her point isn’t it? Methinks she might protest too much.

And what makes you think that Angie would have been interested in Brad at that time? After all he was very shallow and into being the perfect golden couple!
They both had to make some changes in their lives to become the people they are today.
Maria - I think so because I don’t see him slated to shoot a film in 2008. All I see is a man who tucked in a movie(The State of the Play) in August 2007 when he could have done otherwise. Maybe I am wrong.
Who knows..maybe he is going to go full-time producer next year.
We shall see them doing promotions for their movies, conference meetings like the one in Montreal, Canada but other than those two, I think they will get away from the public eye much like how they are whenever they go back to LA.
Hi all,
I finally saw AMH…went with my a cousin and two girl friends. I didn’t have to twist their arms or anything, they saw the preview and they were interested. Now about the movie…All i can say is WOW! I now understand what the critics meant when the say AJ disappears. To be quite honest, I was worried about that….would I see MP or the AJ I see almost every day on JJ, I asked myself and I can safely say all I saw was MP. My friend kept on saying “This is real, this really happened” and I totally understood what she meant. It’s one thing to know on an abstract level that MP went throught that, it’s quite another to see on big screen and then to know that what we saw on screen is probably a fraction of what MP went through. That scream (if you want to call it that) was profound, not civilised at all and I think that’s when a couple of us started bawling. (My Cousin was already sniffing about half way through the movie)
There’s no denying AJ did an AMAZING job but we’d be remiss if we don’t acknowledge the supporting casts….they pulled it off so well, it was unbelievable. Oh and can i just say I am completely and totally in love with Michael Winterbottom. I just think he is brilliant!!
PT I understand what you mean when you said it was rushed…like there was something missing. I like think it’s another way MW tried to keep it as real as possible, you know how in real life, things happen so fast, so unexpectedly, that before you can wrap you head around what’s happening…it’s over.
All in all, it was a movie well done! Two Thumbs way up :)

Lesbian and bisexual are not the same thing. Bisexual means she can be with BOTH men and women. This GAY guy needs some classes.
I hope Brad take a year off with his family too, that will be very nice specially if they will go somewhere out of the US away from the paparazzis. (Then we will be hungry for more news & pictures.) Even if Brad will not take a year off at least we know Angelina will be with him wherever he is, since she will not be busy in any projects, it is much easier to follow Brad with the 4 kids in tow. As a family man, maybe, Brad prefers Angelina not to work at all & just be a plain wife. I hope to see new pictures & news about the Brangelina family tomorrow.

I remeber when Angie won her Oscar. She made a positive impression on me. I remember how she dressed. Her style that night was daring and somewhat playful. She came across as beautiful, fun loving, and bold. When she won she was very excited and happy - her enthiusiam reflected her youth. I thought it was all very charming. But then the media re-wrote history and made her happy, special night into something ulgy. Despite the media trying to put her in a box - Angie’s talent, heart, charisma, courage, beauty and love cannot be denied. Some will always try to bring her down, but Angie always transcends the negativity.

I meant to add - some in the media are trying to say A Mighty Heart failed at the BO and that the public is turning against her. Nothing could be further from the truth. A Mighty Heart did very well for an R rated, indie movie with such a serious subject matter. So don’t believe the negativity - even if it is printed.
Angelina had a high profile relationshhip with that woman who shall be nameless. It’s that person who has betrayed her the most even more than her dad. So while she has gone to the press and wondered why her relationship to her was considered such a big deal (Inside the Actor’s Studio) she’s never claimed to be a lesbian. The date of that article is April? rubyrose really had to dig to find that one.

Hollywood’s Big Summer Turns Ho-Hum
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Summertime in Hollywood is not as hot as it looked at the beginning.
While the three May blockbusters—Sony’s “Spider-Man 3,” DreamWorks Animation’s “Shrek the Third” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”—have combined for nearly $1 billion in domestic revenue, overall business and movie attendance are well below the record pace many show business types had expected.
In fact, attendance is running behind last summer’s and has even fallen below that of summer 2005, a year of box-office duds that had some analysts predicting audiences were abandoning movie houses in favor of home theaters and other entertainment options.
With studios offering a stronger late-season lineup than normal this year, attendance likely will pick up and lift Hollywood to a respectable summer. Still, early forecasts that Hollywood would have its first $4 billion summer now look like wishful thinking.
Through last Sunday, the industry had pulled in $1.9 billion since the first weekend in May, according to box-office tracker Media By Numbers. About half of that came from the third “Spider-Man,” “Shrek” and “Pirates” flicks.
“You can’t have a summer’s fortunes riding on the backs of three films. I looked at these three films in May and said, `Oh, record summer,’ like everyone else did,” said Paul Dergarabedian, Media By Numbers president. “Three or four big movies does not make for a record summer. You have to have a solid bullpen or backfield to support the weight of those big blockbusters to build up the overall box office.”
Modern Hollywood’s best summer for revenues came in 2004, when the industry took in $3.95 billion domestically for the entire season. Based on admission prices, which rise every year, the best summer for actual movie attendance was 2002, with 653 million tickets sold.
The industry is well behind both those records this summer. Through Sunday, 279 million tickets had been sold, compared with 315 million in 2002, according to Media By Numbers. This summer’s $1.9 billion in revenue is also shy of the record pace in 2004, when receipts were at $2.04 billion at this point.
While revenues this season are ahead of the $1.8 billion pace during the snoozy summer of 2005, attendance is down 4 million.
The slow summer has not been for lack of hits. Along with the big- three blockbusters, Universal’s comedy “Knocked Up,” the Warner Bros. casino caper “Ocean’s Thirteen” and 20th Century Fox’s superhero saga “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” all have topped $100 million.
Disney’s animated “Ratatouille” and Fox’s action tale “Live Free or Die Hard” both got off to solid starts this past weekend.
And while there have been some underachievers such as Universal’s comedy “Evan Almighty,” Sony’s animated “Surf’s Up” and the Warner Bros. mystery “Nancy Drew,” Hollywood has yet to deliver an outright bomb this summer.
Part of the shortfall results from overly high expectations for sequels, none of which so far have approached the returns of their franchises’ highest-grossing predecessors.
“Spider-Man 3,” “Shrek the Third” and “At World’s End” all will finish above $300 million but well below the $400 million-plus domestic gross of the best of their earlier installments.
To pessimists, that creates the two-sided perception of a $300 million blockbuster also being something of a disappointment.
“When we start snubbing our noses at $300 million, that’s a problem,” said Chuck Viane, head of distribution at Disney.
Overseas, big Hollywood franchises are more than making up for lower grosses at home. “Spider-Man 3″ is Sony’s biggest hit ever with nearly $900 million worldwide. “At World’s End” has climbed beyond $900 million globally and will finish as No. 2 on Disney’s all-time hit list, behind the $1.05 billion haul of last year’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.”
“Shrek the Third” has rolled out more slowly overseas but is edging toward $600 million worldwide, with plenty of life left outside the United States.
Studio cheerleaders say there’s also plenty of life left in the summer, starting with Paramount’s newly released sci-fi epic “Transformers.”
Still to come are the sequels “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “Rush Hour 3,” the Adam Sandler comedy “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,” the big-screen cartoon “The Simpsons Movie” and the musical “Hairspray.”
That leaves Hollywood with at least one big new movie every weekend through mid-August, a time when theater business normally is petering out for the summer.
“I’m not trying to be Pollyannish, but I think the second beginning of summer is right around the corner,” said Viane from Disney, which closes out its summer with the live-action and computer-animation adventure “Underdog” in August. “There’s so many good movies coming. You’ve got to let summer run its course. We may just have loaded all the stuff the public wants in the back end.”
After the record-breaking debut of “Spider-Man 3,” which pulled in $151.1 million in its first three days, a record summer looked inevitable. “Shrek the Third” and “At World’s End” followed with $100 million-plus opening weekends.
The industry and audiences nowadays are preoccupied with first weekends, when theaters are packed to the rafters for big releases. But few movies stick around in subsequent weeks the way they once did.
“We’re all focused on the biggest opening you can get on these films. If you don’t have a $100 million opening, there’s a lot of negativity, which shouldn’t really be,” said Nikki Rocco, head of distribution at Universal.
The studio delivered this summer’s exception with “Knocked Up,” which opened with a modest $30.7 million weekend but hung on through good audience buzz to reach $122 million and climbing.
With analysts and studio executives expecting a strong finish to summer 2007, the season still could go down as one of modern Hollywood’s best.
“I was one of the people who figured on this being a record-breaking summer, no doubt about it,” said Rory Bruer, head of distribution for Sony. “I’m a little surprised, but I do think that it’s still going to be. Maybe not in the exact formula we thought. It’s still going to be up. Just maybe not as up as most thought.”

Gay singer BETH DITTO has hit out at actress ANGELINA JOLIE’s claims she’s bisexual, insisting she wouldn’t be dating BRAD PITT if she was.
The Girl, Interrupted star frequently speaks out about her lust for other women - but the Gossip frontwoman suspects her comments are lies.
Ditto says, “If she were actually a lesbian she’d be with a woman.”
——–
I kind of like Beth Ditto but that was a dumb comment. Angelina never claimed to be a lesbian in the first place.
Strange.
2008 movies
Angelina
Wanted (out in March 2008); Kung Fu Panda, Changeling (filming in October 2007)
Brad
BB (out in November 2008); Burn After Reading (filming in August/September 2007); State of Play (filming in November/December 2007/January (2008)
Both Brad and Angelina will have three films out next year. I think they both plan to dial back on their public lives in 2008 and concentrate mostly on their family life. Angelina can work on her humanitarian causes, and Brad can do Plan B work. Brad spoke to People about how happy they were in NOLA, but I doubt that they would be as happy there anymore. Sadly, the paps now know exactly where they live in NOLA.
Again, I just LOL at you folks who think Jolie is bitter at Brad not explaining himself and/or defending her.
HELLO…is any one still there?..wake up!…This is Angelina Jolie. The woman who does not need a man to speak for her. She speaks when she wants to and on her own term.
Jolie is not a fragile woman who goes back to Brad and says - waaahh waahh…Brad do something NOW. Look look at them. They are saying bad things about me. THAT is Jennifer Aniston.(Sorry, folks for saying her name but really…)
I guess - Bored - what I am trying to say here is, to be bitter because Brad is not saying something is antithesis to everything Jolie.

Shut up with the “bitter” comments. Angelina’s has done lots of interviews in the last two months and none have showed this feeling. Thus why use this one to describe her feelings.

Angie had a brief relationship with that woman, can’t remember her name. But they broke up, and as far as I have read she has been with a man ever since. So what does that make her, experimental? Searching for love and acceptance. Everyone literally wants a piece of this woman for their own agenda. Peace.
LOS ANGELES, California, USA - Will she and Brad Pitt continue adopting until they have, say, 10 or 15 kids?
“We love having children,” Angelina Jolie said. One of the world’s most famous mothers is one of the most admired as well. Today we continue running excerpts from a recent press con with Angelina where she gamely answered all the questions.
The actress stars in “A Mighty Heart,” based on Mariane Pearl’s memoir, “A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl.” She plays Mariane to Dan Futterman’s Daniel Pearl, the South Asia Bureau chief of the Wall Street Journal who was researching a story on shoe bomber Richard Reid in Karachi when he disappeared and was eventually murdered. Michael Winterbottom directed the film.
As we mentioned on Friday, Angelina calls their son Maddox by the nickname, Madd. The other kids are Pax, Zahara and Shiloh.
Tell us about Mariane.
She is the reason I wanted to do this movie. When this happened many years ago, I remember watching the news, seeing her, being struck by her strength. As much as I think I’m a tolerant, understanding person, I couldn’t understand how someone could, after what happened, talk about love, tolerance, dialogue and other people’s suffering. How could someone become centered so quickly and see the bigger picture? When I met her and got to spend some time with her, I found her to be an extraordinary woman. She handles everything with an immense amount of grace and dignity. She’s had a full life.
Mariane is just so full of love. I think that’s what their (the Pearls’) relationship symbolizes’ two people so open to other cultures. They knew the dangers of becoming blind with hate. She rose above it. She has an amazing sense of humor as well. She’s nutty, a great mom and woman.
Your pregnancy with Shiloh must have helped you portray Mariane, who was pregnant at the time the story took place.
I had just been through pregnancy. So I was highly aware of how beautiful that time should be for a woman, for the father and mother of the child. I remember so clearly now the moment of giving birth to my daughter and looking at Brad, the love in that room, the hope for the future. To really understand how much was taken away (Daniel’s death), it was very haunting. To suffer as much as she did and then to have no self-pity, that is extraordinary.
I have become more tolerant, more open, by learning about her. The greatest thing that happened to me during this film is that I met a great friend. It was very bizarre that I met Mariane through playing her. She has a beautiful family and a great little boy. I feel blessed to know them as friends.
A couple of scenes showed you portraying Mariane chanting prayers as a refuge from her ordeal. Did you have conversations about Buddhism?
She has a beautiful shrine that I believe Danny built for her before he passed. I think her Buddhism was one of the reasons that she was able to think about the world around her and not focus on herself, on her own pain. It’s probably one of the great things that helped her. It’s also one of the things we realized we had in common, I am not a practicing Buddhist but I have a great interest and respect for Buddhism. I’m teaching my sons about it, about all religions, but especially what’s relevant to their countries. With Madd, we visit monks when we’re in Cambodia. It is something that Mariane and I talked about. I asked her questions for Madd, about shrines and meditating. I’ve learned to meditate and it’s very helpful. It helps center me. Maybe in the future, especially with my kids, it might be nice to learn to really think outside yourself and look at the entire picture.
Have you showed the film to Danny’s parents?
Yes, we were with the parents during a screening at the Museum of Tolerance. Throughout the making of this film, everybody involved kept saying, ‘If it doesn’t come together right, we’re not going to do it.’ Like if the right director doesn’t come … we didn’t believe it would actually come together right. We sat down with Danny’s parents. Dan Futterman went out to spend some time with them. We all carefully walked through this process, never saying something that was against the values that they felt their son represented.
Last night, we had a beautiful time with them at the Museum for the Danny Pearl Foundation. I am very grateful for their friendship, for their openness, for allowing us to have this experience. We wanted to stand together to present the film. There is no critic more important than Mariane and Danny’s parents.
When you put on that wig for this movie, did you feel like a different person?
Michael (Winterbottom) shoots so freely so he said no wigs, no contacts, nothing. I said, but I have to try (a wig) and he said no. He gave me one afternoon to prove to him that I wouldn’t look crazy. We were all terrified but when I put it on, it felt very strange … but it worked. I saw Madd and I thought I’d scare him. I said, ‘Hi,’ and he said, ‘Hi, mom (laughter).’
The scene where you gave birth was powerful. Tell us what the set was like.
Doing the birth scene was kind of funny because (when I gave birth to Shiloh), I had a C-section so I didn’t scream at all. Michael, the director, had to actually try to explain to me because he was with his wife when she had children. It was very funny to have a bunch of men around me explaining how a woman is in labor. We were in a hospital in India, on a floor where people weren’t having children. It wasn’t a baby floor so everybody was quiet in this real hospital. Suddenly I had to scream at the top of my lungs and (laughter) all these men were screaming to show me how to scream. We were all screaming back and forth at each other. It was really bizarre (laughter).
Mariane seems to be the silent, strong type. Are you, too?
People have often said to me about myself or the roles that I play, that I’m strong. I’m often surprised that people don’t see me as an emotional person. Maybe they do more now. But for a long time, they thought I was tough or lacked emotion.
You travel all over the world for your humanitarian efforts. Can you talk about this?
I really love other parts of the world (laughing). It is one of the greatest gifts that we have today, that we’re able to learn one another’s languages and histories. So much is accessible to us now because of the ease of traveling. I go all around the world and spend time with people who are working hard every day and are very connected to their history that’s helpful to my soul.
You’ve once said that you’d rather be remembered as a humanitarian rather than as an actor.
I love being an actor. I love being creative. My mom was an artist; my dad and brother are artists. I love being able to tell a good story and entertain. [But] at the end of the day, when I die, [I'd wonder] what contributions I have made? If I’ve entertained, that’s wonderful. But if I have actually been a part of saving a life or changing a law that’s going to affect people in the future, their rights, children and countries, then clearly, that’s more significant.
You’re a global citizen. Do you foresee a future where more borders will disappear?
I do see myself as a citizen of the world. At the same time, I feel a certain sadness. There are so many languages that are disappearing. There are so many cultures that are becoming like other cultures. As much as I like that we can all be connected and share, it’s sad when people lose who they originally are, when their culture is destroyed. We have a mixed-race family. But at the same time, my boys are very aware that they’re Asian. They are learning their languages. My daughter is African. She knows it, I like that people are different. I think people should be prouder of who they are and not feel that they need to adjust and blend together.
Right now, your kids are little so you can bring them along wherever you go. How about when they start going to school? How will you protect them from the pitfalls of growing up with celebrity parents?
We are never going to stop traveling. I think the greatest education I can give my kids, especially because they are international children, is to keep them traveling. They can spend six months in Africa and then they come back to LA for a few months. Then they spend a few months in Asia or they go to live in Prague where they’re going to school now. On the first morning they went to school there, they were fine and it wasn’t unusual. When we’re in Africa, they go to a local school with the bush kids. They’re fine.
I think that just by showing them the world, understanding, tolerance and the beauty of different cultures, they’re not getting stuck in this town. Because their parents are actors, I am cautious about raising them too much in the States where other kids would say, ‘I saw your parents’ movie.’
Madd is in the Lycee Francais which has branches around the world. The other kids are in International School so we can travel and they’re on the same program.
So home is where the parents are.
Yes, home is where your family is. I’m sure at some point this will be their rebellion: They will just want to live in the suburbs and never travel (laughter).
Where does your empathy for the less fortunate come from?
Both my parents were very focused on aid and charity in their lives. I saw the joy my mom had in doing things for others. It was never like something she had to do. She had real joy.
Can you talk about the impact of the constant media glare on you and your family?
The reason we don’t talk too much about it is because the more you focus on it, the more it becomes something in your life. A lot of times, our life is quiet, well, never quiet (laughter) but normal.
The only time [media scrutiny] affects us is if you’re driving in the car with your kids and they say, “Mom, can I go to the park?” You’ve got time and you want to go but you’re followed by a few cars. You just have to say no.
You just celebrated your birthday. On your kids’ birthdays, do you talk to them about how you first met or saw them?
I talk to them about that usually on their birthdays. But we talk often about how we all came together. Madd and I always talk about the fateful day we met. I have yet to talk to Shiloh about it because she doesn’t understand me at the moment (laughter). My mom always did that, too. She called me on the hour, the moment I was born to say this was when you were born.
There’s a rumor going around in Europe that you will adopt another baby, and this time in the Czech Republic. How do you think the rumors started?
Because I adopt and I travel, people usually assume, they either say Brad’s buying a house wherever he goes and I’m adopting a child wherever I go (laughter).
Do you see yourself with 10, 15 kids?
We love having children. There are certain kids we want to help through school. There are kids in our periphery we’re involved with. In our home, it is all about how much we balance, making sure everybody has individual time. Right now, all four of them have daily, very special individual time. If they get old enough and if it starts to feel like we can fit more, that’s how and when we are going to gauge how many more we can have.
Do you cook?
No. Brad would tell you I am one of the worst cooks in the world.
You now have an image as a humanitarian. But we remember when you won a Golden Globe and you jumped into the pool at the Beverly Hilton.
I blame all of you for that (laughter) because I was excited.
Is that wild Angelina gone?
I jumped into the pool because somebody dared me to. It’s wonderful to have an award ceremony about your work. We can have a joyous evening and jump into a pool and laugh because that’s what it can be. We don’t have to keep our dresses perfectly clean. We should enjoy, be happy and free. It wasn’t anything punk, it was true happiness and fun so hopefully, I still have that. I’ll jump into many pools in the future.
Beth Ditto is this funky ‘large size’ singer who is great friends with Cokate Moss. My take on the comments by beth is ‘ She has a great large size crush on Angie’ and was understandnable broken when Angie has shown no signs of even acknowledging the crush.
Beth makes a living by being vulgar and rude , part of her performance is to change her undergarments on stage and flashes herself to her fans and do all sorts of things to get fame and Ink. I do believe that this comment was also an attention and Ink whoring on her part

Go down to the Golden Globes 2007 videos and watch the 3nd one.Toward the end of the video ”they are talking about ocean films and she says to Brad in the interview ”you could get Angelina to star in a ocean film and Brad says ”SHE TO GOOD TO STAR IN OCEAN FILMs”it little remarks like that show how he cares about Angelina.
So blockbuster helmer Michael Bay is very, very angry at two of the producers of his latest Transformers, Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto. How do I know this? Because Bay wrote an extraordinary screed about them on his blog last Friday. And then he removed the posting shortly after. But an eagle-eyed source forwarded it to me, and I’ve confirmed it’s the genuine article. This is one of the most nakedly honest insights into a director’s personality that I’ve ever come across. As well as a reminder that success in Hollywood has many fathers, but failure is an orphan. How much you wanna bet, now that Transformers has made $36 mil in 36 days, all is forgiven?:
LET’S GET SOME FACTS STRAIGHT
06/29/2007 11:20 PM
The movie is over.
Wow that was a hard one, but I must tell you it was so much fun. The most difficult actors I’ve ever worked with, besides Bruce Willis, are Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. They took every single one of my days for a year. But they are well worth the work. I’ve just traveled 36,000 miles around the world (in two weeks) and had the most amazing premiere at the Taormina film festival in an ancient, Greek-built theatre that existed well before the birth of Christ. I loved seeing the reactions to the film from so many different cultures. This movie really travels around the world. I’m so excited for everyone to see it. Thanks to all you that supported me on this film.
Just so I set the story straight, my budget started at $145 Million, it crept to $150 and some change – I’m very proud of that – the fact that we are half the cost of all these other summer blockbusters. I see people doubt that out on the net, but anyone want to challenge me I’ll put a ten thousand dollar bet down on the table right now.
Even when the studio tried to ship me out to Canada or shoot down with Aussies - I looked but I knew we were dead up there. I needed my crew that I have been loyal to for years, they are the best in the world. Besides I believe American movies that portray America, should be made in America. I cut my fee 30% so I could make this at home. I knew this was right for the movie so I asked the other producers to join – Ian and Lorenzo did, and the two others (that came attached to the project) Tom Desanto and Don Murphy did not. That was my introduction to them – they did not want any part of their fee going to make a better movie. Things like that don’t usually sit well with me.
Now that the movie is done I get strange questions from the press. Like ‘how did Tom control the set’? What? ‘How did Tom and Don control you?’ What the ****. ‘How was it working with Tom and Don who knew Transformers so well?’ ‘We heard Tom wrote the story – he had a 90 page treatment, right?’ Okay stop. Let me take you back in time. Tom and Don are very nice guys, but let’s get some facts straight.
Tom had one creative meeting with me for one hour and ten minutes to be exact about a year ago. He told he was the über fan boy and was going to protect me from the minefields. The type of minefields on the Net like ‘Damn you Michael Bay’ ‘You wrecked my childhood Michael Bay’ and other various web death threats I received. Tom proceeded to tell me how much he had problems with the robot designs and script issues. I realized he was worlds apart in my vision. I said thank you very much, and then showed him my office door - I never really spoke to him again other then to mutter hello. He would occasionally come to the set with guests like it was some theme park. I never spoke creatively with Don. I read his notes kind of trashing the script and making me and the writers feel like a big **** pile. But during production Don was nice to me, he knew I was not going to talk creative with him.
One day not too long ago, the writers of our movie Alex and Bob called me in a panic saying all of a sudden after the movie was almost finished in post that Tom was applying for writer’s or story credit. I was appalled because neither the writer’s nor I ever saw any treatment. Well, he applied for credit, but the Writer’s Guild shot him down, denied him.
But what made my blood curl was something that was on the Net with Tom at the Saturn awards on IESB.net where they interviewed him about the movie – a movie I might add he had not seen yet. He acted very much like he did. Check it out as he vamps through the questions, and how Hugo put his ‘thumb print on it’. Give me a break, the guy was lying through his teeth - he had seen nada, nothing, until the press screening.
So that’s the real truth, I had to say it, cause I’m tired of answering these questions.
What these guys did do was stuck with a ‘silly toy movie’ and pushed it around town and kept the faith after everyone turned them down, always with the hope that maybe someone somewhere would make it. Now I commend them on that. Hats off to them, but trying to taking creative credit in the press let me just say it – irks me. Too many credits are given to too many people who had nothing to do with the movie. Hell, even investment bankers with not the slightest idea of how to make a movie all of a sudden are big producers in town.
I guess that’s how it goes in Hollywood.
Michael Bay
I will be excited to see the movie

I ‘m always at Huebner Oaks shopping or browsing .I know ,the theaters are great. Very clean, audio and seating are first rate. They are always full at the weekend. i love the outdoor shops/boutiques there too. Not a big movie goer but I Watched both AMH and the Good Shepherd there. My husband also thought TGS an excellent movie. We’ll see AMH this weekend, my second time.
Haven’t seen Ocean 13 yet but I will . To me ,Support is more urgeent for AMH.
I just love the actors in the Harry Potter movie. Will be a spectacular ending.
When the sales come on , its not too bad at La Cantera. you just have to know where to shop.
I can ask Jared to give you my e-mail address and discuss this off site and whenever you’re ready, we can meet for coffee or lunch at Huebner Oaks. It will be my treat. Hope we can find the other fan from SA too.
Angelina is no more a lesbian than Anne Heicht is. When Angie was about 19 or 20, she had a brief relationship with that Asian girl, thats it. She has not been with a woman before or after that. I would just say that was youthful experimenting.
What about Drew Barrymore?
I know that they are rags but here is
OK! List of Most Influential People in 2007
July 04, 2007 07:25:25 GMT
by Maxine Green
OK! Magazine has listed celebrities with big influence in the entertainment world this year. Katie Holmes, Justin Timberlake and even Anna Nicole Smith’s baby Dannielynn are among the showbiz icons changing the face of Hollywood.
Within 6 categories, Holmes is placed under “Beauty Queens” alongside Beyonce Knowles and Jennifer Lopez. Holmes who is married to Tom Cruise showed a surprising appearance after she cropped her famous girl-next-door hair to a short bob last month. Knowles and Lopez by no chance are the two celebrities that often experiment with their appearance but still look good.
In the list of “Newsmakers”, Rosie O’Donnell top the list after creating one controversy after another through her show ‘The View’. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie with no doubt were the biggest attraction in the past years who couldn’t fail to make the headlines though their adopted and biological children. An anti-gay slur circling T.R. Knight and Isiah Washington’s case make the former a big source of news earlier this year.

Oh please don’t even mention Brad and Angie in regards to this,I like Nick and Vanessa, but Brad and Angie have more class than that, you would never catch or find them in a position like that.
The scene where you gave birth was powerful. Tell us what the set was like.
