OlderKelly Clarkson’s Ex Fights Back
Kelly Clarkson recently spoke out about David Hodges, her cheating boyfriend from last year.
“My standards were low because I was lonely,” she said. “I met this musician, not a famous musician–he doesn’t even deserved to be named–and I thought he was totally into me. And then you find out, oh God, that he had this whole other relationship on the side, and that he is only dating you to get into pictures and to become famous.”
Kelly had penned the song “Never Again” about Hodges on her latest album, My December.
Now Hodges is fighting back with his own song called “Just a Little Girl”, which according to his website us “a rebuttal to a single by a former idol currently on the radio.” (You can listen to it here.)
Hodges is best known for his work with the band Evanescence, which he left in 2002. He now fronts his own band, Trading Yesterday. Check out the lyrics to “Just a Little Girl” below.

Why are all you people saying that Kelly looks great??
You guys KNOW she is not keeping herself fit, and over eating….look at her when she was on A.I, she was like 20 lbs lighter. Now she has all this money and she can buy all the food she wants, that is why she is looking so dumpy. And her sales are low. If you want to make it in the entertainmen/music biz you have to look the part too…just being honest, cause thats how it is…

1. He is a grammy award winning musician.
2. He didn’t cheat.

4. This isn’t his best song (by far). “One Day” is a pretty good song on Trading Yesterday’s myspace page.
5. If David had wanted attention, he’d stuck it out with Evanescence.
6. The song of his was written only after he heard Kelly’s song as a rebuttal.
7. David IS a Christian….as Kelly is supposed to be. I guess noone is perfect.

I take both sides with a grain of salt. I have trouble believing David was using her for publicity because most people I know didn’t know that they were dating until they were over. We all knew David as a former and founder of Evanescence. Honestly. I’m left with impressions that no one was an angel in this relationship. I loved My December. it was well done. But it was just Kelly being angry, betrayed, lonely etc. for 14 tracks. Being that they were only together in 2004 I’m surprised that nothing happened since that time to make it into the CD. Was being angry at David the only thing she could talk about? I could cope with 1/2 a CD-but a whole one? the whole CD was the saintly doe-eyed Kelly who was victimized and came out jaded. I’m sure this wasn’t as black and white. When he says “you never cared to hear the other side” I believe that. I’m sure he did wrong things. I’m sure she has reasons to be hurt. But I’m also sure that this was a complicated relationship that isn’t going to be a simple good guy/bad guy story. There is a lot of bias because Kelly is more famous. I think there is more to the story. There is a lot not being said to me. I think since no one was there and can give an account it is unfair to take any sides. As far as we know both sides have done wrong,
I love the CD. It’s something anyone who has ever felt betrayed can relate to but I understand what you mean about there being two sides. Not that cheating is okay but…The problem is that sometimes people are quick to point the finger at others rather than analyze why the individual cheated. Maybe your own actions had a big role in pushing the other to the brink of temptation. By blaming and labeling others, it inevitably hinders people from looking deeper into the problem and trying to resolve it before it recurs with another mate. The common belief is, I’m not a bad person. I don’t need to change, I’m not the one who cheated. The result is that the whole process repeats itself without being rectified, which is probably why so many men and women complain about having been cheated on in so many relationships. People do not cheat because they’re pigs, sows, *******, or dogs. It all comes down to two basic drives: the physical sexual drive and the emotional need. Honestly, most men I know would not cheat on a girl unless they were feeling that something was not being met. I mean why risk ruining a perfect relationship with a side thing if nothing is wrong? Also, we don’t really know that he cheated. It’s his words against Kelly and unfortunately for him Kelly has a larger fan base that will believe whatever she says because she said it. The most facts we have is they dated a while, he left her and got back together with his ex whom he married and she was pissed off. Other than that it’s a war of words and choosing whom you were going to believe. I agree that it’s probably a little bit of both. To me it looks like they just wanted different things. Breakups are hard on everyone and there are too sides to a story. So I agree w/that poster. Let’s not make villains and heroes.

And about the publicity thing. I to had no idea they together. I think Kelly is giving herself too much of a compliment. She wasn’t that famous when she was with him/ I knew him from Evanescence. I don’t think he cared that she was famous. They were dating before Breakaway was out. She wasn’t really that famous then. She was the American Idol chick with one overplayed hit single that was a Christina castoff. I didn’t though they had been a couple until I heard the story behind Behind These Hazel Eyes. He probably only had pics of her on his site because he’s in them and it’s his site. He doesn’t have a huge gallery. I mean we might as well freak out that Amy Lee is in most of a picture and he’s not in Evanescence anymore. That’s silly.

David sucks, this song doesn’t even make any since, its just like he trough a bunch of words together. He needs to stop trying to be famous because he never will be. He is just mad thet Kelly is an AMAZING woman, she can sing, she is beautiful, she’s not a diva, she hasn’t let her fame on to her head like other singers, and she so nice to her fans, I know because I have met her. Um, okay, everyone. I am a PERSONAL FRIEND of David. I’ve known him for years. I went to church with him at the Summit Church in Little Rock, AR, and he is one of the best Christians I’ve ever known. I have played music with him numerous times both here in AR and at his house in Beverly Hills. I met Kelly while they were together, and know quite a bit about the relationship they had. First of all, David DEFINITELY deserves to be named. Kelly should know that, if no one else. He wrote two of her biggest songs, “Addicted” and “Because of You” (http://www.arthouseent.com/). He has also written songs for David Archeleta, Daughtry, and Evanescence, just to name a few. I think he does deserve to be named. And for the record, he DID NOT cheat on her. He had broken up with his future wife before he dated Kelly. And eventually broke up with Kelly to reunite and marry his former girlfriend. They are happily married with one child.
And P.S. famous people are rarely the people they think you are. I learned that when I met Kelly. You’ll learn, if you ever meet her, that she is quite immature, and his lyrics actually are spot on.
Also! Since David is a CLOSE friend of mine, I can tell you that David doesn’t give a CRAP about being famous. He cares about music and God, that’s it. He could care less about fame or money. Yes, he does make plenty of money, but that is because God has blessed him with amazing songwriting abilities, no other reason. I’m pretty sure I’ve spent more time with both of these people than any of you, so maybe you should take it from someone who was highly exposed to the relationship.

It’s not really right to claim that he’s just trying to get fame from Kelly, because if he was he would have just stayed with Evanescence. Also, for anyone who says he has no talent; have you even listened to his music? He’s very talented and he writes his own songs and he’s wrote songs for many famous people (Kelly included). If I remember correctly he also won a Grammy before. Besides, everyone makes mistakes. That doesn’t make what he supposedly did right, but for all we know Kelly may have done something to him as well, so at least try to consider it from both sides. Oh by the way, for anyone who says he’s being immature and whiny, you do realize that Kelly threw the first public punch by her song Never Again, right? But really, the most important thing is that we don’t personally know these people or what really happened between them, so who are we to pass judgment on either of them?
I feel kind of sorry for Hodges, but I’m biased because I like Evanescence. I think what he did was wrong, but I think all of these celebs blow things way out of proportion. They go on and on about how their lives are crap when they should think about people who are less fortunate and are being beaten up every day. So, I think Kelly and David are just being drama queens. Anyway, all mainstream stuff sucks. Excepot Kelly. GO KELLY!
