On he and Ben Affleck getting their first big paycheck after selling the script for Good Will Hunting: We both bought Jeep Grand Cherokees. It was funny, because Ben and I, we both always wanted a Jeep Grand Cherokee for some reason. That was the car. We always talked about it but never could afford one. So when we suddenly had the money, we each instantly started trying to convince each other to get a different car. We’d say, ‘Hey, have you seen the Explorer? The Ford Explorer is really cool.’ Because we knew it would just be so gay to get the same car.
On why not commenting on his personal life makes him a better actor: The better the actor, the less you know about his life. “I mean, nobody’s better than De Niro, and you don’t know anything about him, right?” Look at Meryl. We don’t know st about Meryl. Look at Clint. And Jack. And Brando. Marlon Brando—who f*ing knows, right?

Another thing. Montgomery Clift and Marlon Brando certainly had their issues ( Clift killed himself and Brando had his demons - we know about that ****). What makes a great actor is if even if they are in the public eye a lot, the second you see them on screen, they make the character come alive and you forget about their real life for a few hours.
I can’t believe THIS is the same guy that wrote Goodwill Hunting. I still love the Bourne movies, but that’s where my love stops.

Luciana’s gorgeous. Matt’s smart, has great taste in roles and says he tries not to be interesting so the media will leave him alone.

Matt seems like one of the most normal people in Hollywood, and I respect that he’s trying to have a normal life despite the stardom.
He’s right, a lot of the best actors aren’t in the tabloids, but it seems like the stars that get the most publicity either have controversial private lives and/or make themselves available to being photographed by papparazzi.

LOL. You need to get your dates straight. Angelina adopted and started her work with the U.N. in 2001/2002. Quite a few years before she started a relationship with Brad. Not after the fact. You just didn’t pay attention to her until after they started a relationship. Huge difference. Get out more.
I read the article and two things bugged me: He is SO thin-skinned–he memorizes his bad reviews and obsesses over them. Even when they were from years ago. Even when just little thing was bad and the rest of the article was good. Can’t let go of anything. Next thing was that he told the same story in the same way that Ben A. did in that book that came out about Miramax a couple of years ago…hey Matt your friend told that story years ago think of another one. Also all those actors he said you never hear about are OLD. Believe me, in his day Marlon Brando and Clint Eastwood were in the tabloids constantly. Clint has like 6 kids and only 2 are not ******** back when people cared about that kind of thing. Same with Brando knocking up all his maids.
He should realize people want to hear about his marriage and kid because hearing someone talk about their politics or the movie they just made is boring.
we know brad had 4 kids, 3 adopted and 1 biological. he’s dating angelina jolie where they met on the set of mr. and mrs. smith i’d say we know a heck of a lot about his personal life. the tabloids surely didn’t make that up. they acutally new they were dating way before they made it known to the public that they were a couple. i rmemeber seeing tabloid covers with them on the front and at the time they both were denying it.

to #39, we know brad and angie have four kids the same way we know how many kids jen garner, julia roberts and all the many other actors out there have. what should they do hide their kids to keep their lives private. as a matter of fact we know matt has i bio baby and a step-daughter. how does he think we knew these little snippets if he didnt talk. also, he was on david letterman recently and was relating a little anecdote about his daughter when they were travelling by plane. lets face it, matt knows that his life does not elicit a lot of interest, so he is just being a little bitchy, and probably envious too- who knows.

ITA with you. I’m surprised that no one else on this site caught on to him using that word in such a manner given that he seems to be the type of guy who would be more sensitive about such things.
Matt and Ben are both intellegent guys and they’ve both made mistakes like all the rest of us, and like the rest of us everything they’ve done hasn’t been successful. I still love them.
So glad I’m not the only one who dislikes Giselle.
Well what so called actors do not keep their business to themself, I guess the winner would be Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. If we get one more interview from Angelina talking about Brad and those kids, I think even Paramount will bar her from the grounds. There is nothing left to tell us about Brad, ok sweetie. So this would make the two of them the worse actors in hollywood. Can we finally get the next movie out there, so they can officially be thrown out of the business, once the movies bomb, again.
