Matt Damon - “GQ” August 2007
Bourne-again hottie Matt Damon takes the August 2007 cover of GQ magazine and expresses Barack >>> Hilary.
On his 08′ political preferences: If [Barack] was the face of America, it would mitigate a lot of problems in the world. [Clinton] so f***ing smart, isn’t she? I always liked her. But I’m just not interested in a leader who can’t admit that they even made a mistake in the first place. That’s what we’ve been dealing with for seven years now.
On wishing her could vote for Al Gore: “[An Incovenient Truth producer] Scott Burns told me he sat in a room with Gore, and Gore was talking about the state of the world and actually started crying. Like, literally.”
On he and Ben Affleck getting their first big paycheck after selling the script for Good Will Hunting: We both bought Jeep Grand Cherokees. It was funny, because Ben and I, we both always wanted a Jeep Grand Cherokee for some reason. That was the car. We always talked about it but never could afford one. So when we suddenly had the money, we each instantly started trying to convince each other to get a different car. We’d say, ‘Hey, have you seen the Explorer? The Ford Explorer is really cool.’ Because we knew it would just be so gay to get the same car.
On why not commenting on his personal life makes him a better actor: The better the actor, the less you know about his life. “I mean, nobody’s better than De Niro, and you don’t know anything about him, right?” Look at Meryl. We don’t know st about Meryl. Look at Clint. And Jack. And Brando. Marlon Brando—who f*ing knows, right?

Hooowwlll! Matt Damon is the man. Look at that SMILE! Been reading all the buzz about him and he is pretty buzzing with energy and fame right now. Great for him. I met him once in New York, visited him at his condo. Great person to know. Smart, friendly, guy next door type. He’s gonna remain in the scene for a while, I can tell. He needs to get rid of loser Afleck. (picture a duck here saying Afleck). He’ll just be a bad influence. Can’t wait for the next movie. And look out on PBS, he’s going to be an Animated Bear. Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!
