Sorry Odafe, I didn’t mean to upset Kylie fans. I wouldn’t wish breast cancer on anyone, but just because she’s recovered from this terrible disease, it doesn’t suddenly make her a great ‘artist’. I see her as a great example of cancer survival but let’s face it, for someone who’s been in the bis for almost as long as Madonna she hasn’t sold nearly as many records as M or her younger counterparts who have been in the industry for less amount of time. Her carrer is nothing short of a string of flimsy pop tunes written by other people. Kylie works from a marketing perspective cos she is pretty, but she is also ’safe’. For someone with that much experience it’s embarassing to think that she has so little creative influence and is still merely a puppet. Not that there’s anything wrong with having such a carrer but it annoys me that she’s hailed by some as an ‘artist’ when she has never done anything inventive and continues to jump on everyone elses bandwagon. She will never measure up to the word or to the likes of M. But it’s cool cos there is room for both of them. Kylie is also lucky to have such a supportive gay audience because she would have faded out along time ago.
