Borders Group announced yesterday that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows sold 1.2 million copies worldwide its first day, the biggest single-day number ever for the book chain. The store sold 850,000 copies of the previous “Potter” book on its first day of release in 2005. Pre-orders for Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble topped 1 million.
