OlderAngelina Jolie in ‘Beowulf’ — FIRST LOOK
Here is your first look at Angelina Jolie in Robert Zemeckis’s animated film Beowulf, which is set for a Nov. 17th release.
The LA Times describes the pictured scene: “Angelina Jolie’s lips look even fuller than usual. She’s emerging naked from a pool of dank cave water, rivulets of gold streaming gently down her body.
“Giiiif meee sonnnn,” she coos, in an Old English accent.
Her flaxen hair is braided down her back in a long tail that slowly undulates and slaps the dark pool around her. She continues to purr enticements about making babies as a virtual camera circles 360 degrees panning around her long limbs and waist. Gold dribbles down her inner thighs past her feet, revealing sharp stilettos merged with bestial hooves.
Beowulf is a hyper violent and highly sexualized tale of the warrior Beowulf (Ray Winstone) who must slay the monster Grendel (Crispin Glover). Later, Grendel’s mother (Jolie) seduces Beowulf so that she can produce a replacement heir that will allow her to reestablish her dominion over the kingdom. (Hence, Giiiif meee sonnn.)”

Then comes the best scene of the reel, as Jolie’s mother – at this point, virtually unseen save for a golden, scaled hand and a huge tail – rears up in anger and, in one breathtaking and doomladen p.o.v shot, swoops through the countryside, into the hall where Beowulf lies sleeping and… well, let’s just say that when he wakes up, he and Hrothgar know that their problems aren’t over. It’s an excellent scene – dark, and genuinely scary.
And so Beowulf sets off to conquer Grendel’s mother, venturing into her lair, only to find temptation in his path as the horrible, scaly beastie transforms into a shimmering, extremely photo-realistic and therefore gorgeous Angelina Jolie, who asks him to help her sire another child. A complex and perplexing scene, this may be the sexiest piece of animation we can think of in some time – if you thought A Bug’s Life gave you the horn, you ain’t seen nothing yet. And this isn’t simply because Jolie’s character is fully nude throughout (albeit with her golden skin blending into human skin in strategic areas, and – crucially, if Zemeckis wants to keep the PG-13 – the only nipples on display belong to Beowulf). Instead, it’s her attitude – confident, unyielding, controlling – as she bamboozles Beowulf with seductive reasoning and offers of great power that simply sizzles, and reinforces Zemeckis’ intention to make Beowulf a truly adult piece of entertainment, in a genre that more often than not has strictly been, y’know, for kids.

A guy named Dave reporting in after the premiere screening of Beowulf in my city- San Diego.

“Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary greeted a small theater filled to capacity and introduced each segment in turn - first, the trailer, then Reel Two of the film in its entirety, then a brief teaser trailer.
My impressions of what I saw:
• The story sounds like it could be a interesting take on the Beowulf we all know - Roger Avary mentioned “filling in the blanks” of an ancient oral narrative, assuming bits and pieces could have been lost along the line.
• The visuals are startlingly realistic but still can only come within 95% of true photoreality. Personally, I’d prefer a more stylized approach so that things like dead eyes, flaccid hands, and rubbery mumbly mouths don’t distract.
• Having said that, Angelina Jolie’s nude body dripping with liquid gold is hard to deny. Even if they did make her look like a Barbie doll “down there.”
• The film will be distributed in standard projection, Real D 3D and IMAX 3D. The presentation we saw was the Real D process and it was interesting in a gimmicky way. I’m not sure how it will add to the story but it certainly makes attending the film in the theater more of a unique experience. There were a few gratuitous SCTV “House of Pancakes” moments with swords of spurting blood projecting into my face but for the most part the 3D is used with restraint and to good effect.
[Did you at any point find yourself wondering ‘why the hell didn’t they do this in live action?’]
Dave: Someone asked them that question and their answer was threepart -
1. To help address the issue of characters aging in the story
2. To create spectacle and wonder
3. Why the hell not?
[I just read that this movie cost the studio approximately $1 million per minute and it’s not even finished yet. ]
Dave: They said that last night - specifically regarding the firedrake fight. Bob Z says “it makes no difference if you have a fight with a dragon or show some guy sitting in a chair, they both cost the same.”
And Gaiman said, “the reason we’re showing you Reel Two is because that’s the only part that’s done.”
In fact, the footage in the trailer is probably 90% from Reel Two.
*The color & detail in digital Real D was stunning… but I may not be the target demographic who likes blood literally splattered in their face.

i love the jolie-pitts,i know brad or angie will not do any thing to harm their family,what people don’t realize is that their in love,and they have grown more in love with each child and each responsibility,

I agree with lola on that point. I believe i know the truth, what am trying to say is that i think/know they are in love with each other and that they wouldn’t do such a thing coz by the end of the day those beautiful kids are the ones that will end up getting helt. I also think that Brad learnt his lesson.

Anyone else feel that lately Jared has really lowered his standards on this site. Not just about Brad and Angelina and the type of info he puts up about them, but in general.
Does he realize this site no longer has the type of quality it used to. He appears to be oblivious to it. No wonder most of the regulars have disappeared or rarely come here. Every thread becomes a fighting session.
