Kat DeLuna Whines Me Up
Rising pop star Kat DeLuna works the TRL wall like nobody’s business on Thursday’s TRL (taped Tuesday).
The 19-year-old bilingual sensation was born in the Bronx but raised in the Dominica Republic. She currently hails from Hoboken, New Jersey and is said to have a 5 octave vocal range, comparable to Mariah Carey.
Kat even has opera training and gave a little sample during TRL. She also performed her hit single “Whine Up.” Kat’s debut album, 9 Lives is set for a August 7 release.

how is a 5 octave range comparable to Mariah Carey? MC has an 8 octave range, I thought. And an ability to remain on key, which has escaped big-huge-voices Whitney Houston and Celine Dion…It’s not just “having the pipes” it’s being able to control them….

i was about to say Marihahas an 8octive range, i think by having an 5octive range she measures to Christna Aguileria not mariha carey. And if thats the case it isn’t that convincing from the video alone, but thats just one song and i just heard of her so we can’t be to qick to jugde that she is rubbish. Mind you the song is quite lame though

some people are soo lame! she’s a great singer. i am also dominican and have not seen someone with so much talent in a while. she seems to be a refreshing change from some of the “musical talents” we see today. and if her voice is good than what else matters? she’s a new artist so you can atleast wait for her to release more than one single before you start being so critical.
