Director/party animal Brett Ratner sat down with The Advocate recently to talk about his upcoming film Rush Hour 3, his “hairlessness” and his gay sexperiences.
On him being hairy: There’s no hair on my ass. I have no hair on my balls. So why am I a bear?
On Rush Hour 3 having “gay” punch lines (in reference to a girl taking off her wig and Chris Tucker becomes angry and accuses her of being a man): No, no! That’s from my personal experience. My first blow job was from a man, but I didn’t know it was a man. That’s where that comes from. It’s based on personal experience. It happens to a lot of people.
On his gay sexperience being common knowledge: No! Well, among my friends, but I’m not homophobic or uptight about it. That happens to a lot of heterosexuals. You meet a girl in a bar, and it turns out she’s not a girl. I think a girl should tell you if she’s a girl or a man–that way it’s your preference. It’s comedy. Look, in this movie we don’t pull any punches. We make fun of black people. We make fun of Chinese people. We make fun of French people. We make fun of gay situations. We make fun of whites. It doesn’t matter. It’s the type of movie it is. It’s a fish-out-of-water comedy. You have to have those types of situations to have the comedy. That specific idea was because it’s happened to me. It’s happened to my friends. We’ll get together with a girl, and it’ll turn out to be a guy. The reaction is “Oh, ****!” if you’re not gay, which is funny, I think. Getting into the situation is funny. I laugh whenever I see one of my friends talking to a girl, and I’ll ask, “Is that a man or a woman?” It’s funny, especially if you don’t know about it. If you know about it, fine. If that’s your preference…

Hey Leticia and Angie,
I have read the Bible and being a student of history I read 4 versions of the Leviticus text to which all hatemongers refer and your assumption, like most people who only spread the same false information they have heard, is wrong. The text refers to the catamites and young males who prostituted themselves - because then they take on the submissive role of a female which was not highly respected by the men of the time. If you notice even the King James edited version says “as with woman”. If it was meant to be a condemation of homosexuality it would says so and not exclude lesbians. However,the consensus was that women didn’t really matter,except for bearing children and serving man. The same passages that hatemongers use to condemn people they conviently forget when they slide on up to the all you can eat seafood bar or have some porkchops. It also stuns me the number of African-American people who fall back on the passages which encourage slavery and genocide. The fact that you - females, if your names are an indication- are even speaking on a public forum shows that you don’t practice what you preach because in the same Leviticus passages woman are designated as property who should keep silent unless doing their father, husband, or son’s bidding. The fact is those passages where probally not even considered important to the people of the time but when the Council of Trent, in the 16th century which was over a thousand years and the Roman Empire later, decided they might just help excuse the actions of men in power the books of Leviticus were included but over a hundred other books where discarded. While I am a big believer in morality and goodness, I do not believe in using an out of context passage on the one had to justify hating someone and then forgetting I am committing a sin when I eat shrimp. You can’t have it both ways, ladies, and just a few decades ago Leviticus was used to deny you the same rights as men else. So, while I have read the Bible and I put it into context and you should evalute what your TRULY believe instead of simply using the false information you were given by someone who was given the same false information or simply uses it to control your thoughts. If you want to hate then be honest, and say it is cause you are ugly inside and insecure about what you don’t know, instead of trying to take it as a spiritual stance because it only shows hate and that is never going to get you into heaven.

My, what a lovely Christian attitude to have, Angie. Jesus would certainly be proud! Although he might be a little confused that you’re apparently still living by Mosaic law as it’s put forth in Leviticus, since Jesus’ sacrifice ensured that we need no longer live by such intolerant rules.

I think you’re the one rewriting the Bible to please yourself and your life. At least, by this post alone, all I can assume is that the devil has made you fearful and spiteful, and for that, I hope that you find your way back to peace and love.
