Gwen Stefani: I Love Breastfeeding
Gwen Stefani was still breastfeeding son Kingston before her Sweet Escape tour launched back in April.
“I don’t know when I’m going to stop breastfeeding,” Gwen said from her hotel suite during her interview in London, fresh from another feed. “I’ll just keep going while I can - like, he’s getting his teeth so it is a little bit scary. He’s bitten me a few times!”
Gwen also gushed, “[Breastfeeding] is just obviously really convenient with my lifestyle. [For example, Kingston] nursed then went to sleep [during a flight from Los Angeles to London]. But he doesn’t sleep through the night. He’s up every three hours to feed.”
And did you know we’re in the midst of WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK? CELEBRATE!
UPDATE: Gwen is done with breastfeeding as of awhile ago. She announced this on Sydney radio last week (third from bottom).

Yeah mom 2twins, ’studies’ are wrong, I mean how could a woman using her breasts to actually feed her child be normal, I mean they’re just there for men to gawp at, right?
Idiot.
Breatfeeding is the best a child can get. Its so goood that ther are celebrities that think so human and normal.
When my son was hospitalized last Christmas, the only food he could keep down in his system was breastmilk. After throwing up everything (including water and Pedialyte) for four days, he had a non-febral seizure which left him blue and lifeless (he wasn’t breathing). Thank God the paramedics got there in time! CT scans countless blood and urine tests, x-rays, and an MRI, the docs ruled out a brain tumor but never determined what caused the illness. I stayed by his side and breastfed him on demand for a week, until gradually his appetite for solid food came back. I was so glad I didn’t wean him. I helped ‘nurse’ him back to health and every doctor and nurse on staff, regardless of their personal beliefs about breastfeeding, supported my act of love. I learned that out of the nutrients I comsumed, about 50% is passed to my toddler. Half is better than none at all! Everyone thought I was crazy for not weaning sooner before his hospitalization. I’m so glad I didn’t listen to everyone. Now I need to learn to figure out a way to stop. It’s time….
wow lots of little girls who don’t know what breasts are for on this board!
The World Health Organization and UNICEF (who AJ promotes) state 2 years is MINIMUM. Only us lazy Americans dumb it down to a 1 year recommendation. Gwen rocks and her boy will be brighter, healthier and better for it! Smart mama!
Jared THANK YOU for recognizing World Breastfeeding Week!!! Save millions of $ and millions of babies…breastfeed !
EXACTLY, madax.
Again, the WORLD AVERAGE age for weaning is between 4 and 5 years old.
For those of you in the US - “world” means those other continents (large land masses) covered with human beings. Only in GB and the US are women so comically selfish and twisted as to completely accept pop culture dictating that breasts are for sex and that they should feed their baby something that no one with scientific credibility actually thinks is good anymore (including the baby formula companies who clearly state “breast is best” on every can), drop it off at daycare, and get on with their lives. As I said above, don’t think you are right just because you are common.
Angelina Jolie may promote the WHO, but she didn’t breastfeed Shiloh for 2 years, did she.She stopped long ago.
Oh and to the twit who said breastfed babies are smarter and healthier, that’s just bullshit. My best friend was breastfed and has food allergies, asthma, and is obese now.(she weighs 230lbs) My cousin, who wasn’t breastfed, is an orthopedic surgeon and also a part-time professor at a high-ranking college. Yah, what an idiot she must be!
Some of you people are really naive. Oh if a “study” says it’s true, it must be true 100% of the time!!!!!!!!!
Morons.
Hey they bleeped out my word o-r-gas-m.
Jen, are you that fat lesbian from Celebrity Baby Blog that gets her jollies off looking at Danielle’s perverted breastfeeding gallery?
And breastfeeding a child who’s 4 or 5, that’s child sex abuse. “Hey Johnny, come suck on mommy for a bit. Your friends can wait.”
I think the people who are on the militant breastfeeding bandwagon most whole-heartedly are the ones who were breastfed and want to believe they’re superior. Either that, or they have fond memories of it and can’t shut the **** up about it.
I don’t see in the article where Gwen actually said, “I love breastfeeding.” She said it was convenient for her, but didn’t say she “loves” it. I hate it when blogs print false statements.
ROSE YOU ARE ONE SICK ****!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not knocking breastfeeding, I think it is great but I will have to say a fine line when a child can walk up to you and ask for your boob, or simply pull up your shirt if he is hungry. Pump if you still want him to get the good stuff but why have him still hanging from the boob? I never got that part?
Ladies I am all for breastfeeding, but do everyone a favor and be DISCREET about it. I was at a department store last week and some big woman was sitting outside the dressing room and had her boob out of her top for all to see. You can feed your baby without showing off your saggy ta-tas. It’s ******* disgusting to do it sitting at a table in a restaurant. It’s all well and good to say it’s natural, but so are pissing, shitting, and having sex, but you don’t see people insisting on doing that in public. And if you’re sitting at a table in a restairant we don’t want your milk squirting out all over the place like a frigging cow. Go feed your baby somewhere private. NO ONE WANTS TO SEE IT!
In all fairness, I think “most” women (women with some sense of class, anyway) try not to show their whole breast while breastfeeding in public. I was able to do it in malls, doctor’s offices, etc. without making a big production out of it.
But nothing disgusts me more than seeing older kids breastfeeding in public. I was at a wedding last year and a 7-year-old boy ran up to his mom, lifted her top and started nursing. To make matters worse, she let him and seemed to be unphased by it. THAT is not normal and that boy is going to have some big issues someday.
First, gwen has never put her boobs out there like Maggie to breastfeed! Also, she didn’t just come out and say I love breastfeeding! She was asked by the interviewer and she answered back, just like all answers celebs give there is a reason you know.
Where in this article did she say “I love breastfeeding”?
i am still breastfeeding my 14 almost 15month old, and will probably continue until he’s at least 2, whenever he’s ready to stop, it’s up to him~actually nursing him right now! those who don’t support/agree with extended breastfeeding need to leave their IGNORANT opinions to themselves.
I breastfed both my kids and am still nursing my 15 month old daughter. I happen to believe that nursing is more beneficial than formula for many different reasons however I make no judgements on those that didn’t breastfeed. I nursed both children whenever and wherever was necessary however I preferred to have privacy whenever possible. I am disgusted by the name calling, lack of class and vulgarity used by many in these postings. And also by the complete ignorance about nursing shown by many of you throwing insults around. Women should be supporting each other in our efforts to raise our children in the best way possible regardless of if they are breastfed (in public even) or not. Rise above your negativity and support one another.
Here’s a thought for all of you anti-breastfeeders: If you are against breastfeeding, then DON’T do it. Stop trying to push your views and beliefs on everyone else and stay out of other people’s business, especially a celebrity who you have never even met and never will. Everyone has their own life and their own choices to make. I personally am breastfeeding my 11 month old, and will continue to do so for at least a few more months because of the vast amounts of benefits it provides. A friend of mine strictly formula fed her child…and I did not put her down for that. If everyone would just mind their own business and stop trying to push their beliefs on one another, the world would be a much better place!
PS-Just because I breastfeed my son, does not mean that I “whip out my boobs” in public. I AM very discreet about it, as I don’t want strangers seeing my body. Also, for you twisted jerks who are acting as though breastfeeding has anything to do with sexual arousal, you are just pathetic and ignorant. You obviously are not a parent to even suggest that. Grow up!
This is so silly people. People who Breast feed for a few weeks and then give up because it is too stressful..come on. Great that you gave it a try, but where is the dedication, these are our children, the people of our future and why would you not want to give what is best for our youngins’ I was a young mom at 18, I didn’t even think twice about nursing. I took it upon myself to read and do research and DUH! Breast is Best:) More celebrities should nurse and be public about. Maybe since everyone trys to look, act, be like celebrities then maybe everyone will become nursing mothers. You people say “you don’t want to see the boob” your an ass. Breasts are there for a reason, we as women produce food for our young, so they can survive. You formula feeding mothers, should re evalulte what you are putting into your childs system. Their poop smells, they spit up more, they get more colds, ear infections, illness’,they smell weird and to top it off for every year a women nurses she decreases her risk for diabetes. Breast milk is always sterile, always the right temp and always ready to serve.
I say if you have them use them FOR FEEDING YOUR CHILDREN, and if your don’t going to use them for that reason..I feel so sad and sorry for your child who at least deserves a fair chance at a healthy life.
You rock Gwen!!!! I wish I could sing like you!! You are Awsome
Sincerely,
Miley

Two years is too long. Gone are the days when most Moms stay at home. Baby will benefit from even six weeks of nursing. A stress free rested mom is more important. If you can, give it a try. If you are unable, don’t let the Surgeon General or anyone else give you a guilt trip.
And I think Gwen rocks! Onstage and as a mother.
I love the comment above…as a working mom I recently had to stop pumping (my baby is now 10 month). You made me feel so much better about it. Thanks. As for Gwen…you rock for making it as long as you did.
elle est belle mais moi j aime ces chanson c super quand j enttend when up it oui c cool a++
ok
To each his own. What does it matter to anyone else how long she nurses for. It doesn’t harm anyone and has never been shown to produce codependency. He is a baby, he is dependent. Maybe that is what is wrong with this country. Baby forced to act like adults we wonder why children are killing children. Let them be babies!!! Nursing is natural and for however long a women is willing to do it, good for her.
By the way, my daughter is 15 months. Still nursing and is very healthy and happy. Judge no one!!!
>>>It’s ******* disgusting to do it sitting at a table in a restaurant<<<<
Thank the heavens above that the law does not agree with you!!!
Its federal law that a woman can breastfeed anywhere she is legally allowed to be.
Almost every single state has a state law that protects a womans right to breastfeed her baby anywhere, anytime, anyplace.
Breastfeeding at a table is not disgusting. Why should we have to feed our babies elsewhere? YOU don’t have to shove food into your pie hole in the bathroom, why should our babies??
If you don’t like looking at a woman breastfeeding, DON’T LOOK.
If you can’t help but look, then you have some neurosis that you have to have checked.
I have breastfed all of my children until they were 17 months old.
They don’t get sick as often as other children, they have never had any food allergies, or allergies of ANY kind.
Breast milk is helpful to people of ALL ages.
Why do you think that doctors write scripts for cancer patients for breast milk from the human milk bank??? It helps their immunity, and gives them much needed nutrients.
And, women have to have a total of over 2 years breast feeding for it to decrease their risk of breast cancer. Why? Because our breasts were made for breast feeding, and NOT breast feeding that long changes our cell structure and helps facilitate cancer growth.
Those who don’t “believe” the breast feeding studies…well…not everyone can be the brightest crayon in the box.
P.S. all the “men” who think breast feeding is gross….why do you all think you have them? Men can induce lactation too. Its a natural stand-by in case the mother can’t. Look it up: male lactation.
what if someone told u to go eat ur food some wheres else is it right ?wheather it’s in a restraunt outside or in their own living room that baby is doing exactly what u are and thats enjoying a meal.
