i don’t uanderstand all of this jury thing,like is it a must to be a jury? can someone explain? ( this question is for fans only

#53: man, I wouldn’t mind jury duty so much if I could only sit in the box with Brad Pitt. I may not talk to him (will get tonguetied for sure) but I would sneak peeks at him every 30 seconds. Oh, and take pics and video of him from my cell phone every chance I get.

I wonder what the other jurors thought when they saw him come in?

That poor criminal would be there everyday cause I’ll hang up the jury just so I can take a look at Mr. Pitt every morning.

Angelina Jolie, family in Chicago for movie shoot By Karen Jordan
August 9, 2007 - Actress Angelina Jolie, actor Brad Pitt and their entire family will call Chicago home for the next couple of weeks. Jolie is in town filming her latest movie, Wanted. The movie is using Chicago as a backdrop.

If you happen to pay attention to the tabloids, they’re reporting that there’s trouble with “Brangelina,” that Brad and Angelina might be breaking up. But the couple has been in town the past few days while Angelina is shooting her new movie, and not only is that exciting for celebrity watcher, it’s great for the local film industry.
Until now, the best way to see Angelina Jolie was in the movies. But there’s chance you’ll see her in person. The Oscar-winning actress is in town shooting her latest movie “Wanted” and is staying at the Peninsula Hotel, right off the Magnificent Mile. Brad Pitt and their four children are also calling the hotel home for the next two weeks. The prospect of seeing Jolie and Pitt is exciting for some tourists.

“We’re gonna keep our eyes open. We’re here shopping today, but we’re her to see the sights, but she’s part of the sights today,” said Charlie Caulkins, tourist.

Today, Jolie was spotted shopping Timeless Toys in Lincoln Square. We’re told that the actress and her daughter spent a half hour in the store Thursday morning while paparazzi waited outside, ordered to stay out by the owner, who was surprised by the actress’ visit.

“That’s neat. That means somebody downtown must be saying nice things about us,” said Harry Burrows, Timeless Toys.

The Illinois Film Office says a lot of nice things are said throughout the industry about Chicago, which is why the city is enjoying a boost in movie productions, including the Batman sequel “The Dark Knight, ” which will be shooting here through Labor Day.

“They frequent our restaurants and our hotels, and they help spread the word of what a wonderful place this is to work,” said Betsy Steinberg, Illinois Film Office.

Steinberg says part of what makes for a pleasant working environment is the fact that Chicagoans have more of a respect for privacy. Which brings us back to the Peninsula, a posh hotel with back entrances for quiet comings and goings, and perhaps a break from the paparazzi..

“I’m not really star struck. If I see them I’ll say hi and go on about my day,” said Fabian Lewis, fan of Angelina.

“She seems to be a great mother. She doesn’t leave them, she takes them, and I think her privacy is important to her and I don’t blame her,” said Madeleine Costello, fan of Angelina.

Angelina is reportedly shooting a scene from the movie, which also stars Morgan Freeman, Thursday in Berwyn. Freeman, by the way, is also shooting scenes from the Batman sequel, and Heath Ledger has also been spotted around town. He is playing the Joker in the “Dark Knight.”

i don’t want to get into the history,how ppl are selected bla bla, but anyone selected has to do it, its not optional, failure will result in the person being held in contempt of court, you can be excused but only if you have a valid reason because most ppl do try to get out of it, brad failed to get out of it so he has to do it.

Also if you do not show up for jury duty the Court can send the sheriff or police to pick you up in cuffs, bring you before the judge, find you in contempt of the Court, and then fine you and/or jail you. I had a friend that just ignored a jury summons, blew it off, and a deputy showed up at her job and put cuffs on her and took her to the Court. She got hit with a $1500 fine and they held her in a holding cell for 6 hours before they let her go. The judge was so angry because this was a high profile trial and she held up the whole process. Maybe people used to be able to duck out of jury duty but where I live they use your driver’s license # and they can find you. For real.

Brad Pitt was just about to be called into the jury room when — hold the phone! — the lawyers in the case he was to be a part of announced they might have a plea agreement.

Brad and other potential jurors were put on hold — Brad in his own private room, others in the hallway — while lawyers hammer out details. If a plea is reached, Brad and company could be sent home or assigned to another case.
