OlderSelma Blair is Dazed and Confused

On favoring roles that skirt the edges: “I know my strengths and I know what I give, and I do lend either a certain gravity to things or an over-the-top lightness. I’m kind of at extremes when I do something really well.”
On what she wants from the movie business: “There was a time when I would brush things off and I was so self-deprecating, like, “Oh, it’s such a tiny role no one will pay attention. But now, I’m just grateful to have them and I hope I get more because I’m a character actress. You know… I don’t bleach my teeth, I chain-smoke, I’m flat-chested, I don’t mind being nude, I’m not precious, I’m pale as a ghost, I have crow’s feet, and I believe I can play anybody. So to get to start to do that has been incredible.”
On owing her evolution to the directors she’s worked with: “All the directors I’ve worked with have been amazing. With John Waters, it was really interesting making his voice, and you hear it and you can’t get it out of your head. that’s why I think his movies have the same kind of rhythm and the same flatness, because were all just playing John.”
On the cruel criticism: “I remember filming the first ‘Hellboy’ in Prague and I was so lonely. I Ended up rooting around on the internet. I looked at some comments that people had written and I had no idea that I was so disliked! And you know, that becomes your consciousness. I told [director] Guillermo [del Toro] what I’d done and he said, ‘You might as well go lick the bottom of a toilet seat bowl, because that’s as much good as it’s going to do you.’”
On her love for Angelina Jolie: “Speaking of poise… I Was watching Angelina Jolie the other night on TV. Ann Curry was interviewing her. And Jolie has turned out to be such a poised woman. She has really lived so many lifetimes in front of the press. It’s really something. she’s obviously so accomplished. I can’t even bear to watch because she is just too perfect. I hope I can have that kind of poise at some point.”

Selma is fug to me. The hair cut really stinks on her. Don’t even remember if she had a movie-or a name of one she was in. She’s shaped like a boy. That hair style and those side burns reminds me of ‘Wolverine.’
How smart is she to mention AJ in her interview … since she likes AJ she now has fan base.

I don’t really have an opinion of her but I think she could be beautiful if she had some electrolysis (hair removal) on her forehead. It did wonders for Catherine Zeta Jones.
blare, blair selma! all her own — i have always loved her, not conventional, not over the top and she knows that. even, i’m glad that we are a select set who appreciated this actress. for one, to openly appreciate angelina makes her kindred to another remarkable, enigmatic woman. wow, do we love these gals that pokes at you with their strength, rather than the suckers in parises and britneys. Blair on!

I have always admired Selma Blair too. She always stands out in all the roles that she played on screen even if she had a small role. She has that devil may care attitude that is rare and she is soo cute. She reminds me a bit of my idol Angelina when she was younger. I’ve been wondering when she was coming out again. I know she got married and that didn’t work. I am glad she’s back.:-)
Angelina has no poise! She’s just an ugly, man-stealing ****! And she’s the one who looks like a ****, not Selma.I’m tired of people heaping undeserved praise on her when most of her films are lousy and she hasn’t done more humanitarian work than most non-celebrities have done.
She has 7 movies coming out this year you morons. One she has Oscar Buzz for. WAZ with Stellan Skarsgard. Shes beautiful and can pull off any look she pleases. Shes not the manufactured crap hollywood tries to pump out. Those of you who call her b- list are uneducated in film. People like Zac effron are D list and you fawn him. Just because someone does a **** load of press and pumps out crummy studio films doesnt make them an actor.. it makes them a personality. much like Lindsay Lohan.

Selma Blair: She made a very strong impression on me in Legally Blond. I didn’t like “her” (her character), but I remember her ever since.
I also don’t like Selma’s hairline. It grows all over her forehead like she must be hairy. She’s not pretty but she has a cute figure.
Angelina Jolie is poised because she looks into the mirror and knows she’s beautiful and that all the world is worshipping her beauty. How can she not know what she has? If everybody is saying you are so gorgeous and mysterious, it’s easy to act the way people see you. Only the very beautiful, exotic women like Jolie and Sophia Loren can pull that off.
sad that this girl has to worship AJ like the rest of the sad lonely women in the world, i actually liked her until then
