andromeda…I live in Toronto, Canada. I am sure I’ll love Argentina. Just looking at the pictures at a travel book surely makes me want to go there. There are a lot of Argentinians here in Toronto. I am very close with my Latino friends here.

You can bet after my frustrations of last night that I will strap on my running shoes and stalk — er, look for Brad and Angelina this weekend. Thank God I will be working this Saturday and Sunday, so I will try to go to that Restaurant (The Grill Room) where they will be shooting. An officemate said that it serves pretty good steak, so I will be dining in fine form while waiting for Ange (hopefully the restaurant will not be closed to the public while shooting goes on). And then I can also hang around Upper Wacker to try to see their filming at Lower Wacker. Or, if worse really came to worse, I can just do what the real tita suggests and scream at the top of my lungs, BRAAADD, ANNNGGGIEEEE, WHERE ARE YOU, GUYS?

I think after the Green Concert, JA realized she made a booboo, so she probably decided to disengage from the product. The irony was, the ads was about how smart it is to drink their water. Well, IMO, she wasn’t smart about her decision. She didn’t think thoroughly before making her endorsement, that’s why the ads were up only for just one issue of the fashion mags. Total embarrassment, and NOT SMART. :lol:

Wow!! That is one heck of an article! Read the whole thing and saved it (so nice to see you posting again by the way - I think it has been a while since I’ve seen you here!). And from the New Yorker no less. Please BAMPZS fans, if you haven’t read this article you won’t regret making the time to. It is GOOD.

So many of the struggles that these ordinary (well, extraordinary in my mind) people deal with are exactly the same. And I love how it addressed what has been brought up in the media against Angie and Madonna.

One woman said that she couldn’t have imagined adopting until she had her first bio child. Imagine what a leap it was for Angie to adopt, never having had a child, and at a fairly young age. I’m even more impressed after reading this article.

I live in NYC and before those ads came out, I actually used to see people buying that stuff in the delis from time to time. After X’s fugly face was in that ad, I never saw anybody buying it.

I understand the sales of Saint John’s Knits have gone up 400% since Angelina started appearing in their ads. I wonder if X single-handedly killed Smartwater.

SJK is not a publicly listed company and so getting all the facts and figures are difficult. Interestingly enough in June 2005, a company made an offer to purchase 1% of the company for 1.3m. This would value SJK at 113m in total.

I’m not sure how companies such as SJK can be valued. In an article I read that fashion apparel companies average valuations in 1995 was about 80% of revenue. But popular fashion companies like LVMH or Gucci etc are probably worth much more than 80% of revenue.

To make calculations easy, I assuming that a label like SJK can be valued at 1 x revenue in 2005 and so its sales revenue was about 113m. Remember, this was in June 2005, just before Angelina joined the company when fashionistas and industry watchers were saying that SJKI had lost it way. Couldn’t work out if it wanted to appeal to the younger women or the older women. when that brazilian model, gabriela?? was the face of SJK.

Last year, it was announced that SJK’s sales had increased to close to 400m. So, that would make it close to 400% increase.

Of course, the success of SJK is not all Angelina. Design, production costs etc etc, are very very important components. But there is no denying in the world of high fashion, effective marketing and advertising is a very very important component too. So, Angelina has definitely played a role.

Like I said, a woman has many choices these days, where to spend a few thousand $$ on a coat. If these women who can afford to drop a couple of thousand $$ onn a suit are viscerally turned off Angelina (remember, homewrecker, blood vial wearer, S&M, bisexual etc etc), do you seriously think they’ll drop their $$.

LOL. follow the money. How we spend it reflects our true values and true likes and dislikes. That’s why I say PROOF that for the smart, successful woman at least, Angelina is an icon.

For clarity, I should rephrase this:
