Mandy Moore takes a stab a covering “Umbrella,” originally performed by R&B songstress Rihanna.
Mandy explained why she chose to cover this song: “This was one of my favorite songs of the moment. I’m not a big Top 40s type of listener but you just can’t deny how melodic this song is.”

dont get me wrong i like mandy moore but singing is not for her.thank you. rihanna got it as a number one hit and i’m glad other celebs love it and they are doing their own version but still i dont like this version.

Sounds nice, but its kind of pathetic. Who covers a song that’s practically new? The video is still being played and its still getting a lot of radio spins. I cant recall someone (another well known artist) ‘covering’ a record so fast. LOL
That should be a new trend for artist. When your record isn’t selling just take the BIGGEST single out at the time and ‘cover’ it. And it doesn’t matter if its an up tempo song that your voice cant handle… Just slowwww iiiit downnnnnn, sing low and make it your own like Mandy. LOL
This wasn’t bad at all… I actually liked it a lot. The John West version on the other hand, is absolutely horrendous!
I liked this version better than the original one. The song has more feeling and Mandy Moore has a better voice than Rihanna.

I think Mandy Moore has matured into such an incredible artist. Her new album is one of my favourite albums ever - I haven’t stopped listening to it since I bought it. Who would have guessed she could take a song I despise and make it into something I really enjoyed?
If you’re interested in hearing ‘Wild Hope,’ you should definitely check it out. Find her performance on “Gardenia” on youtube - she cries and it’s the most amazing performance I’ve ever seen.
