Mandy Moore takes a stab a covering “Umbrella,” originally performed by R&B songstress Rihanna.
Mandy explained why she chose to cover this song: “This was one of my favorite songs of the moment. I’m not a big Top 40s type of listener but you just can’t deny how melodic this song is.”

Wow. Why did she became an actress? She sucks. She should stick to singing, this was awsome, she managed to make an irritating song listenable!

Okay I love Mandy Moore to death but I can’t stop laughing at this! It is a bit annoying when Rihanna sings the chorus but I must admit I like her version better. Amazing voice but this was not working for me.

I really understood how beautiful and loving the lyrics were without the somewhat harsh rhythm that Rhianna’s version has. I love that Mandy seems to portray a completely different message.
She has an ok voice, but this is just so BORING!! I like Rihanna’s version, but not because of her voice but the music. Rihanna is too croaky for more!
It’s nice, but the rhythm is way too slow for me. I liked Marie Dibgy’s version better.
This song sounds okay, but after hearing the original it, she drained all the life out of the song, IMO. Very Depressing.

WOW! That was amazing. First I thought she was going to do it with the same beat as Rihanna but hers was completely different and better. Now where can I get this version I must have it for my ipod!
Marie Digby has an acoustic version as well this was the one used on The Hills… Digby became famous off all her covers she uploads onto youtube.

It wasn’t a bad cover… BUT I feel like Mandy needs to STOP stealing SOUL R & B music!! If you don’t like OUR type of music then don’t cover it. WRITE and perform your own ****!….
She did a great job!The song has much more emotion in her version! Sounds great!
I think this is the same stunt that was pulled in the older days to keep African American artist from rising. African American artist like Little Richard and The Temptations all had their songs “covered” or remade by white artist. Ironic how this type of racism is still being done years later. Rihanna’s version represents African American culture from the bass beats to the hip-hop artist featured on it to her dances in the video. Someone above stated, Mandy Moore appears more “classy.” I guess Rihanna was a little to “black” for mainstream music so Mandy Moore had to fix it for America?
