Patrons Hugh Jackman and wife Deborra-Lee Furness attend the 2007 Red Ball fundraising event for the Bone Marrow Donor Institute at Peninsula at Central Pier in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday.
The Peninsula is one of Melbourne’s most glamorous and avant-garde waterfront event venues. The event featured an exclusive one-off set by Tony Award winner Hugh.

he’s a great actor, father, husband, human and now we can said that he is our HERO! I love Hugh! … it’s so good that he and his wife Deb help childrens!
Hugh does not look that much younger than his wife. Look at those crows feet. So I say leave the couple alone.

You know those australians better stay away from the sun, or you’ll age to fast like Hugh and those crows feet, wrinkles suck, playing in out on the beach in the sun will not help you, you’ll just faster and especially if you live in Australia
now i love this couple, i think they’re great together and to their children. true they aren’t getting any younger, no one is. men tend to look better as they mature, women, it depends i think. i think deb’s a great lady but someone needs to hold her hand and tell her that less is more. her hair is too much, is it a modified mullet? accessories are too busy, so is the dress. imagine how elegant she’d look if she had a simple chin length cut with natural highlights tucked behind her ears, and diamond studs, and a nice column dress in a neutral color. again, i love them, but there’s room for improvement -=]
Once again, Deb proves her inability to dress herself extends to formal occasions as well.
WHERE does this woman get these awful get-ups? You could find something more attractive at a thrift store. When you consider the money and resources this woman has, her clueless wardrobe really is puzzling.
Stylist Deborra, STYLIST. If you don’t know anything about clothes, pay someone who does.
Is Hugh too cheap to buy this woman a decent dress? Good Lord.
Oh leave her alone. She’s a working woman. Hugh is forty years old. His wife is a producer. You work in a high stress job and tell me what you look like at 40.

Hugh and Deb met in 1995 when she was the star of an Australia TV show and he was the co-star - his first job out of drama school. They’ve been married since 1996.
He CAN’T shave - he’s filming “Australia” and the character requires a beard. He just flew in from the Outback and is due back on the set on Monday.
And Deb’s hair is up in the back - her hair is chin length or a bit longer.
hugh is the hottest man alive so shut up and his wife is the luckiest woman of the world!!
If Hugh looked at me the way he is looking at Deb in pic 10 chances are would go into a dead faint…..what a great couple…..

Several years ago, Hugh talked about his skin damage from growing up on the beaches of Sydney and how he NEVER leaves the house now without sunscreen, but…too late. Damage done. My sister and best friend, the same thing. Both younger than me but look several years older because they were sun worshipers. A tan is great in your teens and twenties, but all that sun will come back to bite you on the ass as you approach forty.
I suppose he could go under the knife in the next few years or so, but he doesn’t strike me as that narsacistic and I would imagine he’s going to let himself age naturally. I hope so. I’d rather look at a beautiful face as it ages AS IT SHOULD, rather than a carved up one that looks plastic.
And he’s no spring chicken. He’ll be forty next year and he’s got the lines on his face and the beginnings of gray in his beard to show for it.
And what’s wrong with that? ALL OF US are either forty or beyond or someday will be. Don’t be afraid of it young ones. You live your life right and you’ll be happier in your forties (and the years to come), than you ever were in your teens and twenties.

like I do to Hugh Jackman and now Wentworth Miller.( they moving up the ladder, and they put some gay stuff on them,and it’s so funny, they have no proof, it’s just some YACK.(and I think we Hugh Jackmnn (fan’s) can sit here the next 10 years, and the gay rumour will go on.(And it will happen to Wentworth Miller too.(Have seen photos, Wentworth always with girls.)But the gay rumour will stay.(just see Hugh, they never go)
For those of you commenting about the dress …..
That’s actually the same dress that she wore to last year’s event. Infact, I think it’s the same dress she wears to every event. She just wraps herself in different shawls each time. Sorry, honey, we’re not fooled.
And no way is she in her mid 40s.
By her own admission in an Australian magazine called Scene, Deb said she was 18 years old in 1973. That makes her 52 this year.
If you can’t prove he’s gay, which was said in a previous post, then you can’t prove he’s straight either. We have no idea what kind of “marriage” they really have. Smiling and posing for cameras doesn’t prove anything. They’re both experienced in creating fantasies for the public. Who cares if she’s a mother figure and/or business partner or that their relationship may not be the romantic fairy tale that women want it to be. They still seem to be nice people, and he’s still cute, charming, and talented.

It’s more important to note that, other than Hugh’s grey hair and Deb’s gown, that they were there to help raise money for an important cause. Hugh had to fly from Kununurra in Northwestern Australia ( a long flight to Melbourne) to rehearse and perform on the same evening and spend time with people who came to support the charity. Deb is also a patron of this charity and they have worked together to help support BMDI’s cause.
Shouldn’t we be acknowledging their generosity of time and spirit rather making observations on their personal lives?
Well thank you Cute Icy. Your words were very kind. And no, I don’t give people (who don’t even know me) the power to hurt me. I suppose to some it looks like I don’t have any life at all and I just sit here on my computer all day. And with my “gift” (ha ha) for talking up a blue streak and flying fingers to match, I guess I can see how others might think so.
As for my “over the top” defense of the Jackmans…Well. I’ve been reading the “over the top” crap swirling around them for so long now that I finally said ENOUGH and started posting my opinions (and I picked this particular forum to do so, because I know it is very widely read). And that’s all they are; my opinions. But I’ve met them both on several occasions and more importantly, I’ve talked with those that have worked with them (VERY IMPORTANT). I’ve been around Hollywood most of my life and it’s left me rather cynical about “show business.” I know that most of what we get is manufactured bullsh*t. But it is my opinion that these two are the REAL DEAL and if I didn’t think so, I wouldn’t waste 5 minutes of my precious time on them.
Hollywood has been covering up the homosexuality of it’s stars since it’s inception and if Mrs. Jackman is the beard that’s fueling all of this “talk”, I promise you, the first order of business when he “arrived” in Hollywood, would have been, to send her packing back to Australia and to then find himself a gorgeous YOUNG starlet to parade around as as “wife.” THAT IS HOW IT IS DONE!
One more time I will ask these questions (and I guess I’ll keep on asking them until someone can answer them). Why did she marry him back in 1996 before he was a star? There was no fame to protect at that point? What was in it for her to marry an unknown, penniless, gay actor? WHAT???
They met, fell in love, moved in together and got engaged within a matter of months and were married less than a year later. If what some of you say is true, then why did they do that? WHY??? There was no need AT THAT TIME.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Frye? Anyone?
I agree with you too Applause, I am glad to see Hugh and Deb support such a worthy cause and I admire the generosity and time that they devote in their lives to help others. Hugh flying all the way from his movie shoot at Kununurra to be at this charity function alongside his wife Deb says a lot about them both and what’s important to them. I hope that they had a wonderful and successful charity night!
I have to say that these set of photos are my favorite photos of Hugh and Deb together so far! Photo 5, 8 and 10 are so stunning of both of them as a couple! And omg, Hugh looks so incredible! And I really like the new bangs on Deb too. I’ll be honest to say that I’m somewhat at a loss as to what her dress is trying to do here (to me it’s like a Frank Gehry thing), but I really do like her elegant and artsy earrings. I remember that she wore some artsy and elegant earrings and accessories during the Van Helsing premieres in London and LA. Her outfits were spot on and they were my favorite look and outfits of hers. I’d love to see her wear accessories like this more often and would also would love to see her venture from her favorite black to some more color too; a beautiful Valentino red or a jewel-toned teal that would be so fabulous with her blond hair and beautiful skin). Anyway, I guess everyone has a personal fashion opinion and fashion and outfits aside, there’s no doubt that Deb is truly a lovely lady working for a great cause and that night, she looks so stunning with her very handsome man!
Oh, and did any of you check out Hugh’s long ‘posh Kensington Roddy’ legs in photos 4 and 8? I had to giggle when I saw them, I love that man! hehehehe…
