US is too much this morning. Official Huvane statement quoted. Now there is a denial that a meeting with Brad and Shiloh ever happened for the ex. What is going on?

Could it be that we have been right all along about her people reading JJ? I think the reason her PR is addressing this particular rumor is due to my post about why I don’t respect JA as I do AJ. (I know I am being presumptuous :lol: ) I said that contrary to AJ who will only correct rumors hurtful to others, JA only comes out to refute rumors damaging to her own image, no matter how trivial and far fetched they are, such as boob job, nose job, dating or not dating…, she never addressed anything hurtful to others in relation to her, especially to B&A. So, what do you know? Huvane come out to deny the meeting ever took place. :lol: Good, it’s about time we sever all the ties and be civil to one another.

The denial IS a little too late. The public will never stop seeing her as the victim because she enjoyed the victim status for too long.

The denial is because a british paper (oh surpirse!) made up a whole interview with aniston, were she said she run into Brad and shiloh in a restaurant and also something about Paul. That’s why Huvane is denying the story.

Paul has already been seen with another girl and his rep spoke first. It is like when VV was seen with another girl before Huvane said he beroke up with Jen.

Anyone here from NO? what time is there? Did the tour the construction site already happen?

AJ always praises Brad. I have never heard her even jokingly put him down. She seems devoted to his welfare and their life together almost as much as she is devoted to their kids. ALso, it must be so dramatic a change for her to see a real father with his family since she didn’t have one. Think of Voight always saying “my” daughter and Brad always saying “our” kids and “our family” and “our eldest.”

Also I am so glad BP and Aniston didn’t have kids. I never thought she could give up dying her hair, smoking and whatever it was she did to stay thin. That’s OK and I never faulted her for it. If she had a child the poor kid would be in the middle of an even more miserable relationship now.

JA is a real drama queen. It took her like 2 months to issue a denial,,, wow she must be running on the extra slow batteries or something but after such a long time, it wasnt necessary or is it coz of the reference to Brigette Jones?

Good let her get a taste of her own medicine. When it was first published she just enjoyed it since she wasnt being mentioned in bad light,,The Ice cream bit is to die for.

Paul and VV were caught with other women before Huvane said the relationship was over. I am sorry for the men that date JA.

I just read the US article on JJB. I take back what I said in my previous 2 posts. JA still cares only about her own image, fcuk everybody else’s. Had the article not include some ugly details about her, and only talked about the Brad&Shiloh meeting, nothing would have been denied.

Interesting topic… can ‘the girl next door’ be a person of color?

Short answer… yes, but only in their own neighborhoods and homes, it seems. Sometimes on the job, too. But for some reason, there is a need for people of color to justify being ‘normal’ and ‘typical’, both to the majority population and to whatever ‘community’ we belong to. ‘A girl next door’ doesn’t have to explain herself, ever; therefore, if a person of color has to jump through hoops for, whatever, why jump through hoops just to be routine or run-of-the-mill?

Yes, our community seems to fall back on the oversexual female a bit too much, which is ironic, given that a majority of us refuse to do sexual acts that others considered mandatory or a foregone conclusion. But, for some reason, the majority hangs on to the lie. I remember Lena Horne talking how a bubblebath scene in Cabin in the Sky, which comprised of just her head and shoulders, was banned because it was construed as too sexual; meanwhile, Cyd Charisse and dozens of other leggy dancers can dance through mounds of bubbles and suds in barely there clothing.

As for Tyra talking about ‘girl next door’, she doesn’t want to be next door; she wants to be herself, but more marketable.

Good points, Piper. The phrase “girl next door” is not something I ever heard in real life when growing up. It was a concept that was applied to white teenagers on tv sitcoms. The few black sitcoms that there were never referred to the sister or daughter of the neighbor in that way, but they’d also go to great pains to not make the sister overtly sexual. Let’s go into the way back machine for “Good Times”. Was Thelma ever referred to as “the girl next door”? No. Although going by the criteria laid forth earlier, you could certainly make a case for her having been one.

If you look at the daughters on the Cosby show, they could pretty much all qualify for the moniker “girl next door”. However, as I said earlier, some leaders in the black community called the show “Unce Tom-ish” and not representative of the average African American’s life. Cosby caught a lot of flack for saying “Black people are just like white people” - and it was mainly from within his own ethnic group!

BTW - you killed me with the Lena Horne story! I’d completely forgotten I’d read that before. And what about the fit people threw when Dorothy Dandridge did “Carmen Jones”? No way could they have a woman of color being so sexual and OWNING her own sexuality. It was considered scandalous. Yet at the same time it was the beginning of Doris Day’s run as the “Girl next door grows up” era. Her girl next door was allowed to grow up flirt and be sexually active or blatantly interested in men…BUT…she was still the girl next door who had to be protected and cossetted from the big bad world.
