Older“Sweeney Todd” Movie Stills

Here are two production photos for the Tim Burton-directed Sweeney Todd, the silver-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical thriller.

The production stills, though few, really look good.
I am wondering though how Johnny Depp will do playing an “evil” character. I don’t recall him ever playing a character like this before. Usually his characters are pretty, earnest, or comedic.

Not sure I’d call Sweeney “evil”. Mrs. Lovett, Judge Turpin, and Beadle Bamford are far more evil. Sweeney’s just a vengeful victim :P. Johnny will either pull it off really well, or it’ll be bad. I loved the musical, so here’s hoping!

Wow - only heard this morning that this movie has been made and will be released soon. I NEEEEEDDDDD to book tickets as soon as I can. If it’s anywhere as good as the stage version it will be fantastic and with such a great cast it has all the makings. Listening to the soundtrack now whist writing this.

You could not find a better director then Tim Burton to direct the movie version of this Dark yet Majestic Stephen Sondheim Musical. I have no doubts that this movie is going to be truly amazing. Even though it may be a little early to talk Academy Awards, I do feel that the 2008 Academy Awards will be Johnny Depp’s year to win.
i love helena bonham carter, shes my fave actress!! i love johnny depp too!!! this is going to be a great movie!!! i can assure you!!! especialy if its done by tim burton!!!! that man is the best!!!!!
