Brad Pitt Goes Global Green — Part II

Here’s the second batch of Brad Pitt pictures (Part I here) from Global Green USA’s first house project at the Holy Cross Neigborhood association project in New Orleans’s hard-hit Ninth Ward District in Louisiana.

“There’s so much of this culture here that is unlike any other city that we have,” he said. “It’s a feeling that I can’t quite explain, but I love being a part of it.”

Continued Brad, “It’s hard to find an overall victory when you see how slowly everything is still moving. And Katrina was a man-made disaster. This house is a man-made solution.”

“We knew we couldn’t bring back the families and friends that were lost, bring back the heirlooms, the pictures,” Pitt added. “But maybe, in the process of rebuilding, we could build something smarter, and create a better way of life for those people who live here.”

“My family and I are very happy to be back here in this great city. We love it here very much,” said Pitt, who settled in New Orleans with Angelina Jolie and their children earlier this year while he was filming The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

There is good coming out of this project.

1) Not only did Brad lend his name on this project, he also gave ideas and involved in the planning . Bravo to you, Brad.

2) This project is also in partnership with Home Depot foundation. To be able to get Home Depot on board gives much credence. The foundation doesnt just partner with any project unless they feel it’s worthwhile.

3) I’m happy that the media is following Brad to New Orleans. It gives much media exposure to New Orleans, a city which is still recovering from the devastating Katrina.

Brad Pitt Calls New Orleans Green Project a ‘Small Victory’

Brad Pitt stopped by the construction site of his environmentally friendly housing project in New Orleans on Tuesday, calling the enterprise “a small little victory.”

“It’s hard to claim an overall victory when you see how slowly it’s still moving,” Pitt tells PEOPLE of the housing project, which is slated for completion next year, built in cooperation with Global Green and the Home Depot Foundation. “[Hurricane] Katrina was a man-made disaster. This house here is a man-made solution.”

By this time next year, the five single-family homes and approximately 18 apartments should be able to house up to 23 families - all using green building materials and including energy-saving appliances, dual windows and high-efficiency light bulbs. The building project broke ground last May.

“My family and I are very happy to be back here in this great city. We love it here very much,” said Pitt, who settled in New Orleans with Angelina Jolie and their children earlier this year while he was filming The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

After the disaster, which displaced entire communities, Pitt says: “We knew we couldn’t bring back the families and friends who were lost, bring back the heirlooms and pictures, but maybe, in the process of rebuilding, we could build something smarter to create a better way of life.”

Of the housing project Pitt said, “There will be a family living in here a year from now, and this is a home that treats them with dignity, with respect, that is conscious of their quality of life.”

Hi to all fellow fans… guli, briseis, Ate Cha, real tita, jjoy, anustin, & others. Howdy! i have no time to post but overall I still read most posts.

The Toronto International Film Festival are delaying the announcement of the actors that will grace this year’s festival. Insteadof today, they will release it by tomorrow. I will let you all know. Promise.

Well I gotta go & be back later in the evening. See y’all.

Loe Brad & Angie. Their eagerness to help others really get them closer than ever. Happy for them.

I Love the way this man speaks,he is so compassionate, you don’t see that to often anymore.BLESSINGS AND PRAYERS TO THE JOLIE-PITTS.

“I understand the stats, and I understand the technology in what we were after. But I feel something much more different and much more personal when I walk through it, and that is: I feel the family that’s going to live there. And I understand that from a father’s perspective. And he’s going to know that his kids are living in a healthy environment,” Pitt said.
