Miss South Carolina, Lauren Caitlin Upton, gave the FUNNIEST response during last night’s Miss Teen USA pageant!!!!
Host Mario Lopez stood by as she was asked, “Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can’t locate the U.S. on a world map. Why do you think this is?”
Miss South Carolina answered, “I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uhmmm, some people out there in our nation don’t have maps and uh, I believe that our, I, education like such as uh, South Africa, and uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uhhh, our education over here in the US should help the US, uh, should help South Africa, it should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future, for us.”

THE OTHER GIRLS WERE ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THINGS TEENAGERS WOULD KNOW ABOUT I THINK ONE GIRL WAS ASK HOW DO KNOW YOU ARE AN ADULT? THE GIRL REPLIED WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG WITHOUT ASKING YOUR PARENTS. HOW BOGUS IS THAT ****??? SO WHAT ANY 5 YEAR OLD WHO KNOWS RIGHT FROM WRONG WITHOUT ASKING MOMMY IS AN ADULT………. I MEAN THE OTHER GIRLS WERE ASK SIMPLE QUESTIONS NOT A QUESTION ABOUT EDUCATION OR POLITICS SO I MEAN YOU REALLY CANT SAY LAUREN IS STUPID. I FEEL SHE GOT SCREWED AND I THINK THE OTHER JUDGES DID TO BECAUSE EVEN WITH THAT HORRIBLE ANSWER SHE STILL CAME IN 3RD AND THAT ISNT BAD OUT OF 51 CONTESTANTS. If she had a coach, I believe he gave her a few “typical and neutral” answers to say, and as she must not have understood the question, she might have decided to mix ALL the answers she had to learn. I bet she was sure she did a good job !! lol, EXCELLENT !!
I am in shock, not at her stupid answer but at the fact that 1/5th of Americans don’t know where their own country is!!!
Oh My God, is that supposed to be an answer? It even passed for an answer if the girl won the third place. But hey, I have noticed many times that the first three girls at such contests are never the best and you will always see much prettier and possibly smarter contestants left out at the end. Don’t blame it on her - blame it on jury that decided that she was the third best in the country.

Wow! She’s about as “smart” as a dead person.
Wow……. and it only seems to be getting worse… I highly recommend everyone watch the movie Idiocracy (written and directed by Mike Judge, same guy that did Office Space and King of the Hill). The movie pretty much sums up where “U.S Americans” are headed (and the rest of the world too if non-Americans keep importing American culture). Some conspiracy theorists say this movie was suppressed because it goes to far in exposing certain things about American culture (check the wikipedia entry on ‘idiocracy’)

Poor girl-must’ve been nervous-next time dear child, repeat the question in the answer and then ad-lib-ie- I believe most recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can’t locate the U.S. on a world map because the Americans who were polled were probably under 5 years old. I believe it’s necessary to first ascertain where the polls were done and what specific age groups were polled. Perhaps they polled three and five year olds, I don’t know. However, I believe if a large population of american adults were given the opportunity, they could find the US on a map.”
