OlderAngelina Jolie Visits Iraq
UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie traveled to Iraq and Syria to see first-hand the humanitarian needs there — the plight of hundreds of thousands of families uprooted by the ongoing conflict in Iraq.
According to UNHCR, “Yesterday in Damascus (Syria), Jolie visited a UNHCR registration center and spent hours talking to Iraqi refugees in their homes. Today, she crossed into Iraq to visit 1,200 refugees trapped in a makeshift camp at the border, unable to flee Iraq, and later watched scores of Iraqis crossing into Syria at a border checkpoint.”
“I have come to Syria and Iraq to help draw attention to this humanitarian crisis and to urge governments to increase their support for UNHCR and its partners,” Angelina said. “My sole purpose in both countries is to highlight the plight of those uprooted by the war in Iraq.”
After talking with stranded refugees at Iraq’s Al Waleed camp on Tuesday, Angie said: “it is absolutely essential that the ongoing debate about Iraq’s future includes plans for addressing the enormous humanitarian consequences these people face.”
While in Iraq, Jolie also took the time to privately visit US troops and other Multi-National Forces based in the area.

So easy to talk about Iraq qhile we’re siting in our houses or offices, so easy to talk, trash and fight about Iraq while we have, clean water, great food, a good computer and LOTS of free times.
So easy to attack and trash people we´ll ever met and pretend we know something.
So easy ….
All while real people are dying, getting raped, losing their homes, getting wounded, etc.
I lived in war zones, part of my family is dead because of war.
I’m not the biggest fan of Jolie but she’s there so I’won’t say a thing. I really don’t car about her intentions, either way no one had clean intentions, not goverments, not politicians, not the UN, not the companies..
That’s how our world works.
Again very easy to talk when you’re sitting in your house probably with a drink and food next to you.

Most Americans in their 20’s do not vote. She is in the norm. To penalize solely her for that is absurd. That remark was made a long time ago. I would not be surprised if she does vote now. you can do absentee ballots. you don’t have to go to a polling place. She has also been astute enough to know whoever she does support she will keep to herself. George Clooney learned that the hard way when he supported his father and there was a Hollywood backlash even though his father never lived in “Hollywood”.
I am sure she is already back. That is how you do it for any ones safety. She has always supported the troops and never said anything remotely anti-troops. No non-famous people can’t meet politicians but we can write. A writing campaign is very effective. Let the administration know that we ahve to do more for the refugessa nd particularly the Irags that helped americans.

I lived in war about 8 years and I never tried to trash what other people did in my country.b/c I believe doing alittle things is much better than doing nothing.I myself with my eyes saw how much some of the people became happy when some people from UN came to their country and talked with them.b/c they think that although they can`t do many thing for them but they for sure are some kind of things that can related them to people in other country.yes sadlyun becomes some kind of politics goods but the things that this UN people see in war country for sure changed their mind and I think if you have a big goal you should try to catch it little by little.
and for your information b/c it seems your information is just limited in what some tv channels say,although Iraq seems safe but still it has some places which are enough dangerous and you think just escorting with some troops or BG in Iraq make you safe no not at all.it is worst b/c terrorist always try to kill troops and escorted group in baghdad so even If they took them in safe places you should know there is always a risk about going to war zone.
