Nicole Kidman bares all for the October 2007 cover of Vanity Fair, as photographed by Patrick Demarchelier. Here are some highlights:
On her miscarriage while still married to then-husband Tom Cruise: “From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies. And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that’s when it came that we would adopt Bella.”
On hubby Keith Urban’s rehab stint: “I’ve learned an enormous amount having a relationship with someone who is in recovery. I’m more than willing to walk it with him. … We were in a very, very, very bad, painful place and have managed to step through it, and I hope that gives some people some hope who may be in the same place. And that’s enough said. Anything else is overindulgent and unnecessary right now.”
On handling a long-distance relationship: “Two weeks is still too long for us (to be apart). We like one week. We start to hurt after seven days.”
On having kids with Urban.: “I’m yearning to have one. I think I would be very sad if I wasn’t able to have a baby. Keith knows I want one, and he has been getting there slowly.”
On her children with ex Tom Cruise: Isabella, 14, and Connor, 12: “I called Tom (from Australia) and said, ‘Guess what? Bella wants blue hair.’ I go with my daughter to the hair salon to get it dyed blue, and I look at her and I think, My God, it’s cool!”
On her personality traits: “I get engaged and I get married — that’s my thing,” Kidman says after revealing that she was engaged to a man she declined to identify after her split from Cruise and before she hooked up with Urban. “I wasn’t ready. We weren’t ready.”
Nicole’s Vanity Fair issue hits newsstands in NY/LA on Wednesday and nationwide September 11. The baby-in-the-jacket shot is the hotness!!!! (It’s her niece Sybella.)

Based on VF, at age 23, that would have been 1990. Nicole wanted to have babies, but suffered a miscarriage.
Some women I know who had miscarriages would wait a little while before trying again. Different women react differently to the trauma of a miscarriage.
So two years after her miscarriage,in 1992, she might have given that interview to Hello! “I’m not opposed to having children. I definitely want them at some stage. Just not right now.”
Ah yea pr person - been there - done that. I miscarried with my first pregnancy! I spend time with the kids I have now and don’t need to dwell on the past!
Well, good for you, Nat. Perhaps you’re up for “Mother of the Year” award. Lol….

I love Nic, I think she’s a classic beauty, and as far as the cover of the magazine is concerned, not my favorite, although she’s already, or nearly 40, if you’ve got it flaunt it I suppose :)

I have talked to people who have worked with her (I work in a related media). They say she is one of the hardest working actresses in the business. Always does her research and knows her lines and gracefully does take after take without complaint.
They also said she talks to her kids daily, emails them constantly (although both she and Tom do limit internet access because of the cruel things that are written about them both), and with regards to Keith and the kids–she sees them a lot more than the press documents. She either owns or rents a private jet and can be with them or Keith in an instant and vice versa.
You know if she had physical custody of the kids, no one would say a word about Tom not seeing them every day. In fact, most of the blog comments don’t say a word about Tom not being with the kids. How hypocritical is that. After the divorce she had the kids until as a unit (Tom, Nicole and Bella and Connor) they all decided Tom was the better parent to live with. What is wrong with that? Much better than an acrimonious custody battle. And she apparently according to my sources and reading between the lines is really happy they have Katie as a stepmother. Bravo Nicole for taking the high road.
But I’m glad you believe everything you read and can speak with authority about her even tho you have never met her and don’t appear to know people who have.
Before my mum had me,she had a misscariage,which was of course very painful!After a while she got me but sometimes we still talk about it so she can get it of her chest,so I don’t see why still talking a bout it after a long time is wrong.Every women deals with it in a diffrent way with it but there just is no “Right”way to do it!So nothing wrong with Nicoles statement!

that’s the first thing i thought when i saw that, the suri thing…
and i really don’t think she had work done, high quality close up pics of her always show her definite signs of aging, esp with a good amount of wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, i would hope if someone were to spend so much money getting something done, they wouldn’t bother to leave the wrinkles

What you wrote is consistent with what I heard from a friend in the entertainment field. I might add that she’s known to be ALWAYS showing up on time on her film sets, and is very courteous to her co-workers.
Nicole should have been married to Prince Albert of Monaco in first place. She was perfect match for him, BLOND, graceful, very beautiful and eternal young (thanks for botoxs).
She could have fulfilled the shoes of Prince Grace of Monaco somehow and she didn’t also have to have kids. She is kind of used to these kind of guys !??!!
Is it just me remembers her being heavily pregnant then losing the child?
Ever since I’ve found the whispers about why she adopted annoying. Probably more so as I miscarried several times myself (early). Got kids now though. Good luck to Nicole, she’s getting on a bit but she wouldn’t be the first woman who gets lucky 20 years after first trying.

I always liked Nicole, as an actress and as a person. Many people envy her, as they envy Angelina…ok you have the right to your opinion, but you should respect people and not say stupid and rude thing about them!

When she talks and is so open like this it makes me realize how much I enjoy and miss her. I’m blown away by her acting talent and always admired her once fun personality. Then she shut down, understandably. I think she’s waaay too good for Keith and wish George Clooney had wised up and connected with her. They would’ve been a great match.

As a Keith fan, I don’t think she’s waaay too good for him. Keith is a decent, caring, hardworking man with a heart of gold and he worships the ground she walks on. He has had his problems, but he has faced up to them like a man. She is blessed to have him.
Nicole’s sister is going through a divorce right now and obviously Nicole is trying to spend as much time as she can with her sister to help her through the divorce. The baby in this photo was born right before or right after the marriage ended. Nicole is just being a caring sister and including her sister to probably take her sisters mind off her troubles.
For all the haters of Tom Cruise !!! Nicole FINALLY ADMITTED SHE SUFFERED A MISCARRIAGE IN THE BEGINNING OF THEIR MARRIAGE and it’s why they adopted Bella !!!!! I knew it !

Is there anybody that didn’t know she suffered a miscarriage early in the marriage… So what… My sister had two miscarriges before she had her first child. I’m sure it was stressful being married to a control freak who wants everything to appear perfect at all times. Notice she won’t discuss what caused the miscarriage though. She said that might come out someday….
