OlderJude Law Arrested!!!
Jude Law was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted paparazzi outside his London home. The British actor turned himself in, was fingerprinted and bailed to return next month.
A police spokesman said: “A 34-year-old man from Maida Vale was arrested yesterday on suspicion of actual bodily harm after voluntarily attending a London police station.
“The arrest followed an allegation of assault yesterday at a residential address in Maida Vale.
“The 34-year-old man was released on bail to a date in October pending further inquiries.”

UPDATE: Jude’s rep tells Us Weekly that Jude was not arrested: “I can confirm that Jude Law voluntarily attended Marylebone Police Station yesterday following an alleged incident outside his house earlier in the day. Mr Law provided police with a statement regarding his denials of allegations by a ‘paparazzi’ photographer against him and made his own allegations concerning the photographer. Jude has the utmost respect for the police and whilst this is an ongoing matter no further comment will be made.”

AFAIK Jude has never been happy being followed by the paparazzi unlike many other stars. I guess that would explain why he gets to angry when they go after his children. Obviously he should attack people but my sympathy is with him not the paparazzi. They can go home and be in peace - he can’t even walk out the door without being snapped over and over again.
I can remember a time, not so many years ago, when the children of actors/celebrities were off-limits and it was rare to see photos of them in the media. Major stars brought up their kids without the constant intrusion of the media. Today it is different and apparently the Paps have “The Right” to do what they want in the name of freedom. I am sorry but it is not right to take photos of children whoever their parents may be - and this includes the kids of Brad Pitt, who employs a small army to protect his family. Why do you think these people need to carry their children everywhere? We would all carry our kids if there were hoards of photographers just meters away from them.
Jude Law lost his temper and maybe crossed the line but he only did what any father would do to protect the privacy of his children. I cannot agree that celebrities “HAVE” to accept this as being a part of their life. Jude Law is an actor and his only duty is to ensure that his performances are good. The same applies to all the other actors who are in the same situation. We should only be interested in the TALENT AND ACTING SKILLS of these people and not their personal lives.
Of course I am not talking about Britney, Paris and the other Media-whores who seek out daily publicity.
It might be a good idea if we, the public who access the celebrity boards, simply stop using those boards who constantly publish the photographs of children like the Jolie-Pitts etc.. Perhaps then the boards would be more careful with what they publish.
When will the paps learn?
Maybe all the people are a few guilty.

Most A List stars don’t like having paps following them around, don’t get delusional. You don’t “sign up” for that.There’s a time & place for everything. There no reason to followpeople around just for the heck of it. You can’t just sh!t in the street because you feel like going. You will get a ticket of some kind. The paps know when the time is to get pictures. But no, they are not satisfied with that, they must take a pic of you taking a sh!t!!!!!!
Russell Crowe throwing a cell phone and hurting a clerk, Sean Penn some years back beating up a photographer, Gary Durdan (of CSI) attacking a photographer in New York, and Britney Spears denting a photographer’s car with an umbrella—and the list goes on. If they want to be
celebrities they should follow the examples of Matt Damon (always takes time with fans and photographers), Tom Hanks (always cordial and answers questions) and Beyonce Knowles (always friendly and available, even when vacationing with Jay-Z her boyfriend) or they should find another career. Jude Law is an egotistical self-centered skinny bigot–he cheated on his wife with his nanny and thinks he is God’s gift to the acting world and to all females.

@Nonnie - So it’s ok that the paparazzi follow his children around and stalk him right outside his house? I’m guessing Matt Damon and Tom Hanks would be quite angry if that happened to them.

Whilst I dont condone what he did, I can see why he did it. Yes, he’s an actor, hes the one that signed up for the constant media attention - his children didnt. He is protecting his kids and although physical assault isnt the best way to go about it, it may be the only way.
It seems to me that he and Sadie work quite hard to keep the kids out of the limelight and keep their life as normal as they can get it.I have yet to see Jude selling pictures of his kids or bringing them with him in public. I really feel for him on this matter. I would hate it if someone was after my kids like that!

Jude has never, ever used his kids for publicity. You will never see his kids in the pages of OK and Hello who regularly publish pics esp of the Beckhams. He has specifically forbid his wife not to include their kids in any interviews or photo ops. A lot of celebs sell their kids’ photos to the magazines but not him. The paps upset his kids especially Rudy and Iris when she was small and they would constantly follow them and take pictures of him and kids. Do you blame him? His oldest son Raff goes into hiding every time he sees the paps around.
He has repeatedly asked the paps politely not to take pictures of his kids
but they do not have any respect for privacy whatsoever. They stake his house 24/7 in London. How many pics of him have you seen taken int he early morning hours or late at night? Matt Damon as much as he is popular is not harassed by paps. Why, because his pics and his wife’s pics do not sell.
I live in LA and see celebs almost every week. It has never occurred to me to approach them, talk to them or ask for their autographs nor take their pictures.

I agree with Ria, too. To say that celebs should EXPECT this is different from saying they should ACCEPT this. I agree with whoever said paps are like hyenias. I would be embarrassed to even admit I was a paparazzo, if that’s what I had chosen as my “livelihood,” the way some of them act. Wasn’t this a big conversation back 10 years ago when Princess Diana died? Do more bad things need to happen before laws are finally enacted to stop this madness?
And another thought…with the whole You-Tube phenomenon, what’s to keep wierdos from following non-celebs around with video cameras in their faces just so they can get something wierd to put on You-Tube? How far are we from EVERYBODY being a target of somebody for the sake of entertainment? Bet you’d have a lot more people retracting their “celebs deserve it” mentality if/when they themselves become the shark-bait.
i agree with ruth. but i think its partly the publics fault because if we didnt read the trashy magazines people would not get harassed. i dont know why people have an interest in someones elses private life which shud be and remain PRIVATE. and doesnt phographing children count as paedophilia?

Children should be totally off limits…they are protected in press in other ways until they reach 18, why not with the tabs?
jude is trying to give those kids a normal life. the paps are in his face when he wakes up in the morning to get coffee…if he meets a lady friend…if he gets his car washed. they don’t leave him alone. he tolerates for himself but he won’t bend where his kids are concerned.i spoke to his assistant ben jackson once and he said the only time he gets angry is when those camera are popping away at the children. he doesn’t have security. he’s all he’s got. justin timberlake upon talking to jude one day said….i can imagine how protective you are of your children…if i see a pap near my dog…i say don’t you dare go near my dog….here we’re talking three children. i hope this is resolved quickly and that restraining orders are put up to keep the paps at a distance so as not to frighten small children. also jude doesn’t wants his kids all over the internet….there are a lot strange people out there. he shouldn’t have gotten physical but i can understand his frustration…i just hope this passes quickly. jude god bless you and good luck.
what’s the difference between having a public life and a private life? are their certain areas in the park that are private? if you walk out of your house and get snapped by paparazzi, that’s your private life. if you’re walking the red carpet that’s your public life. that’s a big difference. there’s no in between. you can’t be like one day i’ll just go out and be snapped and call it my public life cause i’m promoting a movie and then the next day do the exact same routine and call it your private life. once you’re off the red carpet or off the cinema screen your life is private!
Jude lost his temper which is not a good thing at any time but give the guy a break. He is a passionate man and I can believe he has a temper. The scum paps follow him AND HIS KIDS everywhere. They are stalkers with cameras. They have no press credentials at all. I totally sympathize with Jude. Any parent would, and I think any human being with any feeling would.
Violence doesn’t solve anything, I know. But in my heart I wish Jude had done serious damage to that human scum and teach him a lesson.
Leelee, You are wrong. By your logic, stalking couldn’t be illegal because the stalkers follow their target in the streets and in public places. But stalking IS illegal. Paparazzi are just stalkers with cameras, and to target a star’s kids is especially grievous.
