Kanye West and 50 Cent are battling it out on Rolling Stone’s next cover. The big showdown happens in less than a week when their albums drop on the same date, September 11th. Here’s an excerpt of “Who Will Be The King Of Hip-Hop?”:
“My first album was the highest-selling LP of 2003,” 50 Cent says, pointing to the fact that 2003’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ moved more than 800,000 copies in the four days after it dropped. He goes on to note that his follow-up, The Massacre, was the second-highest-selling album of 2005. “That album sold something like 1.14 million in four days. Jay-Z’s last album sold something like 1.6 total. Kanye works for Jay-Z. Kanye is a worker bee. He’s never been able to generate a fraction of the interest that I have.”

Kanye is better-looking that’s for sure but both could be thugs in those photos. I only liked one or two of 50 Cents’s songs - the one about the birthday in the club (I don’t know the name of it-ha). The music & beat is too fantastic. I’m not into rap music, but that song is a classic and great dance music.
Then again, Kanye did the one about the gold digger and it was great and had a good beat too. I also like the one about Jesus. He performed it on one of those award shows one year and it was classic.
Both should watch their mouths though. Bring it down a few notches and act like the successful gentlemen they can be. Stop the anger and making statements like they know so much. They are arrogant. They act like the world owes them something. They should be more grateful and they will be around for a long time.

Funny, rap artists are for the most part young kids who grew up in tough neighborhoods who decided the way to get out was to take a pen and paper and write words that rhyme. Whatever those words are, I think it is pretty amazing that you can look around your tough neighborhood and tell yourself, the way I am getting out is to write.
They are first and foremost writers. Jay-Z said when he was a drug dealer on the street, he used to walk around with a pen and write lyurics on a brown paper bag.
Now he is a mogul.
I say they have a strength, courage and resolve most people have not figured out how to get.

I love the cover. The people at RS are pretty smart and they understand that KW vs. 50 is the biggest story in music right now. Many country music fans want to see KC on the cover, but his album release is not the biggest story in music right now.

Personally I’m a fan of kanYe. Even though the whole whining thing from a few years back put him back a bit in my mind, its his gimmick: he’s really full of himself. On the other hand, he makes some damn good music. No matter what he’s doing it sounds different than 80% of what we here. There’s no way I could justify supporting 50 cent whose entire musical catalog sounds identical. He’s like the Nickleback of hip-hop. 50’s got talent, he just needs to diversify his music enough to have something new.

I’m glad to see that Kanye beat 50. 50 is too cocky and needed a good reality check. Don’t get me wrong, I luvs me some 50, but the way he has been treating Kanye is really upsetting. He needed to realize that Ye is not Killa Cam, Fat Joe, Jada, or Ja. He can’t off set Ye’s album sales by disrespecting and coming at him. I watched 106 and Park for the Clash of The Titans and was very surprised to see 50 basically intimidating Kanye all the way. From what I hear about Chi Town ain’t no puncks there. I know Ye hurd all that yippin and yappin 50 was doin, so he should have cleared the air. Maybe he was trying to be the bigger man or at least act like the bigger man. I watched both album sales like it was a Sunday morning Eagles game, and would like to say thanks to both for an outstanding fight till the finish.

Kanye West is definitely a better rapper than 50 Cent, not only did kanye sell 266 thousand more copies than 50, but Kanye is original, inspiring, and delivers the freshness that hip-hop and rap need.

Kanye West is original, not unlike the other rappers he has his own spice he puts in music, the rhythm, the beat, the flow, the sound, even what the song means and what it’s trying to tell us. Kanye West’s music is like old school DMC with a little bit of new school rap. Kanye not only tells us about his life but about what he believes to make him better as a person like how his songs say “Can’t tell me nothing’

What 50 Cent needs is to rap for the fans not for all the other gangsters so he looks cool. 50 Cent needs freshness and originality to do something no other rapper has done to their music.
50 Cent only cares about drugs, making the wrong choices, money, and how he seduces woman into doing things. With all his money he says he on top of the world, it’s the greatest possession he owns like his song “Ayo Technology” it’s a good song but listen to what it’s telling us and what it means.

When kanye takes a break from promoting himself like a page three girl at the film premiere, he’s capable of fashioning some of the freshest most memorable hip-hop tunes of the year. Kanye is the better rapper. 50 cent should learn from the best, which is Kanye West. Kanye should keep up his work and he will see his work pay off. Face the truth!
