Kanye West and 50 Cent are battling it out on Rolling Stone’s next cover. The big showdown happens in less than a week when their albums drop on the same date, September 11th. Here’s an excerpt of “Who Will Be The King Of Hip-Hop?”:
“My first album was the highest-selling LP of 2003,” 50 Cent says, pointing to the fact that 2003’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ moved more than 800,000 copies in the four days after it dropped. He goes on to note that his follow-up, The Massacre, was the second-highest-selling album of 2005. “That album sold something like 1.14 million in four days. Jay-Z’s last album sold something like 1.6 total. Kanye works for Jay-Z. Kanye is a worker bee. He’s never been able to generate a fraction of the interest that I have.”

Rapping is not singing…just so you kno. All it is, is poetry being said to a rhythm and adding a little music to it. Now I do understand that there is that very annoying rap that just talks about material things and sex. Well just like you and I they have the freedom to speak whatever is on their minds.
With the subject at hand, If you really listen to Kanye West’s lyrics then you wuld probably like him. 50 Cent is just walking in the very well beaten path and really didnt have to work too hard to get where he is today…I have never liked his music it is cliche-ish.
I think the ones who just rag on the both of them are just jealous that they made it in something that is seemingly so easy and you are still sitting in your little apartment or dare I say your parents house.
And as my last note… please go look up the word ghetto. Basicly we are all from a “ghetto” unless you are from a place that is very very well mixed with people of a lot of ethic groups.

50 cent has made a career out of being a thug, something that is hardly original, even hip-hop artists with middle class backgrounds, like Ja-Rule; push for the hardcore image. Kanye West didn’t do that. It is very well known that Kanye West was born middle class, he doesn’t hide it at all. He uses who he is and what he knows to write his lyrics. Which are way more inventive that 50 Cent’s standard thug-like ryhmes.
Sure Kanye West is arrogant to boot, and we all can see this is just a publicity stunt. All that aside I know that when I hit the stores on Friday, it’ll be to pick up Kanye West’s new album.

I personally hate 50 cent, I don’t think he’s a talented rapper at all, the only thing I do respect him for is his business sense. All 50 cent’s songs sound the same!! He talked so much **** about Ja Rule, but this negro songs sound like the same mainstream BS that Ja Rule was putting out!! He thinks because he has money he can talk **** about every artist out there to refocus their media attention on him!! I dont respect the person who got shot, I respect the shooter!!! i really do hope kenny beats out 50 and kanye. kenny keeps it real. it’s about the music not who’s on top of the charts or who’s going to retire. if you’re defeated one year, wouldn’t that be all the more reason to strive to better the next year? kenny makes it to the top because people like him and his music, not because they don’t like the competition. you’re online, so look up kenny chesney and see how many awards he’s won. this is a no-brainer. kenny will prevail!

i think fiftys going to win, simply because of his style of music. fiftys music is made more for people in the hood and people who came from the bottoms and people who dont care about the graphic nature of rap mainly guys. so they can relate to him. while kayne west makes music more for the females, so basically it will be who buys more guys or girls. but fifty also has alot of women fans too. if u look at a lot of the postings most of them are by females routing for kanye but most guys i know are waiting for the fifty cent album to drop. as far as a grammy there is no way that fifty cent should not have won a grammy for in tha club what rap song has been made since then that is better. there is non i can think of and his first album is label as one of the greatest albums ever get rich or die trying. its funny how people dont judge the music they judge the image of the person. good music is good music like him or not.
