Mario Testino: Let Me In!
Famed photographer Mario Testino, who most recently shot Brad Pitt for V Magazine, has a new book coming out called “Let Me In”.
The 300-page book, out Sept. 26, is Testino’s personal archive of off-screen moments in color and black and white, featuring more than 100 contemporary stars including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (and some of the kids), Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tom Ford, Adrien Brody, Kate Hudson, Claudia Schiffer, Gisele Bundchen, Michelle Pfeiffer, George Clooney, Madonna, Anjelica Huston and Matt Dillon.
The foreword was written by Nicole Kidman. The cover is shared by Demi Moore and hubby Ashton Kutcher. Check out the preview pictures below!

Brad Pitt says he is still friends with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston – and handled their breakup the best way he knew how.
“Jen and I still maintain a deep friendship and have a lot of life together that isn’t erased in any way,” the actor tells V magazine of the couple’s four-and-a-half year union, which ended in 2005.
“I don’t know how better to have handled [the split]. My view was, this was no one’s business in the end – at least in matters of the heart,” he says. “The thing guiding me then was, you don’t know how many days you have, and you need life to be everything you need it to be.”
Despite the intense attention to the couple, Pitt says he and Aniston did their best to ignore the frenzy. “The most important thing about that time was for Jen and me to figure out if – how do I put it? – if we didn’t want to go on without any outside influence. Is this where we got off? Have we taken this as far as we wanted to go?”
Adds Pitt, who now has four children with Angelina Jolie: “Those questions had to be answered before an attraction to Angie could be answered.”
Of his relationship with Jolie, 32, Pitt, 43, recalls fondly their time together when he was in Canada filming The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, which recently debuted at the Venice Film Festival.
“Angie was pregnant. It was a very nice time for us,” he says. “We stayed out in the woods by a river. We were in a big log cabin. So personally, it was a magical time.”

Everyone is laughing at him, he’s such a wuss
I still believe their marriage was in trouble for some time. I mean here is an interview Brad gave in May of 2004, people should have known there was something going on because neither have been seen out together for a while. I also remember all of the speculation by the media when a couple of outings Jen by herself she was without her wedding ring. I just think Angelina was just thrown into this mess by the media and people fell for it and made her the villian. It takes two to make a marriage work and when both have lost their desire to stay married no one can salvage it or break it down any further than it has already gone.
I’ll be glad when everyone let the past be the past and live in the present. Brad has moved on and so have Jennifer.

Honestly, no, I don’t understand you. Brad said “deep”, but you (I hope)and I and most people who will read it (or have read it) know that they might share a friendship of some sort, but “deep” it isn’t.
Now, onto Angie, for the past two days, I have read and seen (thanks youtube) Brad say very good things about Angie and his life with her. The man is committed to having a life with her and looks to life with her as his future. That’s it for me. It’s not my life to live, it’s Brad and Angie’s, and as a fan, I am satisfied with what Brad has said, but more importantly, WHAT HE’S DONE for Angie and their kids. :)

Brad said her friendship with Aniston cannot just be erased.
Brad is a gentleman and respects the friendship he shared with Aniston. He has always nice things to say.

Adoption of Vietnamese babies on the rise

VietNamNet Bridge - In March, when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt adopted a Vietnamese child, they created one of the biggest media circuses the country had ever seen. But while they were surely the most famous foreigners to adopt in Vietnam, they were hardly the only ones. With adoption is growing more difficult in China and elsewhere, many American and European adoptive parents are turning to Vietnam.
Jeff and Cerise Roth-Vinson arrived in Vietnam in late July to fulfill a longtime dream.
“We’ve been married for almost 13 years now, and we always knew that if we decided to have children, we would want to adopt,” explained Cerise.
The Roth-Vinsons were volunteers together in the U.S. Peace Corps. They live in the U.S. state of Oregon, where Jeff is a high school science teacher, and Cerise works for an international educational exchange organization.
The newest addition to their family is a little Vietnamese girl named Oriana.
“She’s six months. And just over five months when we got her. So we’ve had almost a month together,” said Cerise.
Jeff and Cerise are part of a growing wave of American parents adopting in Vietnam. Americans adopted 312 Vietnamese babies in the last six months of 2006.
In the first half of 2007, that rose to 418. U.S. Embassy officials predict it will grow to 1,000 by year’s end.
Dr. Jane Aronson, an adoption counselor in New York City, says there are a number of reasons for the rising numbers.
“The appeal for Vietnam, at this point, and it’s always been the same, is that the process is very pleasant,” Dr. Aronson said. “The process is usually between nine and 12 months, and the babies are well cared for, in small baby homes, and it’s a kind of lovely experience for people. The flexibility of the system to allow single-parent adoptions is very nice as well.”
Single parents used to look to China to adopt. But China has instituted new regulations that bar foreign single parents from adopting, as well as obese people and couples with more than two divorces between them.
Chinese babies still make up the largest number of children adopted by foreigners, but the numbers have been falling. In 2005, Americans adopted nearly 8,000 Chinese children. In 2006, that fell to 6,500, and the waiting time to get a child stands at one and a half years.
Other Asian countries, such as South Korea, have made foreign adoption more difficult as well. In Cambodia, foreign adoptions have ceased entirely because too many adoption brokers were found to be trafficking - paying parents for their babies.
Vietnam, too, had problems with trafficking for adoption in the late 1990s. The director of Vietnam’s Department of Inter-Country Adoptions, Vu Duc Long, says in 2003, the country blocked all adoptions to the U.S. and several other countries while it reformed its procedures.
Long says in the 1990s and early in this decade, there were scores of cases of adoption brokering for profit, and dozens of officials were sent to prison.
In 2005, the country introduced a new adoption system and signed a new agreement on adoptions with the United States.
The U.S. has a complicated history regarding adoptions from Vietnam. In 1975, in the waning days of the Vietnam War, American philanthropies organized Operation Babylift, which flew thousands of children to the U.S. for adoption, to escape what Americans perceived as the Communist threat.
Hundreds of those children died when one of the transport planes crashed on takeoff.
Such historical echoes were not an issue for the Roth-Vinsons. Jeff says they chose Vietnam because it is a country they could feel a connection to.
“It was very easy for us to pick Vietnam. A wonderful country, with a rich culture and history, and something that fits very well with us, since her culture, her home culture, will be a part of our life, too, for her entire lifetime, and our lifetimes, too,” said Jeff.
For Oriana Roth-Vinson, the historical issues did not seem very important, either.

Jen hens are not satisfied with Brad’s answer. What they want to hear is that even though he is now with Angie, the ex still remains as the love of his life. Just saying the ex is a friend (no matter how deep the friendhip is) is downright insulting and him saying Angie is his great love really rubs them raw. It means that all the others are now left in the dust bin of history. Put it in the right context, it is saying that of all the women he has loved (i.e. Paltry, Juliet, and Jenjen) and even putting them together, Angie quite trumps them all.
You know why they are reeling from this, a great love is the one most remembered. Think Taj Mahal ladies…the favorite got the marble edifice and a place in history while the rest of the wives got bupkus. He died of a broken heart and was buried with her. Now that is how a great love is.
This book originally came out back in February/March in Europe - I remember seeing pictures of the launch party in Paris. Man…it sure does take awhile for some books to cross over the pond!

I think Jen and Brad were right for each other at the time they were initally together. I think they were madly in love. Had he done MAMS when he and Jen first got together, or at the beginning of the marriage, he and Angie would have never been a couple. Nothing that Brad says will satisfy some people. He can scream “I love you Angie” 1000 times a day and they will not stop their whining. They will complain about the tone of his voice or something else. They are substituting what they want for what Angelina wants from Brad. They are basically unhappy that Angelina appears perfectly happy with Brad. They are unhappy with today’s Angelina, and want the version of Angeina they have in their minds to return.
Brad is notorious for saying little or nothing. When is the last time he has gone on a talk show? How often does he sit down for any type of interview unless he has a movie to promote? How often has he actually described anything of his personal life at all?
Now in a major departure from his customary behavior he does two magazine interviews and reveals more of his personal life that ever before. He does an interview in Italy and says Angelina is my great love, my best friend. Note he said his best friend. This demonstrates to me that he really truly loves Angelina and that they are extremely close to one another. That he wants people to know that. That he wants all to know that no triange ever existed. That he has stepped up to the plate and let all know that his happy golden marriage was a facade, that he and the ex mutually decided that the marriage had failed and was over, that Angelina was not a homewrecker in any way shape or form, that he chased after Angelina, that Angelina was hesitant to get involved with him. The tabs and blogs will spin and twist what Brad has said and that is the way it is. But what is important is that this intensely private man has publicly declared his love for his lady in words as well as in his actions.
If Brad was all about PR for AOJJ he would not have revealed what he did. He had to know that just the mention of the ex would bring out the miserable with their knives to cut him into tiny pieces. But it appears that he thought that it was time for him to speak, to get his viewpoint and thoughts out in public, and that is what he did. He spoke of the ex in a respectful way, he acknowledged their time together and shared past. He was way more respectful of her than she has been toward him. The deep friendship refers to that shared past.
What has set the bees off is his description of his life with the ex, the unhappiness, the dissatisfaction, the lack of focus, the lack of any shared goals. This is to them a gross violation of their image of this perfect marriage.
Now those that wordsmith all he says are the same that wordsmith all Angelina says and they will continue to do so. But it was time for Brad to speak and he has done so. The ex has been firmly put in her place in his life, in his past.
Brad said he handled his personal life concerning the divorce the best way he knew how to. That’s all any of us are able to do.

The American media is all about the benjamins, in other words money. Look at how they treat troubled people Britney Spears and now Owen Wilson. No sympathy or understanding, just pursuit. This is why they screamed trouble with Brad and Angelina when none existed. They print whatever they think will drive up their sales. It does not matter whether it is the truth or not, it is all abut money.

I think Brad fell in Love with Angelina.
I don’t think things were going well in his marriage, but he seemed content to suffer through it. After all his parents are still married. His Brother and sister are stilled married to those they love. Brad would have stayed with Jennifer forever no matter how miserable or unhappy he was. If you look at all the things Brad did during his marriage they were nothing special. Brad was going allow himself to slip into this cold, repressive state. The W magazine shoot makes so much sense now. Brad was going to suffer in his love-less marriage, Domestic Bliss, and let himself fall through it. He was gonna stay and portray that false, fake, we’re a family, a happy family BS that people were forced to go through in the 60s like he said.
Angelina comes along and she is nothing like the world that has been suffocating his life. Angelina is his breath of fresh air. That cool breeze when your in a really hot room.
Brad has always been different. Brad has always said things that were out there. Our society forgives men for things however. We certainly forgive men if they look like Brad Pitt. So what crazy things he may have said were just forgotten and we reserved ourselves to seeing him as Brad the all American golden boy. All though has made just as many controversial statements as Angelina.

So my hope is and the reason I wrote this is to say. Love has no law. You can’t restrict it from happening. I like Courtney Cox because she was honest, she said Brad fought it. Then that interviewer refused to acknowledge it, she dismissed it. Made Angelina out to be the one to get him. Made him out to be a cheater, when Courtney herself, Jen’s BFF, said he tried to fix it. Brad FOUGHT it. He fought the LOVE he felt.
What about working it out, sticking through the hard times, and all the stuff people keeping saying.

May be he couldn’t find a better way to make it sting a little less…. after all he was saying in effect that when he looked into his life and he doesnot know how many days he has left… like he might die any days and he does not want to end with x and unhappy till the end of his days. I think if Brad was being cautious he would not have left X. He threw caution to the wind to be with Angie and Madd. That is not a man protecting his carrer, or his reputation. Pitt gets his small, art films backed by big studios because he gives the studios the OC13 type movies when they want. In exchange, the big studios accept that the more important films like A Mighty Heart and now (since the studios gave in and allowed Dominick’s cut to prevail) Jesse James won’t be making money and they are fine with that because they hope for the critical acclaim.
Pitt fought the studios hard to keep Dominick’s vision for Jesse James. The studios wanted more of a shoot em up like 3:10 to Yuma but Pitt enlisted Ridley Scott to help him keep the director’s vision. This is important that some filmmaking not have to worry about Box Office. Can you imagine the brilliant movies and brilliant performances we’d never see if all that mattered were the Box Office.

I’ve read a bit of the thread, keep getting a headache when I see Poi, anyway. In one of Angie’s interviews she said one of the things she took into consideration was, what the media attention that came with being with Brad. It’s obvious she found that to be not nearly as important than following her heart! This woman has never needed anyone to validate her or express their undying love for her in the media. What happens in private is what is most important! I think Brad said all he needed to, respecting her at the same time. Almost 3 yrs and the debate goes on! He shows the world everyday what is in his heart! Why is it whenever there are beautiful pics of this family we fall into the haters game of defending? Or questioning? We knew about the what was allowed to be asked because the reporters mentioned it in their articles. This year not one reporter has noted that they were not allowed to ask Brad any question they wanted to. During TIFF last year for BABEL they were told not to ask personal questions. Not true at at the Venice or France festivals and we will see about TIFF this year.

The USA media will never really post anything too good about AJ/BP. They will accept them so far, but not all the way. Look how Angie’s trip to Iraq was ignored. Brad’s work in NO. Angie’ joing the FRC or is it RFC, haven’t written it in so long not certain. They will only praise them so much. Clinton had to mention these things. They go against the grain. Who is that actress who went with Ellen D. and was found driving in the desert? No one ever calls her a lesbian. The made-in-Alberta movie The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford will open the eighth annual Calgary International Film Festival on Sept. 20.
“We are absolutely thrilled,” said CIFF executive director Jacqueline Dupuis, who made the announcement at a special press conference to announce the opening gala presentation. “This is a real coup for Calgary. This is a very prominent film that has so many connections to Alberta and we worked very hard to get it here.”
The western, which stars Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck, shot in Alberta — which doubled for the American frontier circa 1881 — in the fall of 2005. The film used a variety of locations, including the snowcapped-peaks of Kananaskis, Fort Edmonton and Calgary’s Heritage Park.

I’m not artistic. So, I’m like looking at these photos and wondering why Mario Testino picked them for his book. I can’t really see any real artistic merit in the photos displayed by Jared.
And except for the photos of Brad, Angelina and the children, showing them in a private moment with their family, most of the other photos displayed by JJ are taken of these celebrities in a public space and well, I can’t see anything about letting anyone into the moment. Know what I mean??

Why shouldn’t he and Angelina take care of their career when it’s the thing that pays their bills and support their big family? This is their life you’re talking about so they should be able to run it themselves and screw the outsiders. They’re in show business, so you’re darn right they’re going to do PR and try to sell as many tickets as they can to their performance.
Not only that, but do you realize that there are other people who are involved in the making of a movie? Everyone gets a paycheck (even the government) so it’s in everyone’s interest that the film make money. The actors have the responsibility of selling their collective product to the public on their shoulders so they had better earn their salary. How else can they do that without doing PR?
Did anyone read this? I think he’s a man of only modest intelligence.

None of this spoiled the festival. Its attractions were so diverse and rich: if only I could be in two places at once. A scheduling conflict meant I had to miss the last minutes of Pitt’s Jesse James film, but the two-plus hours I did see confirmed it as a remarkable work.
Set in the 1880s, it looks ravishing, with muted tones recalling sepia-tinted photos of the old West. But its spirit resides in the 1970s, when several American filmmakers sought new ways to reinvigorate the western; comparisons with McCabe and Mrs Miller (1971), Days of Heaven (1978) and The Long Riders (1980) are inevitable.
The story covers the final years of outlaw Jesse James (Pitt), the most famous man in America along with Mark Twain. His elder brother Frank (Sam Shepard) having retired, Jesse lives under an alias with his family and presides over the imploding James Gang. Fearing his sidekicks are plotting his downfall,Jesse launches a series of pre-emptive strikes against them. As such, this is more like a gangster film; imagine The Sopranos in the Wild West.
Pitt plays Jesse as psychotic: charismatic, charming and fully aware of his celebrity, but also depressive and prone to fits of murderous hatred. His counterpoint is Robert Ford (Casey Affleck), a whiny, sycophantic young man with a sickly smile, an obsessive collector of clippings and dime novels about Jesse. He wants to get close to the outlaw, hoping his magnetism will rub off.
Director Andrew Dominik holds his nerve, not rushing the weighty, literate script, which aspires to epic tragedy. His major influence is Terrence Malick, and the camera often pauses to take in snowy vistas, fields of waving wheat and clouds scudding across a sky.
The masterful night-time staging of a train robbery by the James Gang is almost poetic. We shall hear more of this brooding essay on fame, legend and myth.

Sadly, that is very hard to find, although D10’s Masakala may be a choice, given his interviewing style; but E wouldn’t do that, maybe because of Brad and Sal’s level in their respective fields; the potential hissy fits by many of the E staff; and it would undermine E’s agenda.

Under the circumstances, Brad did the only gentlemanly thing he could do and frankly, had he badmouthed his ex, I would have lost some respect for him. Some of you seem to forget they were together for 7 years. They share a history that can’t easily be erased, I am sure during those 7 years, they had some good times, Brad is choosing to honor the good times that he shared with his ex.
What he said was that they both changed, they wanted different things, and they no longer shared the same vision. He found himself at a crossroad, he could have stayed in the marriage and continued to live an unfulfilled life or he could find some fulfillment in his life. He chose the latter. He is fulfilled now, he is happy, he has the kids he always wanted, he said he would not change anything, he can’t imagine life without his children by extension he can’t imagine life without Angie. What else is there to say?

Brad is not worried about box office hit, although everyone will be thankful if it become a big hit. But what important to him is his movies won’t end up like a 2 a dime movie with no substance, bad quality, shoot’em up cowboy type movie.
In my opinion he’s sacrificing a lot just to make a real quality movie which a lot of people nowadays don’t care much or too ignorant to see the real thing.

An Esquire spokesman declined to address the question directly, joking, “The only detail I can confirm is that he is not our mysterious “Sexiest Woman Alive.’” (He did confirm that it would be Pitt’s first appearance on Esquire’s cover.)See, Brad, that’s not really how it works. First you agree to do another Vanity Fair article telling the magazine that Jennifer couldn’t give you babies so you cheated on her with a woman who would birth heartbreaking little girls. Then you get on the cover of that mag, and then people go see your movie.
Spoonfeeding fluff to Esquire isn’t really gonna cut it. (Unless of course you sneak a pic of Shiloh in there to really get People’s panties in a bundle. That might get us out of the apartment to catch the flick.)
