“After weeks of mind-blowing media speculation, MTV confirms today that Britney Spears will be opening the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. Celebrating her long awaited comeback to her fans, Spears will be performing LIVE her new song “Gimme More” from her highly anticipated new album due on November 13th. The star studded awards show will air live Sunday, September 9th at 9PM Live ET/Tape delayed PT.”
Jesse Ignjatovic, the executive producer of this year’s VMAs said:
“I guess, looking back, we’ve had a great history with her. Some of the biggest TV performances [of her career] have been at the VMAs. And fortunately, [when we approached her about performing], she was into it and excited to do it. I wanted her to come on and make a statement right from the very beginning of the show. And she’ll kill it. I wanted to start the show in a very big and dramatic way, and she’s the one to do that. She’ll captivate everyone, and set the tone for the rest of the night. There’s no one better.
“You can expect the things we want and expect from Britney — that will all be there. What I’ve seen of it is great. She’ll be dancing, performing, doing her thing. That’s exactly what we all want. Fans that are familiar with her performance on previous VMAs will not be disappointed.”

She’s more a media and paparazzi entity then anything.
Ya, I think her so called performance at the VMA show is going to be a disaster. She is very unstable. I think she’s going to flop.

I think it sucks that the most anticipated performance at the VMA’s is one by someone who has to lip sync. And they did well covering their a**es by specifically saying she’ll be dancing, performing, doing her thing and NOT saying singing. How can she get up on stage and look into the eyes of all of the REAL talented singers and performers and still carry on with her act. She’ll be the laughingstock of that show, and I’ll be sitting right in front of my T.V watching it hit the fan.
Except for a lot of hair tossing and posing girl could never do much of anything-too robotic, nothing is spontaneous…

i mean she’s a publicity ***** at this point - the whole point is having people watch her. MTV is using her because they know it will be good for the ratings which I’m sure have been faltering over the last few years.

I will Tivo it that way if I get too embarrassed for her I can fast forward and hopefully catch some “real talent”

Trainwreck, but I’ll tune in just to see it. Which is what VMA’s are expecting and hoping what everyone will do. And I bet she won’t have her ass covered again. Why the girl thinks she’s got a hot bod is beyond me? Maybe she should skip Taco Bell and the Chitto’s this week so she can fit into her outfit!

I love her. She is my gulity pleasure. I want to see her nail it, lip singing and all, but I am a little worried. I hope she doesn’t just bail out, and I can see her being laughed at, but I hope it goes well. I don’t know why, but I love to watch her just like the rest of the world. Some to see her succeed and others to watch her fail, and for those of you her want her to fail, you’ll critizie her no matter how it goes. Go Brit! We want you back!!

I usually try not to say anything bad BUT I’m not a fan. I’ll watch the VMA’s and of course listen to her fake singing and watch her bad dancing. God, I just hope she doesn’t embarrass herself anymore than she already has. It’ll be interesting to see if she gets cheered or booed… maybe both?

OMG are you guys serious, i don’t know how people still like her..shes just disgusting and unstable. She doesn’t even have a good voice ontop of that, shes just hype. Her album will do horribly.
I think all of you are a bunch of haters, everyone falls off at one time or another in life. At least she is trying to get back on. I hope you make everyone eat their words. Go, girl, you are still young.
