“After weeks of mind-blowing media speculation, MTV confirms today that Britney Spears will be opening the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. Celebrating her long awaited comeback to her fans, Spears will be performing LIVE her new song “Gimme More” from her highly anticipated new album due on November 13th. The star studded awards show will air live Sunday, September 9th at 9PM Live ET/Tape delayed PT.”
Jesse Ignjatovic, the executive producer of this year’s VMAs said:
“I guess, looking back, we’ve had a great history with her. Some of the biggest TV performances [of her career] have been at the VMAs. And fortunately, [when we approached her about performing], she was into it and excited to do it. I wanted her to come on and make a statement right from the very beginning of the show. And she’ll kill it. I wanted to start the show in a very big and dramatic way, and she’s the one to do that. She’ll captivate everyone, and set the tone for the rest of the night. There’s no one better.
“You can expect the things we want and expect from Britney — that will all be there. What I’ve seen of it is great. She’ll be dancing, performing, doing her thing. That’s exactly what we all want. Fans that are familiar with her performance on previous VMAs will not be disappointed.”

so…since when does taking time off mean someone looses their talent?? she hasnt had any music out for about 4 years…..shes had all this publicity but no music to back it up…which is why people see her as a bit of a paris hilton type of traler trash “it” girl now…when she opens the VMAs I think she will remind the world that she is one of the best performers of our pop time…if she can hold her own in the charts with the likes of beyonce when she has quite a poor voice then she’s obviously doing something right…Anyway…does everyone here really believe that all the recent publicity was totally unwanted and that none of it was specificly designed to re-hash her image and act as a bridge to the next stage of her career…lets face it…she was never going to stay the innocent little virgin forever now was she…I think its all quite clever…I DO hope she isnt a total crackhead now and it IS publicity…cause if she has been rehersing and preparing for this big comeback…they will feel the energy in fcking china when she hits the stage…xx
OMG!!! I just saw Britney performed at the VMA. I can’t believe she blew that off!!! I’m sooooo disappointed :-(
omg - i can’t believe how bad that performance was…did she even break a sweat!!!! was she aware that this WAS her comeback shot??? It was terrible - beyond terrible…horrible! Was she stoned, not even trying or has she lost her ability to dance while she was out having babies??? We all know she can’t sing but the girl could always move - seems like that is past tense as well. TRAGIC PERFORMANCE - I kept waiting for something to happen but it never did…

I saw the performance and was really excited. I think time off has made her a little scared. The music and dancing was right on, I guess I wanted to see her do her old Britney moves. She was looking a little chunky.
BRITNEY - if you are reading this or someone in your camp. I still love you boo, but you have to get back to size 7, drop a cavalli costume and grow your hair in. You looked really uncomfortable up there BUT I LOVE YOU.

Her performance was horrible. She was probably crashing from those retarded diet lollipops - probably from the mutated saliva mixed in from Cris Angel. She danced like a zombie, she was lip singing - I think she must have missed her cue like 5 times throughout.
My advice. Lay low - find some love in your kids - find some baby jebus - and come back in a couple of years after all the pressure is off.
omg.. i cant believe how bad Britney did.. she looked like she had to many.. she lip synced what she could remember of her own song, she grabbed a guys crotch, couldnt remember moves, and totally bombed!!! She just had to wear underwear of coarse.. he body looked nice though.. woo hoo…. and what happened with her working with an illusionist? the only illusion was that she could have been singing, and she gave the ILLUSION that she was lip syncing.. yay
….mm and yet everyone was disappointed. i already said everything i think in the video forum… it was just awful, i dont think she was ready.
I was very disapointed with the performance. I love the song but with that someone else was singing it. I was excited, had heard great things with magic flying backup dancers and loads of fun but what we got was a trashed brittney with horrid hair ectentions(those things looked like dead blos of horse hair) She lip synced the whole thing or should i say the some of the song since she would stand there not singing but you heard her voice. And she was fat!!!! she couldn’t even get up the ledge without being lifted up. I was disipointed to the max. But i still like the song
haha she ******* sucked, I felt sorry for her! She looked like **** and the performance was ******, they were laughing at her and so was I! haha I mean really who likes her anymore!? And her hair looked nasty! More less the performance was ****** and hilarious!
lol, reading some ppl’s comments here who were really looking forward to Britney’s “comeback” performance is funny…Britney has ALWAYS been lip synching, i always thought why it was such a big deal when Ashlee was caught and not Britney…
but anyways it seems like she will never learn her lesson.
