Thank you. Gawd pidgin was the word I was thinking of and couldn’t remember. It was really a really a rhetorical question. Just saying if these people are representative of x’s she is in sad company. Laura Croft Tomb Raider is on TBS. She is one of the few actress who can do any type of movie. Neither she or Brad receive the proper credit for their acting skills. Maybe that is about to change. How many actresses can look convincing going toe to toe with a man in a fight scene? She has done it in two movies. And it didn’t look strange at all.

It may sound bad, but I think Angie might be absent from TIFF. After Brad’s Venice winning, Cograts by the way, TIFF is not that important for this movie. Angie and kids can relax and have a good rest at home.

Pitt says winning best actor award at Venice film festival ‘great fun’ by Michel Comte
TORONTO (AFP) - US star Brad Pitt on Saturday said it was “great fun” to win the Venice film festival award for best actor for his role in “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.”
“I could try to play it down, but it’s great fun,” Pitt said in Toronto, where thousands of fans packed the streets looking for a glimpse of the actor following the film’s North American premiere.
“We all have our jobs (to do) and want to be really good at it, and to have this kind of acknowledgement is a real honor,” he said.
“The nicest thing is how excited my friends are for me and … to be amongst the lineage of people that have also been bestowed this honor. It’s a really nice honor.”
The two-and-a-half-hour saga examines the infamous American outlaw’s complex relationship with his admirer turned traitor, during the last year of his life.
Since his death on April 3, 1882, Missouri-born gunslinger Jesse James has become a figure of folklore.
Being from Missouri himself, Pitt said he drew from the “cadence and the temper of how people relate there,” as well as the local dialect, for the role.
“The nice thing for me … was doing something related to the area where I grew up,” he commented.
“Every time I see (Missouri) come up on screen, it quietly gives me a little bit of pleasure. It’s just nice for me to have something that has some kind of connection to the place that shaped me.”
Of course, “The Assassination of Jesse James” was filmed in western Canada, where Pitt also filmed “The Legends of the Fall” in 1994.
Pitt also said he was grateful for his partner Angelina Jolie’s criticisms of his acting, saying: “I rely on it. She’s the best sounding board I have and I value her opinion. It pisses me off sometimes, but she’s good.”
On fame, he said: “I know the deal. I understand the trade-off. There are great perks, we get to travel and see the world. And we manage it. The only time it gets unmanageable is when it’s a full frontal assault on the kids.”
“Unfortunately, there is no line concerning family these days and that concerns me. This day and age, that’s the only thing that really bothers me.”
While in Venice, a female fan lunged at Pitt. Commenting on the incident, Pitt said: “I hadn’t been jumped like that in some time.”
“I don’t want to change my life because of paranoia. It could be pointed out that we can be very vulnerable in these situations and there are a couple of people out there maybe not playing with a full deck, but I’m not changing a thing.”

Brad really values Angelina, she is indeed his best friend as he said in Venice. Love how he says he relies on her as she is his best sounding board. There is some major trust going on between them. They are having a profound effect on one another.

“Don’t take this the wrong way, Toronto, but Hollywood loves you because you’re easy,” writes Winters Keegan in Time’s special festival edition. “Perfectly timed, impeccably organized and unfailingly kind to all varieties of movies, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has become the industry’s hottest festival ticket by acting as a kind of supportive, low-maintenance girlfriend.
“Unlike its major festival sisters – that sexy cougar Cannes, 60, and parka-clad hipster Sundance, 29 – Toronto, 32, is inclusive, friendly and even prettier once you get to know her.”
In an interview with the Star, Winters Keegan said the populist nature of the Toronto festival is what makes it a favourite of Hollywood studios and distributors.
She said Cannes and similar festivals are oriented toward critics, while Toronto is aimed at ordinary audiences and the film industry just loves to see how non-critics react to their creations.
“Hollywood’s a ghost town while the Toronto festival is on,” she said.
For actor Jodie Foster, the allure is TIFF’s mix of big and small movies.
“There’s a huge amount of movies there,” Foster, who stars in the festival movie The Brave One, told The Associated Press.
“Bigger movies and smaller movies all intersecting in the same place. The bigger movies get more coverage, but the smaller movies benefit from it.”
“Festivals are very jealous,” says producer Nick de Pencier, whose film, Manufactured Landscapes, about the work of artist Edward Burtynsky, won Best Canadian Feature Film at last year’s TIFF. “It’s a real dance that you have to do because while you’re waiting for one to make a decision – maybe a bigger one – you’re missing the deadline on several others.”
Show your film at Telluride and Sundance will turn you down cold.
“Sundance is going to say `Forget it, you’ve already played the U.S., you’re a relatively small film, you’re second-hand goods, so we’re not interested. Likewise the big European ones also want a European premiere,” says de Pencier.
Toronto is now big enough, says Handling, that it has a lot of pull.
“A lot of times people just decide to have their world premiere in Toronto. We don’t even have to pick up the phone and do that. … We’re incredibly secure in terms of where we are. This doesn’t mean that we’re complacent.”
It helps that Toronto is a cheap date. The cost of putting up an entourage in Cannes or Venice far outstrips the cost of spending a few days in Toronto. “It’s much cheaper to attend than Cannes, especially for us Yanks with our devalued dollars,” Ebert said.
To compete, festivals boast about size, stars, and exclusivity. Berlin calls itself the biggest festival, with ticket sales of 180,000; Vienna brags about focusing on arty and “challenging” films; Telluride keeps it small and exclusive and expensive – even the media must pay to attend.
Toronto has long bragged about audience participation. TIFF is a public festival, the biggest in North America, and launches the Oscar buzz.
Moviemakers are reluctant to grade festivals. They agree with Handling that comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges. Cannes takes place in Europe in May. Toronto takes place in North America in September. Venice, which launches in late August, attracts a lot of world premieres, but when it comes to the business of selling movies, Toronto dominates.
“I think it is so hard to compare the top festivals because they’re doing very different jobs,” says Handling. “I think there’s a need for two bookended festivals – one in Europe in the spring, and one in North America in the fall.”

You know…having spent most of my teenage years thinking Brad was the hottest being to walk this planet EVER. I’ve been looking at him over the last few years & he just isn’t hot to me anymore…he was so hot during Seven, Fight Club, The Mexican (in fact he was the only reason I stayed awake duing that film, it was so awful but he was beyond hot in that!) But anyway, my point is (and this is entirely my own opinion) but in the last few years his attractiveness to me has dropped considerably…think it might be me growing up & my tastes changing & also his aging cos I really don’t think he’s aging that well.
But anyway I know your all going to think I’m hating but I’m not! Just stating my opinion on his hotness factor. I actually like AJ & him together, love the kids (they are SO adorable, especially Pax & Mad!) So anyway, not hating, just saying how I miss how unbelievably hot he was in some of his older films…in fact I’m off to watch Fight Club now & drool over everyone in that film ;)

Well I can understand what you are saying but I personally don’t necessarily bind hotness and sexiness with someone’s physical appearance. If he was only that I wouldn’t be attracted by him. Although he was and still is extremely good looking there is so much more in him that I find sexy. His voice, his laugh, his humbleness, his humor, his attitude, his acting, they way he is with his kids and the fact that he has depth as a character. He was always trying to not cage him self in his “pretty boy” image although it was very difficult. And now that he is aging he is more capable to be perceived as an actor and personality and not just as a hunk and I like that a lot.
And I think he ages really gracefully. His body is still great and his face still has a boy-ish vibe with much more maturity on it. I was always his fan but I like him better now. He finally found his place.

Brad Pitt says winning Venice film festival award ‘great fun’

TORONTO : US star Brad Pitt on Saturday said it was “great fun” to win the Venice film festival award for best actor for his role in “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford”.
“I could try to play it down, but it’s great fun,” Pitt said in Toronto, where thousands of fans packed the streets looking for a glimpse of the actor following the film’s North American premiere.
“We all have our jobs (to do) and want to be really good at it, and to have this kind of acknowledgement is a real honour,” he said.
“The nicest thing is how excited my friends are for me and…to be amongst the lineage of people that have also been bestowed this honour. It’s a really nice honour.”
The two-and-a-half-hour saga examines the infamous American outlaw’s complex relationship with his admirer turned traitor, during the last year of his life.
Since his death on April 3, 1882, Missouri-born gunslinger Jesse James has become a figure of folklore.
Being from Missouri himself, Pitt said he drew from the “cadence and the temper of how people relate there,” as well as the local dialect, for the role.
“The nice thing for me…was doing something related to the area where I grew up,” he commented.
“Every time I see (Missouri) come up on screen, it quietly gives me a little bit of pleasure. It’s just nice for me to have something that has some kind of connection to the place that shaped me.”
Of course, “The Assassination of Jesse James” was filmed in western Canada, where Pitt also filmed “The Legends of the Fall” in 1994.
Pitt also said he was grateful for his partner Angelina Jolie’s criticisms of his acting, saying: “I rely on it. She’s the best sounding board I have and I value her opinion. It pisses me off sometimes, but she’s good.”

#23: dina #1: I posted last night that I was watching TR1. Thought it was strange for Angie to have so much meat on her. Got used to the fineboned elegance she’s sporting now. I liked her best when she was preggers with Shiloh. She wasn’t too thin (although the media insisted she was) and neither was she heavy. Yeah, loved her in action movies. In TR1, TR2 and MAMS, you could totally believe she was a badass. Same with Foxfire, Cyborg2, Girl Interrupted and Gia. Even in Original Sin and Gone in 60 Seconds. Geez, add in The Bone Collector and Taking Lives.
She has that quality where she can be vulnerableand naive, sassy and smart, sexy vixen, oblivious bimbette and make each role believable. Man, even in Alexander, I believed she was Collin’s mother!
