Britney Spears opened up the 2007 Video Music Awards in a bejeweled bra and panties, performing her single “Gimme More.”

Wow.. poor Britney. I tuned in just for her and I hate to say that she sucked. She looked like she was worried about tripping in those shoes, but I can’t believe she ran off stage like she did.

wow, just reading these comments — i’d put her under a suicide watch. there’s no way she’s gonna be able to absorb the criticism from this performance — esp since she was counting on it being a big part of her comeback. her downward spiral just gathered significant momentum.. very sad that it’s so public.
She was complety lost… it wasn’t a good come back to music word. She didn´t dance well, she look like she didn´t have a idea what to do… poor girl, before try to get back her career, she need to get back her life.
She looked nervous, and a bit scarred. Even, 50 cent, diddy all looked shocked at her lack of a comeback. She needs to make-up with her mom and have them help her get her career back because this performance was a set back.
She’s so over. There was no energy, enthusiasm, etc. She looked horrible in her outfit and she seemed so out of place and out of touch. Poor thing. She’s so over. I’m so disappointed.

OMG Britney was SO pathetic it’s not even funny! I’m so disappointed! Seriously. I’ve put on more energetic performances for my stuffed animals than she did just then. And what was up with Sarah Silverman? Did someone backstage forget to tell everyone that it was the real show and not dress rehearsal? WEEEEEIRD.
that performance was HORRIBLE. What kind of dancing was that? And doesnt she know that she doesnt look hot anymore wearing those kind of outfits. A couple of years ago, YEA she was way hot..not now. Geez MTV….what were you thinking with her as the opener? Someone else deserved that spot

did you see her performance!!!! It was a HOT mess!!!! I was all for it, a huge britney fan but something was wrong and then sarah silverman had to come out and fill time. She looked soooo nervous poor poor thing

Holy $&#! that sucked!! She looked like she took a qualude before her performance. Between the lipsinking, crappy dancing and the confused look on her face, it was terrible. I can’t believe they went on a limb and had her do the opening……I was really hoping for her to make a big comeback and just give a dynamic performance but what an absolute disappointment.
Oh! What happened to her dancing, granted she was never a GREAT singer, but she could dance…….one word- done.

Oh my gawd!!! I could not believe that was happening!!! She was like skipping through her routine and at some point just didn’t even attempt to move her lips!! I can’t believe they would actually let her perform such an atrocity!!

She wasn’t even trying to sing along, she barely moved. She looked like someone that had been pulled from the audience and was told to dance a little on stage and then everyone gives them a hand.
No confidence, no preparation and no talent! I was really pulling for her, too..
I love Brit, but that was a weird performance!!!! She looked so lost and stressed out!! She really looked uncomfortable!!! : ( She could’nt even lypsinc well!!!!!! Poor Brit, she needs help!!!!!
Poor, sad performance. Her weave was so bad and the “hair” looked dirty even. She was bloated in a boring sequin bikini and boots that didn’t match, per her usual fashion strategy. The song is tedious at best but it is upbeat and dancy. Too bad even that didn’t inspire an energetic performance.
The venue is small and the stage was dull, but that’s probably to Britney’s advantage here. She’s not the gal with the boa constrictor anymore, no matter how hard she tries.

ohmigod, brit’s opening performance was horrible, even her lip sync/ing don’t match her mouth moving, she can do better than that y’all.
