One man who has some explaining to do: Criss Angel. Did the magic man infuse any magic into Britney’s comeback performance at the VMAs? (If you missed it, watch Britney’s VMAs performance here).
Even the Associated Press rips into Brit’s performance:
“Somewhere, Kevin Federline is laughing.
An out-of-shape, out-of-touch Britney Spears delivered what was destined to be the most talked about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards — but for all the wrong reasons. Kicking off the show Sunday night with her new single, “Gimme More,” Spears looked bleary and unprepared — much like her recent tabloid exploits on the streets of Los Angeles.
She lazily walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching; and, perhaps most unforgivable given her once taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape.
Even the celebrity-studded audience seemed bewildered. 50 Cent looked at Spears with a confused expression; Diddy, her new best friend, was expressionless.
Some comeback.”
Hey, at least she was wearing underwear.

It was painful to watch….BUT I thought the entire show was horrible! I couldn’t even sit through it. I was happy to see Megan Fox, And Jennifer Garner….And they aren’t musicians…so that sums it up. If all of that is what is popular these days it’s no wonder I don’t listen to the radio anymore

she shouldn’t have bothered opening the show. Chris Brown should have opened it instead. he was amazing.

rumor has it that criss totally dissed her Sun morning. The MTV exec’s still wanted her to perform. They had to change the set compltely to do away with criss’s mirror tricks or something. She used the choreography that she’s been using for the new video, that she is still practicing. With all that going on and to have to make your BIG comeback, I don’t think she did half bad.
First of all, her performance wasn’t bad at all. Britney hasn’t perform in a long time in front of a huge live audience, so one can understand why she might be nervous. I thought she did a good job with the choreography but she did not show a lot of enthusiasm for the performance. A lot of people here say she might be scare or nervous, and I totally agree. Britney has been blast for everything so to see her come out and do a show like the VMAs take a lot of courage. I’m proud of her!

I am so embarrassed for britney. she should have listened to timberland. She was no where near ready for her comeback.Everyone thought she got her **** together over came everything and was ready to be britney again. All the hype that mtv put out there.That performance was horrible. 50 Cent and Diddy was shocked by that ****. She might not be able to recover from this. This could be the end of britney.
All of these untalented girls are going down. One by one. I love it. Looks fade, no talent is forever.
I am torn.
Part of me says “my god you stupid freak shitteous twerp, go home raise your kids give it up.. you are washed up. Spoiled, childish person who throws away chances that TALENTED women would DIE for. go away.”
The other part says… “poor girl. you are sick. you are scared, probably with a mental illness like bipolar, rich beyond measure with no boundaries. In a cutthroat business - can’t go to the bathroom or step outside without a flashbulb in the face. Yearning for attention and love, .”
either way… she better get out of this business and away from the shallowness, and fast.
Sarah Silverman totally make an appropriate joke regarding Britney’s children, calling them a “mistake.” That was totally uncalled for. Britney’s performance wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t the best. Give her time and practice, and she’ll be 100% better.
Sarah Sliverman should be banned from hosting anything. What an inappropriate idiot. Those jokes about the kids: uncalled for.

I mean inappropriate joke heheh. My bad. Britney was so brave to come out and perform, after so much media scrutiny. She has a lot of guts. Good for her.
Ok, so I was watching the video again and all I can think about is those contacts. Perhaps was she hidding dialated pupils?
Was that some arm pit hair or what? I think that stunk! Her makeup looked nice. Maybe she should have chosen a diferent outfit and done some practicing!
Sarah Silverman is a mean person. She doesn’t know Britney Spears and yet she call her children a mistake? What the hell is wrong with her? You don’t attack a person’s kids. You can attack an invidual like Britney but her kids? So WRONG!
i cant believe it . she had droopy eyes . like if she was high . i dont feel bad for her . no one told her to get herself into the situation that she was or is in . she had her carrer on a silver platter . she had the world in her hands . she threw it away . we gave her a second chance . he failed . no ones fault but hers . i love her song . but her performance on the VMAS was a catastrope . another whitney huston , wasted talent . oh well … hopefully she dosnt pull a anna nicole on us

That was just painful to watch. MTV clearly made the mistake of letting her open the show. They should’ve asked someone who can actually sing (rather than lip synch) and entertain the audience. Her performance was horrible! It was like watching a talent show.
I feel for her. Everyone that tries to help her she pushes away. For whatever her reasons right now she doesn’t want to hear the truth and doesn’t surround herself with people that really care about her - and if they do care they are not permitted to say anything to help because they know they will be out the door in a flash. But give the girl credit - she is really trying. The late night partying needs to take a back burner though. Didn’t Lindsey Lohan do some of these same dance moves in Mean Girls - on the highschool stage dressed in Santa costume? Lindsey nailed the moves.
The crowd was booing Sarah Silverman when she make the joke regarding Britney’s children. And I heard people yell out “we love Britney.” Sarah is a total bi***tch.
I wanted to crawl under a rock before Britney had barely finnished performing. She was just walking on stage in slow motion and nothing ,more. Britney was barely singing and dancing, what the the head mic was for?
I’m hoping that Cris Angel walked out on their performance and that explains Brit’s lack of enthusiasm. I can understand the position when somebody lets you down at the last moinute, and that is probably why Brithad to come with something to fulfill her obligation at the VMA and she looked unrehearsed. I’m wishing too that she doesn’t end up a la Anna Nicole.
“A source tells X17 Brit found out about Sarah Silverman’s crappy line about Britney’s babies just moments before she took the stage to perform “Gimme More.” Needless to say, Britney was PISSED! … as any mom would be. Britney was so upset she walked through her performance just to get it over with (despite encouragement from her friends to skip out on it all together). She held up her end of the bargain and got a major slap in the face from Sarah and our source tells us she cried backstage after hearing Mizz Silverman’s monologue.”
The reason Britney was so upset during her performance was because she overheard Sarah Silverman’s monologue minutes earlier. MTV promised Sarah would not go ahead and diss Britney’s kids, but she did it anyway. That’s why she was distracted!
Sarah Silverman was classless.
