Jude Law is Hamlet
Jude Law walks the red carpet at the North American premiere screening of Sleuth during the Toronto International Film Festival 2007 held at the Roy Thomson Hall on Monday.
It was announced earlier this week that Jude will play the title role in a revival of “Shakespeare’s greatest play,” Hamlet. Under the direction of Kenneth Branagh at London’s West End, Jude will play the role in 2009 as part of a one-year Donmar Warehouse season at the nearby Wyndham’s Theatre.
Mr. Law was last seen on the London stage playing Doctor Faustus at the Young Vic in 2002.

Jude still looks mighty fine to me.luv his eyes when not bloodred from drinking to much.
Branagh is an excellent Hamlet. Let’s hope he can pass it on to jude.
Well hello Jude - you’re a cheery sight for the morning and a welcome one
anytime. Glad to be first to welcome you because you are definintely first in my heart and will always be. Thanks again Jared. I am so lookiong
forward to seeing Jude as Hamlet. When I heaerd the possibility a couple
of yeas ago I got excited and definitely was planning to go to London to
see him. It fell through and now it’s definite. It will take close to 2 yrs. But A bunch of his really loyal fans are planning to go. I am also
tremendously excited to see SLEUTH. There are conflicting reports but even
the not too complimentary ones hint at a very exciting film and very exciting performances and if something excites you, forget the nit-picking and go because you will be entertained and enjoy. and that’s what
it’s all about.I can’t forget that the Venice audience gave the movie a
standing ovation of seven and i/2 minutes.
man oh man is he one cool dude. so handsome….so elegant. …jude as hamlet……i’m buying my tickets right now. i’ll fly half way round the world to see THAT man.
IN answer to @1 - I have never seen his eyes blood-red from drinking - you
have some imagination. you rassume based on a bleary-eyed photogs take
of a situation maybe thirty feet away from him. Half the time the reports
that come with the stories are pure balderdash.
To NO.2 - I don’t think he picked Jude to get a carbon copy of what he did for the role. Each man brings something different from within themselves and from their stage persona and what Shakespeare’s immortal
words mean to them. Jude has always done this well and that is one of the
many attributes Kenneth wants to work with. They are predicting a muscular, visceral performance laced with raw emotion - I believe based
on his performance in Dr. Faustus. After all Jude is first and foremost a
stage actor and this will be a labor of love.
Jude, I love you. I’m looking forward to seeing Sleuth.

any pictures of Ben Jackson his assistant?
Nice pics of Jude…lookin’ a little stubbly, too. Guess he was in a hurry since his flight was so late…must have been a long day for him.
A poster at Popsugar said she was there at the premiere and Jude was looking so good. Sleuth kicked ass according to her.
Sandy ummm youre not the first to welcome him..duh..hi Jude
jared i forgot to thank you…you are always there for jude and his fans…as for the poster who said jude’s eyes are bleary from drinking…were you out with jude that night that you’re such a connoisseur. jude was with his children for his son rudy’s 5th birthday party…got in just in time for the premiere of sleuth. i think our baby looks damn good after an international flight and an afternoon of oreos chocolate milk and baloons probably. his life is one of contrasts….(i really don’t know what the menu was…probably pizza)
*cheers*! That’s wonderful news. I love Kenneth’s “Hamlet” and now, he’ll direct Jude. There’s another great look at “Hamlet” in “Discovering Hamlet” in which Derek Jacobi directs Kenneth in the play. I wish I could see Jude in the role!
I am from London and a jon passeh (JP)fan,,,Jude is known to get red eyes from certain liquors -hes mention it be4 years ago in a interview, check your facts be4 insulting deary.Cheers.
Nice pictures. I read that the press was really disappointed when it was announced that he wouldn’t make it to the press conference beforehand.
Thanks for the pictures Jared. I gather he was late because he stayed in London for Rudy’s birthday? That’s really just one more reason to admire the man - putting his kids before his work. IMO he looks great - as (almost) always :) I really hope I can go to London to see him as Hamlet - I’m certain it’ll be a great experience.
Jude in stage as Hamlet!. It’s a dream.
Thanks, Jared!
For me, Jude seem tired, but I seem worse after an international flight.
damn he’s lookin’ good: sleek, elegant, effortlessly glamourous. He’s almost channeling Cary Grant in some of these shots. And that’s saying something! I wish him all good things: for Sleuth, Mambo Repo & Hamlet. If I’m really really lucky and a good girl in saving my pennies, I’ll be there to see him on stage in London. Maybe not in the first row and probably not at the stage door…but there to watch & applaud.
He looks very, very good…looks a bit tired, though. Guess he’s relieved these festivals are over. Wonder if he’ll attend any of the other ones?
I do see Ben in picture 3 for those of you that are interested.
Those women that are really close to him are just staring at his eyes like they are mesmerized. I’m jealous!
I know, Belinda, I feel the same way…he’s got to be something else in person…I’d probably end up tackling him or something…and then get arrested…my family would disown me because of the publicity…I wonder, though, if it wouldn’t be worth it a little bit…hmmmm…
Yep, I think that is Ben behind him…poor Jude looks like he’s had a long day…he must have been worn out…poor baby…
He will make a yummy Hamlet! It will suit him the best! I love Kenneth Branagh’s version as well. The fact that it is going to be a Branagh production makes it even more interesting!!!! Cannot wait for it!
Yeah, Yada, and I’ll be jealous of the ones that will be there to see it. I very much doubt me getting to London…but hey, it could happen.
Jude looking fine. I hate that his ladiesman.
Branaghs production are good, hes very good at it. If I had to do theater after movies, it´d be wih him, good one jude.

Um, what?
Jude’s so fine.
He looks beautiful, though a bit tired probably from the jetlag. He got shorn too. I miss his curls.
Thanks JJared.
Daphne, I know, I love the curls!

Blog from someone who attended the Sleuth premiere last night in Toronto.
I love Jude he is looking so fine. and Sleuth is doing great!
The critics’ reviews for Sleuth have been mixed but the audience response at both Venice and TIFF seems tremendous. I am crossing my fingers this film will be a big success for Jude. He deserves it so. He is so fine.
Angie, yeah those curls… especially at the back of his neck. Kills me.
This was posted on the Sleuth IMDb board tonight…not media, just a member of the audience:
“I went to the second screening in Toronto this afternoon, quite honestly not expecting to enjoy it as I am not a Michael Caine fan. I had seen the original Sleuth many many years ago and couldn’t remember the story, beyond it being the confrontation between the husband and the lover.
It was great. Both Michael and Jude did a fantastic job and kept me riveted to the screen (not bad considering it was the third film that I had seen today). The film was full of twists and turns - made you laugh, made you jump, feel sympathy and anger towards both characters - in short it was excellent and the audience loved it judging by the applause at the end.”

I’ve posted as erica, too! (#25) hahahahahahahaha
I’ll start being ericap! (smile)

Jude on E! Daily 10 tonight.
I can’t wait to see Sleuth!
That’s a very slim cut suit. Is it my imagination or has he been wearing them skinny and tight ever since Alfie (where he looked great in every shot)?
Oh, and great news about Hamlet too.
Bagpiper, I’ve noticed the same thing. I don’t mind his clothes - slimfit suits him very well IMO - I do mind all his pointy shoes though.
jude alwayssss perfectttt
So sad that Jude made that bad decision to have an affair with his children’s nanny. We all make mistakes but whoa - that was a duzzie. Seems like he has lost a tremendous amount of popularity and credibility with the public. No wonder he was perfect in the remake of ALFIE. I thought he looked worn and haggard on the LETTERMAN SHOW not too long ago. He probably regrets some of past actions.
