Keira Knightley (in Chanel) walks the red carpet at the North American premiere of Atonement during the Toronto International Film Festival 2007 held at Elgin Theatre on Monday in Toronto, Canada.
Atonement is getting rave reviews across the board, and apparently is the “best of the fest” in Toronto. Watch the latest trailer for Atonement here.
The Seattle Times just reviewed the fantastic film: “Faithfully adapted by Christopher Hampton, it’s a movie so gorgeous its scenes virtually shimmer; its first half, set at an idyllic English country house in the 1930s, is the stuff of dreams. Keira Knightley, effortlessly adopting the sort of rapid, posh upper-class accent in which all the words seem crushed between pages of a book, is a shallow young woman in love with the housekeeper’s son (James McAvoy). An encounter with him, glimpsed by her little sister, changes their lives; as does, soon afterward, the advent of World War II.”

I like the dress too. It suits her quite well, but, I think Knightley lacks feminity. She’s boyish…, sort of. At least, to me. Perhaps that’s her charm. BTW, her nose seems to have changed a bit. It looks so narrower than the past. But maybe it’s just the magic of makeup. Did anyone notice?

WOW, an interesting dress at last!
I saw this film last Friday, it is superb! The scenes on the beach during the war are amazing, the acting is great eespecially from the little sister but the star of the film is blatently the music, it’s stunningly beautiful. Highly recommend this film :)

I saw Atonement. It’s pretty faithful to the book. I didn’t think she was all that great, to be honest. She’s only in about the first third or so of the film and I was honestly more impressed by the little girl and McAvoy. I think she ought to stick with the director Wright- he’s the one who held her hand through Pride and Prejudice, so that’s two reasonably good performances he’s gotten out of her and the only ones of her career so far.
She’s a pretty girl but she always has crap makeup done- it makes her look sick.
I think she’s one of the most overrated young actresses. Even if she’s good in Atonement- so what? Chunk that in with Pride and Prejudice and you’ve got two. Wow. Two whole good performances. When did she first become famous? Four years ago? Five? She’s one of those actors who needs really, really good material to deliver.
