OlderJolie Jets Outta the Big Apple
Proud parents Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie pick up son Maddox, 6, from the Lycee Francais School on the Upper East Side of NYC on Wednesday afternoon. Angelina, in a green shawl, waved to the throngs of adoring students and fans waiting outside the school for a Jolie-Pitts sighting.
Brad and Angie then returned to the Waldorf Astoria, where they packed up the kids — Maddox, 6, Pax, 3, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 15 months — and crammed into an Escalade.
The Jolie-Pitts rode through Central Park and Harlem before heading to Teterborough Airport in New Jersey, where the family boarded a plane and took off around 5 p.m.

Parents drop off and pick their children up all the time. Maybe, must maybe, Maddox likes having his parents do so.
I’m just curious why everyone thinks these actors are great parents. Last time I checked. Kids want love discipline security and a place called home (besides a 747 jet). Not a life on the fast lane. Yes they are really famous… However, these kids didn’t ask for this drama. If I see them drag those kids around one more city and country. I will scream!!! Did we ever think that these two aren’t the best parents? If they shuttle those kids to one more school? What kind of life is this? No stability. The mohawk trendy Maddox is going to school for a week in one city and then off to another foreign country, Los Angeles, Louisanna or wherever. We’ve heard Brad say he wants to move to Louisana What happened to that thought???? and now? … Who knows where they are going…. I don’t care if they are ACTORS working on another movie. Get a babysitter, a grandma,nanny….Brad stays at home while Angie does films. Someone has got to make sacrfiices. Don’t adopt kids if they are constantly reminded of their former lives. They need not to live like refugees.(isn’t that the point of adopting foreign kids.) This is shame. With all the unwanted American kids caught up in the foster care system we have Angie, Brad , Madonna, Sharon searching the globe for more kids. Another celebrity pastime. We ought to be ashamed for rewarding this behavior. America is so blinded by celebrity. Any rich coulple would at least give them a
home and not have them in a different hotel each week. Child protective Services need to be called . These children need guidance and a sense of security. Not a new passport at five years old. How many unwanted American children have you provided a foster home or an adoptive home for lately? Ever heard of the old saying, put up or shut up?
I wonder if they are heading off to another film festival. I think there is abother Canadian film festival that will happen soon which is close to where the movie was filmed. If Brad is finished filming his latest movie, it probably is a small role.

Matt Damon’s family travels with him and he has a 9 year old daughter and he has been all over the world the last 6 weeks promoting his new movie. So Matt and his wife are bad parents also? Will Smith’s family travels with him at all times, are he and Jada bad parents? Tom Cruise’s family always travels with him, is he a bad parent?

And they never said they will live in NOLA full time. They said they will be there as often as they can. They act for a living and have to go on locations to make movies. They are a close family that loves being together and that is a great thing.
And you must certainly have adopted children or taken foster kids in since you are such an expert. Of course not, you are just full of hot nothingness.

I’m beginning to realize the enormous fascination this family has for so many people. I live in NYC and as somebody said before on this thread we are used to celebrities, we see them all the time; but I have never seen anything like this.

I knew someone who did their best for their kids. Never mingle with other people & stays home most of the time but their offspring turns out to be a big pain the neck. So having a busy life does not guarantee a bad life for kids & them turning a trouble-maker.
Singer Bryan Adams used to live in different countries since his father is a diplomat. He moved to different countries from Asia to the Middle East. And he said he’s so grateful that he got to experience those different cultures from around the world, he turned out tolerant & accepting of other peoples beliefs, race, culture, etc.
I think the more you stay put in one place the more you become close-minded & xenophobic. It’s a big world out there, explore it & enjoy it!

I think, Get Real, that everyone wishes she was pregnant again because we can’t wait to see how impossibly gorgeous the next one will be. And, oh my, what if it’s a boy? Mass hysteria!
I think that Angelina dresses the way she does because:
1. Simplicity enhances her beauty.
2. she wants to be taken seriously, by the UN, politicians etc.
3. she doesn’t like to spend to much time thinking about it and it is easier to pack, all her cloths go together.
4 Brad is into architecture which often means a preference of simple fine lines and neutral colors, which is exactly what she wears.
And last but not least sexy is a state of mind not what you wear.

seldom do i get to post, but everytime i visit here, it’s the same old tired arguments. now we’re back to the “the kids don’t have stability” fake concern. they’re not the only traveling family and you know it. Angie has even said in an interview that her kids love traveling.
the Jolie-Pitt kids have shown that they are well-adjusted. these kids have always been behaved in front of large crowds. not once have we seen them break down or throw a tantrum.
the most important thing is that their parents love each other, their family gets to see the world together, they all learn from each other. i really believe these kids are getting the best education they can get. i wish i had the same opportunities when i was growing up.

Britney Spears shocked us with her best impersonation of a zombie in an ill-fitting bikini — but at least she wasn’t named the world’s worst dresser.
That dubious dishonor, according to People magazine’s best- and worst-dressed issue out Friday, goes to French actress Eva Green. The mag, on newstands Friday, devotes an entire page to Green, who “seems to be aiming for a galaxy far, far away” in four different disastrous looks.
“There was a lot to choose from,” said People style editor Clarissa Cruz. “It’s not just (the dresses). It’s the crazy hair, piled-on makeup, combined with these dresses.”
On the plus side, Katie Holmes emerged from the shadow of being Mrs. Tom Cruise to make People’s best dressed list. The magazine called her look “classic.”
They assigned other titles to honorees Beyonce Knowles (”the showstopper”), Cameron Diaz (”the legs”) and Penelope Cruz, Jessica Biel, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon, Gwen Stefani and Ali Larter.
No surprises among the men singled out for their style: David Beckham, Terrence Howard, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and George Clooney.
Team Brangelina topped the list of fab couples.
Spears did get called out for multiple offenses, though. Her public displays of her private parts and her impromptu head-shaving tops the “10 most shocking style moments of the year.”

New movie showdown: George Clooney tops Brad Pitt
TORONTO - Given the frenzy that surrounded George Clooney and Brad Pitt as soon as they descended upon the film festival, it would be easy to forget that they were, in fact, here to promote actual movies. Clooney’s got the edge up in that regard: his “Michael Clayton” is an old-fashioned thriller that’s proven pretty popular, thanks mostly to the star’s outstanding turn as a lawyer struggling to untangle corporate corruption.
Pitt, on the other hand, is more likely to get exposure from all the paparazzi photos than he is from his movie, “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.” He’s excellent as the titular antihero, and Casey Affleck is equally strong playing the traitorous Ford. The movie itself, however, while gorgeous to look at, is overlong and unfocused.
Also disappointing is “Elizabeth: The Golden Age,” which bizarrely folds Cate Blanchett’s fiery strength into a 16th century chick flick. (Did the Virgin Queen really obsess over romance while the Spanish Armada was threatening?) And despite its promising cast, no one makes much of an impact in “Rendition,” which stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a CIA agent battling right-wing politico Meryl Streep, who unfairly arrests Reese Witherspoon’s Egyptian-born husband.
“In the Valley of Elah,” from “Crash” director Paul Haggis, was also made with a fairly heavy hand. But you can bet money that Tommy Lee Jones’ unforgettable performance, as the weary father of an AWOL soldier, will lead directly to Oscar’s door.
Jones is also terrific in the Coen brothers’ “No Country for Old Men,” though if a nomination comes out of this movie, it’ll be for Javier Bardem, excellent as a single-minded psychopath looking for his stolen money. (Josh Brolin is the unlucky soul who’s got it, while Jones is the sheriff trying to delay the inevitable bloodshed.)
Meanwhile, every festival has its surprises, and the buzz this week is for “Juno,” a sharp comedy about teens (Ellen Page and Michael Cera) who decide to give their baby up for adoption (to Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman).
Director Jason Reitman was rewarded with one of the week’s most passionate ovations. Charmingly enough, he seemed genuinely surprised. He shouldn’t have been. Unlike many ill-fated festival faves, “Juno” actually earns its accolades

There is no school in NYC from thursday till the end of the week because of Jewish holiday (Roshasana) and next week will be another short week of the NY kids because of another jewish holiday (Yomkipur). I am sure they are going away just for a weekend. A lot of families do that. They do not want to be cramped up in the hotel all the time especially for the kids.
Or perhaps maybe they went to visit their grandparents, who knows. so STFUand get your facts first before you make a comment.

Right you are. If stability were such a key ingredient why are there so many sick and depraved people who have never moved, who have went to the same schools, had friends since childhood etc? There is no one formula for producing good citizens from our children. There are no guarantees or hard rules. I special order Tomb Raider part 1 & 2, I’ve seen a part of it on tv the other day but didn’t see the whole movie so I decided to buy the copies & keep it to myself, then later on send it to my brother in the Philippines. My 4 kids…all ended up with 2 Masters Degrees and full lives..normal. Their Father was a flyer. The 3 boys all are Military flyers..so they must have had something they loved…
The one constant in any kids life is his parents. It does not matter which hotel, motel or new town you are in..its the parents that put it all together for them.
If the parents have it “together” then the rest will fall into place.

“I’m married,” Townsend told PEOPLE this week. “I didn’t do a church wedding or anything, but we’re married. We’re husband and wife.”
“We love each other and we want to spend our lives together,” the 34-year-old actor said about his nearly seven-year relationship with Theron, 32, who he calls “the greatest woman I’ve ever met.”
“We didn’t have a ceremony,” he added. “I don’t need a certificate or the state or the church to say otherwise. So no there’s no big official story on a wedding, but we are married. … I consider her my wife and she considers me her husband.”

Here’s a thought for you Brangelina fanatics…if this couple really cares about their kids, how about taking some time off (2 or 3 years or longer) from acting (God knows they don’t need the money), and just have some stability with their kids. It’s called SACRIFICE.

to care for their children. People cut their income in half, now that’s a sacrifice.
And as for all the money they are giving…well, that’s all tax deductible.

Brad Pitt and Edward Norton Reunite for ‘State of Play’

If you’ve been waiting eight years for Edward Norton and Brad Pitt to light up the big screen again, then your wait is officially over. The two were last seen in the highly successful, mind-bending Fight Club back in 1999, and will now be appearing together in State of Play. The film looks to be another heavy hitter as it will be directed by Last King of Scotland’s Kevin MacDonald and is based off of the British miniseries bearing the same name. Variety tells us the film has been in the works for quite some time (we first reported on it here, and then here). Universal Pictures received the rights to the Paul Abbott series and Pitt was verbally on board right from the get-go (they feared throughout the script’s rewrites he would be wooed by another project, but luckily this didn’t happen).
The film is definitely asking Pitt and Norton to bring the serious acting gloves back out in a story that involves political power, murder, love affairs and the compromising of police investigations. Norton will play the politico whose future gains are thwarted by a lover’s death and Pitt plays the journalist who becomes too involved with the women in the investigation. Now if they would just cast Meat Loaf in some kind of role, we’d truly know what Peaches and Herb were singing about in ‘Reunited.’

Love Angie’s green shawl. I have them in several colors as well. They are very convenient if you are on the go. Also, really love the hair. Angie is admired all over the world for her beauty and grace inside and out. Brad was always the pretty one in the relationship prior to meeting Angie. Now, Angie is definitely more beautiful than Brad. When two are photographed together, I can’t keep my eyes off her.
As for the body, I don’t think she is too skinny. I am skinny too and people are constantly throwing, “you are too skinny!” comment. Can’t stand it! Some folks eat and eat and don’t gain weight. In fact, I thank God everyday for my fast metabolism.

COLOGNE, Germany — Michael Winterbottom’s “A Mighty Heart,” the story of Al Qaeda’s 2002 kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, has been chosen as the year’s best international literary adaptation by the Frankfurt Book Fair, organizers said Wednesday.
“A Mighty Heart” was based on the nonfiction book of the same name by Pearl’s widow, French journalist Mariane Pearl. Angelina Jolie played Mariane in the film, with Dan Futterman as Daniel Pearl.
“We chose this film because it deals with a very current and politically vital issue and, at the same time, is a plea against violence and hate,” Book Fair director Jurgen Boos said.
“A Mighty Heart” beat out Kevin Macdonald’s Oscar-winner “The Last King Of Scotland,” Todd Field’s “Little Children,” Steven Soderbergh’s “The Good German,” Richard Eyre’s “Notes on a Scandal,” Billy August’s Nelson Mandela biopic “Goodbye Bafana” and Pascale Ferran’s “Lady Chatterley” for the &euro10,000 ($14,000) award.
Winterbottom will collect his prize in person in Frankfurt on Oct. 12.
The Frankfurt Book Fair, which runs Oct. 10-14, is the world’s largest book market and has honored film adaptations since 2004. Previous winners include Francois Dupeyron’s “Monsieur Ibrahim,” Atom Egoyan’s “What Lies Beneath” and “Willenbrock,” from German director Andreas Dresen

I’m writing to come to your defense. These people that are bad mouthing you for speaking the truth either have no children or are completely oblivious to how bad it is to fly children every other day in different time zones. The school thing is hideous how Jolie-Pitts think that their children can miss a day here and there….I don’t think so. I commented almost the exact words Jason did about a week ago and you people tore into me. The truth is a lot of parents feel the way me, Jason, and Jeannine feel. There is nothing wrong with taking off for the weekend….do your thing and then come home to your family. As long as one parent is there or even a Grandmother (whatever). Keep your kids in the same time zone for at least a reasonable amount of time for God’s sake. It is a great life when you travel and experience different places BUT not every week. Give the kids a break with flying already. I think these two don’t ever want the press to think they go one day without their children but the truth is if they did I think people woould respect them more for keeping the kids stable. And for the MIlitary wife that commented - I bet a million dollars you were more stable than these two. No way did you take your 3 kids EVERY WEEK to a different time zone. You people know I’m right! There are few tales told with the somber bittersweet taste of melancholy, like that of THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD.
Why submit to a tale of melancholy – a film where you know right from the out start… Jesse James will be shot, in the back, by the coward Robert Ford.
Everyone knows that part of the story. It’s widely known that Bob Ford shot Jesse James while he was dusting or adjusting a photograph in his own living room. However, do you know why Robert Ford pulled that trigger? Do you know how well they knew each other, that Bob loved Jesse James more than any other person on the planet – and that there’s a lot more to the story than that eventual act of cowardice – which could be interpretated as an act of mercy, an act of self-defense or just an error in judgment… a mistake.
THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD is a brilliant western in that crowd. I love these films – just as I love the mythic westerns. But with this film in particular – it isn’t so much about demystifying the myth of Jesse James – as much as punctuating how tragic and sad the end of that myth was.
My favorite all time Jesse James on film is currently Brad Pitt. There’s a wild rabid dog in his eyes – there’s moments when he’s a nightmare and yet you could see why people would like him. Don’t get me wrong – I love James Keach and Tyrone Power. This particular story was done very well by director Samuel Fuller with his I SHOT JESSE JAMES, as Sam’s very first film to direct. Even James Dean played Jesse on Walter Cronkite’s amazing show, “YOU ARE THERE” – and I have to wonder what that was. I’d love to see it – just because James Dean was very definitely an actor – not unlike Brad Pitt in technique and style. But Brad’s Jesse James is a squirrelly character. He observes the room he’s in, studying anyone in it and their every move. And everyone else reacts to him – as if he’s a rattlesnake. They become still and cautious. There’s respect and fear. Nobody wants to get bit, but they all know if they spend too long with him, it’ll be an inevitability.
However, as great as Brad is as Jesse James – the actor to watch and marvel at in this film is Casey Affleck.
I know – that sounds astonishing, but it is absolutely the god’s own truth. Casey Affleck delivers the single best performance that I’ve seen thus far this year. His Robert Ford is a reprehensible little worm. There’s something about the way he plays this character that makes you want to stand up from your seat and slap the ***** around then hit him with a ******* shovel. He’s vile and disgusting. But on the surface, he’s just a nice unassuming guy. You would never really notice him. It might be that we all know he’s going to shoot Jesse James. And this story is very much about why that act was such a vile betrayal.
Casey’s Bob Ford is young. He hero worships Jesse James. The line in the trailer, “Do you want to know me or be me?” is so icky in the film, because Casey is watching. Casey’s smile is so disingenuine as to make my skin crawl. It literally gave me the heebie jeebies.

Angelina said in an interview that she’s grateful the kids like traveling. Then she laughed and said, “We’ll see how they turn out!” Yeah, it’s too early to tell. Lots of kids need stability. Then again lots of kids like going everywhere.
I hated going out of the house when I was a kid. But my two younger siblings always got excited when my mom starts putting on lipstick: “Where we going? Where we going?” So my parents dragged my sibs everywhere and I stayed home. I stayed home so much that when my younger brother got married, everyone wondered who I was! So personally I wish they’d stay put but if she says the kids enjoy it then let them use their private jets and helicopters and speed boats and 4×4s every day. It’s their money!
What else has Casey Affleck been in? I know he is the brother of Ben Affleck. I haven’t seen him in a movie so far.

Oh, and she’s always wrapped up because she knows she’s skinny. She doesn’t have an eating disorder, she’s just icky skinny. She said in an interview before that she doesn’t like her body and wonders why everyone thinks she’s hot when she thinks she looks like a boy. I think she has a thyroid disorder (you’re either skinny or fat)–her eyes kinda bulge. But that’s okay, she has very pretty eyes.
She also said that she’s so naturally thin that she has to lift weights to look more womanly. Perhaps she’s bony now because she can’t work out so much anymore, what with taking care of her huge family. But you can tell she’s healthy because she can carry two kids in her arms easily.

Angelina has had a peaceful look on her face for quite a while now- especially since Prague . I think she’s truly happy and in a very good place. She seems very fulfilled.
The only surgery Angie has had is rhinoplasty for her nose. And that was just for a minor correction. There were before and after photos on yesterday’s thread .This woman is simply GORGEOUS.

I did the same but I didn’t want to post that because the haters would have freaked. I checked Brad against all the usual suspects as far as the top Hollywood male film stars, both young and old and he’s really up there.

The last days of the outlaw Jesse James (Brad Pitt) is seen through his last big train robbery and the men involved, including Robert Ford (Casey Affleck), a young wannabe who idolizes James.
The casting of Brad Pitt as Jesse James couldn’t be more perfect as the actor should be able to understand the perks and price of global fame and the necessary paranoia that comes along with it. He’s equally strong at playing James at his most gregarious, when telling a wild anecdote from his adventures or playing with his kids, but he’s even more effective as the serious, brooding killer whose unpredictable behavior makes everyone around him sweat. After Pitt disappears for an extended period of time, the movie becomes just as much about Casey Affleck’s Robert Ford, and the young actor does a great job showing the different sides of this complex character, including the slow burn most have seen or felt as all of the light-hearted ribbing from his brother and Jesse starts to get to him.
