OlderBrad Pitt is Hollywood’s Most Wanted Man
Brad Pitt was interviewed by USA Today at the Toronto Film Festival last week. His intense character study The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford opens in limited release Friday and netted him the best-actor award at the Venice Film Festival.
On relating to his character Jesse James: “I understand the essence of paranoia. I understand being hunted, to some degree. I understand a bounty on my head. But the movie is about so much more. The real tragedy is that there was a chance he could have gotten past this moment. He’s wrestling with himself and lost that battle.”
On the Jolie-Pitts being like the Jesse James clan, which quietly shuffled from home to home to evade authorities: It’s impossible for us. We’re run out of every major city. There’s just too many paparazzi. There’s always cameras in the kids’ faces, yelling their names. Angie gets out of the car, and they take the camera down to the curb and shoot up (her skirt). It’s unbelievable. [That's why] there’s a constant negotiation in how to survive and how to maintain a family life.”
On having honed his instincts: “You develop radar. Like I know when there’s someone in the bushes 300 yards away shooting,. I know to recognize that feeling. (On the Canadian set), there was a guy in total camouflage, who commandoed his way on knee and elbow. And I know that feeling. It’s inexplicable, one of those instincts.”

Brad did not say he was in misery. In fact he says he and Angelina can handle it but he worries about the kids.

Like someone said upthread, they are kinda old for the paps & tabs to be chasing & writing about them. Brad will be what, 44? Even Angelina at 32 is kinda long in the tooth to have paps chasing her. She’s like the oldest person in those tabs. She’s not the ingenue. She has won all the major acting awards, did all the red carpet posing and preening, married men had fling with a woman, etc…all in the way past. She’s not doing anything provocative now except being with Brad, being a mom and doing her humanitarian work. Great for fans but what about the rest of the public? Kind of boring no?

This article does much to explain the closeness, the tight bond existing between Brad and Angelina. They share unique experiences and a life quite different from most. As Brad said there are constant negotiations about what others would consider the simplest things that they must deal with daily. He is being frank about their lives, not complaining, just giving a little insight as to what they must deal with. He does seem extremely concerned about the safety of Angelina and their kids, and I can well understand why. But we see them going about with their lives as best they can. Look at the behavior of people in NYC when they just bring Maddox to school or pick him up as loving parents do all over the world. If I were them I would hire a tutor for Maddox and homeschool him (and Pax and Z and Shiloh) until he is a bit older. The paps are just crazy, I had noticed that Brad always stands in front of Angelina when she is exiting a car in a dress, Now I know why.
One thing this semi isolation has done for this couple is to strengthen their love, their determination to stay together no matter what. It’s as if they are in a little boat in the middle of the sea and must cooperate and row together to reach the shore. Neither of them is going anywhere without the other, they are interdependent now, their lives and the lives of their children are melded into a solid unit.
Lainey has made it to the big time. Good for her.
