Brad Pitt plays the title role in The Assassination Of Jesse James but according to Inside Edition, Brad and Jesse are real-life relatives.
According to Eric James, a descendant of Jesse James, Brad is a distant cousin of the infamous outlaw group Dalton Gang. A Dalton apparently married an Ogle who married a Pitt.
Inside Edition informed Brad of his “criminal” past at last night’s NYC premiere, and a stunned Brad responded, “I did not know that. I’ll have to look that up.”

i just read an article about brad and angelina at apparently pro JA website…I don’t understand why some people are still fuming about Brad and Jen’s divorce…let’s face it, marriage doesn’t fail just overnight. There’s problems within the marriage over period of time that wasn’t resolved. Let it go people. Just let Brad and angelina and their kids live their lives. Let it go so Jen Aniston can also live her life. I hope she will also find her soulmate as she had said in one of her interviews in the past with Diane Sawyer that Brad is not her soulmate.

Tom Hanks and Camille Cosby (Bill Cosby’s wife) have a distant ancestor in common. One of those PBS shows found it out. They did not know. Mrs. Cosby’s maiden name is Hanks. So, it is believeable Mr. Pitt was not aware of this. Interesting and spooky. I wonder if any relation to Sandra Bullocks husband as he claims to be a Jesse James descendant. HMMMMMMM?

Recent reports suggested that they had reached the end of their two-year relationship, after Angelina hurled a glass of wine at Brad during a French holiday.
But now the chiselled star insists he and 32-year-old Angelina are planning to add to their family - adopted son Maddox, six, daughter Zahara, two, son Pax, three, and biological daughter Shiloh, one.
“Yes, we’re ready for another,” he confirms.
In a frank interview in a Toronto hotel this week - where he, Angelina and the children were attending the premiere of his new film, The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford - Brad speaks touchingly of his love for family life.
“The kids are fantastic and they sometimes get unruly and say the funniest things I’ve ever heard. Man, they’re the funniest people I’ve ever met.
“It’s strange the chaos they cause. We move into a hotel room and boom! It’s external chaos but it’s the eye of the storm, too, because it’s actually very calm. It’s calming to me.”
Brad grins at the thought of the kids waiting for him in his suite. But he turns serious as he discusses how he and Angelina try to maintain stability.
“The most important thing is to make sure we carve out our time for the kids,” he says. “We give them group time and one-on-one time, because it’s our responsibility to help shape them. So it’s fatherhood and family first, and then we slip into work.
“Angelina and I try to carve out time for ourselves, too, but if something’s got to go, it’s usually that time.”
The six Jolie-Pitts travel the world together, with the children going to school in whichever country they’re in. But Brad likes the lifestyle. “We are a very nomadic family and it works for us,” he explains.
“The value of it is that the family becomes the core and the places the kids see seep into their consciousness.
“We move well and I don’t think it’s taking its toll. We have to think about schooling but we’re in an international programme so, wherever we go, it’s the same curriculum.”
Becoming a father is Brad’s most challenging, and rewarding, role to date. But he believes paternal instinct helped him bond with his ready-made family.
“It’s a learning process and a gradual understanding of what fatherhood means - defining for yourself what kind of father you want to be and just being worthy of carrying the name of ‘father’.
“Calling yourself that and seeing yourself in those terms doesn’t happen overnight but I’m surprised how much is instinctive.
“You tell the kids something and you’re not sure they’re getting it but then you see them in action and they pick it up.”
Brad, who was married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston, has also had high-profile girlfriends including Juliette Lewis, Robin Givens and Gwyneth Paltrow. Yet he has remained down-to-earth amid the celebrity madness.
Throughout his time in the spotlight, the star, who grew up in small-town Springfield, Missouri, has often taken less stellar roles rather than cash in on his looks.

We did see at close quarters how ludicrous the whole celebrity culture was when working with Angelina,’ he says. ‘She had to have her own protection team, which rather undermined the low-key approach. So Andrew and I flew down to Namibia to visit them to talk about the project. Their pitch was for us to make it in our own way. But we weren’t sure whether she would still be up for it after filming a scene for 10 minutes where the camera wasn’t on her the whole time.
‘I began to worry that she might be getting bored, because a star like her might think she wants to be part of an ensemble, but actually she might be thinking, “Why am I acting away like crazy here when the camera is over there not filming me?” But she did get into it, to her credit.’
What was it like doing business with Brad and Angelina? ‘Surprisingly easy, though she is so striking looking - this almost unnatural beauty - I did feel a bit tongue-tied in her presence at first. I still get a thrill when I get an email from Brad - I just got one a few minutes ago.’ Over dinner that night he tells me about when he had dinner with Brad and Angelina in Cannes. ‘I was talking to my daughter on the mobile and mentioned I was sitting next to Brad. She didn’t believe me, so I handed the phone over to Brad, who spoke to her. It is weird the way rumours follow that couple around. We might say that in a lively culture there are no right answers, there are only right questions, and it seems to me that the western film is a great, traditional source of the right questions.
In Unforgiven, when the character played by Clint Eastwood starts shaking and then drops his gun, we feel that a formerly immutable version of American machismo is being questioned.
I sometimes wonder if too much of popular culture isn’t entirely about distraction and about thoughtlessness, when, at the better end, it can be the source of untold wonder. There are people who will mistake the new westerns for macho bloodbaths, for cynical Hollywood product aiming to cash in on the vaguely familiar.
One or two may be like that. But I pay homage to Pitt’s Jesse James western as a provocative form of entertainment and argument, feeling moved to pay homage all the more during times when our ethics appear so tribal.
If we watch the westerns with care, we may come out of the summer having examined something in a new way. Presumably Pitt is playing Jesse James as “Oirish” accent because of his great authenticity of his Irish traveller in “Snatch”.

Nobody knows how long they will remain in hollywood, or if they will go part time. Brad may focus on his production company. Angie has always expressed more interest in humanitarian work. But nope !!! You hate them. So you project the future( 10 years +) based on what it’s happening now.
Your post mentioned about Mad’s “self esteem, question self worth, no one is interested in the future etc.” Well, let me tell you, this is why parents come in. This is what separates good parents from bad parents. . Good parents will teach and explain to Mad what is happening and why there are paps out there . They will explain what their jobs are as actors. . If the parents teach the kids right, Mad will have learned what is superficiality, vanity, self worth, being grounded, reality etc. Looks like both Brad and Angie are good parents. There was this landlady in Calgary saying Mad had to write an apology letter when he broke the glass. There are also many instances which I cant quote them all, that the children are taught to behave well. It’s not doom and gloom. Life is not perfect. Given all these circumstances, it’s up to the parents to handle and SOLVE this to the best they can. Nothing cant be solved.
Sure, we see paps taking pics of the children going to and from school, airport, and central park. Think, there are 24 hours in one day. What is the % these children are photographed? Of course it would have been perfect to have 100 % privacy. Given the nature of their jobs, it’s impossible. But under the circumstances, the family handles well. . The family did mangage to get away anytime they find. There were many times when NO one knows where they were on vacations. The most recent example is : did any picture surface last week when they were gone a few days? No one knows where they are. In France, on vacation, they had a whole week without paps. By the time the paps caught up on them, they moved somewhere. There are many more instances !!!

I saw Extra’s coverage of the premier - called them America’s Most Beautiful Couple, and asked Brad about the whole security thing - they did something different with the security set up last night at the premiere to make things a bit safer I guess. That was the gist of it… short and sweet
ET and E channel had a short and sweet clips also. ET ask about the Oscar buzz and asked Angelina if she get worried about movie releases. She said no. They only worry about real things like family. ET mostly showed pics of Brad, Angelina and George and his new girl.
Since this is like the third RC for this movie I wasn’t expecting much coverage.

Jennifer Aniston has laughed off reports she is pregnant with Vince Vaughns baby. She said the baby could be anyones. But she did say the following:
You know what? If all these (pregnancy rumors were true), I should have had 10 babies by now, married five times. I swear when it happens, you’ll hear it. In magazine In Style , Aniston admits it took nearly a year of “hard work and soul searching” before she was ready to date again. “He [Brad] is a great actor, and I love him, so it’s wonderful to see him do his work,” Jolie raved, although she admits she doesn’t see him as a huge Hollywood star. “I see him as ‘Daddy,’” she said, smiling.
Jolie looked wide-eyed in the middle of all the camera flashes and screaming fans. “We talk often about how nice it’s going to be when we’re not as in the public eye,” said Jolie, who posed for photographers in her L’Wren Scott dress but coyly deflected questions about her ever-growing brood. “We’re like anybody - we appreciate being able to be in this business and to have had careers - and it’ll be nice when life gets quieter.”

The ‘psychological drama’ of the legendary shooting is worth an Oscar—or three!
Andrew Dominik’s The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, from his own screenplay, is based on the ironically titled novel by Ron Hansen. I say “ironically” because the very title of both the book and the movie seem to endorse the basically one-sided thrust of the only other movie I can recall seeing on the subject, Henry King’s 1939 Jesse James, from a screenplay by Nunnally Johnson, with Fox’s matinee idol Tyrone Power as the intensely idealistic Jesse, and John Carradine as the cowardly and vintagey villainous Robert Ford. Still, that was almost 70 years ago, and yet people still seem disinclined to forgive or even try to understand anyone guilty of shooting someone else in the back even if that someone else was a murderous outlaw, albeit a heroically publicized one in the meager media outlets of his time—the stone age, if you will, before movies and television.
I should at least mention at this point two other older films on the perimeters of this story, if only because of the illustrious directors involved. These are Fritz Lang’s The Return of Frank James (1940), with Henry Fonda reprising his role as the folksier, less intense James brother from the original, seeking revenge for Jesse’s murder, but settling for guiltless Production Code closure and Gene Tierney in her first screen role; and Samuel Fuller’s directorial debut, I Shot Jesse James (1949), with John Ireland as Robert Ford living in the aftermath of his infamous act, and yet also exploiting it to make a living.
Also, I must confess that I have never seen the at least titularly revisionist remake, Nicholas Ray’s The True Story of Jesse James (1957), with Robert Wagner as Jesse James, Jeffrey Hunter as Frank James, and Carradine (1906-1988) repeating his role in the original as the sneaky assassin, Robert Ford. I doubt very much, therefore, that Walter Newman’s screenplay for the Ray remake cut as wide a swath through the James legend as Mr. Dominik and Mr. Hansen do in this latest and probably for all time definitive retelling of the Jesse James-Robert Ford doubly-deadly misalliance.
I regret that I cannot give you the exact dates of the respective assassinations of Jesse James and Robert Ford. This information is in the film and, I suppose, in the book. It is unfortunately not given in the otherwise voluminous production notes, and I neglected to write it down at the one studio screening of the movie I was privileged to attend. Working on deadline, I have not had the time to consult the book, and so I must crave your indulgence to inform you of the winter of discontent that follows the last spectacular train robbery of the James Gang in 1881 when Jesse James (Brad Pitt) was a very moody 34-year-old, and Robert Ford (Casey Affleck), a newcomer to the gang who was outspokenly admiring of Jesse, was a boisterous 19-year-old. Robert had already struck out with Jesse’s ultra-skeptical brother Frank (Sam Shepard), and Jesse was only marginally less suspicious of Robert’s ardent protestations of fealty, loyalty and sincerity in his virtual adoration, after having grown up on the newspaper legends spun about Jesse during his gang’s depredations in the 1870’s.
For Mr. Pitt himself, one of the producers of the film, and its central iconic presence, Assassination is clearly more a labor of love than a routine big-money movie-star exercise. He aptly describes the project’s emphasis as “more a psychological drama than a western,” going on to say, again aptly, “It deals with the anatomy of an assassination and its consequences.”
Director Dominik amplified the intended interiority of the two lead characters and the fearful entourage around them: “One of the things I particularly like is how these characters struggle more with themselves than with each other. Each is shaping a reality to suit his desires and anxieties, and they really do not connect with one another.”
This is as strikingly true of Jesse and Robert as it is of Robert’s agonizing older brother, Charlie Ford (Sam Rockwell); Jesse’s more realistic brother, Frank; Jesse’s dutiful but quietly suspicious wife, Zee James (Mary-Louise Parker); and the bedeviled-with-doubts gang members Wood Hite (Jeremy Renner), Ed Miller (Garret Dillahunt) and **** Liddil (Paul Schneider). Indeed, if this period noirish drama has any relevance to our own time, it is in its galloping paranoia that sweeps across the still essentially empty landscape of the 1880’s West like a perpetual tornado of hate, betrayal and violence. It is also part and parcel of the pervasive negativity of the few interesting adult movies coming along in this dismally autumnal pall of our national existence.
Much of the ghostly aura of the mise-en-scène has been achieved by Mr. Dominik and his cinematographer, Roger Deakins, in the wintry Canadian prairies of Alberta and Manitoba, and the still-frontierlike cities of Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg. The production notes helpfully tell us: “The filmmakers found the empty spaces needed in the prairies and McKinnon Flats of Southern Alberta, as well as various other locations in Canada, where seemingly uninhabited expanses retain much of their original character and made them an excellent choice to double for territories like Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri and Colorado circa 1881.”
Who could have suspected back at the time of the American Revolution that the recalcitrantly unrebellious Canadians would provide convenient and comparatively less expensive background settings for Hollywood movie studios, not to mention the continent’s biggest film festival? Vive Canada! And its maple leaf and all that.
Among the large supporting cast members, James Carville, the liberal media spokesman and the brains behind Bill Clinton’s two victorious presidential elections, startled me at first in the role of Missouri’s Governor Crittenden, the mortal enemy of Jesse James, but I was quickly won over by his unquiveringly straight-faced actorish zeal. For my money, Mr. Carville is more than a match for Fred Thompson of Law and Order and the Republican Presidential Sweepstakes, but there is always the possibility that I am politically prejudiced.
I was also impressed by Nick Cave’s saloon rendition and special arrangement of “The Ballad of Jesse James” in the presence of an outraged post-assassination Robert Ford; by Ted Levine as Sheriff Timberlake; and by Sarah Lind, Zooey Deschanel, Alison Elliot, Kailin See, and Laryssa Yanchak as a bevy of far-from-unenticing female distractions from an essentially male-oriented narrative.
But not to quibble, the extraordinary expressive performers, male and female; the haunting interior and exterior conflicts; the painstaking authenticity of the period detail; and the subtly modulated mood shifts all combine to make a modern masterpiece of an old legend. All in all, Assassination is the most compelling piece of psychological drama you are likely to see in this moviegoing year. Mr. Pitt and Mr. Affleck are well worthy of Oscars. Perhaps they can share one together.

irma - I know it’s a little weird, but I guess you have to keep in mind that it is just acting… he’d be limited in the roles he could take if his fanbase never wanted to see him with a woman on screen (other than Angie).
I was wondering about how the chemistry would be between Brad and MLP in TAOJJ as she plays his wife… apparently they look like your ordinary married couple but, let’s face it, they’re not going to duplicate the chemistry that he and Angie shared in MAMS, that’s for sure.
It’s a fine line for actors - balancing out their exposure in real life with needing the viewer to suspend their disbelief in the movie theatre.

No way. Smoking makes you lose weight, not gain it. Believe me, I know. I quit cold turkey from 2 packs a day 20 years ago and went from 107 lbs to 122 lbs in two months.

Of course it would have been perfect to have 100 % privacy. Given the nature of their jobs, it’s impossible. But under the circumstances, the family handles well. . The family did mangage to get away anytime they find. There were many times when NO one knows where they were on vacations. The most recent example is : did any picture surface last week when they were gone a few days? No one knows where they are. In France, on vacation, they had a whole week without paps. By the time the paps caught up on them, they moved somewhere. There are many more instances !!!

For a movie that has sat on a shelf for two years gathering bad buzz, this quiet wow of a Western sneaks up as one hell of a satisfying surprise. Artfully exciting and compulsively watchable even at a butt-numbing 152 minutes, the film makes good on the promise New Zealand writer-director Andrew Dominik showed with Chopper in 2000. Brad Pitt totally nails it as Jesse James. He just picked up the Best Actor prize at the Venice Film Festival, and damn if he doesn’t deserve it. Pitt is built to reveal Jesse as the tabloid celeb of his day (1881). Living at home with the wife (Mary-Louise Parker) and kids under the alias Thomas Howard, when he’s not out robbing trains with brother Frank (Sam Shepard) and the gang, Jesse is one sick puppy, an insomniac given to psychotic flare-ups and shooting enemies in the back. It’s an irony that his biggest fan, the whiny nineteen-year-old hanger-on Robert Ford (the terrific Casey Affleck matches Pitt step for step), is the instrument of his doom. Adapting Ron Hansen’s 1983 novel, Dominik paints a richly detailed mosaic on locations in Calgary and Winnipeg, and you can only marvel at the visual miracles achieved by cinematographer Roger Deakins. But it’s in the scenes after Jesse’s death, when Dominik pits truth against legend, that this intimate epic shows its teeth.

tita, I read the K. poster thread from last night and she defends the JPs. The poser’K 2day is a hater troll’. I think the K. from last night came on and did’nt know someone was using the ‘K ‘name and she was posting nice reviews about Brad’s movie. And maybe micro thought she was the poser K from the daytime thread who was a hater. That’s my take.
But the JP supporting K. left, and the hater poser’K’ started posting on the new thread as ‘to micro aka anon’.
Micro did’nt know and the K.-JP supporter did’nt understand why she was being attack. The nice K. if you are out there,you are welcome.

This film is a big step for Brad Pitt. After years of being eye candy in most of his films he won a Venice Film Festival Award for Best Actor for “The Assassination of Jesse James.”
His life sure has seemed to take a turn for the better since he hooked up with Angelina.
They are now New Yorkers which means that hopefully I will run into their hotness frolicking around Central Park with their adorable brood of children.

Jaxon - I have to agree with you. I was shocked to hear that she wasn’t around during that time… I mean look at the man! He has a perfect physique. I wonder if any of his co-stars were trying to catch his attention during that time? Can you imagine being on set in the middle of nowhere, for days at a time, with all those buff guys in their body armour… whooo! Did she ever miss out - talk about being silly and stubborn.

For a movie that has sat on a shelf for two years gathering bad buzz, this quiet wow of a Western sneaks up as one hell of a satisfying surprise. Artfully exciting and compulsively watchable even at a butt-numbing 152 minutes, the film makes good on the promise New Zealand writer-director Andrew Dominik showed with Chopper in 2000. Brad Pitt totally nails it as Jesse James. He just picked up the Best Actor prize at the Venice Film Festival, and damn if he doesn’t deserve it. Pitt is built to reveal Jesse as the tabloid celeb of his day (1881). Living at home with the wife (Mary-Louise Parker) and kids under the alias Thomas Howard, when he’s not out robbing trains with brother Frank (Sam Shepard) and the gang, Jesse is one sick puppy, an insomniac given to psychotic flare-ups and shooting enemies in the back. It’s an irony that his biggest fan, the whiny nineteen-year-old hanger-on Robert Ford (the terrific Casey Affleck matches Pitt step for step), is the instrument of his doom. Adapting Ron Hansen’s 1983 novel, Dominik paints a richly detailed mosaic on locations in Calgary and Winnipeg, and you can only marvel at the visual miracles achieved by cinematographer Roger Deakins. But it’s in the scenes after Jesse’s death, when Dominik pits truth against legend, that this intimate epic shows its teeth.

Yet the psychological heart of the matter is dark, secretive, and daringly interior. This masterful Western by New Zealand filmmaker Andrew Dominik (Chopper), based on the 1983 book by Ron Hansen, dips into the genre-bending influences of wild-card Westerns from the late ’60s and ’70s like Bonnie and Clyde and Days of Heaven for its elegiacally fatalistic tone. Yet the picture emerges with something very much plaguing the 21st century on its mind — a cool acceptance of lethal paranoia as the natural state brought on by the weight of too much legend building and the warp of too much unrequited fandom. The charismatic, bank-robbing, gunslinging James, after all, was shot in the back by a puny would-be tagalong who claimed to be the gang leader’s biggest fan, and this is one rueful recounting of how it all went down. Stories about the loneliness of celebrity and the dangers of firearms rarely get starker or more mesmerizing than that.
Brad Pitt plays James with a tired-eyed, authoritative understanding of fame’s traps (he won the acting prize at the Venice Film Festival for his work), and a revelatory Casey Affleck brings Ford to life with a mature sense of an underling’s craven, fawning petulance. But so true to its own lights is Dominik’s artful creation that all the actors (the sterling cast includes a fine Sam Rockwell as Ford’s brother, Sam Shepard as Jesse’s older brother, and Mary-Louise Parker as Jesse’s wife) fit effortlessly into the larger narrative landscape, none too big for their britches. The nervy style of this newfangled Western, with its eerie, insinuating score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, is so effective that long after Pitt and Affleck have left the screen, emotional disturbance lingers like gun smoke.

I thought Viggo was so amazing in this movie. He was understated and brilliant. Luckily enough, he doesn’t care about these types of awards. Most probably Brad Pitt will get the Oscar for Jesse James. The Academy likes to reward performers for ‘real life’ characters. Just check out the last few years of awards: Idi Amin, Ray Charles, June Carter Cash, Truman Capote, etc.

Whether Angelina is pregnant or not or if they have another adoption in the works, I don’t think they are ready to tell thye world yet. So Brad is probably trying to get people to quit asking the question after he said that they were ready for their fifth child.
#361: actors tape themselves when they have love scenes especially when they have to go on top like that. Kate Beckinsale said she felt so sorry for her co-star in Underworld during their loves scenes cause he was taped too tight (they were both naked except for the tapes on their front so you wouldn’t be able to see anything from behind).
