Brad & Angelina @ ‘Darfur Now’ Premiere
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, in matching white buttondown shirts, attend the premiere and advanced screening of Darfur Now at the Dag Hammarskjoeld Auditorium at the United Nations on Thursday in New York City.
Written and directed by Ted Braun, Darfur Now explores the continued conflict in Sudan through the experiences of six people. The film will open in theaters this nationwide November 2.
Says Variety, “Conscientiously upbeat and shiny, “Darfur Now” takes a tactical approach in addressing the ongoing African genocide: Present the appallingly grim situation in Sudan through the rosy lens of activism and political awakening. Star wattage provided by Don Cheadle and George Clooney could draw audiences unfamiliar with the crisis, while slowly increasing awareness might translate into ticket sales and letters of outrage to congressmen.”

I enjoyed the GMA clip, Brad is one of the most charming , down to earth celeb. When you read his past interviews, he always talks about “sadness” I think even in one of his interviews after he split with Paltrow he went even deeper, I wonder if Brad has ever suffered from depression. Cause he has always talked about this. I also realized watching this interview and some of his interviews for Jessie James promo, that Brad is truly proud and touched to with this film because of the connection to where he grew up. He called it “home”. I think he said he was suprised how much that meant to him. I think the interview was sweet, and I perfer Diane Sawyer than Ann Curry. I think Brad likes Diane Sawyer also.

Angie and Brad bring out the best in each other and contribute to the world in a positive way. You can see how happy and fulfilled they both are. Angie has an Oscar, btw, so she doesn’t need to prove anything professionally, you jealous hags. She can devote herself to charitable causes if she wants to. It’s the other gal who’ll be cranking up rom-coms when she’s 50, still sitting around in her Goddess Circle, examining her navel. I pity her.
==========
LOL. so true. Wasn’t it sad at almost 40’s , still competing with the like of Alba, Biel, Simpson and Heigl for the girl friend role in rom-com. And still had to parade those sagging boob, butt and crotch for public attention, even Alba and Biel have shy away from those tricks.
Cate Blanchet was the same age with X , in fact 6 months younger, an Oscar awardee, multiple Oscar nomination, Mother of 2, and the next Meryl Streep.I pity Maniston .

What the fuc*k you are talking about? Brad doesn’t deserve Angelina, LMAO. Brad is way better than Angelina, she doesn’t deserve the most amazing and fantastic man Brad. She is nobody without Brad. Wait to see what she is going to do when Brad dumps her. She probably is even more miserable than JA.

One Spy Considers Himself Lucky To Have Seen THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD!
Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I plan to write about this film this week, but I’ve got two others to post first. Still, I’m looking forward to finally getting into my thoughts on this one, and I know that not everyone’s loving this, but I’m excited to have the conversation with people who do and people who don’t alike.
For now, check out this spy’s passionate report on the film:
Dear AICN Crew,
I was lucky enough to see THE ASSASINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD last night and I wanted to write in to express a few thoughts. I want to emphasize that this is less of a film review and more of an announcement because this film is a watershed moment for two people: Andrew Domink and Casey Affleck. This is simply one geek talking to a room full of geeks about some **** that they need to understand. Over the coming months as we wade into awards season, you will hear a lot about the performances that Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck give in this film, and more about them later, but the man that I want to bring to your attention is Andrew Dominik.
Many of you are probably familiar with or have at least heard of his first feature CHOPPER which introduced Eric Bana to the Hulk makers and Munich makers of the world. But here we have Andrew’s American debut, and for a second feature, the sure hand with which he directs this film is scary good. Each and every performance in this film, no matter how small, is significant and powerful. I was flattened by the strength of the smaller roles –Sam Shepard, Paul Schneider, Mary-Louise Parker, Zooey Deschanel, Garret Dillahunt – Flattened. And that credit has to go to Andrew for both his ability to cast the picture and then to go out and get the very specific moments that he needed. For example, I am convinced that Zooey was hired for one look. ONE LOOK that she gives Casey Affleck after they have their pictures taken. Dominik and Deschanel went out there and nailed her entire performance which is very short but extrememly important in Robert Ford’s character progression throughout the film.
Then there are the three main roles, Dominik’s masterwork – Pitt, Affleck, and Sam Rockwell. No one mentions Rockwell when they’re talking about this film and I don’t know why. He plays Charley Ford and every strength that you’ve ever admired him for in other films is on display here. He’s the funny brother and the more trustworthy brother and the more mature of the Ford brothers and because of this, he’s asked to carry the powder keg of Jesse James around with him always afraid that it’s about to blow up in his face. The way that he laughs at Jesse’s jokes while being deathly afraid of the man is complex. It’s almost as complex as Affleck’s performance and there are times when I think that Charley is the more cowardly of the two brothers just because Affleck’s character is so naively sure of himself. For a fan of the Brad Pitt we came to love in movies like SE7EN, 12 MONKEYS, and FIGHT CLUB, he has returned. This time, however, he’s older and more mature. There’s pain behind Pitt’s eyes now and I can see why he won the actor’s award in Venice . He is the revered man that Jesse James was and carries the same burdens. And we can imagine that he allows a little of that poison to seep into his veins as he’s playing this part. He’s crazy and ready to go off at anytime. The only thing that seems to hold Jesse together is his family, the only group of people that he knows won’t betray him. There is a moment in which Pitt and Rockwell stand at the edge of a frozen pond, all alone in the whole world, and Pitt just says, “Have you ever thought about suicide?” And we know that the thought doesn’t just cross his mind, it plagues him with every breath he takes.
What this does for Andrew Dominik, it will also do for Casey Affleck. This film will have the same ripple effect for him that Dominik’s first film had for Bana. You will not believe the intricacy that he brings to this role and the trust that Dominik must have put in him to become so sickly twisted. He is a geek. Robert Ford is a Jesse James geek and he cannot handle the fact that he is sitting with his idol. He’s like the sickening version of the SNL Chris Farley character saying, “Remember that time when you robbed that train? That was cool.” In close-up after close-up, Affleck goes from one end of his character’s spectrum to the other, and we see it all slide across his sick yellow smile in such a sweet character turn as we don’t often see.
Besides Andrew’s work, congratulations must be given to Plan B and Scott Free for putting together an amazing crew that includes Roger Deakins work, Dylan Tichenor and Curtiss Clayton’s work, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. This is like a dream team of people you would want to work on a western drama. Don’t know who these people are? IMDB them and you will **** your pants.
THE ASSASINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD is the best film that I’ve seen this year and I look forward to Andrew Dominik’s next.

Well said!
I was going to call this liar out too, then thought, why? Anyone with an active brain cell knows the UN want the information to get out and indeed invited the press.
i see the one troll is back trying to get the fans fighting with each other-it is so obvious-oh by the way there were no comments on that jen thread-no fans,no hits,no MAN-
To 104. Do you even know where the UN is and what it entails to get there? Ask any New Yorker and they will tell how pissed off our security measures make them during this time of year? This is a private screening. The DHL Auditorium is a tiny facility.
Just goes to show how ignorant her fans are, worshipping blindly.
When George Clooney comes to the UN, you can bet UN staff are out in full force to meet him and have pictures taken. You never see those pictures in these blogs because he does NOT bring celebrity photographers. Jay-Z, we waited an hour for him to finish his press conference. Roger Federer, we snuck into the meeting to hear him speak. Even Michael Douglas gets more attention from Staff. I don’t know of any of my co-workers who’ve ever bothered to wait for your hypocrite box-office flop idol.

love these two. they seem to bring out the very best in one another. also people who claim to dislike them spend a lot of time commenting on them, i guess they(brad and angelina) even bring out the passion in negative people.
That’s one of the reasons why Angelina is so amazing: she cares about world affairs, politics and the less fortunate people in the world. I like people like that.
Wonderful article. Brad’s own words.

Some excerpts-
Brad Pitt talked to press about The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford when he was in Toronto.
How do you feel having won the Best Actor award in Venice for your role?
“I was stunned. I just got the call a few minutes ago from my producers who are still in Venice. I was in the room with Angie when the call came. My first reaction was, ‘Huh?’ I did not expect it. It’s a great honour. I am honoured to be part of the list of actors who won this award. I’m still processing this. It’s particularly rewarding considering Assassination took three years to make.”
How do you respond to rumours that you and Angelina are having problems?
“That’s crazy. Angelina is my love, my partner and the mother of my children. We’re a normal family — a mother, a father and kids.”
Are you ready for more kids?
“Yes, we’re ready for another. The kids are fantastic and they sometimes get unruly and say the funniest things I’ve ever heard. Man, they’re the funniest people I’ve ever met. It’s strange the chaos they cause. We move into a hotel room and boom! It’s external chaos, but it’s the eye of the storm, too, because it’s actually very calm. It’s calming to me.”
So how do you and Angelina maintain stability?
“The most important thing is to make sure we carve out our time for the kids. We give them group time and one-on-one time, because it’s our responsibility to help shape them. So it’s fatherhood and family first, and then we slip into work. Angelina and I try to carve out time for ourselves, too, but if something’s got to go, it’s usually that time.”
Are you happy?
“Definitely. We’re working on things we’re interested in. Family first, which makes work more enjoyable. The family frees me, so I’m more relaxed when I work.”
What drives you to promote charitable causes such as fighting poverty and hunger in the developing world?
“I feel it’s incumbent on all of us to lend a hand if we can. When I’ve traveled, I’ve wandered off the beaten path and once you meet people and hear their stories there’s just no way not to want to help. I know of no greater feeling than knowing you’ve affected someone’s life.”

Clint Eastwood also says that his family comes first.
HERE’S HARRY KNWOLES REVIEW OF AOJJ(Published on 9/4/07- 4:41pm)
—————————————————————
Harry witnesses THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD!
There are few tales told with the somber bittersweet taste of melancholy, like that of THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD.
Why submit to a tale of melancholy – a film where you know right from the out start… Jesse James will be shot, in the back, by the coward Robert Ford.
Everyone knows that part of the story. It’s widely known that Bob Ford shot Jesse James while he was dusting or adjusting a photograph in his own living room. However, do you know why Robert Ford pulled that trigger? Do you know how well they knew each other, that Bob loved Jesse James more than any other person on the planet – and that there’s a lot more to the story than that eventual act of cowardice – which could be interpretated as an act of mercy, an act of self-defense or just an error in judgment… a mistake.
It is a very interesting time we live in where I’ve just seen one of the best Westerns since the death of the Genre with 3:10 TO YUMA – to then be faced by the exact sort of masterful Western that killed the genre altogether.
In the late 1960’s and 70’s – a genre of western came about that ignored the Penny Dreadfuls, the myths and the legends – and instead of the John Ford or Howard Hawks Western take – there became a new way of making westerns. They were Westerns that new they were dying. Films like THE WILD BUNCH and THE PROFESSIONALS were the first signs… They were the brutal westerns where your friends died and the good guys and the bad guys started to become… well, less clearly defined. Then came the Westerns that ceased to look like anything we’ve seen before – no – not ZACHARIAH or EL TOPO – though those definitely count. No – I’m talking about films like JEREMIAH JOHNSON, A MAN CALLED HORSE, THE BALLAD OF CABLE HOGUE or PAT GARRETT & BILLY THE KID and THE LONG RIDERS.
These were films about the sad reality of legends. It all sort of culminated with UNFORGIVEN – they underlined that the old west was a beautifully ugly world. The whores were no longer Marlene Dietrich, but women that’d gut you as easily as the men. The photography and the scores for the westerns became arty and obscure. They ceased to be about characters you could root for and get behind, and became about how we’re all alone on this world and we’re all going to die badly… oh… and there’s no such thing as a hero.
THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD is a brilliant western in that crowd. I love these films – just as I love the mythic westerns. But with this film in particular – it isn’t so much about demystifying the myth of Jesse James – as much as punctuating how tragic and sad the end of that myth was.
My favorite all time Jesse James on film is currently Brad Pitt. There’s a wild rabid dog in his eyes – there’s moments when he’s a nightmare and yet you could see why people would like him. Don’t get me wrong – I love James Keach and Tyrone Power. This particular story was done very well by director Samuel Fuller with his I SHOT JESSE JAMES, as Sam’s very first film to direct. Even James Dean played Jesse on Walter Cronkite’s amazing show, “YOU ARE THERE” – and I have to wonder what that was. I’d love to see it – just because James Dean was very definitely an actor – not unlike Brad Pitt in technique and style. But Brad’s Jesse James is a squirrelly character. He observes the room he’s in, studying anyone in it and their every move. And everyone else reacts to him – as if he’s a rattlesnake. They become still and cautious. There’s respect and fear. Nobody wants to get bit, but they all know if they spend too long with him, it’ll be an inevitability.
However, as great as Brad is as Jesse James – the actor to watch and marvel at in this film is Casey Affleck.
I know – that sounds astonishing, but it is absolutely the god’s own truth. Casey Affleck delivers the single best performance that I’ve seen thus far this year. His Robert Ford is a reprehensible little worm. There’s something about the way he plays this character that makes you want to stand up from your seat and slap the ***** around then hit him with a ******* shovel. He’s vile and disgusting. But on the surface, he’s just a nice unassuming guy. You would never really notice him. It might be that we all know he’s going to shoot Jesse James. And this story is very much about why that act was such a vile betrayal.
Casey’s Bob Ford is young. He hero worships Jesse James. The line in the trailer, “Do you want to know me or be me?” is so icky in the film, because Casey is watching. Casey’s smile is so disingenuine as to make my skin crawl. It literally gave me the heebie jeebies.
However – this is all distracting the real star of the film… Andrew Dominik. We last saw him with CHOPPER – an utterly brilliant film which birthed Eric Bana on to the scene. The two films are pretty far apart, but essentially a similar tale. Wild Rabid Dogs of the human variety facing betrayal and an end to their reign of terror. But in CHOPPER it was stark reality. Here, it is poetic. There is brutality, but it punctuates the beauty of existence, which you could say is reality. We live in a beautiful world that is punctuated by ugliness. When you watch this film – it’s impossible to not be intoxicated by how beautiful it is. Roger Deakins is a shoo-in for a nomination at least for his work here.
Then there’s the melancholic thread punctuated by the beautiful musical work of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. If you loved Nick’s brilliant work on THE PROPOSITION – he is again at the top of his game here. That score in conjunction with the narration provided by someone named Hugh Ross… well it gives the film a feeling of impending doom. Any smile or laughter you see are momentary hiccups on the tragedy that is inevitable. Any hope is ended by the deliberate nature of the score and Hugh’s deliberate and slightly sad narration.
All of this combines to make a masterful tragic film. This is a brilliant film. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/33899
