Mary-Louise Parker’s New Daughter via Africa

Mary-Louise Parker’s New Daughter via Africa

TMZ has scored the first picture of Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker with her newly adopted daughter on Thursday in New York City.

Mary-Louise and former actor boyfriend Billy Crudup have a 3-year-old son, William Parker.

Parker’s Jesse James costar Brad Pitt recently praised her as an actress and as a mom.

Said Brad of Parker, “I haven’t spoken to her since I’ve heard [about her decision to adopt a child from Africa]. I think that’s a great idea… She’s a great mother, she graced our film, came in and did a really lovely part for us. She had her little boy (Will) out and she was a really lovely mother.”

No other details have been released about Parker’s new baby.

how cute! god bless to both mother and daughter

wow - he throws that “she’s a great mother” compliment out all the time. Didn’t he say that about Cate B, too? Doesn’t he have any other type of compliments to give? I guess this is the most generic one.

# 3

What’s her name? What country is she from? Get on the ball JJ and let us know these things!!!

Cute little girl and she has the same “WTF” look for the paps as Zee!!!

Louise-parker is awesome.

Nevermind that there are thousands of kids that need a home right here in our own country. I guess 3 and 4 years is old in orphan years, wouldn’t want one of those. Better go elsewhere so we can be sure to get one young enough to mold in our own image.

Bah.

Yeah Brad Pitt is annoying like vrybody should kill to get his compliments..BTW,I saw him on StarDaily at Jesse James premier..he has really aged from the great life with Angelina!

But…but…why don’t she adopt in the US ? We have plenty of poor orphans in here ? (sarcasm!!!)

Good for her and welcome babygirl ! wish you a great life, health and happiness !

Actually it’s so difficult to adopt here that’s why many go elsewhere.

Even if it wasn’t, adopting or having a bio child is a PRIVATE, INTIMATE choice ! There are american men who deliberately go outside the US to find a wife beacause they don’t want to marry a fellow citizen. Noone is yelling : they should marry our women !

I find it offenssive, agressively intrusive when people question an act as intimate and private as adopting a specific child in or outside their country of origin.

Those parents are the ones who will tie their life till death to the child they chosen based on their primal attraction and feelings.

People act as if it is a simple transaction and that a child is a common good that could be traded for another one undinstinctly. At the basis of each adoption, there is a love story, an intuitive common attraction between a child and his soon to be parents. Noone has the right to interfere to say who should adopt who, the same way that noone has the right to say who should marry who.

Welcome to the club Mary Louise. Adoption is a beautiful thing. What a beautiful heart you have. congratulation on you new family member.

Americans don’t have orphans who will die in infancy if not taken care of. Where are all the educated people in this country?

well good for her, it doesn’t matter where the child is from at least she giving her a home. lucky girl

Congrats to Ms. Parker. She has a cute little girl. I wish them all the best. I

Adopting African orphans is soooooo last year….>=) But seriously Congrats!

Cute baby, I ‘m happy for her and her baby.

I have NEVER seen a paparazzi shot of her and her son. Why the sudden interest?

I wish a good life to this little girl who for her first time, someone can give her some love.Every child in this world (Us or africa ) need w to be love and have a parents.
Good to see one orphan save.
Peace.

Blessings on Mary-Louise, Will and his new sister!!!!!!

I wish to this little girl a good life who for the first time have someone who give her some love.Every child US or Africa need a love and home.I’m happy that one orphan and save to her lonely life.
Peace and have a nice day.

Too true! Ethiopia has relaxed their time frames due to the urgency of the AIDS crisis and the explosion of orphans due to the illness. US doesn’t take as long if you are doing private adoptions of white babies like Sheryl Crow and Sharon Stone — didn’t see anyone trashing them! Wonder why?

Good for her…love her on Weeds and can’t wait to see AOJJ.

As to where she decided to adopt her daughter, that shouldn’t be the focus. But of course some will make it that because some American kids need homes as well. Kids are kids and their geographical location should be of little consequence. She’s saving a life. That’s all that matters!

Congrats MLP on your new addition to the family. My hat is off to anyone that has a big heart and lots of love to give to children, no matter where they decide to adopt from. All children deserves love, happiness, and security and it’s a shame that some begrudge any child(ren) these basic needs.

This had nothing to do with frickin’ stuPITT. He said in his interview he wasn’t aware of it - that he had just heard, but he’ll use it to keep his buzz going so some stupid idiots make actually plunk down 10 bucks to see his stupid movie. Love Mary Louise. Hate the pittshit.

Rubyrose77 @ 09/20/2007 at 6:59 pm

AWWWW W

people should stop linking adoptions to brad pitt and his “family” ppl were adopting long b4 them and will long after them nicole kidman and tom cruise for instance they have adopted a black son and a white daugther years ago………………but anyway I’m really happy for them

Luz said: Americans don’t have orphans who will die in infancy if not taken care of. Where are all the educated people in this country?

***********

That’s interesting, and you’re looking for educated people? Hmm. What we do have is many, many cases of people who keep foster children just to get the check the government sends every month. I’m happy for any GOOD family to get a child that needs taking care of (here or Africa, don’t worry) but how ridiculous to act like no kids here die or have a bad life in the system. That’s completely assinine.

I witnessed first hand (when I was a 2 1/2-year-old) my big brother being sat on a lit stovetop by a caregiver because he wouldn’t stop crying. He was mentally retarded, I doubt that helped. I spent several years in foster homes and was one of the VERY, VERY few children of age four or up to get adopted, much less into a decent home. My brothers and sisters who were aged 6 and up were warned they would probably never get adopted. We were lucky. We could well have been overlooked for a baby.

I applaud anyone who adopts any child but I know first hand that there are many, many children here that have not got a chance for a good life because they are being overlooked.

SHES DIDN’T ADOPT IN AMERICA BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T WANT TO WHAT THE HELL..SHE DON’T HAVE TO DO WHAT OTHERS “THINK” ITS RIGHT, IF YOUR SO CONCERED ABOUT THE KIDS HERE WHY DON’T YOU ADOPTED THEM….LOOK I KNOW WE HAVE POVERTY AND ORPHAN HERE BUT HONESTLY ITS NOTHING LIKE THOESE “3RD WORLD COUNTRIES” I’M BEEN A MISSIONARY FOR 3 YEARS NOW AND I’VE TRAVELED ALOT AND IF YPU’VE SEEN WHAT I’VE SEEN YOU WOULD KNOW WHY PPL WANT TO HELP THOSES COUNTRIES

Congrats to Mary Louise and to the little girl who now has a forever family. The process of international adoption is far from easy. To Katya; actually Ethiopia hasn’t made it easier to adopt because of the Aids crisis. This year they have actually made even more restrictions. But it is true there are 4 million orphans in Ethiopia alone. In 2001, a total of 34 million children in sub-Saharan Africa were orphans. That was 6 years ago, when you think in those kind of numbers it makes all the “why not an American child” haters seem silly. All children deserve homes, but as grim as foster care in the States is, the fact that the child I adopted from Ethiopia might not have seen his 5th birthday is what led me there.

Good for you Mary Louise!

I’m happy for her and the baby..I’m glad she adopted the little girl, when you adopt it doesn’t matter what country the baby is from and adoption is a good thing.

Poor BBperfume,

People like you are soooo envious of Brad. He is the dream-man of billions of women around the world. :-)

How cute! I wonder what country is she from? Zee is from Ethiopia, a country on the east coast of the African continent. Madonna’s tike is from Malawi, an inland nation close to South Africa. I hope Brad and Angie gets a sibling for Zee like they promised. I think they’re ready NOW to adopt again.

GOD BLESS AND CONGRATULATIONS TO MS PARKER AND HER FAMILY. IF YOU CANNOT HAVE A CHILD BIOLOGICALLY, IT WILL COST YOU ALOT TO ADOPT A CHILD ( I MEAN A LOT OF MUCHO DOLLARS ) HERE IN THE US OR ELSEWHERE, SO ALOT OF THOUGHTS, FEELINGS OF LOVE AND TENDERNESS AND ALOT OF MUCHO DOLLARS ARE INVESTED WHEN DOING AN ADOPTION. ALL OF YOU HATERS OUT THERE WHO HAS SOMETHING SMART TO SAY … PLEASE TAKE SOME TIME TO THINK ABOUT THIS.

You can always tell when people talk out of there “u know what” first before making any derogatory statement, esp. one as sensitive as this, it might be in your best interest to do a little something called research…
WTF, I couldn’t have said it any better then you did, but just to add my 2cents… Most of these people make these choices to go to other countries because as soon as they even start to visit orphanages, the news becomes public and next thing some idiot will be on here talking about they are public figures so they don’t have private affairs, no one ever considers the child in question…
Just like this idea that as Americans they should adopt American kids… so am guessing you also suggest that since those kids in 3rd world countries are not Americans, they should rot in the orphanage since they don’t have people that well off in their country to help them???
People, I understand poking fun at celebs, I really have nothing against that, but when it comes to the kids, we should really be mindful of the statements we make… These kids have just been given an opportunity of a life time, don’t make them/ their parents feel they have to pay with every second of their life for it…
Just be happy for the child… I wish there are enough families for all these kids (both Americans, Africans and all these kids all over the world) to have the opportunity at a family life… but that just isn’t the case so please be wise when you speak cause well God is watching and if you don’t believe in GOD, Karma suck… I can asure you that…

Oh and those that talk to lightly of Z, do you know that child would have been dead if Ms. Jolie did not adopt her when she did?
And for those of you that talk about the Jolie-Pitts, how many of you have ever seized the opportunity to save someone’s life (in the literal sense)?

Just saying @ 09/20/2007 at 8:07 pm

A have a girl friend that has been waiting years and even tho it is finally final she has been waiting for 7 months for him to come to the US. Must be nice to have lots of no money but at what cost no morals?.

Pitty I actually liked her and felt bad for her after her Brad like b/f dumped her while pregnant but now .. nah not so much

I won’t even argue with this idiotic statement (”Brad like b/f”–yeah, because Jennifer was 7 months pregnant when Brad left) but it shows a typical Aniston fan: nearly illiterate, illogical, prejudiced and narrow-minded. It must feel good to be a simpleton.

I think princess Z is going to have a little competition in the “cutest girl in the world” category!!!

I am really quite tired of all of the debate of whether or not someone should be adopting a child from the US as opposed to one from overseas. It is such a simplistic, uninformed knee-jerk reaction that I wonder about the motivation behind of all of this outrage. It is frankly absurd to read comments along the lines of PR motivation, or African babies being the new accessories–frankly it drives me absolutely batty. It seems to me that there was none of this debate for the last twenty-five years when hundreds of thousands of Americans adopted baby girls from China. The choice to adopt a child is a personal one and really it is no business of anyone but the one making the decision, and thank god they have the fortitude to do so. If overseas adoptions are causing you so much agita, then may I suggest that you dissenters do the right thing, and adopt an American baby or child(and usually the black and latino ones are the last to go) from within the foster care system. Or perhaps that does not fit into your life plans but yet, somehow, gives you license to become arm chair critics and freely cast aspersion on those who at least have the strength, kindness and moral standing to do something that counts. Why should it matter where the new addition to the family comes from? You need to assess the true reasons behind your steadfast criticism–call it what you will, I know it when I see it.

Lovely - and God bless.

Ifyou’re so concerned about the orphans of USA, then why don’t YOU go out and adopt some? Put your money where your mouth is.

i agree with#30 amanda. i was thinking about Tom Cruise and Nicole’s adoption too. Maybe Mary-Louise should adopt a white baby too so you people can just shut up.

Little Zee Junior, LOL.

She is a cute little girl. Congrats to MLP!!

Wow, are my eyes deceiving me, negative comments about Brangelina on Brangelunatic site JJ??

What a cutie pie. More pictures please.

Let’s see: her money, her life, her family, her choice. She has the right to adopt from Siberia if she wants.

Those whon don’t agree, should stop attacking individuals on where they adopt and head to the nearest AMERICAN adoption agency and go adopt some kids.

If you are not doing that, then shut up, relax and let grown adults do what they want with their lives. Butt out!

coalharbourqt @ 09/21/2007 at 12:20 am

Aww, congrats to MLP and her son Will on the newest member of their family! What a beautiful little girl. Any adoption warms my heart - just to see a child get a shot at a better life and to have parents is truly special.

It’s sad to see people making nasty comments and offering up criticisms - some people here just make me sick with their ignorant, uninformed opinions.

#31 S. - I am truly sorry to hear about the experiences of you and your siblings - what happened to you is not right either. The point that others are trying to make is that adopting a child from Africa is actually giving them a chance at LIFE, not just a GOOD life. Most who aren’t adopted will simply die from AIDS or malnutrition - they will never even have the chance to grow up in a foster care system (as flawed as it may be). I just wish there was a good home for every orphan, North American or otherwise. Peace.

Then why don’t you adopt a child from the US then? Geez, people are so quick to judge. She’s doing a fantastic thing by giving that poor child a new chance at a better life. She should be applauded for that, not criticized. Get a gripe!

I just wanted to say how commendable it is that Ms. Parker made room for any of God’s blessings in her life. It says alot about a person whenever they take “someone not of their blood” in and gives them a better chance at life. God Bless Ms. Parker. And now i’m going to get off of this website because once again some of you have ruined it by bringing Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston onto website that has nothing to do with either of them.

people don’t adopt in the US because it’s a rich country. US orphans have more support. not only nations in africa are poorer but asia, southeastasia, the list goes on. the death rate for children in those parts of the world is really high compared to the US. kids are dying from malaria, the US pharmacuticals should be sending FREE drugs there for malaria and aids.

the baby is super cute btw

The little girl is happy that she chose to adopt from Africa, don’t you think?

…and that is all that should matter.

**** her and maddonna too.

I have nothing but respect for anyone who tries to do anything
positive to help and come to the aid of children in need…
The care, dedication, closeness and love that these children
need is priceless, not to mention a balance and healthy meal
on a regular bases, health care, something as common to us as
a glass of clean water to drink… For a child to get a chance
to live out a full life that once looked impossible is a gift
from God….think about the child, and put your hate card back
in the deck…

I applaud anyone..black… white… green.. yellow… that is
human enough to give a damn and do ‘anything’ beside find fault
and complain about what others are trying to do.

Good Heavens! PittY-Boy sounds so condecending toward Mary Louise’s decision to adopt an African child…does he think he owns the concept now?..Jerk, he and his ho are just jerks…and narcissistic ones at that

publicdefender @ 09/21/2007 at 11:53 pm

I cannot believe how ignorant some of these comments are. How can you criticize anyone who would give a child a loving home and a good life? AIDS is sweeping like wildfire in sub-Saharan Africa leaving hundreds of thousands if not millions of children orphans. These children need homes, and beautiful people like Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Mary-Louise Parker are generous and caring enough to take some of these children into their lives. The comments about how many American children need homes has nothing to do with the decision to adopt a child from Africa. American orphans need homes, Chinese oprhans need homes, European orphans need homes - who are we to judge someone else’s personal choices, ESPECIALLY the choice to reach out and give someone a better life. As bad as the foster care system is here and as much as our healthcare systems need overhaul we in the U.S. still have the privilege of having access to medicine and treatment that a child in a third world nation will never see. We also have the fortune of access to education. Maybe Ms. Jolie and Ms. Parker chose to adopt from Africa because they witnessed the devasation that has gone on there do to AIDS (and American and European imperialism and exploitation of matural reasources and the diamond trade, but that’s an entirely different debate). To all those who sit in judgment, why don’t you go visit orphanages in third world nations and educate yourselves.

good for her ass she adopted an african kid, all i say is teach the kid about his heritage and not that scientology crap, hes african not anything else

i agree with stop buying kids, it does look stupid to see a white woman holding a black baby

since when have these women been so interested in africa. if they are so interested go over there and spend some of that money your ass has like oprah did to help a bunch of people, not running aroun with a black kid on your arm, like oh look at me i am helping a poor black kid. crap

Some Truth @ 10/06/2007 at 10:10 pm

I agree that adoption is a marvelous thing and it shouldn’t be criticized that MLP saved one child in Africa.

However, the person who pointed out that there are plenty of orphans in America does make a valid point.

The idiot who thinks that children don’t die in the US from lack of basic needs, just because they’re orphans is rather naive.

I don’t think we should be less compassionate towards people living outside of our home countries, but we do need to be at least as compassionate towards our own citizens.

It might be easy to ignore problems on a global scale. I applaud humanitarian efforts worldwide, but we do need to make sure that before we try to fix other countries, take care of our own as well.

MLP did a good thing, but it should be an act that inspires someone to adopt a child in the US, as much as finding one elsewhere. It is important to remember that many older children without parents do fall through the cracks. Going from foster home to foster home, often becoming “problem kids” and problematic adults.

To the person who said that it is a personal choice whom you adopt, I see his or her point… However, the way the comment was worded sounding almost as if one is choosing a puppy, not helping a child. The abused and unhappy child needs a loving family just as much as one that seems to attract one’s love automatically, or naturally on some spiritual level.

Nevertheless, who would want any child, whether as beautiful and cute as MLP’s or not, to ever miss out on the chance of perhaps having a better life. No matter what, if even one child is saved from hopelessness, either figuratively from being alone in the world emotionally, or literally from a life without enough food or proper shelter, then who among us should try to say that it is in any way a bad thing.

1) i think it’s cool that she adopted period.
2) brad and angelina did not invent int’l adoption so stop bringing them up whenever someone adopts
3) African, Asian, and American kids need homes. no matter what country race or whatever
4) adoption or having children is someone’s personal decision, stop hating!
5) and saying it’s looks ridiculous whenever a white woman holds a black child is just plain racist!
