Fashion Faceoff: Jay Godfrey Dress
Ginnifer Goodwin looked red hot in the Jay Godfrey bow dress at the HBO Emmys after-party at the Pacific in Los Angeles earlier this week. The 29-year-old actress finished off her look with simple dangle earrings, sparkly bangles and t-strap peep-toes.
Vanessa Hudgens wore the same bow-topped trapese in black at the LA premiere of Hairspray back in July. The High School Musical star finished off her look with black and gold bangles and matching black shoes with gold brackets.
Who wore it best — GINNIFER GOODWIN or VANESSA HUDGENS?

Though styles were the same…the skin tones were not. They both look ok to me. I like Vanessa though.

Both are beautiful girls…..but I don’t like what Ginnifer did to the bow. It’s what adds detail to the front of an otherwise simple dress. Vanessa wore it just right; pretty shoes and accessories! And it was very age appropriate for her!

Well, obviously, Vanessa’s throngs of teenybopper fans are going to come running to support their idol. However, I’m in school for fashion design, and I’m going to have to say that (objectively speaking) Ginnifer Goodwin looks much better. The dress seems better suited to her body type, and the red shade compliments her coloring very well, whereas Vanessa Hudgens looks colorless and somewhat trashy considering the combination of the black eyeliner, black dress, and dark hair. Notice how GG seems to be almost glowing, while VH looks somewhat sickly. GG has also come up with a much more original way to wear the bow bit of the dress (or at the very least, her stylist has)–granted, this means that many will like it less that Vanessa’s unoriginal (but more classic) look. However, I always like to see someone make the more daring choice.
