Somehow ignorant white people have painted themselves as victims when a Black person or Black community celebrate their uniqueness. I guess that is how twisted they culture is. Diversity is what makes a society rich with ideas. On one hand you have cultural diversity, on the other you have the seeds of fascism. There has never been one culture on the face of this earth that has not had exchange with other cultures. There is no one culture that the world should become - or perhaps some people would like there to be Fox News all the time and only McFood for our diets.

I’m sure those who are attacking Black culture and uniqueness, are also against the UN (you guys are all so predictable). But nonetheless, the UN has a declaration on cultural diversity . In fact some say that cultural diversity is like bio-diversity - it will help the human race survive. In other words, if humans were plants, and white people are say dandelions, then nature wouldn’t survive if there were only dandelions. Diversity is the basis of life.

Here is what the UN says: all cultures can express themselves and make themselves known. Freedom of expression, media pluralism, multilingualism, equal access to art and to scientific and technological knowledge, including in digital form, and the possibility for all cultures to have access to the means of expression and dissemination are the guarantees of cultural diversity.

Article 7 - Cultural heritage as the wellspring of creativity. Creation draws on the roots of cultural tradition, but flourishes in contact with other cultures. For this reason, heritage in all its forms must be preserved, enhanced and handed on to future generations as a record of human experience and aspirations, so as to foster creativity in all its diversity and to inspire genuine dialogue among cultures.

I read her comment and it was filled with ignorance. As a black woman of Nigerian descent, I was very bothered by her comments. Like someone said on here, if it wasn’t for a black woman (Tyra), there will not be this has been. I wonder what Tyra might think of her nasty, ignorant, and racist comment.

This crap she says about “I dated a black guy” is complete garbage. It is the typical comment a white person who said ignorant comments about one race, says just to justified that the person is not a racist. I hate it when people make that lame comment. If that was the case, what is the POINT of making the comment? You know what I mean?

{I agree with her. It’s funny how black people can have BET and it is not racist. If there is a white entertainment channel, all other races will jump up to protest. Any activity,fund,organization etc. sets up for people of one race is racist. Black people make themselves different and separated from other races by playing race card in everything from getting job, being fired, going to jail, being arrested etc. }

And there isn’t a need for a White Entertainment Channel because if you look at the four majors (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX–omitting the CW on purpose) you’ll see that their programming lacks diversity. They are all White Entertainment Channels. It’s why organizations have to release studies each year showing that TV is not reflecting the makeup of this country.{

All I can say is that Adrianne needs to buy herself a clue and come to realise the essence of black history month and the reasoning behind it……

This woman has clearly not thought through her opinons. Blacks as a whole do not look upon BET as a cultural channel representing their heritage or their people. BET would be better off calling themselves Hip Hop culture channel or not have a name at all (WKTV channel 36 or something). Not every black person in America watches BET and celebrates Black History Month. Most of those people who do watch BET and celbrate Black History Month are those who are doing what is common in human nature; to associate themselves with those people who are common to their lifestyle or culture. I do think that there is racism in America though, on both sides Black and White. However, those whites who think that blacks complain about being repressed are representative of a whole are highly misconstrued. Every race has individuals who do not attempt to better themselves in life, however, the problem arises in the fact that some American Blacks claim that slavery and cultural opression has held them back from a better lifestyle. Every or the largest majority have an opportunity to go to school, have a chance to make good decisions, have a chance to hold a job, etc. What I dont understand is why a majority of Black Americans choose to not pursue education and make good scholastic decisions. Now dont get me wrong, I know there are a lot of Black Americans who do go to college, but I also know that there are many who choose to quit on an education when that is probably the only ticket they have to a better life. Im a white student who attends a HBCU and I dont see any black students at the school who are into drugs, violence, or much less who want to live in a poverish lifestyle. Im not a racist, but come on, everyone knows that whenever you turn on the news or whenever someone gets arrested its probably a Black man. Is it some kind of racist conspiracy that the cops are in on? Or is it the decisions that those individuals are making?? Answer the question truthfully. Please respond to this message. Sorry you people can aggree with her all you want.. the fact remains.. you can any type of month you want but we have and will keep black history month. somebody mentioned what about “american History month” well you know thats everyday… everyday… from the beginning of time..thats why their is black history month so you are taught about more than just american history.. so cry all you want.. its here to stay
