Adrianne Curry: “Boycott Black History Month!”

man, i knew this was gonna cause a stir up. race is always a touchy subject in this country.

I’m also Chinese-American…..Even though we do have asian history month or whatever. Do they teach that in school?? Hell no. And how many people actually celebrate it or have walks to promote it, or have some marathon on television about it? With that being said…how many asian people protest about that and talk about it? Not many. so don’t even talk about being suppressed and what not.

I completely agree with RC…there is a difference between being proud and then just being self centered. People just need to stop being arrogant and stop playing the race card. Take responsibilities for your actions. if you get mistreated just don’t’ go to that place anymore. Trust me…my parents get mistreated all the time. When they go to buy a car, people give them a higher price b/c they think they can take advantage of my parents. Sometimes when they go to walmart or the mall, they don’t give them the discount that was offered in the paper. Whats with that? This doesn’t just happens once or twice…it’s always been like this. So my parents just try to take care of themselves and watch out. One time my dad went to get an oil change, when he got home he checked it and notice that it wasn’t even changed the oil was still black. He went back to the place and they didn’t even pay any attention to him. Did he put up a fit and play the race card? Hell no. he left and never went there again, and told his friends that he knew goes there not to go.

So, bottom line there are other races in this country that never gets heard. So don’t be ignorant and self centered.

Oh please. Black history is just to remember how black ppl suffered during slavery and during the civil rights movement. Fair enough, the native Americans should get their own month also but seriously that entire post was ignorant. She obviously doesnt have any idea how that race suffered in the past.

we shouldnt have any months dedicated to anyone. wheres Caucasian month??!?

she is speaking s***, im black and its good to have black history month in america to remind us about all the harrassment, harm and prejudice that has taken place in the past. Black history month was established to remember all the courageous people that took park in the civil rights moevements, all the accomplishments that black people have achieves and all the oppression that they have suffered after being unceremoniously taken from their homeland in Africa to work for all the rich caucasian people in america. Black people have gone through so much discrimination over such a long time, and it was truely horrendous. Black history month was established to honour all black people, and in a way to reconcile for all of their misfortunes and to truely make them feel like they are part of a nation that so long ago oppressed them. Although it would be good to dedicate sometime to all the other ethnicities that exist in america!

WE ARE AMERICANS! How dare we have Black History Month! In my eyes, the Native Americans deserve it MUCH more, seeing how we destroyed their ENTIRE SOCIETY. There are hardly any of them left! They also have been proven to have the WORST living conditions on their reservations. I want AN AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH.

Obviously this woman do not have a historical grasp or the perspective on race in it’s proper context.

Firstly, one cannot speak about one race then bring in all of the other races by saying this race is mistreated theirfore they deserve to have a certain status over another race. Black people as a race until forty years ago (1967) were still being lynched, they were not allowed to vote, they were still excluded from living in certain areas ( and that is still the case in most places in America today) they still make less than other Americans, and they are still disporportionatley sentenced by the criminal justice system need I continue. There are more black people in jail than any other people in America. Read about the Jena 6 and many more cases that target young black men for harsher punishment when they come in front of the criminal justice system.

Secondly, the reason we have a black history month is because our history has not been documented in any of America’s history books. Our achievements and contributions to American and the world were deliberaely excluded from the history of this country. As a result Black History Month was created to teach (young) black people about our race and our contributions to society.

Thirdly, our race was enslaved for over four hundred years. No other race has been held in slave for half that amount of time. It is black slave labour that build up this country from the south and up. I am not sure if you are aware but slave labour means without pay. So Black people and generations upon generations of blacks worked for over four hundred years without pay to build America, Great Britain, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Canada, France, Italy. You name the country African slaves worked and died building up their economies.

Fourth, I do not think someone such as yourself with your basic miseducation has the right to disrespect my race, my people and our contributions to this country and the world. Please remember that for hundreds of years during and after slavery and still many many years after the emancipaion of slavery in the middle 1800’s blacs not allowed to attend schools it was against he law in most staes in this country for a black person to be educated.

As well we as a race were terriorized by the Klu Klux Klan who were sanctioned by American lawmakers for many many years into the 19th century.

I am tempted to forgive you for your rant about this issue under the guise of caring about all people and write it off to ignorance but I am gathering that your purpose for writint this piece is coming from a place of publicity seeking. It is wrong to continue to perpetuate one injustice in order to advance your own personal goals.

Finally, a great philosohper once said something to this affect a little knowledge is worst than no knowledge. Be informed before you speak on topics of historical relevance because to do so is no simple task.

She’s a stupid b*tch. If she was black and understood our history, maybe she would shut the hell up and give us ONE MONTH out of the year to celebrate how far we’ve come as a race and everything we’ve been through. People have tried to make us ashamed of who we are for centuries as black people. But we are not ashamed anymore. Black History Month is NOT about being a racist, its about being proud of who you are.

Black people shouldn’t get mad because this is a white person saying this. I am so tired of the black people having to beg people with, “No color lines.” Who is saying this? It’s always the blacks saying please include us- get rid of racism -love everybody. Phooey Matooey! It’s nice that this woman will stand up and say we need to get rid of racism and things that lead to it. That’s what she’s saying. If more white people would agree with her and join her in her views, we could get something done finally.

Adrienne is a very open person. She was on drugs and has been down and depressed before. She loves all people and is not racist. She’s very good.

First the Native Americans were terrorized and mistreated and their country taken from them. Then the African Americans were brought over here stolen from their country and made to work this land stolen from the Indians and whipped and killed and raped and tortured to build the white americans a country. If we invented or started something the white americans took credit for it. I am only 60 years old but I remember how it was for black people in this country. There were some oriental people brought over here to work the country too but they still did not have it as bad as the black old niggers in the south. My great grandaddy had his skin stripped off his back because he refused to be a stud and make strong young black babies to work the masters farm anymore. He was from a tribe in Africa that mostly populated boy babies and they were very tall and strong and the master wanted a herd of boys like him and made him mate with all the female slaves, that was his occupation at night after working in the fields all day. He dosent even know his kids or we dont know if we are marring someone that could be family because of this. Wake up and study history before you judge our black race. PLEASE
